Mind-Blowing Structures in Minecraft 1.19!

Hello i’m fbx toy cat and the 1.16 update changed everything about the never besides this thing multiple developers confirmed it was in fact the one and only thing they specifically didn’t want to update and so that seems strange enough by itself but now look at this structure as well as this one and

This one and try and tell me they’re the same quality as the newer structures like the village the pillage or even just the ruined portal for real this is one of the big inconsistency gaps in minecraft because they’ve added structures to the games over 12 separate

Years now and it means that we have structures like this and this inside the same minecraft and that is something i imagine they’ll want to fix and given that 1.19 is being revealed soon i think it would give my theory on what i think we should see if not in that update then

In the next one 1.20 or 1.21 because minecraft needs a structure update and allow me to explain why and let’s start with the newer structures which actually do do a really great job they don’t need to remake the bastion for example a new structure from that same never update

Because it’s a giant pretty interesting structure it has a unique mob that only spawns there as well as being a good source for something you can find elsewhere but specifically also there the regular piglen and then on top of that it also has some pretty interesting

Loot being one of the few places in the game you can find ancient debris or diamond stuff outside of having to mine those things specifically so there is good loot there is good reason to go there otherwise and it’s also really interesting to look at and i think one

Of the most crucial bits that makes it interesting to explore even after the first second third fourth time is the fact that they have four separate variants of the bastion so in addition to the bastion being different every time it spawns in your world because it’s in a different place it’s also

Different to explore because you don’t know if you’re getting the bastion bridge or the bastion of the magma spawning chamber or the bastion that surrounds one kind of central pillar which is so terrifying when piglens come at you from all angles um and also this one has gold blocks kind of hidden away

In the corners of the structure there are so many little secrets and fun things to find with all four variants of the bastion and now let’s compare that to something that’s also meant to be fun and exploration based uh we’ll say the desert temple for now do you know how

The desert temple works well you find one and it’s always exactly the same and then you walk into it and you know what you dig down from this big orange point in the center and you end up on a pressure plate which explodes some tnt and then you know from every single time

Then onwards just don’t go down the middle and you’ll be fine you can get four chests worth of loot and it really is a lesson that every single minecraft player learns in their first world and then never makes the mistake again and in fact with the proliferation of

Youtube it’s so rare for people to actually discover this by themselves realistically what happens is you watch a youtube video like this one that shows you how to do that and then when you go into the desert temple you walk in you mind from the side you get four chests

Worth of amazing loot and then you’re out all of these different little nooks and crannies around the desert temple you know exactly what they mean i nothing and you know that you can just walk in and out without any of that having any a special value i feel like

The desert temple could benefit from the exact same thing the bastion has where maybe there is a mob that spawns there more often maybe um it always has the uh you know husks inside of it and some number so you can come there specifically for the husks or you can

Come there for the loot but if you want to find the loot there are actually quite a few variants of the desert temple and each of them has a slightly different puzzle if you want to get your hands on the chest um even just having the exact same structure you know let’s

Say the designing structures takes months and years or something like that and it clearly doesn’t because i mean here are some variants of desert temples that i’ve made in the past and i can’t even build but let’s just say that you know like building a new desert temple

Might ruin something about the game even just moving some of those chests to different places uh having some of them sometimes spawn in those little corners um having them sometimes be just randomly around the place this would encourage people to actually explore their desert temples and to look around

In different places as opposed to knowing exactly where to go each time and this would add to the value of finding a desert temple because it’s a genuine challenge it’s an interesting thing and that’s before we mention the fact that obviously yeah in addition to just changing the way the puzzle works

On the inside and giving it a use you know some mob and some reason to go there specifically i feel like the big uh one is making sure on the outside it does look different because minecraft structures are something that add to the fabric of the world when they updated

Villages from looking like this to looking like this it actually did change people’s perspective of minecraft in quite a few ways and although i love the old villages i do have to admit the new ones are better and one of the reasons that new villages are so much better

Than old villages is because they will change based on the biome that they’re actually in and not just block-wise they actually have entirely different village designs based on the biome that you find them in and this adds to the minecraft world in small ways i mean the villagers

Also being different uh based on the blime is something else that adds to this exploration value but in my opinion structures should be something that add to the existing minecraft biomes they add to the existing feel of the game and also which encourage you uh to actually

Go around and look for those specific places because right now let’s be honest the snowy tiger is a beautiful place that you should definitely go and look at some time but is there a good reason to go there okay i mean they’ve got tiger trees but so do the tiger biome

And the mega tiger biome okay they’ve got snow on the ground but you can find that on mountains too also a snow golem will produce infinite snow so what is the reason to come to this biome um well there is igloos every now and then and

Off those igloos i mean you can you can always find a bed and a crafting table and a furnace hey guys if you’ve got a long-term survival world do you need beds crafting tables and furnaces okay you don’t need those but if you go down to the basement which exists in 50 of

The cases um then what you’ll find down there is actually a brewing stand which you definitely don’t also have but sarcasm aside obviously there is a splash potion of weakness in that brewing stand and there’s also a golden apple in the chest that comes here and

So that is a kit to allow you to uh turn any zombie villager into a regular one the game even uses this as an opportunity to teach you about that fact although again i imagine most players that know to look for these basements uh will obviously not have to uh look at

That little diagram there to learn that you can turn a zombie villager into a regular one but still it’s a really interesting mechanic that they teach you about thing it’s rare and it’s sometimes a thing but i don’t think it’s good enough to lure you into the snowy tiger

Biome or i’m kind of thinking about tundra right now you know flats uh with just these snow but then there’s some snowy tiger next to it it won’t lure you into that area and maybe honestly we could argue this is the biomes fault maybe what we really need is a snowy

Tiger update but you know a lot of biomes do have a unique structure inside of them and that unique structure just isn’t doing a very good job um if we come back to the swamp part which i kind of railed on earlier the swamp part is a

Better example of how updating these old structures genuinely can make them so much more interesting because when bedrock added spot parts they added two unique features not down on java which have now both been added to java two and so therefore the structure kind of gone update inadvertently in the last few

Years because they added a black cat to this thing you’ll always find a black cat with the witch because witches have black cats or some stereotype right there you know hashtag not all cats am i right but um more seriously you’ll also find the cauldron which is always filled

With some type of potion and that potion being found in the cauldron is enough to make you go to these things and maybe scoop it up the bottle you might get some free potions and that’s a really cool little side reason to come here i think the other reason people come to

Witch huts the only real reason that everyone cares about these things is that you can use them to make which farms if you go through an inordinate amount of effort and even though that’s not my cup of tea i like that there is some later game use for it it’s just not

Really enough in the end i feel like uh these structures could make the you know swamps much more interesting they could add to the whole magic vibe of a swamp especially if we had some things spawning around them or could be more likely to spawn around them i thought

Like the uh witch hut would be much more interesting if it had different variants maybe uh just like how the pillage tower is huge we could have some huge witch huts because it makes sense that at some point these witches would grow their structures and then you might be

Interested or excited to come here and find out i feel like uh you know like almost all of these suggestions end up in some way being like yeah maybe old structures should be as big as new structures but actually i want to be clear that i’m not taking that exact

Opinion here i also feel like we could do an amazing job if we just take the existing minecraft structure size you know average uh they’re pretty small a desert temple is actually quite large by average um but if we add a whole ton of new small structures we can also make

Minecraft more interesting that way instead of having to have four variants of the bastion or having uh you know six variants of the village what if instead um you know of having six variants of the desert temple there were just six types of temple right now there is a

Desert temple there’s a jungle temple technically the witch hut is a swamp temple but we’re gonna leave that off to the side what if we could also find a mesa temple what if we could also find a uh you know snowy tundra temple oh it would be uh frosty and the entrance

Would be icy and you’d find strays in there like crazy but the rewards could be worthwhile wow i sure want that what about you um every single biome that is lacking structures could have some variant of the existing ones and that way we could make minecraft biomes feel more unique and more interesting

Minecraft needs a structure update and that is the reason why ultimately rather than spending all of this time updating biomes one by one you know we went for the underwater then we went for villages then we went for the never then we went for underground and those are all great

Updates the last few major themed updates have been wonderful but rather than trying to just fix the problem with these snowy tiger bind trying to make that a more interesting place rather than trying to just fix the problem with the jungle biome which they did rather

Than just trying to fix all of these problems individually there are so many minecraft biomes i feel like a structure update is a way to either make all of the existing structures more consistent and interesting or if they really do believe that every single structure that exists right now like the nether the

Reason the never fortress has been updated is because it’s so important for legacy minecraft if that is the case maybe instead what we could see is we could see them go okay all existing structures exist but we’re using it as an opportunity to add a whole ton more

And to make sure everywhere has the structures it needs i mean take underground for example i love the new caves found in caves and cliffs both part one and parts i mean part one doesn’t really have new caves but i love the new caves and cliffs found in the

Caves and cliffs update fun fact but i feel like uh when you look at the stronghold and the mine shop it’s sad that they haven’t been updated and it’s also sad that they’re not adding a single new underground structure to 1.18 uh obviously there’s the geode in 1.17

But is that even a structure i would argue it’s kind of something else entirely it would be cool if there were new unique challenges underground in these big caves specifically to make you find them it would be cool if there were new structures and loots that go beyond

Just the vague idea of the warden cabin we’ve heard about so far and so yeah i actually wanted to use this opportunity not just to say we need a structure update but actually to point out how a structure update could go because um obviously uh you know i can spend a

Whole 19 minute video talking exclusively about oh yeah a structure would be cool here shocks would be cool there update the desert temple update the jungle temple make every structure more interesting isn’t a very controversial opinion except the desert well the desert well is perfect the way

It is and it doesn’t need any changes because water inside of a desert is already reward enough for finding this thing and i will not accept opinions to the contra of contrary but anyway so uh yeah the uh the thing i wanted to do here is i wanted to provide an

Interesting look into what i think makes a good structure versus a badge structure and so how they could update existing structures to make them fit the new good criteria because i think when you look at the ruined portal and you look at the bastion minecraft’s two most recent structures again assuming you

Don’t count the geode which most people don’t um if you look at these two structures you get a really good idea of how they are doing structures much better than they did before so the roman portal provides three things to you one is that it teaches new players about a

Brand new mechanic before the room portal existed something like 66 percent of players had never been to the nether in survival and although some of those players a lot of them probably did know a lot of minecraft people were blown away and genuinely did probably think the neverupdate added the never to the

Game for the first time which is funny to think about but it’s genuinely true lots of people don’t have access to the same information and resources that you presumably do and so having the game itself teach you about things is great the ruin portal is something that seeing

Enough of them will teach you how to go to the nether because it also gives you flint and steeler you know it gives you the ingredients and the resources to tell you what’s in the nether as well as telling you how to get there i think that’s wonderful so the structure both

Has new knowledge for new players while also fitting into the lore of the world so that means that if you’re an existing player you don’t look at it and go ah why is the game trying to teach me how to make a ruined portal i know how to

Make a nether portal i’ve been there before mojang no you look at it and you go wow it’s a you know the the the way that the never and the overworld exists clearly they used to be linked and all the portals have now been destroyed there’s extra law in there for older

Players and then the laura in there for new players is just oh that’s how you go to the nether it teaches you about something while adding law and that is incredible by itself but then the second thing that it does is it has some reason

For you to go there even once you know about their existence i mean once you find your first one and your second one and your third one for most structures it’s like yeah i’m as good as done as i can be in a world but the loot is good

Enough in a ruined portal that you will keep coming back to try it but more however it’s not game-breakingly good it’s not like i’d know the end cities where you just get enchanted diamond tools all over the place which i guess have been balanced by the addition of

Never right now but like it’s not insanely overpowered because it is just gold stuff of enchantments as well as iron and you know it’s resources that will help but it’s not resources that will ruin the curve of the game and so the loot manages to thread the needle

Perfectly of being interesting enough to grab but not being so useful that not getting one feels like you’re being robbed in that way unless you’re speed running in in some cases but still it works out for all players and so the loot the second point really is

Wonderful and the third thing that makes it wonderful is the fact that it has multiple variants which genuinely change your interaction with it sometimes you find giant ruined portals which are interesting not just because they look you know massive and i i see so many people post screenshots but they’re like

Whoa i didn’t know you could get ruined portals this big that’s cool that is a sign that their exploration their discovery was so big they had to share with the internet and of course most people should know that they’re this big by now but that’s if you play a lot of

Minecraft if you’re playing on your just your 10th world ever it’s still cool that you can find a rune portal that will blow your mind that’s amazing so the other thing that makes them interesting is they will change your interaction with the structure finding a ruined portal is not as simple as loot

The chest uh fill the portal it can be more complex because some of them have lava underneath which you can use to make a portal some of them have multiple ruined portal entrances that you can work out which one you’re going to use some of them have a lot of crying

Obsidian which you can take um and use that to make yourself a respawn anchor uh there is so many different things you can do of a rim portal and those different variants genuinely change it so to simplify those three things down law loots and variants every structure

Needs to nail those three things the loot doesn’t need to be direct in the form of a chest because again the chest is kind of a old-school way of doing things it can be much more indirect like the pillager tower is really good at the law it’s the place where pillagers come

From and they do their raids from it’s really good with the loots because you can go there for a crossbow sure but you’re mostly going there to start a pillager raid by killing their captain but it does a pretty questionable job when it comes to the variants because

Obviously it comes in just one form and it can sometimes jenner on hills to be pretty tall however on the inside it’s always going to be exactly the same you’re fighting your way to the top and there isn’t too much more you have to do about that again it’d be more

Interesting if maybe had different variant blocks on the outside or different layouts on the inside one of those two things would have been great but still the pillager tower is a much better example of a structure than say for example the current jungle temple because the jungle temple law is kind of

Mixed up and confusing there are traps inside the jungle for some reason they’ve got the only source of mojang placed redstone in the game i naturally generated although it’s not clear why and how it was placed there again maybe there’s something interesting there but i’ve never you know been inspired by the

Jungle temple uh the loots of it are not that great there are two chests one of which you can find by itself and one of which is behind a lever puzzle and realistically the only thing that makes this place interesting is the fact that you can obviously get better and better

At fighting it and then way after you learn about that first chest you learn about the second one um but as far as variants go no every jungle temple is exactly the same as far as loots go yeah you might get bamboo here if you kind of

Need that but otherwise uh it’s just two pretty random loot chests i’m never excited for a jungle table chest and as far as the lore goes it’s not so great so in my opinion the pillager tower is greater than the uh you know obviously than the jungle temple but the bastion

Is a much better structure than either of those two because it does variance perfectly it does loot great not just in terms of what you can find in those chests but in terms of the piglens and the piglen brutes and also the law is on point because it signifies uh where

These mobs spawn in the nether and it gives you a place to find them as well as teaching you about them because if you try to mine some of that gold they have lying around they’ll teach you a lesson pretty darn quickly and so yeah i feel like more structures if they just

Take into account these three things they would go really great whether that’s new structures which is uh you know a way that you could do it while preserving all of those old beautiful structures like the desert well the witch hut and the igloo which again all beautiful uh perfect structures but

Otherwise i would say uh you know looking at things you can see that like yeah the stronghold right now really is lame that it’s always the same it should perhaps vary with the height that it goes to maybe it could be made of deep slave maybe when you get super super low

Down it’s got some magma blocks in there and maybe when it’s super close to the surface it actually will generate with an actual entrance into there so that some strongholds are immediately findable again make it rare but like an interesting thing that can happen and so yeah that’s that’s how the stronghold

Could be made more interesting also give the stronghold better loot than just having the whole end portal that makes the end of the game work i’m honestly joking that uh but yeah i feel like every structure could do with a massive improvement and the reason that i think

This is more likely than just a fanciful oh they didn’t update the never fortress for some reason and i’m assuming they’re not just you know like thinking oh it’s perfect because no one thinks the net fortress is perfect is because think about archaeology everyone’s favorite cut feature from minecraft 1.18

Archaeology was effectively having new structures that you the player have to uncover and this uh new mechanic of having to find your own structures uh was going to add so many different structures to the game as well as giving more lore to them as well as giving

Weird loots that you can find for doing the thing as well as of course being tons of different variants the new archaeology mechanic was going to follow all these things but it could also tie into all of the existing structures if they did it in just the right way you

Could have a structure update that included archaeology that included all these other things and that is why my dream for 1.19 is the structures update i don’t know if i’m correct i feel like the community opinion is definitely leaning towards an end update whether

That will be true or not we will have to find out um on saturday at minecon live 2021 uh but all i can tell you with absolute certainty is that i think we need a structure update and i hope you all enjoyed my master thesis on why if
