Minecraft 1.16.5 Survival Let’s Play #40 – Blackstone Tower

Well that can’t be good can it i thought i’d fix this this is really not good right go see what’s going on you’ll look and get out my way as well hello everyone my name is enva and welcome back to another episode from the single player survival world

And as you saw from that little clip i had a bit of a problem somehow gas are getting through this portal right here into the overworld there obviously is a gap because i’ve done this roof yet but the problem is there shouldn’t be anywhere that can spawn anyway we’re

Skipping ahead because i haven’t shown this bit yet at the end of the last episode i think we just left this room here and i didn’t have this staircase so this is what i’ve been working on a little bit between episodes and this is all either glass slabs or

Stairs so there’s literally nowhere that a gas could spawn i don’t understand where the spawning up here as well this is all either glass or slabs stairs or we have uh gold pressure plates on top of the blocks here i’m really doubting myself now because there shouldn’t be anywhere that can spawn

Unless it is on this ice i don’t know if that is a thing i may have to figure that out but anyway i definitely need to get this room finished and make sure there isn’t a gap big enough for a gas to go through but for now

Let’s have a look at this so this is the little afk room i’ve built and i have actually been using this as an afk room as well used to use this in xp mode like this so swipe away at them get the xp but then when it’s in this one i used to

Fly up but because i did so much spawn proofing last time this is working absolutely brilliantly so i tend to just come here now and i did a long afk session i got a ton of gold and i was battering all the way through that as well and

I got an absolute ton of stuff the battering sorting system is working absolutely brilliantly now and the gold is coming flowing back in as well so we’re doing really really good but we are actually going to take a break from this today i’m not going to get this finished off yet

Because what i actually want to do is back in the overworld at the other side of this portal okay so back in the overworld in the badlands now and this area is starting to come together i’m excited to get a little bit happy with this so

We’ve got a few cool builds this bridge for one definitely this nether portal and then the village we built a couple of episodes ago with the big factory on the super smelter but there is one big thing that needs sorting and it’s this it’s not that big but you know

It’s going to be big once i finish so we have a floating nether bottle in the sky and the reason for that is because this links to the one that is above the nether ceiling so any lower than this i think actually it’s even one block lower than this

It won’t work it’ll sink to the portal that that one seems to so that’s no good it does need to be at this height now i’m hoping i can move it along a little bit because i would like it centered on where this bridge is but what we’re

Going to do as it’s at this height i’m going to extend this bridge further along here now i don’t know if i’m going to keep this is like a road going that way and then have something built above it but either way there is going to be

A huge tower built here and it is going to be in a similar style to the nether portal but we’re also going to incorporate some of the things that we’ve done in the nether as well so namely the quartz blocks and obviously all the things that we can craft from that

And then the gold as well so it’s going to be very very fancy this thing and it’s going to be very tall because it needs to go at least to where that glass is up there but it’s probably going to go a few blocks higher

So we can have a fancy apollo up there as well so i need to do a little bit of planning now and figure out exactly where this is gonna go okay so the first thing i need to test is if i can move this nether bottle

So it is central with this bridge now i’m 99 sure that that is the case it should be okay but i need to test it let’s just build this out here a bit we’ll put a bigger nether portal in the middle we’re always at the middle i’ll explore right to me

There’s go five wide let’s do a big one now as we’re doing it in the overworld side i am pretty confident this is going to be all right so actually we’ll use the edge of that one there and then just bring it across the top and

Give this a go now have i got a clinton steel on me probably not okay so now i finally got that let’s give this a test all right you lit that’s the first job done and i don’t think that’s i don’t think i’ve censored that right away no that’s nowhere near let’s try

That again okay i think that looks about right now so let’s give this a try and we should go to the portal at the gold farm now this isn’t the one i’m worried about but going back maybe a bit different so let’s see what happens okay so those are sinking up that’s brilliant

So i can get rid of this one now and then this is going to be the top floor of my tower okay so started that up a little bit and i’ve just put a couple of silica boxes down because i’m gonna need some black stone in a second

Because the first job i’ve got is to extend this bridge a little bit what i want to do is have this tower directly below this nether portal this isn’t going to be central though because what i think i want to do is still have

The option to fly up here if i want to so this tower is going to have a bubble elevator going on the middle of it but you know what this has been here for so long and i’ve been flying up here every single time it’s going to be just habit now i’m just

Always going to come out of this ball and just fly up so it’s it’s going to be nice to have that option there but you know you should also have an option for just in case you haven’t gotten a later on like if you die or whatever so

I’ll definitely do both ways but this will probably be a thinner part of the tower but anyway before i get to that let me explain what we’re doing so i’m going to extend this road just said that and then what i want to do for the base section of this tower

Is build this exactly like this but just the front face because if we go around the side this is actually quite thin it’s we’ve got this big face on either side and then the edges are just this little small one but what i want to do is build this this whole face

In a square so we’ll have this at the front and back and also on the sides as well so that should give us a nice big chunky base to build a huge tower off the top of and then we’ll have some variation of this and the details i’ve got here

But looking a bit more extravagant so we’re going to add in some gold quartz and whatever else i think off to make it look nice and decadent but for now let’s get this road extended okay so i think i’ve got everything i need in here now and the only

Complicated part about this bridge really is the underneath but luckily as we’re up at this level i’m just going to extend this along and anything that is seen on the sides i’ll probably just build up the call state around here so we don’t have to worry too much about what’s going on under

There so we’re just going to do this top bit we’ll do the floor level and then the barrier along the edge and then it it shouldn’t be too many sections actually we just need to come fairly close to this and then we can start building up the copy of that nether portal building

Over there so let’s get on with it okay so if i remember correctly these are spaced five apart so if i just grab some of these shroom lights and a bit there as well we’ll just do these one two three four five and the shroom light same again nearly there

Four five i think that will actually do us i think if we come that far with the bridge then we should be somewhere near where we need to start building so the video i made for this bridge is by far the most popular video on my channel

And i did get asked a few times to make a tutorial for this but i never actually got around to it i’ve always wanted to do it because i thought hopefully some people found it useful but it was quite a while ago so my question is

Do you still want that tutorial let me know in the comments and if enough people want it i will definitely definitely get it done i promise we’ve definitely got a lot to do haven’t we i think it’s time for me to jump into a time lapse and get some building done Do Okay got that all built up now all four sides and that was an ordeal because this thing is so complicated to build it’s really hard to do this in survival but as you can see we’ve got it done and there are a few little variations

From this one to this one so over here i did the crown i’m sitting at the top and also in these little side parts as well but i changed up here for quartz at the top and gold over here then in the middle i’ve also added this extra quartz trim

Around this so we’ve got the black stone and then one block back is the nether brick and then one block back from there is quartz and i think this is looking pretty cool and it’s nighttime and the other thing i’ve done even after this portal being my second attempt at getting it centered

I’ve still managed to get this wrong so one thing i’m going to do this is definitely the center this is in the middle of all of these walls so i’m going to pull her up from here and i’m going to bit it off that because i clearly can’t do it by eye

I’ve had two attempts now and got it wrong so let me get up there and we’ll get that fixed okay so we’ve pulled it up and i’ve just put a gold block here which i will probably leave actually just as a mark for the center and then as you can see yeah i

Definitely definitely got this wrong so i don’t actually want it in the middle just to avoid any confusion i don’t want it there but i want it centered on this so i just need to move across one block this way but i think what i’m going to do as well

Is also move it back a couple of blocks that way i probably still need to mark out where the rest of this tile is going to go but i think it makes sense if i built this room at the top first and then i can design the tower around that that sounds

Like a plum doesn’t it right let me get this portal moved and we’ll do a little decorating up here okay so i’ve got a little quartz platform here now i think i want to do is surround this with blackstone apart from on the edge where the nether portal is going to go

So we’ll just do on these three sides and then on that side closest to the other end of the portal is that’s that’s where this portal is going to go so just do this like this and then do a how obsidian yes i actually have the thing i want for a change

So that’s the center that is definitely the center and we’ll get it right this time okay so should we do a fairly tall portal let’s do a square actually let’s go one two three four five and then another one on top light it up okay so right first thing let’s give this a

Test make sure this is still all right and yes so right those both working brilliant okay so from here on a platform at this side that i can fly on to so let’s just break a little bit and this is probably gonna be black stone as well because it’s

It’s basically going to be outside uh what should i do should we go let’s go three out and then we i think what i want to do after i’ve done this on all the sides is make this a bit of a circle i like that because this is going to go quite far

Above this as well so i do want to make this look a little bit fancier just mark out where this is i’ll get rid of that glass in a minute and then we’ll do here as well and if i do just do something like that yeah that’s going to look pretty good so

We’ll go all the way along in and then same on this last side yeah so that’s three and then if we no let’s not raise it what’s up in there right i think this one yeah that’s the first black stunt so i’ve actually done four on this side so let’s get rid of

This actually no that’s too small let’s do let’s do four right so let me get this finished off and we’ll have a look in a second okay so from back here this is looking pretty good i think that’s gonna have a good shape to it so if we just come out

Fairly small and then like taper out towards the top that could look pretty good so from on top of here i think what i want to do is have something like the walls going up from here so if we just went straight up with the black stone

As a start i think maybe like that and then so that’s what’s that that’s three block so we’ve got another two blocks directly out from that so if we just taper out a little bit as we go up i think that could definitely look pretty cool

Well let’s just have a quick look up here at what we’ve been doing so which went four blocks out from this quartz blur here and then i’m gonna have some kind of little design on the outside as well so maybe to frame this i’ll have like some

Stairs going up and then the black stone on here but not entirely sure yet and i do know one thing for certain the chances of me being able to build this whilst talking are absolutely zero so i think to get this finished off we’ll jump into one final time-lapse and get it built Do Do Okay there it is and it definitely fits the brief of using only another material so let’s go have a closer look at this thing we started with this base that’s just a copy of that over there and then we built this crazy tower on top so let’s have a fly up

And have a look these quartz bits here were originally going to be blackstone but i thought i just needed something a little bit different obviously i’ve got another portal here i’ve already seen this bit with a massive shulker boxes i still need to do the interiors i’ve got a few

Bits going on but it’s not that bad actually if i if i just block a bit off the top and obviously get rid of that that should work pretty well the roof just above this somewhere will never really go but i wanted some where is it something a bit dramatic and i didn’t

Want to do like a peak room for anything was like a flat roof so i thought i’d just go mad with a few spikes and then top them off with the brick walls and i think this looks pretty good but it’s well lit up we’ll definitely

Not get any spawns up here and most of it slabs and stairs anyway so yeah i think that has gone very well but there is one thing i haven’t done and this is pretty crucial because the whole point of this was to contain that nether portal up there so i

Wasn’t flying up all the time but i literally have no other way of getting up there other than flying outside so that’s what i need to do now let’s get up to the top and we’ll sort out a bubble elevator and the slight little problem with this tower is

I’ve definitely gone for far more of a function i didn’t really think about where i was going to put a bubble elevator in this i think what i actually want to do is just dig down from here and go straight up the middle because as you can see this part

Is actually quite narrow so if this is the outside wall so to go the other side of that will be outside so that’s no good what we’re gonna do i think we can make this look pretty cool if we have this with glass panes just surrounding this i think that’ll

Look pretty good so let me make a little start on this what i want here is a magma block and then obviously once we have a bubble elevator on here that is going to bring us down from the top now i don’t normally like the magma blocks i normally just have the sulsan

Ones going up and then i usually have it like a water drop coming down or just a way to fly down but i thought let’s do something a little bit different for a change so what i’m thinking here is we’re gonna run in from this side there’s going to be a pressure plate

Here and then or maybe here actually and then it’ll activate some pistons that’ll push this across so we’ll have in here i’ll have the soul sand we’re going to have a piston there get up there i think is that right yeah and they’ll have another piston there so those will get

Pushed across and then after a brief moment of time they’ll get pushed back now this is very very simple but the only tricky bit is making sure you leave enough time for that sultan to take you all the way up to the top and then once you get to the top

It’ll move back across so next time you need to use it you can just come down or more than likely i’ll will probably just fly down so we’ll get the redstone in first and then we’ll figure out how we’re going to design this thing okay so i’ve been playing around with

This for a little bit now and i realized after far too long the there’s a much simpler way of doing this that i completely forgot about i used this design in 1.13 when these bubble elevators first came out and i completely forgot about it but it’s really really simple so

Above this block here we have a pressure plate and there’s redstone dust beneath that that goes into a repeater and then that just goes into a delay clock what we’ve got is a sticky piston attached to two slime blocks and that has got the two blocks for swapping

Above those so all happens is when we stand on that pressure plate it pushes across and then when this delay clock runs out it’ll pull back so hopefully that’ll give us enough time just to get up to the top but we’ll give that a test after we’ve got it all built obviously

And then if not we can just add a couple more comparisons or take some away if necessary this is much simpler than what i was thinking but what we need to do is put some blocks around here to contain the water now i did say i was going to use glass pins

But i’ve actually decided to go with the glass blocks instead i think that’s going to look better so where’s my gold on i think at the bottom it’s either going to be gold or blackstone i’m not entirely sure yet so the water is gonna be there and then

Once we stumble there that swaps what’s going on there if i broke something all right that way that time let’s try again then i’ll run into that and i’ll set me up right okay so on top of that we’re gonna have glass but then i think here

We’re gonna need some more blocks as well why is that doing that all right this is being a bit weird i’ll figure that out in a second because first i want to get this built so we’re gonna have the blocks like that okay i couldn’t leave it alone i had to

Figure that out i think the problem was it’s because i had a gold pressure plate here it the signal just wasn’t strong enough i thought repeaters might fix that but unfortunately not so i’ve swapped it out for a wooden one and we’re using the waltz wood because that’s

What i wanted to use in here anyway because we’ve got a little bit of that outside i thought i’d bring some of that in here when we eventually get some of the interiors done but this is just a little nod towards what i’m going to be doing there

So and then i’ve also put the fence gates in here and this is what’s going to hold the water back so now this is working great so what’s going to happen is i’ll run in here across this pressure plate into here and then as you can see that swaps out for

The soul sand and then there’s quite a long delay and then it’ll swap back to a magma block it is quite a long time actually so it may be way longer than i need but it’s quite far up so hopefully that will work so now i just need to get the glass and

The water in and we’re pretty much done because i’m going to leave the interiors for today i don’t think i’ve got to have time to do that but i definitely want to get this bubble elevator in so let’s get on with that okay so that is now all in

I didn’t have enough white glass to do the corners but we got enough in to hold the water back so that is the main thing and this is working i’ve got the water in and i use the kelp to turn it all into water source blocks so now

If we run across this pressure plate and give this a little test you see this goes into the soul sand and pushes it straight up to the top and this is nowhere near as far as i thought it was so i definitely think that we need to adjust those timings

Because as you can see this is still pushing me up if you just wait a few seconds that has disappeared and now the magma block is pulling us down so definitely need to adjust those timings but it’s not a big deal to be honest because you’re not gonna go up and then come

Straight back down anywhere but this is working pretty good and i think it looks alright for now but we do have a few more things to do in here so obviously you need to get these corners finished a few bits up there definitely lighting up there as well because it’s really

Dark but we’ll definitely get that done next time because i have run out of time for today but i think for now i’m definitely gonna have to leave it there there’s been a ton of progress made here and i think this is a great addition to this area
