MINECRAFT 1.17 GRIMSTONE BIOME? | SNAPSHOT 21W07A (New Ore Generation)

Do Do Okay i’m here hello welcome new week new snapshot how’s everybody doing shall we get into this so we have some fun well setting up you got to give me a chance to set up dudes there’s so many cool things this week that you’re going to enjoy like this just gets better and better

I thought last week had peaked nah dude it’s gonna get a lot better i’m gonna take the time to go through uh the official change log which is down below but today’s snapshot is 21w07a 21 stands for the year the w stands for week zero seven is the week we’re in we’re in

Week seven of 2021 and it’s the first snapshot of its kind hello welcome there’s a lot of people in here today there’s a lot of cool things a lot of cool things to go through so let’s not waste any time and let’s go through everything we need to know

So again chainsaw is down below but as you guys can see minecraft snapshot 21w07a a minecraft java snapshot another passes by another snapshot enters the launcher we hope that you’ve been enjoying exploring the new caves since last week this week we’re adding grimstone along with doing some changes

And tweaks happy mining added grimstone now i’ve called it like a grimstone biome because when you see how it generates it’s kind of like a biome grimstone is basically blackstone but in the overworld it says grimstone can be found in the deepest parts of the underground and is slightly tougher to mine than

Normal stone like blackstone grimstone can be used to craft basic tools venices and brewing stands you can craft the following blocks with this new stone type so you’ve got grimstone slab brimstone stairs grimstone wall polished grimstone polished grimstone slab polished grimstone stairs grimstone wall bricks brick slab brick stairs brick wall

Tiles tile slab tile stairs tile wall and grimstone the chiseled variation changes in 21w07a tweaks and updates to the world generation and ores and that’s quite an interesting one guys because some of the ores have been changed the textures of some of the ores i think all of them actually

Have changed dudes i i’m pretty sure all the textures of ores have changed i mean being the overworld ones changes to visuals of some of the ores and stone types reordered redstone tab in the creative inventory let’s get into world generation guys i i can’t emphasize this enough this is the first

Iteration they said there’s gonna be like a couple of iterations until they get it perfect um it says their minecraft 1.17 first iteration so expect or generation and things like this to change to be tweaked so make sure you guys give your feedback tweaked huge caves to be more rare and

Decreased the chance that caves are filled with water yeah they are filled with water a lot changed all generation to match the new world height and to add more strategy to mining tweaked size of positioning of diorite andesite and granite generation exception diorite and granite and dirt no longer generate below y

Zero okay so as soon as you hit y zero everything below is no longer gonna be direct granite or dirt interesting guys strongholds are now mostly encased in stone mine shaft corridors are now support supported by log pillars below or chains above when needed that’s an interesting one

So we have a picture here i open this in a i i’ve got a picture here to show you guys so this is the first iteration guys in terms of generation now i’m colorblind so just bear with me two seconds while i grab this picture

Because i want to see how it looks two seconds guys come on save image i want to get a better picture of this we’re just going through the chain slot guys don’t forget it’s my first preview of this so i don’t know how it works yeah

Mine shafts are being held up by chains yes sprout you are correct okay i’ve got the image i just want to see if we can make it a little bit bigger see Okay that makes that let’s go to about here um okay so there’s a lot to learn here down to where the diamonds spawn so diamonds are still looking so that’s not final that’s 1.16 this is 1.17 so diamonds can spawn it looks like regular level but all the way down to the bottom

Redstone looks like normal level all the way down to the bottom but i have another i have another picture about this to share with you guys so don’t worry um visuals ors without unique shapes have been given new textures for accessibility reasons so that each ore is distinguishable by shape alone

Being the most iconic all diamond or texture is staying the same to keep that classic feel maintained so diamond hasn’t changed blackstone polish blackstone bricks and cracked polished blackstone bricks have had some minor touch-ups so blackstone has even changed as well let me be an image here oh here you go

I don’t like that though so these things will change i don’t know if you guys can see it but it says soon so this is how things look in the grimstone now and this is how they’re gonna look so ores will blend in so this is is that

What does that mean then two iterations two types of ores but the same ore don’t know so it’s the blend in can we start now dude i need to understand this all right it’s the first time i’m checking this out so for me to understand it

Other biomes like lush caves drip stone caves you’ll be able to generate there too it’s just that the deep dark can only be found below y zero grimstone is its natural stone so grimstone is gonna kind of make up the deep dark as well i like it all right guys i’m gonna stop

I found some really really cool ones last time there you go this might be a little bit of a of a better one so what i showed you guys before you see how like this doesn’t really work with this however that is some of the new wars

Let’s get a better visual experience of these ores shall we dudes get a better visual experience of how these balls have changed there’s no changes to emerald though i’m not sure why emerald wasn’t in there a little bit of a closer look so copper’s actually finally changed

Don’t like the gold ore and grimstone you don’t like i know i’m not i know this one’s like a it’s like a it’s like a it’s like a reject version of uh bedrock isn’t it for sure gold in the nether gold in the stone we didn’t get the old generation though

They don’t really fit very well you know my brightness my brightness should be already it’s already up turn it up bro my brightness is already up full brightness i don’t know redstone just looks sad it looks like a sad sandstone i’m curious as to how they’re gonna stop so many mobs spawning

I know they’ve got lichen but it doesn’t really do because i think they changed them some of the other textures as well guys is that a change to andersite sure that is copper original texture it didn’t change you just haven’t noticed it okay okay okay so it didn’t change it just looks like

It’s changed are you sure oh let’s go and see what a mine shaft looks like though we also need to try and find a mine shaft that’s exposed in one of these biomes that’s that’s wild bro we’ve been so used to seeing mine shafts encased in um regular stone andesite diorite

I kind of like it though i kind of like the vibe that this brings they said i thought they said what level are we on level negative 42. what they said doesn’t generate this slow down what are you lying for yeah mine shafts do look dope bro feels weird not gonna lie

I kind of like it though it’s like a weird kind of kind of vibe we need to find an exposed mine shaft over the biome that room um it’s a mine shaft isn’t it so we’ll go over the blocks in a minute yeah yeah there’s a lot of things to go

Through this week it it’s generated with the mine shaft it’s good looks good the lag there i’m trying to find i’m trying to find one exposed guys so i can see how the chains because it says mine shafts are now held up with chains i want to see how that works

I like the i like this blend though this is something i like guys see the way it blends from stone into these i like that mine shafts generate with debt yeah i know what i’m saying is they said that dirt wouldn’t generate that low is that another one we will find one eventually

Yeah this this is nice actually really really nice it’s slowly starting to come together it is cool a lot of the a lot of the comments we get are uh are incredibly positive so that’s that’s good news so we can find an exposed mine shaft like over a ravine or something like that

And find the logs and stuff what’s that no it’s nothing oh wait wait wait wait wait wait level are we at whatever we are six see i’ve not really seen any spawners generate below why zero is anybody come on give me a mine shaft man leave me an exposed mine shaft and i’ve

They’ve said that they made some of the uh the generations a lot rarer so you’ll probably notice i missed something in chat if i missed something i’m sorry guys you probably noticed that um there’s a lot of you guys here so some of the bigger biomes are a lot

Rarer like last week we were finding the massive open cave biomes this week not so much that’s live i like that yeah i think once they change the ores though like yeah they need once they change the oils it’d be it’ll be a nice five come on give me the mine shaft dudes

I’m gonna show peeps how it looks there there we go we found one here we go guys look so here is your new so-called mine shaft generation so mine shafts now generate with logs to keep them up and chains to hold them up as well so hopefully we’ll find some better

We’re gonna do the locate stronghold i know man come on bro playing this game 10 years well these are gonna look cool so yeah some reason why i call it a grimstone biome but i don’t think they called it that called it a biome because it’s gonna be linked to the deep dark

Just just for reference yeah the geodes dude the lego mini planets any fish here no fish no fish all right so the stronghold looks cause they said they did some changes to the strongholds they said they were mostly being cased in uh in stone so last week they were let’s say wait

What level are we at dude is this like a really deep down oh here’s the room let’s see what this what level this spawns at negative 38 okay man gotta go to negative thirty this is gonna ruin so many speed runs it’s gonna be like a slow run

Would it be called like a semi biome or a side biome yeah avoid cats but i think the reason why they’ve not named it the grimstone biome is because it’s linked to it’s like a yeah like a side biome it’s gonna ruin it it’s not a biome king

B dog said yeah yeah because it’s linked to the deep dark uh what level is the blending of biomes out it’s like y it’s like y zero it’s like y zero you know when you let’s go up a little bit you wanna see when we start blending

It’s like y zero is when they start blending see if we can find anything higher than this oh look so yeah zero see zero so then when you get past zero you see how it starts to blend the biomes so your your regular uh let’s say top

Going all the way down is going to be the same minecraft it’s usually underneath where things start to change because that’s where the biomes start to get deeper but darker scarier but yeah they did definitely make uh firearm generation below why zero a lot harder to find like i’m

Not firing as many open caves as as we was all right let’s go and check out the blocks we’ll do a little bit more exploring in a bit but i want to show you guys the the blocks that we have so yeah this is this is not going to

Ladies and gentlemen so the first thing i want to do here is the comparison between grimstone and regular stone and let’s just grab a couple of pickaxes here let’s go with uh a wooden pick a stone pick and iron and diamond so according to the official change log

According to the official change log grimstone is a lot tougher than stone so we’re gonna see how long it takes to mine this stuff this is a new stone variation it acts the same way as regular stone but which one’s a little bit of comparison so we’ll start with regular stone

No i’m probably just the best off doing it like this oh man there’s actually uh a significant difference how many seconds we saying that is guys one two maybe one point five two seconds one two three two three to four there’s a significant difference there for sure there’s a significant difference dude

And i just realized dude this will slow down speed runs because when you start if you find a mine shaft that features grimstone you’re just screwed bro maybe i’m saying a little bit fast yeah probably but let’s move to a better pick maybe i’m just saying it too fast

Okay let’s go to this one yeah there’s a significant difference dude i would say iron’s a pretty common tool uh iron picks pretty common i feel like i feel like as fast as you combine this is as fast as this combined so like a stone on stone is like using an iron

It’s absolute madness and then we got this one i like this one a lot i never used to care about blocks in minecraft but dude honestly if the pascal updates i like this one a lot i can see this being really popular for building aspects

Works so let’s grab a couple of stacks of these uh stone cutters gonna be an interesting one stone cutter let’s see let’s see so by default put this in the stone cutter you can get the chiseled the grimstone slab grimstone stairs and grimstone walls right crafting table crafting table four equals polished grimstone

Anything with a full one so how on earth do i get the brick how on earth do i get this was that was the grimstone brick in here maybe we need a couple of these or maybe maybe we need a couple of slabs too figure out how you make these guys grimstone tiles

How how we think can we make this stuff smelt it good idea oh crap uh fairness try both we’re not gonna be doing the blast but uh the blasphemous stuff but i’ll try it smelt it let’s do it brimstone nope can’t be smelted i try to smelt it not possible

What else would you guys think maybe smell the polished don’t know how to get the bricks i mean get the that’s how you get the uh the chiseled variation no you can’t smelt it but anyway while we’re just figuring this out guys um just so you’re aware uh this stuff as well guys

This stuff being grimstone can be used to make this it’s basically um blackstone polished in us a good idea polished in here good idea good idea let’s try it no no dude it doesn’t no it doesn’t polish variation doesn’t go in there this doesn’t go in there

Since you’re on the wiki it’s not going to be on the wiki bro uh with grimstone biome please mojang add big brain anyway um by the way guys yeah so like i said this can be used to make a brewing stand and it can also be used to make your

Tools so it’s exactly like stone one thing i would like to do here though is maybe make like a a slight different blend you know like like no but it can be used to make pickaxe sword shovel axe gotta get them hoes we tried to smelt in the blast finish we

Try to smelt it in an ordinary furnace didn’t work in the crafting table you could craft grindstone tiles blocks did it say that i’m gonna grab a bunch of these i legit have no idea dude there’s no block for it dude all polished it’s not trust me bro i’ve tried it’s not

New recipes were learned unknown recipe what do you guys what does that mean does that mean it’s not added yet yeah it’s gotta be dude it’s gotta not be added yet it mustn’t be there uh we’re trying to get this one brimstone no no no that’s a lie this one

I tried to smelt a couple of things though don’t put that inside of there can’t put this inside of there i’ll put this inside of there no recipe yet baby didn’t have it yet wasn’t added okay i think we’ll clarify that okay so let me go for

A couple more things in this change log i’ve already showed i’ve already showed you guys this is how this is the new textures and uh this one is the new generation in terms of how it works but it’s not final so if we zoom in a little bit if i

Can see this properly i don’t know what that one says but obviously these are going to be used for mountains so just for reference guys coal is going to be all the way up here all the way down coal will not generate below y level zero and emeralds of course will will not

At this point coal will not generate any any lower coal will not generate down here right so as soon as you hit the zero call will not generate but again these are subject to change and are probably gonna change so you’re not gonna find coal all the way

Down here which i think is gonna be quite tough and then when it comes to iron irons gonna generate to about here is that iron there dude is that iron that is iron right so that’s iron so iron ore i don’t think we’re gonna find any iron ore below these levels

So the lowest point that we found iron so this being iron is negative uh 14 gold it’s all the way up there and lapis i don’t know i’m still learning it lapis height where whip where the lapis is gonna stop a little bit further down as well i think most people

Are interested in diamond level though but i already said that diamonds can still generate at regular levels so if you didn’t want to go this far down you don’t technically have to for diamonds redstones yeah what level is this negative 26. gold is still here negative 23.

Copper is there as well i’m colorblind so i couldn’t really tell the colors i’m sorry my bad i’m i’m sorry no that’s copper that’s a copper that’s iron bro i’m not that stupid oh you mean on the chart my bad dude sorry my bad yeah yeah again i’m colorblind so that’s just me

Being stupid uh diamonds so look at this one so diamond generation negative 32 but diamond’s generation is going to be still at your regular diamond level which can be like let’s say this level a little bit lower what level do people usually mine diamonds for i’m usually like 11 12.
