Minecraft 1.18 | Let’s Play – Episode 3 | First Cave Exploration

Hello this is samadan and we are on an adventure in minecraft we are currently playing the experimental snapshot 2 for minecraft 1.18 and in our last adventure we had a little exploration around the area where we spawned and saw a fair amount of stuff but it looks like we’re

On a collection of islands so in this episode we’re gonna go down and explore the caves underneath here to see if we can find some new features from the caves and cliffs update and see what that looks like at first we have a couple of things to do

We need to sleep and we also need some food some we might go and harvest that wheat and here we are ready for our next day so we have a fair amount of things here we need to just deal with let’s put on our armor we have a sword

Ready we have a shield we have lots of torches we’re going to need lots of torches where we’re going we’ll keep the pickaxes we’ll keep the wood as well that’s going to be useful let’s get rid of some of the cobblestone keep the iron there got one bucket might be worth having a

Second one we’ll leave it for now though first but what we do need is some food so let’s go over and do our wheat area and let’s see if we can harvest oops that’s completely the wrong button to press there we go we got a bit overzealous though we harvested everything

We did get 11 wheat out of that which is good let’s plant the rest of the stuff and let that grow again there we go perfect so with our wheat let’s go have a look see what we can use we should be able to make ourselves some bread

A couple of seeds back in here you also have our sugar cane here which we could do with planting at some point that’s for another adventure though so food we have bread how much bread can we make three loaves not a huge amount that’s two gone already okay well let’s take an

Apple with this as well and put the wheat back there so we could always fish there’s lots of fish here we could probably do something there we can look for other sources of food there’s obviously some animals we did see some cows further over to the left here

Don’t particularly want to kill too many animals if we can just keep our crops going for the moment that would be useful so hopefully that’ll keep us going for a little while let’s take our crafting table and maybe our bed with us we don’t know we don’t know how long and

How far we’re going to go down here so let’s take all those with us so we have a few bits some supplies to keep us to keep us alive okay let’s do the next stage off on our next adventure nothing in there that’s currently useful we’ll leave that there right okay down

To the cave system so in the first episode we dug all this out took quite a while but it’s great fun we can obviously carry on with our quarry we can go further and further down but this is a good position for us to at least

Explore here so right click block i need to remember that and let’s have a look what do we have here so down first down here was a dead end i remember that uh we can hear some things have spawned now so that’s interesting there’s something deep and dark down there

Let’s go to the left let’s see what we see there’s something i see something down there that’s going to take us down a fair amount don’t know what’s down beyond here so move on down now we’re keeping everything to the left i get quite scared with caves i’m not gonna lie

This is gonna be interesting to say the least right this looks like a dead end so we can mark this up as such and work our way back up so following the torches along the right should take us out so yet to be explored yet to be explored let’s go down here

Okay we did go fairly far down here some lapis and oh yes i remember then we had another cave system down here which also drops down a little bit there so i don’t know what’s across the way but there’s definitely something down can we get ourselves down here a little bit further

Let’s make ourselves some steps carefully does it kind of ideally want to go across there as well don’t really want to block myself away from there to protect my back what i’m going to do is block that up a little bit there just so i know

That’s going to be safe and i can explore that a little bit later go further down what do we see further down well this looks like something new this is i believe this is deep slate which is much darker in color let’s mine some out and have a look

There we go so this is cobbled deep slate okay something new for us to think about okay so we’ll call that semi-explored at this point there’s still another bit of area over there but we’ll come back over this way load of lapis here if we need i don’t

Know if we actually need lapis so let’s go pick some up not entirely sure what it’s used for so next on the list i think this one’s probably our next safest option well i say safe safe is a relative term looks like it’s more open certainly

And goes a little bit further here so we have some coal we have another area up here let’s just mark our area oh skeleton oh that scared me okay you can block that’s good i think that’s probably the safest i can do things that was scary okay what else do we have here

That goes down again okay up and down it goes right let’s make sure we have a escape plan available to us which we should have and it looks like another dead end okay now that my heart rate has recovered from that first foray into combat i think we survived that okay that was

Good we’ve marked that with scattered arrows everywhere we probably have do we have any stuck in us at the moment no i think we’re safe phew okay so further on we have a larger cave area here let’s look we’ve got some coal and some iron off there in the distance

Mark up my area i’ll be very generous with my torch placement simply because it’s quite frightening and there’s a is there a drop down there there’s something down there and there’s something over might go that way as well let’s walk across okay so this is free and empty that’s fine so in order

To get back up here now this is where it’s easy to get turned around so if i mark this as the way up and i can follow my way along the right hand there and i’ll mark this down as the exit right two directions that one’s a bit

More glowy than the other one so let’s go just to the left let’s try and uncover work oh skeleton i saw that comes around somewhere there he is trying to shoot at us is there a way to get to us here looks like a big cavern

I think he’s trying to get up here oh and a zombie okay oh i saw him jump there pathing wise they’re trying and a spider as well okay that looks fairly dangerous in a way i kind of want to just uh the spider’s coming up quick oh and something fell on me what

Was that okay okay it’s all blocked we have a torch was that gravel the gravel it fell down did the spider do that okay phew let’s see well we’re safe for now that’s blocked off this is scary work definitely so i couldn’t easily walk in there without causing more problems so we’ll leave

That one and go back the other direction because there was another way down here i believe okay okay we went down there and we worked our way across that so we come and we double back on ourselves oh no we’ve got this area and that area done already okay

I see look at that the gravel just falls when you place a block on it and then completely makes it a dangerous area right now i understand how that works let’s follow this to the right we have some coal here anyway so we can at least grab that oh there’s a

Whole lot of coal off at the top as well oh and some iron there fantastic okay i need this torch up here just to shed some more light okay still very frightening but we are working our way further and further downwards okay that’s a little bit of coal let’s go get this

Iron yeah that’s more iron even brilliant okay so slightly more progress there let’s work our way back up did we see everything here so that was on the other side of the water a bit of copper there as well can i remember the way out

Just so that i know i have my bearings clear the way generally upwards would be my way out well this is on the left so that’s probably not going to take me out that’s going to take me back over and down let’s block this up just so it’s easier to

Traverse and put ourselves a torch down as you can see copious amounts of torches are required there was still this area we haven’t been down yet so that could lead down somewhere everything else we know is a dead end so it might be worth as we know this is a

Dead end to block that off we will be digging further down here anyway so that at least gives us gives us our location here as to out into the exit and then just so that i’ve got a bit more room to see and let’s clear out this area

So i know this is the entrance way okay next let’s try down here it’s steve that’s for sure there’s iron that’s good oh is that redstone i think we might have redstone here and again it goes down goes down deep a left and a right which makes it difficult to go

Turn yourself around really i think down would be better down and down we go is that a spider it looks like it’s a spider another big cavern and maybe a zombie somewhere i certainly hear it just want to check check my other area all right let’s go back up here

Because there’s a there’s an area behind me i just want to make sure that that’s safe too over here when that goes up over there right all interconnects gosh she goes on forever and this comes out somewhere else okay let’s go back and get this iron

Caving is not good for my heart i can tell you that now but this is where we get diamonds and things and this is how we explore and learn about new areas or the other way is strip mining which is a slightly safer way of doing things

Right none of this is covered yet by the looks of things also cabin area running low on torches of our first stack so before we enter that area let’s just swap out to more torches that goes up somewhere ideally lower would be better but i’m just following the trails

Because i think they’re going to win to connect anyway from the looks of things there’s more iron then that goes further down now i have a little bit turned around as to where the exit is so let’s just have a look it’s only not here because we haven’t lit this area around

Let’s just go oh gold first time we’ve got gold let’s just go a bit beyond first just so we’ve got our bases covered okay we know that this is this is safe now we can go backwards and collect our resources okay back we go should find that gold hopefully at some point

There it is now do we need an iron pickaxe for this looks like we might do do we have enough iron and we’ve got 16 nuggets so whilst we’re relatively i say relatively in the loosest sense of the word safe for now let’s grab our furnace and our crafting table

Make use of some coal and some iron leave that going still have our apple we’ll get ourselves three nuggets of that whilst that’s going we need some we got some sticks that’s okay so we can make an iron pickaxe there we go with that we can make a iron pickaxe there we go

There we go there’s an upgrade so this there we are you can pick up the gold even better new things collected right i will take this and this out for now and collect up our tools and things there we go don’t want to use my iron pickaxe for anything other than the

Essentials so i will leave that there then just backfill my area gives me an indication i’ve been there so right where were we that’s more iron up here that’s good i don’t if we can actually collect anything from that but let’s start with more iron i think that’s everything right

Well we didn’t go this way because that’s looking dark and dark and scary so if we worked our way across from there and work out what’s around here we’ll need to work out how to get out of here at some point for now i’m following my nose as it were

Some more iron okay another dead end so we’ll make use of this collect up some iron and then we can navigate our way back out again so part of this is twisting and turning a little bit where was the way out is the question left tells me not the way out right

Tells me all we had the bedrock down here didn’t we and then oh yes we had the redstone there so i think down here and out is our is our exit plan i will need to probably explore down here i think was this our big cabin yes it was

There we are so that’s that’s big cavern area a little bit of iron here let’s grab that and then redstone i’ll leave that there as a marker and then okay we have more iron here you can see this on my way down and then we’re gonna have to wiggle our

Way out of here a little bit i think let’s just fill that up so i know i’ve been i know i’ve been here because this is cobblestone this is kind of like an indicator now one would say up here oh yes i remember we jumped down from here because it wasn’t exactly even

And there was no way up so i’m going to use my cobblestone roots down here to take me out so that we know is down somewhere to save ourselves getting turned around in a way we could just maybe mark us some of this off do i know there’s something down there

Because i’ve explored it this is our way out we’ve explored here so i’m just going to close this off we’ve been there and down here i think we’ve been there so i’m going to just put a barrier across there say okay been there been there been here and down there is where i’m

Going to explore but what i want to do first is take the resources of the precious resources i’ve got so far and take them back home it’s daylight at the moment let’s just take a moment to breathe here we are our wheat is slowly growing as well so maybe we could just

Grab that does that give us some meat now we don’t have any room for it in fact okay good point and it’s sunset as well okay let’s take ourselves back out here and then we can jump in take a well-earned rest and have a look at our resources

Oh we need a bed we took our bed with us phew okay well that was something wasn’t it let’s look at that a little bit further so we are running a little bit low on food as we were expecting we’re gonna have to do something about that

I think for more long term cave exploration i’ll take my furnace and crafting table back where is my crafting table did i leave it down there i can’t see it on me i must have done okay well let’s go make another one there we are

Okay so what have we got here we got well 31 raw iron that’s fantastic so let’s pop that in along with the coal and we’ll leave that smelting for now then we’ve let’s go for this one for maybe some valuable things let’s take out all the less valuable stuff pop it in here

Just swap things around so stone and bits go there everything else goes in here we can reorganize this obviously later so we’ve got raw gold which is fantastic a bone we can turn into bone meal to help our crops grow a little bit of wheat seeds here some sugarcane some lapis

More raw copper so almost two stacks of that a couple of iron nuggets left i’ll keep the logs on top for the moment and just pop these down and we have a flint as well now actually that’s useful we’ll take that and we used up a lot of torches there

But i’d rather use up more torches than not because it’s scary down there okay so with the iron nuggets going that’s fine we need to think about food more than anything else we do have our wheat here that’s growing slowly we can expand on that area perhaps

A little bit we also have our sugar cane that we can plant up so we have two wheat here another load of wheat seeds here and if we take the dirt we can come out and expand on this a little bit more maybe we could let’s grab up that plant that down take

Our hoe take our seeds another eight we can plant down so we’re going to need one two three probably need another water source there don’t really want to walk on this too much so we could extend out this way oh hello dolphin without uh pick up some water so here i don’t think

We need i think we can just plant this as it is just at the water’s edge let’s try that all around the edge here i’ve got loads of this actually don’t think we can plant it on gravel now nice and nice surrounding there and then a layer inside of that

We’ve got enough rather seven so we’ll start another area down here and then when we collect up some more we can start filling this area adding water in and things when we need it i think this color means i can harvest it yes we can oh watch out it’s sinking

Wow it’s nice underwater and then we have another six seas just from doing that replant those i think that one counts now there’s some more wheat that is getting uh hydrated i think eventually okay so with five wheat we can almost make another loaf of bread so it’s slow going at the moment

But it does give us a food source we can just keep on adding to it over time okay so armed with that let’s try again further down see what we can see because that cabin was looking quite interesting okay back into our area so we’ve got our navigation telling

Me i’ve been here and i’ve been here i’ve also been there but i want to explore down here a little bit more just be careful you don’t have that much food i have to do some proper stairs down there or something so that area i know i’ve explored as well

So we’ll block that off market explored that’s the best i can come up with for the moment it seems to work okay but what do we have here this is the frightening part there is deep slate around here so we know with quite far down it’s just how big is this cavern

We can see a little bit of something over there we can see a skeleton and a creeper down there could probably do with the bow and arrow really because the longer i spend down here the longer they’re gonna run around so options here i don’t like the idea of dropping down

Into dangerous areas like this for me what i would probably do is try and come down and dig my way down to the same level and control my environment is how i would i would want to approach this it’s going to put some extra things here so in order to do that

I’m going to make myself i don’t like to get too claustrophobic so i’m going to okay that plan didn’t work because it goes straight down okay let’s just check around here yeah that just looks i wish i could just drop a torch down there okay here the dragons okay so plan

Plan a didn’t work what if we were to go across a little bit so i’m gonna pop the torch down here creepers aren’t always a great idea either i can hear the zombies which is promising i just need to control my access to them now is that gone through again i think

It has can’t see the bottom i think i was gonna throw some bread down that’s gonna work okay so we can see something around there we’re not quite down at the right level really more deep slate obviously what we can do is try and protect our area a little bit this way

Keep the torches and then eventually can we get a torch down there see torches will help us i think i might hear some lava as well there’s a wall there so if we work our way across and then down i’m being ultra cautious because that’s in my nature

Okay we’re getting down to the right kind of level i think i just want to block things off so we can’t we can’t see anything okay i feel slightly safer that i can control my environment a little bit here just don’t know what’s around the corner

And we have two directions here as well which is never a good idea so i’m gonna know down there with something so i’m going to block that area off as it were and then i’ll look down this side instead i know they can’t get to me from there

I can put a torch in just shine a light on that and then we’ll work our way across here and see what we see oh look this is interesting scary at the same time and there’s another entrance way down there i’m going to cover this up

Just so i don’t end up turning myself around so i know that that there be something i’m gonna just block it up i’ll feel safer with just a hole that i can see we’ll come back to that what i want to see is down here now this has got some interesting

Features in it i can see the glowing light down there some new materials here two different ways uh let’s just pop some things down so i can see my way through now let’s go up a little bit just to see this skeleton oh there’s two okay there’s three okay uh block

Got one got one got one block this is scary i’ve got one my health is low though we got it we got it eat some bread and then put a torch down there’s another skeleton okay i don’t think he saw me there’s been a lot of skeletons here i’m

I’m just gonna run a little bit here oh you saw me okay okay we got that one let’s light up this area a bit more okay it’s too dark it’s too much everywhere so there’s light oh there’s a zombie there’s a zombie somewhere okay there’s a zombie

I just want to control my area right we need food this is too dangerous for us at the moment without food okay that was scary this looks beautiful and there’s more stuff down there which also looks beautiful okay right we don’t have any food left

We’re all out of food we have a nice area we know we’re going to explore made some great progress there but it’s time to go back up and come back to safety perhaps a change of underwear as well right back up here you go at least we know the way now

Our amazing caves that was a lush cave i believe and at least with our markers we know exactly how to get out it’s daytime at the moment so let’s go up have a look at our wheat situation okay we have a little bit here um now i understand the coloration i can

Just grab the ones that i need and then refill with seeds to get some more food again and then move back over to this area where more crops are growing so that’s six seven eight nine ten eleven there we go all the wheat planted that’s all growing nicely we’ve even got some more

Let’s let that grow for the moment oops fell in the water i think i think i’m getting a bit tired now we need to go back and get some food okay more wheat means more bread that’s ten wheat that means three bread we can at least eat

One for now get our health back up to maximum let’s put the weight away let’s put our arrows and our bones away so we can use that for possibly bone meal picked up quite a lot of cobble deep slate here so grab that and grab that

We have our coal which is really good we have an iron pick we have all the iron here another 31 iron nuggets maybe we should make ourselves a full set of armor ready for next time i just don’t quite feel safe enough so some leggings

And a helmet and we had boots already i believe there we go and our shield is at half health as well and our health is a little bit more so bread doesn’t last very long so we’re going to have to make sure that that farm is in

Better production over time so that we can get lots of bread out of this we could obviously go and do wildlife and get more food sources and there were some cows over there certainly but for now i think we might leave it there i think we did amazingly well there

As our first exploration we just saw that just saw the beginnings of the new cave systems which are absolutely fantastic we’ve barely scratched the surface of things but i think that’s a fantastic way to continue our journey so we’ll leave it there for now i hope you’re enjoying this video series
