Hello everyone and welcome to another Minecraft update video this is snapshot23w14a and it’s been an exciting weekend in the world of Minecraft with another amazing April Fool’s snapshot which I covered on the channel in fact I made two videos because there was so much maybe I could have even made a Third but we are done with that for now and we’re here to check out the latest Minecraft snapshot for 1.20 and we’re first of all gonna check out the main menu this is because it comes complete with a new panoramic background as we would expect for each update and you may Notice that the logo is different as well it’s been updated yes the Java Edition logo now looks a lot more like its Bedrock counterpart and if you’re scratching your head thinking I can’t actually remember what the last one looked like well don’t worry I’ve got You covered here it is of course on the screen you may have also been wondering why the thumbnail for this video said mince raft because this image can be found inside of the game there is actually an incredibly rare chance that when you load up the game the Minecraft Logo might say mince raft and next let’s take a moment to see the entirety of the Panorama once it’s been sped up in the video editing obviously it’s taken in the Cherry Blossom biome and this is to celebrate the new biome in 1.20 and one comment I have about this Panorama is That it’s gorgeous it’s taken at that time of the day where the light level starts to come down and the sky looks amazing but it does mean that the image is a little on the darker side and maybe it could do with some brightness and saturation just like I’ve done right Here now let’s check out some survival changes I’ve got my piece of bamboo I got a desert temple here where there’s been some changes to the room inside I am talking about the new room where you can find suspicious sand the idea is that you’ll see more sand blocks at the Top here and you should always be able to see one piece of suspicious sand which you can now plant bamboo onto yeah I’m not sure if anyone was asking for that but this should make this area a little more discoverable for new players coming into the desert temple so book Enchantment Basics the level will be determined by the amount amount of bookshelves that connect with the enchanting table in the middle which you can block by doing something like placing down some torches see now the level is much lower the change here is that there’s now going to be a list of Items that won’t actually block that low lichen is one of them for example there it is we have 30 levels and also on this list is water this will no longer block the enchantment level also in this list you can find snow and these can be made Into multiple layers you can make it look like a full block and I’m curious if that’ll block it and what would you know it doesn’t actually block it fire and Crimson Roots also appear on this list and I’ll actually just go ahead and show you the entirety of this new tag List that’s been added for those blocks and there’s also these enchantment power provider and transmitter lists you could effectively edit these with a data pack and make other blocks how your enchanting table and another new tag list is sword efficient these are a large list of items that swords will Actually be fast at breaking and when rummaging around in the game files I also found this template music disk model file and I’m wondering a moyang laying down some of the groundwork for some future changes with music discs maybe new ones and on the topic of laying down groundwork and making Changes it’s time to talk about skulk sensors we’ll start with not such of a big change it’s the skulk Shrieker which can make a lot of noise and you can silence it now just by water logging it this will stop it from making any sounds And you can also find it right here in the Redstone tab in the creative menu now the calibrated skulk sensor has had a couple of big changes here one is its active cooldown if we put this alongside a regular sculk sensor and start to place blocks we can see them get Activated at the same time but you’ll notice that the calibrated skulk sensor is ready to go again a little quicker than the skulk sensor on the right so its cooldown was previously two seconds like the skulk sensor and now it’s just one second the calibrated skulk sensor has also had its vibration detection Distance double doubled this used to be eight blocks and now it’s 16 so it can detect a signal from further away and for comparison the regular sculk sensor is still eight blocks so if we go a little closer then they both get activated and two things here to Remember is that it takes time for a vibration further away to travel to the calibrated skulk sensor when we create vibrations right next door it picks it up a lot quicker and also vibrations that are closer by create a stronger signal strength compared to when further Away that is what this giant circle of colorful blocks is here to represent and we’ve got another smaller one over here which represents the range of the regular skulk sensor and I built this based off of an image that King beadog shared on Twitter this is from one of Those moyang testing worlds where they test features and they have beacons and command blocks to tell you if the features are working correctly or not and shout out to King B dogs for taking the time to explain to me what exactly is going on here as I really wanted to Do a good job explaining this to oil and I definitely totally misunderstood what all of this is about but now I know exactly what’s going on this is about the signal strength that a calibrated skulk sensor will create and where that vibration came from so around where this Is placed there are different areas that will correlate to the different signal strengths so from black through red and orange all the way down to green and blue and finally cyan this goes from 15 signal strength all the way down to one the reason this change was made is because vibrations were previously Counted in a circular or spherical manner this means that different locations inside of an individual block could actually give you different signal strengths now it’s going to be consistent if the vibration comes from anywhere inside of this block it will correlate to that signal strength and if You are a skulk sensor red Stoner then take a screenshot this image is going to be helpful as is this one which relates to the regular skulk sensor and translating a range of 16 blocks to 15 signal straps is obviously a lot neater looking than translating it from a range Of 8 to 15 signal strength so that’s why the layout here is a little bit quirky so hopefully I did a good job explaining that please let me know of a comment because I have made mistakes in the past and I’m always trying to avoid them and I feel like this time did a good job getting the explanation out and last but not least there is another change that applies to both of the skulk sensors the Redstone output that they’re now signal is going to be a strong one meaning that it can push the Redstone signal into the Block and it will power the things that are next to that block and quickly now before we go any further if you’re enjoying these videos of mine where we cover the updates of Minecraft be sure to subscribe so you can catch the future ones and with that let’s crack on okay Next up texture changes and the purple terracotta seems to be the only one of significance the shape of the sword around the middle here is a little more visible here is a quick before and after comparison of the change and when rumbling around inside of the game file I noticed there were minor tweaks and changes to the camel the black cat chests all the different donkey types even the illusioner which isn’t in Survival Minecraft these were like mostly really minor tiny changes and some like the horse here a little more noticeable also is it me or are those Eyes absolutely cursed in this configuration and the Minecraft cloud map was also changed which reminds me I always play with clouds off however with my Snapshot videos I do try to preserve the vanilla look of the game as much as possible because we’re talking about how it changes alright next up some Technical stuff and I suspect that moyang might be laying down some groundwork for the Java Edition to function a little bit more like Bedrock you see there are these files called dot MC world and when you open them they can essentially launch straight into a brand New world maybe with a resource or data pack equipped that kind of thing and that means that you don’t have to go through the Minecraft launcher or even the main menu of the game it’s called quick play and unfortunately I spent way too much much time trying to get this to Work but as it says here you’ll be able to launch directly into a single player world a multiplayer server or even a realm server you can also create a log file of what happens when you use this feature and there are some examples of these in action the idea is that you Would use them in the command prompt and that is not to be confused with the Java runtime arguments or the Java executable that you see down here I believe uses something along these lines you have a command prompt you tell the Minecraft launcher to launch with some extra Parameters but after spending way too much of my time trying to get this to work I kind of gave up so I won’t be able to show you unfortunately and more technical changes in this snapshot loot tables now have a reference function allowing them to reference other files In the game there are also some new tags we saw sort efficient earlier in the game and replaceable plants has been refined into replaceable by trees so now you know which blocks in the game will let trees grow through them and we pretty much covered everything that you See in the technical changes with the exceptions of signs that have click commands in them can now be interacted when the sign is not waxed when it comes to bug fixes in this snapshot a lot of them actually relate to those texture changes that I had already shown you I Also noticed that one of the bug reports in here was related to villagers being able to farm torch flowers I didn’t know that and also the bug that I showed in my own video where the picture crop would pop off of the block as it turned Into dirt that was reported and fixed so whoever reported that thank you for doing so and if you enjoyed this video leave a like hopefully we’ll be back next week with another snapshot so thanks for watching and I’ll see you soon bye-bye Video Information
