Minecraft 1.21: A Sneak Peek into the Future of Minecraft
Yesterday, Minecraft Live streamed to millions, announcing some of the features in Minecraft 1.20. Later that day, a group of friends coded those features into the game, giving us a sneak peek into the future of Minecraft 1.21. Let’s dive into the exciting new elements that were added to the game.
New Blocks and Uses for Copper
The tuff family is expanding with the addition of chiseled tuff, polished tuff, and tuff bricks, complete with stairs, slabs, and walls. Copper is also getting more uses, including chiseled copper, copper grates, doors, trapdoors, and pressure plates, all of which have oxidation. A particularly interesting addition is the copper bulb, which emits more light the less oxidized it is, and can be toggled on and off with redstone like a t-flip flop.
Introducing Trial Chambers
The new trial chambers are dungeon-like structures that generate underground and offer a “combat adventure” experience. These chambers contain trial spawners that spawn mobs based on the number of players participating in the fight and reward each of them. Additionally, there are traps to avoid and supply chests to loot, making the trial chambers a thrilling addition to the game.
Meet the Breeze
The main challenge within the trial chambers is a new mob called the Breeze. This mob is themed around air and resembles the blaze, but with its own unique abilities. The Breeze is a jumping mob that shoots wind charges, dealing damage and knockback in a wider area. It can also interact with various elements in the game, adding an extra layer of complexity to encounters.
The Game Changer: The Autocrafter
One of the most significant additions to Minecraft 1.21 is the autocrafter. This block can automatically craft items when receiving a redstone pulse and allows players to lock slots so that items can only go into those specific slots. The autocrafter opens up a world of possibilities for automation and efficiency within the game.
Armadillos and More
Finally, the armadillo won the mob vote, meaning it will be officially added in 1.21. However, our group of friends has already coded it into the game, providing an early look at this upcoming addition.
With these exciting new features and additions, Minecraft 1.21 is shaping up to be a game-changer for players. The creativity and innovation on display in these early coding efforts are a testament to the vibrant and dynamic Minecraft community.
