Minecraft 1.8 Snapshot: New Custom Skins, WorldEdit, Better Village & Temple, Mob Drop Nerf 14w03b

This video intended for educational purposes hey guys it’s adam ak’s swimming burden welcome back for another minecraft snapshot this is 14 w3b with some game-changing features this week for the upcoming 1.8 update including Vennela world at it we can now copy cloned fill in blocks changes to world generation including desert temples and

Villages a few Easter eggs involving mobs and what they drop that are sure to change your item farmers around so very important for people to use those and also a bit of news from Jeb about the future of the end but first the feature that will probably affect the most

Players out there changes to skins now if you’re paying attention during this intro you might have noticed my skin looks a little weird I’m wearing diamond armor and you can see it’s a different layer so it’s definitely diamond armor right well it’s actually not I’m completely naked

I’ve got I’ve got some time and armor here to prove it I’ll pop it on you can see it’s a bit bulkier than my normal skin that is because skins now have a hat layer around the whole body it’s actually called it’s got different names here you can go into the options skin

Customization and there’s a jacket layer left and right sleeves and also left and right pants legs you can turn on and off as well as turning off and on your hat and your cape so you can do all that and it only affects whether you or other

Players see it on your skin so this is all completely up to you whether you want those layers on and often you can use whatever you want but this is a way that we now have way more customization on how our skins work and a little also

Easter egg here the mob heads now have the Hat layer on top of them so you can see I’ve got that diamond fake diamond helmet on my head and I’ve got my buddy over here when I thought of asymmetrical skins I thought of Hellboy immediately so I

Didn’t edit here so this is the other big change of skins you actually have separate left and right arm and leg portions that you can design so he’s got his right hand of doom which I’ve kind of popped out a little bit using that new sleeve layer but his left hand is

Completely normal and I’ve done some other changes here – he’s got like his abs and chest popping out there because he’s he’s a strong guy he’s also got his tail I did a little drop shadow to make that tail really pop out there on the back

Yeah you can do a ton of cool stuff like that but finally the arm and legs don’t just copy and flip around they have separate little files there so this is a little overlay for you guys to check out real quick this is by jacks zero on

Reddit and you can see skins used to be 64 by 32 but they are now 64 by 64 and I will overlay my own little diamond fake armor skin over that and you can see they’ve gotten a bit complicated now the the arms especially in the legs you have

To kind of flip around and move some of the pieces to get them to look right but I think all in all this is a really welcome and long coming change for skins and customization I’m very happy happy that we finally got this that’s probably going to increase the amount of people

Using fake armor but obviously it’s not going to give them any benefits it might scare some people away from fighting them but servers might just ban people for using that anyway so we’ll see I’m very interested to see some of the tricks people use and some of the

Customization we’ll get out of this very happy with this so before I get into the survival changes that I mentioned I want to quickly cover the world edit commands the first one here is fill and replace so it’s the slash fill command and you can use coordinates here this is going

To do one block over this first set of coordinates and then the second set is where it ends and I’m doing a cube here so this will be like five blocks up here and this cube is gonna get filled with wool I set this up so we got a bunch of

These with all these different colors of wool that will be replaced in there you just put replace after the data value and here we go rainbow wool all pops in there now this is really cool you can even replace with air as well this isn’t fast way to fill

Up an area with blocks or replace it if you want really clear a mountain or something you can do about 5,000 blocks with this so be very careful with this command you can also do data so I have this I’m gonna fill in a few chests

Right next to here and I’ll add in some gold blocks so when I hit this these chests will pop they’re gonna fuse together and then we get some gold block so you can do a weird glitch where you can get super double chests if you fuse these all together but I think that’ll

Probably get fixed so using air you do some crazy stuff to like this command here I’m going to fill a ton of blocks with air down to the surface so now we can go all the way to bedrock made a little tunnel and I can also do the same

Thing but I will just fill it in with stone and it’s fixed but there are two other ways to do this now I have a one over here this is the hollow command and if I hit that it will fill it in with stone but as you can see it’s now hollow

Inside very nice if you want to make a little like enclosed area and there is also this other command here the the outline command so you can see it outlines with air and it leaves the stone in the center intact so very nice there the clone command this is

Something that I’ve wanted for a while make builds a lot easier if you’re building in creative mode now I’ve got this tent here and this nice little scarecrow I don’t want to destroy him but I do have this this tent that I want to copy over so we have two types of

Cloning master cloning route and Replace cloning so I will type in these coordinates here and we’re gonna stand right here so this is going to pop in the first set of coordinates is where I want the starting point to be the second set is where the other corner is just

Like we were doing with the wool we’re gonna copy as a little cube and the third set is where I’m going to copy this to so it’s gonna be right over there and by using masked it will not copy the air blocks this is something that in the past when I used worldedit

On bucket with plugins it would copy the air blocks above a build like in the cube area and it will replace anything but as you can see if you use masks at the end it will leave whatever blocks are not affected by the copy but we have

This replaced command so if you really want to get rid of everything in that that little area you can pop in this replace command it doesn’t work perfectly right now but there we go we replaced that with the air blocks above it so there’s two ways to copy stuff

This will make building huge projects a lot easier for people they don’t have to use world at at a more necessarily to do that now over here some really funny little tricks before I get into the survival stuff you can see this witchcraft going on here well now we

Have two new factors when we can teleport players around this will be the first one here is orienting what facing which direction they want to be facing so if I jump down here this will teleport me and turn me around by 180 so this is a very useful format makers this

One will also teleport me and put me at whatever degree down I want to be facing so this will face me eighty degrees down when I jump up there so you can see it makes me look down but this is this is just something that I think is going to

Be very useful for teleporting it’ll face people in the right direction and have them oriented the right way that little zombie really wants to get in that pen abilities but I need those guys I got to talk about them you can also do funny stuff with teleporting mobs I’m

Gonna tell poke these villagers up a little bit they’ll all jump up a little and spin around oh that zombies gonna get those once over here you saw this funny little thing so this is a minecart its teleporting up two blocks and it is rotating thirty degrees but because I

Have this comparator going it’s just spinning and spinning it’s a fun little thing to have going I’m also doing the same with pigs over here they’re spending one hundred and eighty degrees until according to up but because they keep falling on this they’re just bouncing and bouncing setting up cool

Things like that one last little command here and it is this one here we can now specify a little radiate cubic radius here so you can see this is going to kill all chickens from this coordinate in about a fifty block range so if any chicken was brave enough to walk into

That little area they’re dead automatically so you can set up like an area that tell you don’t have to use kill you can do TP you can teleport away anything that pops into an area you can kill anything so this is a nice way to protect certain parts of your map so

Anyways let’s go into the survival stuff because this is a bit more interesting for people in the general minecraft player public we’ve got these villagers here so what’s going on there’s one witch in here so in the past you might know this little easter egg where if a

Pig is struck by lightning it becomes a zombie Pigman and if a creeper struck by lightning it becomes a supercharged blue electric creeper now villagers when struck by lightning become witches so be very careful in your villages watch out for your villagers they might get struck by lightning and destroyed and they will

You know run around killing you so some of the other survival things I’ve got some screenshots here desert temples they will now spawn with stained clay in place of the wool this is a a suggested feature on reddit that Jeb saw and decided to implement this is very cool

And now it looks much more natural I definitely prefer this to the wool a lot better fit there also Villages another suggested feature they will now spawn with cobblestone underneath their gravel paths so in the past when villages spawn in sometimes the the paths would get

Messed up they would if there was like a ravine or some something you know messing up the paths underneath all the gravel would fall down because it you know is affected by gravity but because cobble is now under it it will keep the pads looking nice and intact one more

Change to villagers here to the clerk’s no longer offer that ender pearl trade that was very nice I think it was just a little exploitable they probably thought you can still trade them tons of rotten flesh which is probably the easiest trait to do so don’t worry about that

The other thing I mentioned here with dropping mob drops the zombie pigmen and the iron golems are affected here so if you have a farm that was affecting or used to farm gold nuggets from zombie pigman more golden swords or if you had a farm using these golems things are a

Bit different now so if you want to get them to drop iron or gold or any of those you need to actually kill them by hand you have to use a potion you have to use a player detonated T one of those methods but it has to be you killing

Them now if they die you see these zombie pigman they’re only dropping rotten flesh when they’re killed because they’re not killed by hand but if I was to kill one of these they have a chance there we go we got a sword and a nugget

Lizard or two drops there so you have to kill them by hand to do that the same with the iron golems if I can kill one of these iron golems just surround them with enough pig get killed eventually here the iron golems do not drop iron if they’re

Killed by anything but a player they will only drop poppies so this is going to upset a lot of people I’m sure there goes an iron golem he didn’t drop the poppy but he didn’t drop anything else either it’s gonna upset a lot of players that have mob item farms mostly the ones

With iron I’m sure in gold ones there we go we got a poppy but yeah this is this is a change I think Jeb was probably trying to steer away from people sending these automatic things up and not having any player input so I don’t know I bet

This will be an unpopular change that’s what I’m thinking but who knows they might revert it if enough people you know complain about it and hopefully they they hear which the majority of the Minecraft players want to happen but anyways kind of a minor change unless

You use item farms now the news that I mentioned Jeb got a lot of these suggestions off of Reddit Heath the desert temples the the witches being struck by the villagers being struck by lightning to become witches cobblestone all that stuff was from reddit and another suggestion that has been

Suggested for a long time the end when you beat the end a lot of people want it to transform into like a lush kind of a nice realm to go into right now if you beat the dragon the only reason to go back to the end is pretty much just a

Farm Enderman and get experience in pearls but the suggestion was that the end would get you know vibrant with life and Jeb actually likes this suggestion and he said the transformation of the end is an old suggestion that we’ve talked about for a long time still not

Sure when if it will happen though so this means that they have thought about it and they are thinking about implementing it so that is something we could see in the future but I’m glad to see Jeb acknowledging that he does actually like that suggestion because I

Think it’s a good one adding more use to the end the nether has gotten some improvements but the end has remained largely unchanged for quite some time now a few years it seems like anyways thank you guys for watching I hope you’re looking forward to 1.8 the skin
