Minecraft 1.9 – Potions Effects (Fire Resistance, Jump Boost, Blindness, Healing & More!)

Hey boys and girls it’s drackle and we’re looking at the new 1.9 pre-release number two and uh with a helpful post on Reddit I was able to take that information and figure out how to give myself the potion effects in game as you can see I had fire resistance uh potion effect

And if I jump here in the lava nothing happens because I’m awesome and yep can’t die it also works uh just jumping into fire and as you can see I’m on fire but taking no damage whatsoever which is pretty cool I’m pretty sure it doesn’t last this long I modified it to

Last a really long time just for demonstration purposes uh so yeah there’s a whole bunch of potions that were added to the game they’re currently in the code and looks like some of them are ready to go but there’s no items to give yourself the effect quite yet

If you’re wondering how I managed to give myself the effect well what I did was I took a spider eye and I ate it and then saved my game real quick and I went into NBT edit and I looked up the new uh um the the tag that it gives you in your

Save file and then I just started modifying the IDS and stuff so that’s how I did it so we’re going to look at the other ones this is going to be a little bit cut up because I’m gonna have to manually edit my game every time I want to show a new

Potion so let’s look at the uh let’s look at a few of the other ones okay so here’s another cool one it’s called haste um it apparently makes you mine faster now I’m not sure what the correct setting for this one is because there’s also an amplifier effect uh so yeah I

Have no idea but as you can see I do mine a little bit faster um this is about the same speed as a diamond pick and I’m using an iron pick so that’s pretty cool I’m going to try messing around with the amplifier ID and see how much difference that makes

So here’s what happens when I increase the potency of the haste to 10. my arm doesn’t even swing but you could as you can see I’m mining very quickly so I don’t know what the correct setting for this is I assume it’s closer to like zero or five

But that’s uh another effect of this potion apparently it’s the amplifier ID in the code that’s kind of cool here’s another one a water breathing I’m assuming It Makes You Beautiful underwater yep my uh air meter is not going down so as long as this potion’s in effect you

Can walk around underwater and and do cool stuff awesome that’ll be pretty useful I wonder how long it’s going to last though I can’t imagine it will last more than a minute or two quite awesome though here’s the jump boost again I’m not quite sure what the correct setting for

This one is but at least the default level lets you jump over fences so that’s cool I can actually like double jump on the fence and take damage but I still can’t clear two blocks I’m almost there but it definitely makes you jump a little bit higher

So I’m going to mess around with the uh the amplitude of this effect okay so I changed the amplitude of the jump boost to 10. I don’t think it’s supposed to be this High because uh I’m getting a lot of air holy Christ that’s pretty awesome

I bet if you said it’s like 100 you could jump you know uh on top of mountains and stuff but you do take a lot of damage even at this level so so that’s pretty cool so this is called the instant health potion you can see the hearts have a white border oh

Okay okay that appears to have a strange side effect but as you can see I’m not losing any health oh it pretty much heals you instantly hence the name I guess I guess you can’t die when you’re using that cool now I’m burning and starving to death to get some rotten flesh so

Yeah that seems to be the healing potion I’m assuming they’ll fix that later because that’s um kind of messed up hunger that’s another one I think that’s the the weakness potion hunger weakness that makes you lose food bars faster so it’s kind of cool I’m gonna try and test the invisibility one now

All right I tested the invisibility potion doesn’t seem to do anything quite yet I also tested the um the night vision one it doesn’t do anything either but this is the blindness potion and this is kind of sock oh my God you can’t see anything it’s ridiculous

Okay but that’s more or less it for the Potions there are a couple more and let me all Tab out and um review the ones we didn’t look at all right we have potion move speed and potion move slow down those uh increased walking speed and decreased walking speed

Respectively dig slow down that’s the opposite of the digging potion that makes you dig slower this one called damage boost which doesn’t have any apparent effect you saw the healing one and there’s also a harm potion that’s the opposite of the healing one that uh instant Health loss

I’m assuming that’s uh supposed to be like a magical spell kind of thing that attacks you maybe a boss will use that I don’t know we have the potion confusion which makes your The View wobble like a portal according to the wiki okay potion resistance which has no apparent effect

Potion hunger at the the normal one that’s the one you get from rotten flesh uh to potion weakness that decreases your melee range when you’re attacking mobs apparently that’s kind of cool uh the potion regeneration makes Health regenerate over time that’s from golden apples and I think that’s uh I think that’s

About it that’s as far as we’ve gotten so far on the wiki so yeah that’s uh that’s pretty cool this is some pretty cool stuff I gotta say I’m really looking forward to um the potion effects in 1.9 so this should be a lot of fun
