Minecraft 1.9 Snapshot 15w42a- New Enchantments, Brewing Changes!

Howdy everyone Cub here welcome to snapshot 15w 42 a and let’s take a look at this week’s changes so first thing we have is some rare enchantments that can only be found in dungeons yes haha that’s awesome so you can find these books in dungeons so we have Frost Walker one frost Walker

Two and mending so let’s start off with the frost Walker this is an enchantment that goes on your boots so I have frost Walker one on these boots and what this does is it turns any water source block on the level you’re standing into ice

That’s nearby you so if I go ahead and start walking here you’ll see it’s turning the water source blocks into ice around me makes a nice little path and you’ll also see the over time the ice warms cracks and then eventually those cracks grow and the ice reverts back

Into water source blocks so that’s pretty nifty it’s also worth noting that if you’re not on the ground here if you just try and jump into the water you can indeed do that and it also forms ice on the lower levels too so not just at the

Surface as you can see I also you can’t harvest this eye so if I just run around here and then try to harvest it you’ll see no luck although I think it won’t revert back to water unless yeah it fills in like that so yeah kind of an interesting little

Little enchantment there and again these can only be found in dungeons so you can’t get these on the regular enchant table the difference between the level 1 and the level 2 is the level 2 makes an even bigger path for you so the first level is about seven blocks across this

Is about eight or nine blocks across as you can see there so that’s pretty nifty just gives you even more sort of a room to run around and makes more ice on the surrounding area for you but yeah that’s pretty cool enchant I think I can definitely see it useful for you know

Crossing swamps like I’m doing now also harvesting the lily pads apparently that works well for that another good use would be like taking animals across lakes or oceans rivers but yeah definitely a cool enchantment all right the next new enchantment is the mending enchantment and again this book is also

Only found in dungeon chests and where this works is if you put it on something so say I have it on a diamond pickaxe here I can go and then whenever I collect XP with this in my hand I’ll actually repair the item so you see it

Up I’m at damage 1557 I get this XP repairs it right up and then also I think let’s see if you’re wearing armor does it repair it yeah it does sweet so you put mending on your armor and gather XP it’ll repair your armor as well also

New this week they changed the interface of the brewing stands so now instead of just the potion and the water bottles you also need a blaze powder to go right in this slot right here and you’ll see they also get this a little nifty bar here you can actually do multiple

Potions with just one blaze powder so it’s not too bad it’s pretty balanced and pretty cool little change there also for those are you concerned that that might break auto Brewers you can actually just plop your blaze powder right in to wherever you put your water bottles and that should

Go right in there just like that and so that ya automatically puts it into the correct slot so that’s pretty nice and what important change is to enchanted items which are renamed so it still costs one level to rename an item so here I named this pick cubs pick but

If we compare this to a normal pick you’ll see so the enchantment cost here is three if I repair it with the names pick it remains three so the naming of the pick no longer counts as a repair and thus does not increase the cost of the repair

For custom named items there have also been some changes to the Electra this week so first of all you got this cool animation now whenever you shift with the alight you’re on so the wings sort of flare out like that also this week the Electra flight has been slightly

Nerfed so you don’t go quite as high when you dive down and swoop back up also you can now take damage when flying into something horizontally not just vertically and also there is a new def message if you happen to die this way by flying horizontally into a wall and yep

You can see it is experienced kinetic energy so that’s pretty cool message finally this week if you now use the appropriate colored wool you wants to get your boat now makes the appropriate boat so here we have an acacia boat and plopping this down the

Water and hopping on in I’ll just get it get it in the right area there we go yep you’ll see they’re much faster I’m just going to f5 here so they’re actually a little bit faster than sprinting and apparently if you tap in like a correct the correct rhythm you can go slightly

Faster than the otherwise would just by simply holding them down but I’m guessing it’s gonna take a while you used to that so yeah boats are looking good a little bit quicker now so that’s awesome and of course there were also some great bug fixes this week for instance enchanted

Books in dungeons are no longer blank and also by the way you can put the mending enchantment on the Electra so if you find one in Lytro you can just simply repair it by holding it or actually wearing it with XP collection so yeah some pretty interesting changes
