Yeah I bet you weren’t expecting a title like that on this channel hello everybody and welcome back to another video and yeah we’re diving into the world of Minecraft today specifically we’re gonna be doing a follow-up to this video I made back in September of 2020 where I showcased a Minecraft mod called Mcvm computers it’s a very unique mod that allows you to build a computer within Minecraft using virtual Parts all the parts you would use to build a computer in the real world you’ve got CPUs Ram motherboards hard drives gpus yeah at least you can get a GPU from Somewhere these days and you can actually install an operating system on it this is done through a virtual machine that runs via virtualbox on your computer in a headless state which essentially means that it’s running in the background the mod is able to display the virtual machine’s output in The game and allow you to interact with it it’s a very very cool mod to say the least and if you want to learn more about it you can click here to check out the original video but today today we’re going to be trying an experiment that Was heavily requested on that video and it’s something that I honestly thought of myself too and that is can we install Minecraft in this virtual machine and then play it within Minecraft in theory it should work but if you’re a subscriber you know all the problems we Seem to get into whenever I press record so let’s put it to the test and find out I’ve got a copy of Windows 10 64-bit installed in the virtual machine here as you can see but before we take a look at trying to install Minecraft on it let’s Go over the hardware that I’ve installed in the virtual computer so we’ve got obviously a 64-bit motherboard 8 gigabytes of RAM which is the maximum amount that you can currently use and I’ve got the host CPU divided by two which is supposed to take the number of Cores that your host computer has and divide it by two unfortunately that isn’t what’s happening virtualbox reports the amount of cores as one now this is a current issue if you go over 2 to the GitHub page somebody posted about this and that was on February 3rd of This year so this is a known bug but the developer has released multiple updates to this in fact and I find this really cool he’s a viewer of the channel he actually commented on the original video which I think is just pretty awesome one of the other cool things he did is after That video was released he updated the mod with additional RAM sizes now this was something I briefly mentioned in the original video because I was trying to initially install like Windows 95 or Windows 98 and at that time the mod had a minimum RAM size of one gigabyte so You couldn’t use anything less than this and you cannot make changes to the hardware settings from within virtualbox it will just be reset when you launch the VM from Minecraft so I like for example I can’t set this to two or four cores and then save it and try to launch The VM from within Minecraft it’ll just reset back to One Core so now if you want to run an older operating system you can because the lowest Ram size is 64 megabytes which is pretty awesome but with all that aside let’s just get into trying to install Minecraft in this Virtual machine now one thing I had to do and this is anything specific to the mod but I had to modify the network adapter settings Windows 10 at least the version that I’m running here does not play very nicely with the default network adapter settings that virtualbox Sets up for you so if you’re experiencing problems just try to set the adapter type to Intel Pro 1000mt desktop and this worked for me in fact there’s a thread over on the virtualbox forms that talks about this I’ll have it linked down below but aside from that The only thing I’ve done in the VM is installed VMware tools and we’re just going to jump right into it so let’s see if we can install Minecraft now you’ll notice that uh yeah using the VM from within Minecraft is not the most pleasant experience and that’s to be Expected because of just how the mod works so there is going to be noticeable lag you can see I’m moving the mouse cursor around here and yeah there is a very noticeable delay and I touch on this in the original video as well luckily though we don’t have to sit here And deal with this for the entire video trying to install Minecraft one of the nice things you can do with a headless VM is you can show it from within virtualbox here so it is running in the background like I said but I can click On show here and then show the window so let’s just head on over to minecraft.net and this is going to be really interesting if we can get this working now like I said I don’t see any reason why this wouldn’t work because this is just like installing Minecraft in any Old virtual machine but you never know what kind of problems you’re going to run into in mjd video because I seem to say it seems like every time I say oh this is going to work with no problems something always seems to go wrong so I’m definitely going to be prepared for Issues to arise okay so we’re going to download for Windows there we go Minecraft installer.msi it will install to the default directory that’s fine install yes and here we go we’re going to log in now here’s the question I’m already logged into Minecraft and I’m playing The game right now so can I log in like on another session here let’s find out so far so good we’ve got the game downloaded here it’s currently finalizing and see what did I tell you it says the driver does not appear to support opengl make sure you have Up-to-date drivers now I have virtualbox guest editions installed all right luckily we may have a fix so I found a YouTube tutorial actually that uh talks about this issue and it’s got 22 000 likes and it links to a MediaFire page here with a dll file that you have to Copy over to your Java directory so we’re going to go into the 64-bit folder right here and this is the file so we’re going to just copy it and go into C program files Java JRE bin and just paste it in here right click on continue and there we go it’s copying over It’s the same error message the driver does not appear to support opengl so that did not do anything for us oh here we go oh we can change the well the reason why that dll copying that dll file didn’t work is because we weren’t even using the same Java directory so This is just the Java runtime that comes with Minecraft so if we go back and manually specify program files Java JRE Java W okay we’ll open that okay so now play if this works then I could have just copied that dll file over to the Java runtime environment that comes with Minecraft okay with Java is running in the background it is utilizing 87 percent of the CPU which is you know pretty typical hey there we go oh man so that was it now I’m expecting even just you know using the virtual machine normally I’m expecting it to be just Extremely uh laggy here because we’ve only got one processor core which is definitely not ideal for Minecraft my gosh look at the menu oh oh that is not good that is not good at all I don’t even want to know what it looks like within Minecraft it’s probably going to Be even worse but okay so we’ll right click here I can’t even see the cursor oh there it is that’s way too far down okay and single player so we’re making a new world here and man this is gonna take a while do you want to even know What task manager looks like yeah check it out 100 this is what the CPU graph is going to look like for the foreseeable future if we go to memory you can see that we’re utilizing more than half of the memory here we are guys and I just I Was trying to move my oh yeah not responding okay let’s go back into Minecraft though and oh my gosh this is gonna be oh yeah check out that lag all right so I think I have it uh set to a doable I mean it still is like way way Out of whack I mean like I’m moving to the left right now and it wants to pan down and oh my gosh this is not now you want to see okay let’s just switch to Minecraft here okay so now we’re in Minecraft we’re gonna get into the VM And honestly it’s actually about this oh no okay let’s just try this is just one of those experiments that’s just so dumb there’s literally no point in doing this other than just the absolute absurdity of now saying that uh I’m playing Minecraft within Minecraft so let’s just Do some crafting here so we’re gonna we’re gonna try oh my gosh yeah look at the look at the cursor there like those Mouse Trails you can set up within Windows like following the mouse around okay gonna get a bunch of wood planks we’re gonna make a CR oh gosh it’s so Jittery okay so we’ll set that here we’ll grab our crafting table I’m I’m trying to scroll to get to the crafting table in the inventory so when I’m in the VM here I’m literally I’m trying to scroll through the inventory and it’s not working but we can just use the Number nine to switch over to the ninth slot there we go and let’s just make a let’s make a wooden sword oh boy okay so we gotta make some sticks here okay and we’re gonna grab those and put them right here and okay let’s make uh let’s Use all the wood we’ve got to make four wooden swords boom there we go oh isn’t that beautiful now all right so I think that’s enough of that uh do you guys want to see me trying to go into a multiplayer server oh boy yeah this is Going to be hilarious so okay we’ll go to go to multiplayer here oh you want to do some Parkour oh this will be hilarious oh this is gonna be so bad I think I can make this first jump let’s see if we can at least do that and then I get stuck in Here because there’s the oh my gosh this is this is terrible I can’t do it okay let’s try to get up here come on come on you can do it you can do it you can do it okay we’re gonna hop up here no no no okay no Oh oh I think I’ve got Auto jump this guy’s probably wondering how what on Earth is this guy doing why is he having so much trouble okay yeah we made the oh no I’m gonna make this first jump I’m I’m freaking determined to do it okay Okay can we do it can we do it we did it oh beautiful and then I just okay I just got off we’re gonna count that because I was able to jump up on it but just I ended up walking off of it because of the delay well there you have it guys Here’s proof that it is 100 possible to play Minecraft within Minecraft uh it’s certainly not the most pleasant experience but I mean you can see the kind of frame rate we’re getting here we are currently averaging four FPS isn’t that wonderful four now we’re at five FPS okay yeah six FPS five FPS can we get any higher than that 707 FPS is that the highest we’re gonna get seven can we get to eight can we get to eight I think we can get to eight seven six five eight there we go we got to Eight oh my gosh but yeah this is just something that I had to check out I mean I had a lot of you guys asking for me to try this out on that original video and I honestly wanted to see myself if it was even possible and well Here’s the proof that uh that yes it absolutely is so if you guys enjoyed this video uh be sure to give it a thumbs up and feel free to subscribe if you’re interested in vintage technology related content because that is the main focus of this channel I am certainly not A Minecraft channel in fact I find it funny because someone commented on the original video and said something like I love how this is a mod review on a non-minecraft channel and that is true but a lot of you guys probably don’t know that I used to be for like a very Brief period of time uh a Minecraft slash gaming channel I kind of rebranded my channel in I believe 2012 to be focused around gaming mainly Minecraft because well that was the age of Minecraft I mean 2012 the game was getting extremely popular I was making Minecraft content pretty much Exclusively uh before eventually finding my way back to technology and then I mean now we focus mainly on Vintage technology so if that sounds like something right up your alley be sure to get subscribed because I’ve got new videos coming every single week on this channel but if you’re looking for some More Minecraft stuff well you’re not really going to find that here but hey there’s a bunch of other videos you can go check out you’ll probably have a bunch of them on your sidebar right now but anyways guys as always I want to thank you all so much for watching and I Will see you in the next video Foreign Video Information
