MINECRAFT CREEPER FARM TUTORIAL | Easy Automatic Gunpowder, Minecraft 1.19+

Hi everybody it’s me your boy do you find yourself looking for a creeper farm that works in 1.18 automatically efficiently well i’ve got you hooked up in this tutorial i’ll be showing you how to build my creeper farm that is designed for minecraft 1.18 with the new

Actually decide to set this thing up if you can get the location just right the rates are going to be even better easier too as you know by now 1.18 completely reshaped the underground tons of new caves and these caves are big these caves are also spawnable spaces which

Means if you want to build this farm near the surface you’re gonna have to light up a lot of caves which is gonna be a lot of work instead of lighting up a bunch of caves you could save yourself a lot of time by building this thing

Really high up in the air to cut out the amount of caves in an area consider building this thing over an ocean you don’t have to but if you build it over an ocean already the ocean is deep so it cuts out where caves can be and usually

The caves underneath the ocean are flooded but really the biome doesn’t matter as long as you build this thing up in the air like above y200 bonus points if you go even higher you’re gonna be good that or light up like a million capes let’s take a look at the materials that you’re

Gonna need to get to build this creeper farm uh so funny thing uh building blocks yeah you’re gonna need a lot of building blocks for this build building blocks are gonna be basically your best friend i don’t have an exact amount for you sorry about that but building blocks get

A lot of them and make sure they’re spawnable building blocks too something like oak planks that would definitely work speaking of wood trap doors you’re also gonna need a lot of trap doors for five layers of this farm if my measurements are correct you will need

Five stacks of trap doors and sixty more the type of trap door doesn’t matter so that’s nice but a lot of trapdoors to flush the mobs out of this farm we’re gonna need a redstone clock there are so many different ways you can set up a

Redstone clock so if you have a good idea do that i highly recommend an ethonian hopper clock though they’re really easy to build and you can toggle how fast or slow they are you’ll need these materials and this row right here for the hopper clock plus some items

Inside of the clock to control the timing for five layers of this farm you will also need five water buckets 20 fence gates any type of work five dispensers and four observers at the bottom of the farm to take the creepers out we’ll be using magma blocks you’ll

Need 64 and 41 more finally to pick up the items one hopper two chests a hopper mine seven rails one powered rail and a power source that’s it the farm kind of looks like a lot but honestly it’s super easy to build once you get the hang of it so imagine me

Building this farm up at like y 215 that would be pretty good now we’re gonna pick a center the farm the center really doesn’t matter this is going to be the center block right here this one right there now from the center we’re going to want to build nine blocks out in every

Direction so one two three four five six seven eight nine then we’re gonna go over here and do the exact same thing one two three four five six seven eight nine same thing over here nine and then same thing over there none i’m going to go ahead and do that really quick

Today we’ll be building this farm from the bottom up this is the bottom layer now the bottom layer definitely absolutely has to be built out of magma blocks if you build this thing out of anything else the creepers actually won’t get taken out which isn’t good after you’ve built nine blocks out in

Every direction you’re gonna want to go ahead and add an extra layer of blocks to either side of that we’re looking for an area that is three blocks wide nine blocks long coming out from the center we’re gonna do this on every single side the farm today the build is going to be

Basically perfectly symmetrical which means if you figure out one side all you need to do is like copy it again and again and again now not only will it be perfectly symmetrical each layer will be exactly the same which makes things even easier if you want to you could build

Like two layers of this farm i i don’t recommend doing that but you could uh or if you want to you can go crazy and build like 10 layers of the farm that’s up to you this is the base of our apartment also this is all of the magma

Blocks that we’ll need technically you could save one magma block by taking that one out if you want to and the middle build up three blocks this is gonna mark where our next floor is gonna go before we build our next floor we’ll start putting walls on this thing now

The walls on this thing unfortunately because of 1.18’s mob spawning mechanics are going to need to go all the way up like the entire length of the farm that’s going to be a lot of building blocks for sure also the walls that we’re setting up need to be completely

Solid so unfortunately no cutting things down with slabs or something like that and they need to not let any light in at all which means normal glass is out of the picture you can use tinted glass though which is what i’m going to use once we have the first layer of walls

And around this lower platform we can actually get our water sources in down here water source right there water source right there it’ll fill it in the middle and it’ll go to the center do it on every single side once you’ve done that you should have water that goes to

The center that kind of looks like this with that out of the way we can go back to building our walls so right now i’m going to add two more layers to the wall um that’s not gonna be all that we’re gonna do to the wall but two is fine for

Now so there we go this is what the farm looks like right now now it’s time for the first layer of the farm for the first layer we’re gonna go up here on this third block that’s gonna be the center from the center we’re gonna go

Seven blocks out so one two three four five six seven when we get this in we should have two extra blocks of space right there we’re gonna place a temporary block right there a fence gate right there and then open it then we’re gonna get rid of the temporary block and

We’re gonna finish filling in the floor in this section so with one side done we do it again one two three four five six seven temporary block fence gate open it right there remove that then we do it again over here one two three four five six seven

Temporary block fence gate open it remove that and then finally same thing over here the build is actually like really really easy once you get the hang of it so here we go fence gate remove that and then finish filling in the floor the floor needs to be solid all

Over the place except for the two dropping spots at the end we’re leaving the space two blocks wide in case spider spawn inside of this farm so we can get them out of it after setting up the first layer we have something that looks like this to finish everything off

Random block right there doesn’t matter at all then we’re gonna place a temporary block and then a permanent block right there then we can remove the temporary block next up we’re gonna set up our next floor the next floor is gonna be even with this spot right here

We’re gonna do the exact same thing seven blocks out one more fence skate right up there open it remove that we’re gonna fill it in all the way just like we did for the last layer and we’re gonna catch the walls up so add three more layers to the wall suit

Once you finish the fence gates the floor and the walls for this layer it’s time to add a couple more random blocks in the middle these blocks are gonna be taken out we’re just putting them there for now now we’re gonna dig down right here jump down to this layer remove this

Block and place a dispenser facing down on top of the dispenser facing up an observer if you have extra blocks in there like that it’s going to be really really easy to place now the dispenser we’re going to eventually have water inside of this thing dump the water out

Here flush the mobs off of this layer this is gonna be pretty cool however right now this layer is two blocks so two blocks tall not good zombie creeper so we want the creepers to spawn inside of this farm that’d be good but zombies definitely not if zombies are spawning

It’s gonna decrease the amount of creepers that can spawn not good notice anything about these two things a zombie is really really tall the creeper isn’t i can put a trap door right here and the creeper would still be able to spawn zombie though it doesn’t work the zombie

Is too tall all we need to do to limit zombie spawns and skeleton spawns inside this farm is cover the ceiling with trap doors however we can’t cover the entire ceiling with trap doors we’re gonna have water spilling out here which means we need to leave room for the water these

Blocks right in here next to the dispenser unfortunately need to have no trap doors which does mean technically we could have a zombie or skeleton spawn inside of the farm but there’s not really a way around it other things that unfortunately we can’t get away around spider spawning spider

Spawning is a little bit tricky if you have a two by two open area then a spider can spawn this area is three so spiders can definitely spawn us out of this farm but we’re leaving this area open like this so spiders will drop down the mega bloks will take the spiders out

Too i guess you’re gonna get bonus strength but anyways trap doors you’re gonna need to place trapdoors on every single ceiling block other than the middle four around the dispenser once you’ve done that on a layer you should have something that kind of looks like this right here lots of trapdoors in the

Ceiling the floor is open like that fence gates right there to get up to the next layer go back to the middle break out one of these blocks place some building blocks up here remove those place that back and now it’s time to do it again so what we’re

Going to do from this observer is skip that spot right there this is going to be the next spot for the floor we can cut that extra block out the observer stares at the ceiling now it’s time to start filling it in so you know how it

Goes at this point perfect symmetry in four directions five if you want to count each layer we’re gonna fill in the floor then i’m going to raise the walls three more blocks up then i’m going to put fence gates at the end of every layer after you’ve finished putting

Everything in for this layer it’s back to the center add a couple of random blocks right here to make your life easier dig your way down place a dispenser on the ceiling directly above the observer like that and then directly above the dispenser observer looking up now it’s trap door time again we’re

Gonna do the exact same thing skip these four blocks next to the dispenser fill the rest of the ceiling in with trapdoors now it’s very important that the space in here before the trap doors is two blocks tall if it’s any taller the trapdoors won’t be doing anything

And also other mobs will spawn that’s not the point of this farm after you finish this layer with the trapdoors and everything go back to the center break that out build a few blocks up get up to the next layer and do it again skip that block right there this is where the

Floor starts remove that block fill in the floor fill in the walls do the fence gates after you’ve finished all of that just like we’ve done before extra blocks in the middle dig down right there replace this with the dispenser facing down an observer facing up and then trap door time

There we go that layer’s done so right now we have one spawnable layer two spawnable layers three respondable layers and we’re starting our fourth this farm how i’ve designed it has five spawnable layers i feel like five is a good number you could do a little bit

Less if you wanted to it will cut down on materials or you could do a little bit more if you were to add more than five layers to this farm the amount of responsible space will go up which should mean your rates get a little bit

Better so if you need like a ton of gunpowder like really really quickly consider adding more floors to this farm it’s just gonna cost more materials after you finish the floor of the gates the wall exact same thing we’re going to jump down into the trapdoors again

Underneath here also we’re going to add one more dispenser one more observer make sure the dispenser faces it down the observer faces up this is really important anyways back to the trap doors once you have four layers built on this farm you should have something that kind

Of looks something like this now we’re basically done we made it finally so up here this final layer what we’re gonna do is build up like this start the ceiling right here same thing as always this time though the walls technically only need to go up two blocks if you

Want to save a few blocks we won’t be adding anything else on top of this layer unless you are but if you’re not you can make the wall too tall also because this is the final layer no more fence skate this time we’re gonna actually take this layer all the way out

To the edge so fill that in all the way now be careful when you do that it’s going to get really dark so you might want to just consider leaving that open for now come back later and add the blocks but if you wanted to you could

Right now either way though no fence gate on top of this layer this is the final layer aside from the wall maybe being a little bit shorter the floor being maybe a little bit longer and no fence gate this layer is exactly the same though after setting all of this up

We’ll put trapdoors on the ceiling at this point you know how it goes after you finish the ceiling go back to the middle add a couple extra blocks and then jump down now it’s gonna be a little bit different this time instead of an observer we just need a dispenser

Dispenser only no observer now uh we’re gonna do the trap doors again but this time the ceiling is a little bit different remember the ceiling overhangs this ledge you don’t need trapdoors out there so if i open this up so you can see more we have two extra ceiling

Blocks right there skip those ones doors start right here above the floor putting trap doors above the falling area is a waste of trap doors you don’t need them after you finish your trapdoors in the last layer the final thing that i recommend you do before you exit the

Farm is go back down through the farm and inside of every single dispenser place one water bucket that’s going to require you to dig your way back down through the farm but it’s really not that big of a deal if you were to have placed the water buckets inside of the

Dispensers earlier on the observers might have triggered the dispensers and water everywhere it would have been really annoying i’d like to give a mention of the shulkercraft for this part of the design it’s genius and that’s where i saw it first five water buckets one inside of every dispenser on

Each floor trap doors all over the ceiling fence gate in the middle to stop water from spilling out the farm is basically done next it’s time to set up a hopper clock on top of the farm so there are so many different ways that

You could set up a clock on top of this farm you don’t necessarily need to do a hopper clock if you don’t have the materials that’s fine i highly recommend these things though because you can customize them so much we’re going to start by building up one more layer of

Blocks like this so the clock doesn’t affect any of the trap doors add two more blocks right here and we’re good to go we’ll start by placing a temporary block right here and then have a hopper going into that temporary block remove the temporary block hopper going into

That hopper that’s gonna toss the items back and forth we’ll do a sticky piston right there and a sticky piston right over here behind the sticky piston we’re gonna do redstone dust and redstone dust right here comparator going out comparator going out right here block block and that’s it basically redstone

Block right there redstone dust right there and then when we’re ready to start the farm we’ll put one more redstone dust on top of that dispenser now the items inside of this hopper clock to power it i highly recommend the timing of 16 items i mean i’ve done a little

Bit of experimenting and i feel like this is a good timing to send this block back and forth flush mobs out and things like that but if you want to you can speed it up by taking items out if you want to slow it down add some items to

This add redstone dust right there so we have two pieces of redstone dust stringing over to the dispenser now when this moves over water is going to dump out on every single layer and flush the layers out if there were mobs here i bent you close to the farm which means

Mobs aren’t going to spawn afk distance we’ll talk about that at the end however before we move on to the item collection one final thing to consider if you are afk like at night time mobs could spawn up on top of the farm to stop that from happening couple torches on this thing

And you’ll be good the final piece of this farm today is item collection item collection is gonna be set up one block down below this farm so even with that stone block right there now remember uh we have locks above this one so we won’t have to run item collection under that

Block that’s gonna make it way easier this item collection system is going to be in a three by three ring this spot right here so pick a side where you want your chest to be uh each side is symmetrical doesn’t really matter i’m gonna pick this side that’s fine we’ll

Do a double chest right there remove that place the hopper going into this chest these blocks can be basically any building block after this setup we come in with seven normal rails we do three like that we do three right there and then one on top of the hopper two we’re

Gonna need one powered rail at the back of this thing and then a power source over here make sure the power rail is not next to the hopper if it is it’ll lock the hopper and the items actually won’t go into the chest that’s not good

The last thing that we need is hopper minecart small problem uh hopper minecart place on the thing is not going to move easy way to get it to move a couple extra building blocks right there trap door right there open the trap door close the trapdoor crawl over here push

The thing get out of the way quickly and there we go it’s going to spin forever and that’s the farm that’s the entire build so where do you afk if you want gunpowder well remember this mob spawning chart right here this chart wasn’t changed by 1.18 if you’re too

Close to the farm mobs aren’t going to spawn what you’re going to want to do is get away from this farm i highly recommend going like 25 or so blocks above the top layer of this farm that should hopefully be good you can set up a small platform you can just do

Scaffolding doesn’t really matter but maybe you don’t need an afk platform if you set this thing up near your base then you don’t need to worry about it just do things at your base you know have the farm loaded in and you’ll get gunpowder for free for doing literally
