Minecraft Deep Dark: The Warden And Ancient Cities

All right everybody it’s finally here the first real 1.19 snapshot with the ancient cities and the warden and rather than just laying out all the blocks using a spawn egg on the warden i want to experience this like we would if we just found this when we were in a survival world so

I know it’s pretty late game stuff with the warden so i’ve got full protection netherrite plus netherrite tools i’ve seen how much damage the warden can do if you’re caving though you might end up in a mine shaft and then you’ll find an ancient city poking out in a big cave

And we’re gonna drop in okay now we gotta be really careful of the skulk shriekers and try to avoid setting them off and there’s a lot of loot there’s like different areas i guess where there’s chests that we can find but oh we got to be

Real careful and i guess kind of the objective is um we can find a new enchantment called swift sneak and that’ll allow us to shift and move quicker really cool enchantment i like it kind of awesome now actually no other mobs will spawn in here it’s kind of just like you

The skulk sensors the shriekers and the warden so i have wool on me because you can use that to occlude a side of a skulk sensor from transmitting its waves so that you know hopefully uh you don’t get your frick oh god it can hear me it can hear me

Okay if we open the chest it’s also going to be able to hear me so maybe maybe what i want to do is i want to try shifting over here and no don’t do that okay there’s no shriekers nearby here at least smite oh it’s not swift snake okay we

Can get some books i’m just learning about the loot in these chests for the first time the only thing that i know is that you can get the the new swift sneak enchantment oh god stop stop listening to me oh there’s another chest over here

I think you’re fine as long as as long as they don’t transmit to a skulk shrieker i think we’re okay i mean obviously i do want the warden to spawn at some point because i think that’ll be interesting we’ll see how it acts so maybe i shouldn’t be like too careful

And we also kind of want to experience the darkness effect i still don’t see any shriekers so dude there’s this whole like crazy center part i wish i could zoom in on it but obviously there’s no optifine this just got dropped today and it’s not even in the launcher

It’s like you go to the website and you can download the the version and bring it into your versions folder in minecraft and that’s how you install i’ll link it in the description if you want to try this out and if you want to get here quickly you can

I wanna i wanna get the authentic experience here do what torches i could put down any shriekers okay so the blocks up there that you see in that ring they’re reinforced deep slates now i’m sure you’re already thinking reinforce you’re making a connection there as to what it might be able to do

We’ll get to that in another world but you know i’m sure you know what’s up but i don’t want to spoil it quite yet oh there’s some shriekers down there okay we got to be careful oh there’s a lot of wool over here so at least we can

Walk on this without concern oh there’s a lot of wool in here actually yeah it’s a lot of gray wool i don’t know if there’s any like specific spot in here where it’s kind of like the jackpot loot if there’s anything maybe there’s like a

Spot in the center it could also be a mistake now i guess you can also get the ancient cities that generate with like aquifers going through them so that can kind of and kind of mess up certain areas seems like swift sneak and the reinforced deep slate are probably the most

Valuable things what is this in here by the oh it’s just like a fire pit oh i set one off okay the skulk shriekers there aren’t there aren’t quite as many as i was thinking that there would be okay let’s keep going it seemed like maybe the loot spots were

Kind of off to the side and by sticking to the middle i’m kind of just avoiding them which is probably not what you want to do maybe over there no okay at least there’s some lanterns oh it’s probably i bet there’s some loot spots yeah off in

The side area there’s a shrieker in there though oh god oh god that’s so creepy oh no darkness oh jeez bro no did i set it off again i’m on the wall i’m just on wall i’m just on a wall oh my god stop no no no no no no

Okay he might not have a counter to just build the vault hunter strategy succeeds again i’m just gonna okay um yeah you know it’s a snapshot i feel like they’re they’re gonna implement something so you can’t just build up they’ve got it they’ve got it this is

Like too easy of a solution i mean granted it’s a little annoying that i’m now not going to be able to loot properly now i don’t actually know how much health he has part of me wants to see like also how many wardens are there if you if you eliminate the warden

Then is that that is there one warden or if you just keep setting off the skulk shriekers will more happen by the way this is a sharpness five now they’re right man’s got some health i’m not quitting but man’s got some health i’ll give him that

Also it’s cool that you can tell by like the heartbeat you can see like how angry he is right so like the faster it’s beating and obviously you hear the sound too can you even is is he invincible i need like a boss bar on the top okay there we go

He’s been got he’s been guy he doesn’t drop anything which makes sense cause again i think the whole idea is the warden is not necessarily supposed to be something to be farmed it’s more just here to defend the ancient city from my looting it and getting the swift sneak but again

You don’t there are no other mobs other than the bats oh the bat wait can the bat ruin you can the bat screw you over does it have to be i assume it has to be player right imagine you’re doing so well when a bat flies in and just ruins your life

Okay no swift snake there so is that shrieker like it’s it’s deactiv oh it’s not deactivated oh there’s another shrieker over there again not like this not like this well i needed the snowball guys i forgot the most important critical part the snowball i’m going guy can you i

Wonder if you can spawn multiple wardens at the same time mans be echo locating really well though okay oh dude the bat the bat might be like saving my life right now i think the bat is setting off the skulk sensors and it’s actually causing the warden to like not know

Where it’s going okay some zombies came in yeah mobs don’t spawn like in here okay i should have grabbed those snowballs there we go remember to come when we come in with some snowballs if you can holy crap um still okay where’s mr warden the zombie might

Be my lifesaver right now oh he’s over there okay i want to see if i can distract the mans okay he’s distracted oh okay he’s distracted with the b literally is the bat is setting off the sensors and he’s not having it bro get yourself a bat friend and you’ll

Be you’ll be great also uh oh what if you okay so there’s other there’s shriekers over here if i just build across with wool okay so it does seem like at least the mobs can’t set them off i know the skulk sensors or the shriekers can only really

Be set off directly by stepping on them but i don’t know if [Applause] okay appears mobs might be able to still set it off another one you can have multiple i didn’t realize this they’re multiple at once guys this is not okay but this is not okay

All right thought it was a one-off thing um yep you can just oh it’s very dark ah it’s very dark okay i just see the skulk and that’s pretty will it attack the zombie will get mad at the zombies only will it only attack me

I feel like it’s about to go dark and then get bright again and the zombie is just gonna be oh he no like the zombie making sound nope why you disturb my slumber okay you die now oh my god oh he’s not into that is it mad at me [Laughter]

So dark god this is like some kind of horror movie here jesus oh no there’s more shriekers bro i swear he’s able to find they’ve engineered this city so that they have ways to navigate it’s it feels like i am the warden right wait there’s straight other trees down

Here what in the oh oh it’s the mine shaft it’s the mine shaft okay so some of the blocks that you’re seeing in here if you didn’t catch the another one if you didn’t god jesus what three of them i’m dealing with three of these boys now i didn’t think

It would be this way uh if you missed the last video i did maybe you’re that’s a catalyst and then the shriekers obviously they get set off enough of those wardens funds but the catalyst basically just check out the last video that i did on the bedrock snapshot but

When mobs okay we’re far enough away when mobs die in their vicinity takes that xp and it spawns skulk blocks which can then be mined in order to farm experience okay there could be some swift sneak over here it is really a it’s really a fruitless effort dealing with these freaking things

I really thought wool would another one no oh my god it’s once it seems like bro once once you have the warden once the warden has happened any sequential shriekers it’s just more it’s just more wardens oh my god it’s just uh it’s just a snowball effect it’s the snowball

Effect of not having enough snowballs well a swift sneak doesn’t really seem to be happening for me here if we’re being honest but this has been a harrowing experience wait wait wait wait wait maybe this is new i don’t even care i’m just spawning wardens for days now i just want to loot

I just oh god okay reckless abandon no it’s just name tags and bones and skulk sensors i’m just we’re just yoloing at this point we’re just yoloing at this point i’m just going i can’t see a dang thing but i really want to get i really want to get a

Swift sneak if i can find it i don’t know if i’m going to be able to i don’t even know where i am running through dark maze oh god oh this is is this an area here is this an area here where i can collect is this lootable space you know it’d be

A lot easier to loot if i could potentially see what i’m doing no i think i’ve con gone to the back end of the city oh my goodness that might be a spot right over there it’s okay if i don’t get swift sneak legitimately i will i’ll just

Give it to myself through other means and then we’ll be able to investigate it but there’s another it’s going to spawn another warden it’s going to spawn another one it’s going to spawn another one i didn’t ask for this wait is this a spot this might be a looting spot i

Think this is a looting spot over here yeah yeah yeah you can always tell but again as long as you don’t step on the shirt frick there’s another way no oh swift snake we got it mission accomplished uh uh it’s time to go it’s time to go i’ll see

You later man so this is going to be swift sneak 2 out of 3 levels we’ll apply it here this is a very legitimate anvil definitely ignore the creative mode text so this is us sneaking quickly versus much much slower without it i suppose we might as well just for full comparison

Get ourselves swift sneak three on our boots but it does seem like you’re pretty much almost going as fast walking as you do sneaking let’s see okay we are now swift sneak 3d and yeah okay dude shifting is super quick this is awesome this is such a cool enchantment honestly

But anyway okay let me let’s go back up into the overworld you’ve you’ve got the basic overview what the ancient city looks like the deep dark the warden so on and so forth and uh maybe we’ll put on some swift sneak in it slightly brighter area

Turning off view bobbing seems to be a better comparison swift sneak 3 which i have on right now seems to be pretty much the same speed as walking pretty negligible if there is any difference and another thing to note is you can’t combine swift sneak with depth strider or soul speed so

You’ve gotta have let’s be like a different set of armor or something like the set of armor that you use in order to explore the ancient cities something like that anyway okay a bit more about the reinforced deep slate uh first off this isn’t really realistic what i’ve done here because you can’t

Actually harvest it um i mean you can break it but this is an efficiency five netherright pickaxe and uh you’ll be doing this for a long time and it won’t drop anything now this the the thing the way it’s set up in the ancient city it really looks like a portal or something

I don’t know if that’s maybe 1.20 we get a new dimension or something like that that would be kind of cool or if there will be a way to harvest it but in its current states it is worth mentioning like it’s blast proof you know i i heard reinforced deep

Slate and i’m like oh is it like reinforced obsidian from i can’t remember which mod it’s from but i’ve used it quite a bit and uh so i go ahead and spawn the wither in here and lo and behold it can’t can’t break it

So you know i i guess it’s kind of like bedrock in the sense that you can’t actually collect them you can’t break it so if you do find an ancient city i guess maybe don’t break the the ancient or the reinforced deep plate just in case it does turn into a portal

At a future date and you’re like i can’t believe i broke that that was really dumb of me and i didn’t get anything from it so uh something to bear in mind but it’s strong stuff at the very least the catalyst i guess it’s worth just showing it again because they’ve made

Like a minor update to it so if you missed the last video going a little bit more into detail about the catalysts and and the shriekers and whatnot um i think you get the idea of of the shriekers from us just spending time in the ancient city

But with the catalyst if you have a mob die within the range of it it will spread skulk blocks around it and then you can in survival mine those in order to get experience from them as long as you don’t have silk touch which this pickaxe is still touch but if we

Just mine it with our fist we’ll get some experience and something to mention though is you’ll see now there’s actually uh some new particle effects like there’s this little bubbly thing and the sound effects of the uh the skulk blocks actually spreading so just you know slight changes to things also the closer

That the mob is to the the catalyst when it dies the stronger the signal will be from it and there are also circumstances in which uh a mob dying will actually spread some shriekers and sensors as well it was a very specific criteria a little difficult to understand with the charge

Rate and stuff like that um but in any case there is a chance that that when you slay a mob um it’ll spawn other blocks outside of just the the regular skulk blocks and the skulk veins which again are new here but we’re on the bedrock snapshot

Anyway that gets most of the high level stuff for this i do think we’ll probably see some pretty significant changes as the new snapshots are rolled out i do think they’ll try to address just being able to build up and get away from the warden that way because it’s a little

Bit too easy and i do hope we’ll see some like a little bit more exciting loot inside of those uh structures especially to justify the risk if you can’t just build up in a way from from the warden but really cool i’m excited for this update
