A good day good day today where are we Lance Oh was this Serena like doing feed the beast no I blacked out yeah when we mentioned feed the beast he just went living so what’d you feed him to an animal yeah so if you don’t feed the beast is it is a Mod pack which has come out relatively recently about November 2011 and it has a lot of awesome mods and we decided to start a new series where we start from scratch and we do whatever we want I guess you say November 2011 so very late 2012 no every year old either way you Can tell that we need to help he doesn’t have facts about your flower well I’ve got you guys something better because of you guys do you know anything about feed the beast don’t know we’ll probably die you even know how to play Minecraft no not that well not at all I’ll tell you What I’ve got a mentor I’ve got a teacher that knows everything about feed the beast he’s been there since the start of development he’s friends with the development team he said he is direwolf 20 day today wonderful island of wispy nightmares yes oh yeah sweet nightmares there’s orbs like floating around and it’s Floating blue orbs so Dolph welcome thank you sir to have you here we definitely need your help with feed the beast to get us going since he’s gonna do for this first episode is hop in and teach us the very basics and you guys hopefully what feed the beast is all About and get us going with the very basic machines and maybe get us going with industrialcraft 2 which is apparently a very good starting point is that right sure yeah that’s a great place it’s one start at least anyway which I know a little bit about and from There he’s gonna set us off and he’ll come back every now and again just to see how we’re doing maybe come back I say what the then fix everything for us so thank you very much sure and I guess we’ll hand it over to you got to explain what what is All this stuff why is this so I guess the a good place to start the best way to teach you guys how to get started with this mod pack and all the stuff to do in the mod pack is to teach you guys how to teach yourselves so a good way to Do that is with nei which stands for notenoughitems if you open up your inventory screen you should see a bunch of blocks on the right hand side okay yes that’s a ton yeah and if you okay on your keyboard it’ll hide it for you so You don’t have to say oh it’s gone good okay yep on the bottom you can search for something so if you type the word iron in the bottom search bar it’ll filter what’s on your right and only show you items within with the word iron in the name good useful yeah that’s very Useful and you can right click on that search bar to clear it ah I didn’t know that that’s very useful yeah so there’s another tip you can do so for example find your pistons over on your sidebar there put your mouse over it and hit the Our key on your keyboard off the press the R key yeah when hovering over piston o and it brings up the recipe I see that’s very useful so the best way to build a machine if you don’t know what recipe is like just find it in any I Here and hit our lovely another cool tip if you mouse Oh for an item and hit the U key it’ll show you all the recipes that use that item so like if you mouse over wool for example I’ll show you how to make signs and and beds and all that stuff oh that Is useful so it goes the opposite way as opposed to just breaking down what makes it both of what it uses what’s useful so a good way to figure out like hey I got this weird or you know what am I gonna do with this and you can track it down And it’ll also show you smelting recipes so like if you hit you over your iron ore you’ll see like some crafting you can hit the arrows on the top of the screen to change from like shapeless crafting to smelting to macerator and these are the different machines that Are available in the mod so you can start there’s a bunch of different machines that can deal with iron ore and it’ll tell you what you’ll get when there’s a squeezer yep what’s the squeeze uh squeeze so how many mods are on this then how many mods are in this Pack 57 something around like 57 yeah pretty close to that number it’s it’s a lot there’s some mods add a small amount of content some mods add a huge amount of content a lot of mods add like machines and automation steps there’s other mods that add magic abilities and I mean there’s just a lot to cover yeah so it’s a little hard for me to explain everything about everything so let’s just start with the one month then so Industrial Craft would be good yeah I think Industrial Craft is a nice mod it’s one of the oldest mods it’s been Around for the longest time I originally picked it up I think either in alpha or early beta I’m pretty sure it was right around the time the Halloween pack expansion came out that added the nether I think maybe a little bit after that but yeah it’s definitely one of the Earliest mods out there and it adds electrical power so it has ways to generate electricity store electricity and it adds a bunch of machines that can use that electricity ah that’s cool sarin yeah industrial copulatory adds power and energy to the game yeah I don’t if you notice that we’ve had our Goal here was yeah I prepared a little tiny Hut go and for beds it’s a bit of a squeeze I’m not gonna lie this is Oh screw you coulda made it big on this con it’s gonna be cozy but on the on my travels to this place Finding a nice place what is it this place and dirt make it so we can’t fit in this is my side this is my side you can’t segregate so you can’t have two beds to say I’ve got enough room alright so I’m on my travels and it’s Collected a load of resources I hope these can be useful why don’t I show you guys before we jump right into machines how about a couple basic machine like items and tools and a couple of simple things to get started you know okay wait till day yeah okay fresh day and sleep With me Smith come on all right lovely oh wow who spawned outside hey Smith there’s one bed which is JC so let’s go down into your mining tunnels that you’ve got so far has everyone got swords oh no I don’t right now typically you’ll need an iron Pickaxe what I’m gonna show you but I have one so we can kind of get started with that and I’ll show you what you can make so you can see there’s a ton of new world generation in here tons of new types of ore and materials and as you’re Going down you’ll see all kinds of crazy stuff yes tons I better go help power thing up which is the top right tells you what it is like an alum anymore here and this one was a chromium crystal oh wow yeah the crystals water stone amber bearing stone this is awesome there’s Loads of new things Reds are corium or this is where it can get overwhelming because yeah there’s so many different things it’s just like some look like tamam see what happens green sapphire yep now this is good stuff you’ll actually find three colors of this green red and blue and these are From red power too and I’m just gonna go ahead and mine them and whoever picks them up is I call some thieves the loggia so green sapphires good yes show you why sapphire and there’s actually a green and blue sapphire and then there’s a ruby You can go ahead and use them to make tools and the tools that they make or have the same mining speed as diamond and the same ability but speed so it’s a really great way to get started mining who had three there’s three to my Smith’s got one well you can borrow After me you can have one swinging share swings Oh worry we’ll we swing this up here this is khorium ores that’s different yeah we don’t need that do we need that quarry more direwolf not at the moment yeah that makes some really cool looking Box okay so you guys can make a bunch of tools and stuff with them oh he’s gone it’s okay everything’s okay I just had a panic is that fall that is actually kind of used as a fertilizer from forestry yep so you guys actually got a pretty decent starting here Because you got this nice little cave to mine you have you got the money shot wow this is like yeah see how calm and collected direwolf was so shocked to see him no one else was react to us at what was they don’t know what I’ve seen him I Don’t – all the votes would be exploded Julie you my fault there’s some there’s some stuff over here I found some goodies what’s that what you say sapphire oh is that the other type of gem yep so we got rubies green sapphire I’m collecting as much as we can looks Great it all looks good I mean obviously normal minecraft you know you see any oh wow this is Cole this is normal but like now you’re seeing that all these like fancy things that says sapphire Wow I like how I want to all yours have natural bioluminescence also uh the blue Sapphires used to be called it are the green sapphires I mean used to be called emeralds oh okay then my crap is like hate we’re adding emeralds oh I see well you guys got a couple resources already so why don’t we go upstairs and see what We’ve got and if we can get a couple basic machines go deep reset explain you pretty made it explain whoever it was what gem is on your cape time oh wow I guess it’s pretty good then to have it as a cape right the the industrialcraft Guys made these capes for people who are on the industrial craft team so I’m uh I’m like a tester slash spotlight er so I do the videos for them kind of like you guys do the videos for promotion I do a lot of videos for the mod developers strangely absent capes though Hey yeah we did strangely you’re dying you need some yeah I’m dying swimming mate I got some yeah actually I got steak so I’m okay so thankfully I did a lot of the resource collecting earlier this is something I prepared earlier what is the electron why didn’t you make This at least three – God’s sake I know it’s just I can’t even jump house this is just literally this is it needs to be burnt down like if I don’t see it burnt down at some point I’ll be annoyed well the good thing is is an inspirational Bill just like I do better oh yes I guess so yeah so we’ll move on from here that this is a good tutorial island for die walls – yeah this part do you need a little bit more space I don’t know if you want to build outside and then put a House around it later oh yeah sure we’ll build outside okay so we’re good amount of iron industrial growth is an iron heavy mod so use an amount of that stuff there’s some rubber trees here yep you get it for to get it from the trees yep you’re gonna need Five pieces of wood not from the rubber trees though don’t cut them down we want to trees up and running look up in any eye how to make a tree tap it just requires one two three four five blocks of wood yep sorry planks already I’m Way Ahead are you really gonna tap so I want to make one on my gonna I’m the best student here easily so the class on top of the class okay so I’ve made to treat amps do you want to treetop Smith you may come on ya Be call a mate that would be would do you what you want one sickle and I’ll show you that thing – stone sickle don’t sickle I don’t know what that is okay so we need a stone sickle and a tree tap several got one of those I did have I Had I had a tree tap and I used up and got sparrow that sticky residue oh so you just hit the tree with it yep I’ll show you where you can do it it’s it’s those little orange with the stone circle with the tree tap the tree time yep I’m going to do this as well this is the truth is a rubber tree okay so if you come over to this one for example okay now the thing about these orange spots is if you hit them once they’ll give you a couple pieces of resin and then They’ll regenerate out over time so you can come back and keep harvesting them without cutting down the tree but it’s shown if you keep harvesting out of the same spot it might not regenerate right so I can put my tap on there and that’s chuck some out there okay and then just Wait a little bit of time and it’ll regenerate that resident oh we’ve got some more trees but and this is some more truth to find that little spawn there nice so I missed the excavation what is the simple do the sickle go ahead and use it on some leaves on a Tree yeah oh wow it was just a big way of destroying a lot of leaves is it yep it works on both leaves and tall grass so if you use it on like tall grass and flowers at all clear it all up quick Patrick that’s good oh man I found some Resin here how good lovely most happiest there mate kappa that’s more trop awesome so what do we do with the the sticky resin ah you need to put it in a furnace to get started and you will get one piece of rubber a / sticky resin When you cook it in the first hour rubber tree is normally quite this common they’re common in swamp biomes okay so they’re all really rare outside of swamp biomes but when you’re in here you get a lot and I wouldn’t cook all your rubber save some okay maybe I’ve Got 12 sticky resin sorry I want to show you guys got five there’s eight in there and then I’ve got I’ve also got prepared 12 rubber in the chest okay so you got some old some you prepared our listeners get out of bed earlier because I venture To this place lupita there’s a slight blue Peter just like in making learning fun I love the stone sickle no more will be punching right leaf blocks Oh get rid of a tree well I guess you’re amazing useful even place tortoise on a silence and no monsters would spawn Nearby we can work through the night and while you guys are doing that I’m making you a present present let’s check out this guy is called the project table oh wow he’s an upgraded version of a crafting table the really cool thing about this is I don’t Know if you guys have ever noticed you probably have because you record together a lot if one person is using a crafting table you can’t see what the other person is crafting right yeah okay so check that out nice okay so number one you can do that number two what you Can do is you can put a recipe in the top area here and then you place all the components of that recipe in the bottom and go ahead and click the item the oak planks on the right so it just feeds it in does it yep you got it so when you Pull it out there it’ll pull from the bottom items and I’ll keep the recipe intact on the top it seems like we can’t use it seems like we can’t put these things in the bomba you see a pepper if I put something there like a slime ball there Yeah I can see that yeah but while we’re on the topic of that you might notice there’s this little slot on the left side yeah the paper okay so let’s see I’m going to get from here some stuff so what you can do in this slot is watch This if you craft so I’m gonna put some some the recipe for paper and there and the sugar canes on the bottom yeah so see how I’m pulling out and it’s taken the the sugar canes on the bottom there if you grab the last one it’ll grab the Recipe out it’ll clear it out if you grab the last of it yeah and then you see these flowers yep that makes this ah indigo dye stuff okay and if you combine the two of them you get blank plans okay I also like a blueprint I see yep Clever so we’ll use these in a minute when we come up with something good to use them for so you guys have a bunch of rubber and copper right do you have any copper in here yeah don’t you pick a name I’ve got like ten or fifty-three ingots there yep go ahead And bring them out to the project table and whatever copper you’ve cooked up so far so the first thing we want to make with our rubber and copper is awesome wiring and the wires will transmit energy between machines and it’s also used in some of the recipes we’re going To need okay and the way to make that is place rubber on the top and bottom lines and copper through the middle okay six copper cables but before we do that Trott go ahead and place one of the blank plans in the left slot oh and then Hit the right button oh what’s it done since I made a it’s made a plan of this recipe so what does that do go ahead and take the plan out yeah and see how it cleared the table yeah and put it back in I also create simply the set so you don’t have To keep messing with it every time so you can litters okay and then you take out your your your copper wires there oh it just takes it from the bottom that’s great and see how it turns the rubber red because that’s what you’re missing right now Very useful let’s go that if you want to keep very the same things yeah yeah yeah and if they forget the recipes as well it’s just you’ve got the plans there yep and you’ll notice when you mouse over the plans the tooltip tells you like what items are required and what makes Lovely that’s very useful so how do we make a project table so it’s just a crafting table surrounded with wood and a chest that’s pretty easy having and you’ll notice one thing about red power to recipes and items they kind of make sense a lot so like this is a crafting Table with an inventory and it’s got stone on the top so it kind of makes sense with the recipe right yeah what looks oh yeah oh I see the stone yeah gotcha useful so we need cables we’ve got copper cables now yep which which powers oh I see a rather big they are Chunky ya know ya know your average cable they’re monster cable scissor oh yeah so the EU is the power yep which goes through these cables correct to machines which we’re gonna build I guess in a bit yep so I think the next thing we should probably build is a generator so go Ahead and look that up in any eye there and you’ll discover the recipe for a generator generator this it’s full different kind so just the normal one yeah yep you got it right that’s confusing items okay well I refined iron so how would you make a make refined I So that’s a separate thing and also iron furnace yep so you can run an re battery so we gotta find out how to make all these so inside this recipe you can hit our on for example that refined iron and it’ll show you okay so it’s just I’ve got two schematic sharing here Oh god what why is that there’s two different ways to make it so some some recipes have multiple ways to make you know the same item so refined iron.if shapeless crafting requires about seven ingles yeah I don’t have to worry about the shapeless crafting one hit the arrows on The top right so normal smoke you just smell tonight ain’t got it gives you a refined iron ink oh you got okay so we just whack iron in the furnace you got and we got that yep so you’re gonna need um let’s go ahead and make maybe 24 Refined iron so I can I can start making this generator with the machine block sure I’ll do that yep I usually make it with machine block it’s the same amount of iron whether you go with the iron furnace method or the machine block method yeah so it’s just a Ring of refined iron yep okay if you want to be like super technical the other way is a little cheaper because you only need five iron and three refines so you’re saving a little bit of coal but oh I see it’s an extra step isn’t it yeah let’s make the iron furnace Okay so got more than that finding God have you got any um Redstone’s oh yeah there’s some of the chest and just making a furnace last thing I need that’s a copper cable Jew designed the chest as well you comfortable you got one of those just I did you see I’ve got Cables on me they go just check one for me and I’ll make that okay so if you make that in the table then I can put this Oh George I’m making this table ever gonna see ya okay so I believe it was to make the battery we got this we Got ten Tinian got to either side yeah and the redstone dust in the middle the recipe makes sense is got the battery it’s pretty much the shape of its you’ve got a shell in there okay so we got battery then to make the generator the machine block furnace battery boom Generator so this generates power yep and then we want to make something to store power so let’s make a bat box be a tbo X right that box yep okay and that would take just different types of any type of plank wood bat box okay so that’s yeah thanks and then three Batteries so in these makes three batteries like that isn’t it and then you put the cable there mm-hm and then the three batches across the middle Ross oh do we only need one bat box for now yeah okay there we go what you doing right alright so where we Would replace this then you can build you’re gonna need a decent amount of space because you’re gonna have a couple machines hooked up to this so it started to be fair I think we probably will build these machines and then once you’ve gotten understanding which Mike or migrate to a nicer house setting Actually place it let’s do something do you have any more tin maybe like yeah I’ve got um nine okay put two in the project table for me and I’ll show you guys how to make bronze it’s pretty easy to make some statues probably we have some Bronx tensions so That’s the recipe for Braun’s real easy three copper and wanton and we’re gonna use that to make this guy a bronze wrench so somebody grab that I’ll bring it with them oh I’m trying to can’t seem to think of you shift-click it works so yeah all right yeah that works yeah it’s Shift-clicking seem to work for me you got it the most evil person yeah oh no hits or the wrench alright so wherever you guys want to go sit down and put your machines okay well I mean did you want to just generator first alright I’ve got that you can you Probably for industrial craft you want to keep your machines kind of close together because as energy travels down a wire it kind of loses power and you’ll kind of be a little bit wasteful of your electricity if you have a really long cable so what you can do industrialcraft generators emit Electricity when you put coal in them okay so we need coal to power this thing I got one cause I’ve got loads hold on so you open up the box interface you’ll see it’s the generator is creating electricity for you okay and it’s being stored in the battery box well you hit It with the wrench I’ve tried to right-click it and it just exploded not even facing the right way now it’s facing outwards liability I’m really sorry about this guys I feel really stupid okay so we got all the coal in there and it’s transmitting the power to this Batbox yep and then when the bad box fills up the generator will stop using coal okay do we actually see the bats yeah when will the bats come out Video Information
