Hello everybody my name is marlo and today i have a bit of a different video for you all i’m gonna be showing you how i find my inspiration to build things in minecraft now i play this game quite a lot and when i’m not playing i’m usually Thinking about what i want to build next time i do in fact play so a lot of my ideas will just come from my own brain but more often than not i’ll need a little nudge from an external resource shall we say and if i do find that i Need a bit of extra help i will resort to the world wide web which is where most of my inspiration comes from so today’s video is going to be different because we’re not going to spend a lot of time in minecraft we’re actually gonna spend a lot of time Looking at my browser so here we are on a little website called google you may have heard of it before it’s really helpful for finding minecraft inspiration not much else though so let’s say we have an idea of what we actually want to build that’s step number one just to think of something That you want to make in minecraft for this instance let’s say we’re going to build some sort of in maybe we’re building a village potentially and i want to add an in building or a tavern whatever you want to call it into the mix so we’ve figured out what we want to Build now we just have to figure out what we want it to look like now there’s various things you could do here you could either just type in minecraft medieval let’s say that’s the style we’re going with and we’re going to put in at the end that way you can Have a look around on google images here for actual minecraft buildings of inns this is probably the best thing to do if you really want to have some specific ideas as to what it looks like but there are other things you could search for hey this looks like a pretty good video So what i like to do is look for concept art so we’re not even going to have anything to do with minecraft at the moment i’m just going to type in medieval win concept art it’ll quite often come up when you’re typing in specific buildings and this gives you a Realistic image as to what a medieval in might look like let’s take this one for example you could probably look at that and replicate it pretty well in minecraft obviously not exactly we can’t really had have walls like that specifically in minecraft unless you up the scale a Little bit but you gotta take it with a grain of salt you’re not gonna be able to replicate it perfectly but it should give you a pretty good idea as to what you’re aiming towards especially where the shape is concerned that right there is the number one thing i struggle with In building in minecraft or at least getting started what the shape of the building is gonna look like the hardest thing to do is just start placing blocks so when i’ve got a good idea of what i want each section of the building to look like it Just helps me get started and then i can go from there and add in all of the detail and the stuff that i’m used to doing but just getting started and figuring out the basic image in my head that’s what i struggle with so when you’ve got a reference image of sort it Can be really really helpful so my advice would be if you’ve got an idea on what you want to specifically build but not sure how to build it head to google and have a look around like we’ve just done there but if you don’t have any ideas at all And you want some fresh brand new inspiration head to a wonderful little website called pinterest i would honestly recommend making a pinterest account that is solely for minecraft that’s what i have here so when you’ve used it enough and done some searching around for minecraft like builds you can Just scroll down the homepage here and be bombarded by minecraft and occasionally some ads or concept art which is actually what i used to look around here for quite a lot on pinterest it’s a very very helpful resource especially if you’re lacking that first idea because there is just so many Different style of builds going on here one of these is bound to inspire something that you want to build in minecraft of course you can make use of the search bar if you want to look for something more specific you can see my recent searches here i’ve been looking Around for a smithy build i built a water mill in my survival world so i wanted to get some ideas there i needed block pallets help and just generally a very vague minecraft fantasy builds if we maybe just click on this one you can see once again loads more stuff comes up And i know i’m making this video here but i’m just having a look at some of these and i want to kind of stop this one and go build something but no we’ll carry on here and i’ll give you some more tips something else that’s really helpful With pinterest is you can make different pin boards so you can see here i have four different sections i’ve got one for landscaping one for concept art one for just little details so not really whole builds more smaller specific things and then a whole build section so let’s Maybe click on my concept one here you can see all of the concept art images that i see on my home page that i really really like i then save them here and i can come back to them later and just have a scroll through on this if i’m Looking for some ideas you can also do the same with instagram i have a separate minecraft account for that too and it’s just really helpful if you go on this section right here have a scroll through and you’ll just find loads and loads of minecraft builds if you just Use the account for that and that alone a great place to find some beginning inspiration we’re going to head back into minecraft very shortly but before we do i have one last thing to show you when looking around on google for some images so let’s say you’ve got an idea Of what you want to build maybe we’re just making a house to begin with here and we’ve already got the structure in place maybe you know what it’s going to look like you’ve already made a start but you want to add in some smaller details some finishing touches to make It feel like a finished home that’s when you can have a look around here to just type in whatever you’re building and you just want to load up some of the images and look for tiny details that you like the look of so snippets almost so blue nerd here Blue nerd is a great creator love his builds he’s very talented he’s used this lectern railing design i’ve also used this before in the past it’s a great little feature so maybe you could take that and incorporate that into your build maybe you could have a look at Another one here let’s take this build for example quite like the bushes there next to the staircase that sort of thing it doesn’t have to be exact replicas of the details that you’re taking but just to give you an idea of what you want to build this one has a lovely flower Garden out the front maybe you could add that into your build if it’s missing something like that or even you could take this idea and i’m thinking maybe turn it into a little bit of a pond instead of a garden just outside the front so just small snippets of the Build that you’re looking to take as inspiration of course if you’re a content creator like myself you wanna be sure to give credit if you’re gonna take a large portion of someone’s build no one’s gonna mind if you just take a simple idea that’s consistent of two or Three blocks i’m certainly not gonna mind so i don’t mind doing it however if you’re going to be inspired by a whole build and make something that’s very similar looking you want to be sure to give credit it’s the right thing to do having said that most people Watching this video right now probably aren’t going to be making minecraft videos but i wanted to mention it nonetheless so the next thing i want to talk about is how to get building ideas from inside the game itself something i like to do is load up this world and Have a look around at the landscape so this is just a creative world it’s where i do all of my build tutorials there’s a little sneak peek of one i’ve recently done not sure if it’s been uploaded yet so i’m not going to show you the whole thing But this is also the world i come to just to fly around so i go into spectator mode because you can get around a little bit quicker that way and i just zoom around and look at all the minecraft landscape and let it inspire me which of course now we have The wonderful terrain of 1.18 is even better i can look at this and just imagine what i would build on it it doesn’t necessarily help you with specific ideas i would recommend maybe doing this exact same thing inside of your actual survival world if you’re looking to build a certain thing in a Certain area but just picturing what i would build on this spot for instance helps me be inspired to make other things basically what i’m saying is that it gets the creative juices flowing something else i do which is similar to that is head into my old survival worlds And have a look around similar to what i would do in my creative world so just walking around this place makes me feel inspired to build some more things not quite sure what’s going on there but the point is i was obviously very inspired making this custom village and walking around Here kind of brings back that feeling so maybe it’s not bringing back the feeling to build something similar but just to make me you know inspired to build anything in minecraft is exactly what it’s doing honestly having said that walking around this place does really make me want to build another custom Village of a similar size i feel like i haven’t done one for a very long time so head into some of your old survival worlds or creative worlds if that’s how you play and take a look around maybe do your own little tour and see if they can Bring back the same feelings they once brought all those years ago another thing i like to do inside of minecraft is load up any sort of creative world and just have a look through the creative menu of all of the blocks that i can use here so For example in my survival world at the moment i’m trying out loads of different block palettes with a bunch of different builds and really going in deep with all of the items i have available to me so what i’ve been doing recently is this just kind of having a look around at all Of the options i have and maybe one of these blocks can spring upon an idea of something you could build with them you don’t only have to stick to the building block section by the way you can actually go into decoration blocks here and there’s some real nice ones Especially at the bottom there’s also some more miscellaneous only a few also redstone there’s some so just have a look around the creative menu and maybe there’s some blocks here that you’ve never thought of using before that you could possibly chow in a build now there is another way to find inspiration that Isn’t online and isn’t in minecraft and that is real life so what you could do is head outside and take a look at some of the buildings around where you live the only trouble with that is they’re all gonna be fairly similar or at least of a similar style and that doesn’t really Give you many options for building inspiration and it’s not that easy just to book a flight somewhere and go to a different place with another style of architecture so we are once again resorting to google this time google images as well as google maps so with google images it’s fairly Self-explanatory you just type in whatever you’re looking for and have a look at some of the buildings and similar to what we mentioned earlier about the concept art you just try and replicate it inside of minecraft to your best ability again very limited with the blocks you can use you’re not going to Be able to create something as detailed as this building but it hopefully should give you an idea of the general shape and style of the specific architecture type in google maps you’re able to access the entire world pretty much that has been mapped at least in street view So if we just grab this little man down here you can see all of these highlighted areas you can drop him there and just drive around or walk around as though you were really there so let’s maybe pick an area you’re going to have to place him down first and not drop Anywhere maybe we want to build something roman what better place to go than rome so let’s head here and just plonk ourselves right in the middle of the city this may not be that great a spot but i would say it is if we’re looking at building like that so Just doing this and kind of having a look around at the real-life buildings and get a good idea of the style like i said as though you are actually there in rome itself it’s also really helpful if you’re looking for a specific building so let’s say you’ve got an idea on the Style that you’re building in possibly japanese just for this instance so maybe you’re making a temple of some kind right you could always google japanese temples and have a good selection of images but with google maps you’re able to drop yourself nearby one let’s possibly go over i don’t know any of These will be fine let’s go over to this one and you can drop yourself nearby you can even go on these little circles here that you can kind of see and they’re just pictures that people have taken so you can’t wander around but you do get a 360 view of it which is something that you can’t get with google images so you can you know zoom in here look at some of the details think about how to build this in minecraft and in my opinion it’s just an extra level added on to looking At them on google images so if you really want to focus in on the details i’d recommend doing something like this the last way i find my minecraft inspiration is maybe a little bit biased but it’s watching people play minecraft here on youtube now i’m not just talking About myself of course there are tons and tons of craters on this wonderful website that makes some seriously cool creations in minecraft take bwo for instance i’m sure a lot of you guys know who he is one of the best builders around in my opinion and he’s just Started his building would be double o season three and i have been eating it up because it is inspiration central i watch one of his videos and i immediately want to go and play minecraft and build something similar to what he has been building so if you don’t already watch some Minecraft let’s plays in my opinion i think the best way to learn is first hand through something like that somebody directly telling you their thought process or their building tips and tricks and not only that but just watching somebody build something amazing in minecraft is bound to rub off On you and make you want to do the same thing if you’re in need of some suggestions then here are some of my personal favorites my go-to’s for minecraft building inspiration plus they’re all lovely people and they make wonderful minecraft videos so there we go everybody that’s gonna do it for Today’s video i know it was a little bit of a different one compared to my usual videos so let me know what you thought about it down in the comments below this has been a video i wanted to make for a while now because i get asked this question Quite a lot so i thought i’d try and encapsulate all of my knowledge for how i find inspiration in this video hopefully it all came together pretty well and you guys enjoyed watching thank you ever so much for doing that and i’ll see you next time bye for now Video Information
