In this video i’m going to show you how to link nether portals in Minecraft. So first of all what you need to know is that one block in the nether in the nether is equal to eight blocks in the overworld so these eight blocks here are equal to one block in the nether. So if I was to walk eight blocks in the over world I would only have to move one block in the nether to move the same amount of distance so if I was to move one block in the nether And I was build another nether portal I would’ve moved eight blocks in the over world. Using this information is how you calcualte the position that the never portal needs to be and link up your portals so first of all you need to enable coordinates, if you’re on the Bedrock edition hit the pause button, go to settings, go to game and scroll down until you see ‘show coordinates’ and make sure this is turned on and if you are on the java edition you simply need to hit the ‘F3’ key to be able to see coordinates. So what you wanna Do is find the coordinates of your portal now my coordinates here are -8, 67 and -34 but you coordinates will be different depending on where your portal is first of all i’m going to show you starting from the overworld and then i’ll talk about the nether and what to Do if you want to start from the nether. So you want to take the coordinates and you want to divide them by eight if you are starting from the overworld so my coordinates devided by eight are -1, 67, -4. So then you want to go through the nether portal and you want To find the coordinates in the nether that you just calculated so your coordinates of the original portal in the over world divided by eight, So you want to find those coordinates now my coordinates i’ve already laid out here so that I don’t take ages trying to find them But for you, you want to go to your coordinates, the coordinates you just calculated in the nether and then you want to build a nether portal so i’m going to quickly build this portal and then I can light it up and if I go through here it will take me back to here Because this is in the right location. The hight doesn’t matter of the portal in the nether so you can build it anywhere in the y axis but the z and the x axis need to to Be the same as you can see here to this portal because it is linked up correctly and it doesn’t matter which height the portal is as long as it’s on the right x and z axis then it Will work. If you are starting from the nether then you want to do the same thing but you’ll just need to times your original coordinates by eight so you want to times your original coordinates of the portal in the nether by eight and then when you go through the nether Portal that is where you need to build your portal in the over world. So it’s the same system it’s just if you start from the nether you need to times your coordinates by eight, if you start from the overworld you need to divide your coordinates by eight. I no longer Want the original portal that the game has spawned in for me in the nether this portal here so i’m just going to get rid of this and your portals will still work fine the good thing about this system is that you can have as many portals as you want near each Other. One thing I would say is if you are going to have portals quite close each other then make sure you have them at the right height just because it’s a lot easier to know the exact height you need and so example if you’re going to have the two portals quite Close to each other have them in the right y axis in the nether and the overworld so the same y axis. Just because that makes it a lot more simple, it makes it a lot easier to know which portal is which for you and it’s just easier in general to have them in The same y axis if you’re going to have a lot of portals quite close to each other. So that’s just a tip that IU would recommend you do if you are going to have portals quite close to each other and they are going to take you to different locations, now this Is a very useful system especially for multiplayer worlds or if you have a lot of different bases or locations around your world that you want to travel to, it’s very easy to discovering new land and simply going round and exploring new places in your world as you can travel A lot faster because of the fact that one block in the nether is equal to eight blocks in the overworld. If you do have any issues or if you need any help do let me know in The comment section dwon below and I will try and help you out or try and resolve any issues this does work and it is very easy to use and hopefully it has been helpful. Thank you very much for watching and goodbye! Video Information
