If you’re a subscriber you may remember this time lapse i posted a few weeks ago of this island fortress well i had a lot of requests to make a tutorial for it so here it is as i usually do with longer tutorials i’m going to split this video into two parts In this video we’ll be building the outside and in the second video we’ll decorate and do the interior for simplicity’s sake i’m not going to do any texturing in this build however if you want to you can just mix in some cracked and mossy stone bricks and you can replace some full blocks With stairs to make it look like missing bricks just be sure to account for this in the materials list okay so to begin find yourself a nice spot to build and then follow the two steps here on this layout and here’s a simplified version of the walls in case you need it So if you follow those instructions you should be starting off with something that looks like this and if your island is too small like mine is and the layout sticks out over the edge just go ahead and connect it to the ground using stone bricks like you see here So let’s start by building our docks we’ll have two docks one here and one here let’s start on this one so for our docks we’re gonna have posts and for the posts i’m gonna use spruce logs in the water and oak logs above the water that way the spruce logs just look Like wet logs so start right here with two oak logs above the water and skip two blocks for those entrances and place a spruce log in the water and then two oak logs above the water now we’re gonna skip three logs and do the same thing skip three more and do The same thing and finally three more and do the same thing so four posts all with two oak logs above the water now in the top of those oak logs just place a spruce trap door in between them in the water we’ll place spruce planks and place one here next we’ll take some Spruce stairs and place three normal stairs on the two on the outside and three upside down stairs in the gap in the middle we’ll make a railing for the middle section using a fence post in the center and then two fence gates then we’ll just fill in all this with spruce blanks In this two block gap we’ll place two spruce stairs then we’ll fill in above this grass with spruce planks this will be one block above the rest of the floors now i’ll have two floating extensions on this dock using trap doors each one will be three blocks wide and Make sure you place the trapdoors in the water so you can place a fence post on top they’ll be three blocks wide and they’ll extend out 11 blocks And i’ll build the other one right here between this three wide section and it’ll be the same dimensions three blocks wide and it’ll extend out 11 blocks now we’ll make a railing for our docks this will be a repeating pattern so i have two fence posts with a fence Gate in between skip one block and then repeat this so it should be three of those on each side and we’ll repeat this on the other Extension that’s it for this dock and now we’ll start working on the other one which will be a little bit different So let’s start with our logs right here place spruce logs in the water and then two oak logs at the surface skip three blocks over this way and we’ll build another again two oak logs above the surface then we’ll go three blocks over this direction and build another Skip three blocks again and build another then we’ll have two more again skipping three blocks in between each one So your logs should look like this then go ahead and place a spruce trap door at the top of each one next we’ll place spruce stairs in between each three block wide section one block above the water now let’s fill this all in with planks all right now we’ll build a railing on Top of the upside down stairs using a fence post in the middle and two fence gates do this in between each section except for the section at the end here we’ll leave this open so you can get onto your imaginary ship alright so we have this one section of Floor that’s still blank this will be a courtyard so we’re going to make it out of a mixture of coarse dirt and spruce planks so build our spruce planks kind of spilling in from the duck and from that main room just kind of scatter them around randomly Then once you’ve got your spruce planks in place we’ll take coarse dirt and fill in the rest the next thing we’re going to do is start building up our walls out of stone bricks we’re going to do it in bulk so first i want to get all of our archways and Doorways in place let’s start with this front entryway here build four blocks of stone bricks up on each side place an upside down stair on each side and then a slab in the center that archway will be built into the wall but this one here will be freestanding So we’ll place three blocks on each side and then a stair on top then an upside down stair on the stair a slab in the center and then three more slabs above behind that and built into the wall we’ll build four stone breaks on each side and then five stone breaks across the Top and that should leave us with a three wide four blocks tall gap going through the front entrance and turning to the right here build up four stone brake blocks on each side and then just an upside down stair on each side here will just be a normal doorway one Block wide and two blocks tall and here we have another archway built into the wall so build up four stone bricks on each side a upside down stair on each side and then a slab in the center going back over here we’ll have a wide archway build four blocks up on each side Then place an upside down stair on each side this time no slabs instead we’ll just go with seven stone brick blocks across the top in this space here we’ll just have a two block wide and two block tall doorway and same with right here two blocks wide and two blocks tall Now our last archery will be right here so build a five stone brick blocks on each side and place two upside down stairs now we’re ready to start building up our walls and you’re going to need a lot of stone brick for this we’ll start with our tower which is Highlighted on the left side build all of those blocks up an additional 22 blocks using stone bricks so next will be our main building which is highlighted in red build those up an additional nine blocks of height using stone bricks now for this little extension at the Bottom left build all of those blocks up by an additional six blocks of height next build these blocks up by an additional five blocks of height which is just one block above that archway we made finally build these remaining blocks highlighted in red up by an additional six blocks of height And now these two little blocks extending out those will just be supports so on each one place two full stone brick blocks and then a stair on top next we’re going to build some spruce plank platforms on top of our stone bricks let’s start with this little extension Here place your spruce planks over everything even on top of the stone brick walls then we’ll do this main building part here all right no spruce planks over that courtyard we will have spruce planks over this little corner section and then once we get to here the rest of This will be a little bit different start building the stone bricks up another level here we’re going to place two upside down stairs then continue two more upside down stairs here i just realized i placed these in two different directions either one works it doesn’t really matter But i’ll just make these the same then we’ll continue building these stone bricks up one more level stop here and then we’ll play spruce planks and we’ll fill in all of this with spruce planks and don’t forget to do your tower as well next we’re going to build some Crenellations on our walls and we’ll use the same pattern for the crenellations across the entire thing let’s start here on our front gate and to build these we’re going to place an upside down stair every other block at the top of that stone brick do this on the other side as well Top of those upside down stairs place a full block and then a normal stair on top of the full block now in between the full blocks we’ll place an upside down stair so we’ll use this pattern for the crenellations across the entire thing where we have the spruce planks over the Top start with your upside down stairs at the top of the stone bricks then your full blocks will be at the same level as the planks and then your stairs on top of the full blocks will be one block above the blanks so continue this around this extension And stop where that spruce plank stops over here we’ll just do three blocks on this side and then nothing where the spruce planks of that lower level are because we’ll have a building there then i’ll pick it up again in these three blocks on the right side Now go across here in this l shape and where we get to this corner here just place a full block instead of a stair there will be no correlations in this part we’ll have a wooden railing instead and we’ll continue the crenellations on this wall where the spruce planks are Go around this side now in this main building we’ll start the crenellations right here three blocks of them on the right side and leave a gap to the left of that so we’ll have a building there again now on this back side we’ll do crenellations across the entire back side And we’ll go around this corner to the tower and finally we’ll do crenellations around the entire top of the tower Next we’re going to start building some buildings on top of our stone brick and wooden platforms we’re going to start with our main l-shaped platform and to begin we’re going to use barrels all the way around the spruce plank platform and one block inwards where it meets the tower just skip that section Next we’ll make some oak log pillars let’s start in this corner right here and then in the next corner place one more in this corner leave a five block gap there and then here we’re going to skip one block and place another skip three blocks and place another and One more in this corner for this side we’ll do the same thing so skip one block and a three block wide section in the center on this back side we’ll place five oak locks with three blocks in between each one here we’ll skip one block and place an oak log Next we’ll build up all of our oak logs by an additional five blocks for a total of six Next we’ll connect all of these pillars at the top using sideways logs now let’s add some detail using spruce stairs and spruce trap doors let’s start right here place a spruce stair in this corner a trap door here and a trap door here just kind of round out that corner here We’ll do the same thing in each corner so spruce during the corner and then a spruce trap door on each side of that stair same thing here now here it gets a little bit different we’ll just place an upside down stair on each side and then in this three wide section in The center we’ll place a stair on each side and then three trap doors this well will be the exact same as the last one now on this back side we’ll do the same thing in each of these three wide sections a stair in each corner and then three Trapdoors in each section here we’ll place a stair and here we’ll place a stair and two trapdoors on top of this section here we’re going to place two spruce planks on each side don’t place the stairs place a full block instead two slabs in the center On the next level we’ll place a full block on each side and then in the center we’ll place two upside down stairs again this is a mistake so keep watching And just two full blocks at the top so replacing these stairs two full blocks like i mentioned and two slabs in the center and these two blocks here will be stairs so we’ll have this shape window on this side we’ll do something similar but different again we’ll place two full Planks on each side here you see me not learning from my mistake and doing the exact same mistake again so it’s two full blocks on each side and three slabs on the next level have a full plank on each side and then an upside down stair Then three full blocks on top and one full block in the center it should look like this two full blocks three slabs two more full blocks next level is full block upside down stairs space upside on stair full block then three full blocks and one more full Block in the center now we’ll repeat that over here except it gets cut off by the tower so two full blocks and two slabs here a full block and then an upside down stair two full blocks and one more full block next we’ll start building up our walls On top of the barrels i’m using mushroom stems for this but of course you can use any similar white blocks so just build it up to one block less than the logs go around this side there’s no windows here now here we’re going to have two windows Each one will be one block wide and two blocks tall with one block of space in between them so here i have the spacing right but they should be one block higher so this is what they should look like and go ahead and place some glass in there I’m using light gray stain panes with my custom texture you can also use normal glass panes which would probably look better on default now continue our walls in this three block wide section of a one by two window place some glass in there and this is What it’ll look like from the other side we’ll continue our walls no windows on this side now for the back side in each of these three block wide sections will have a one block wide two tall window so i’m just going to place the glass in there now so i don’t forget And then we’ll fill in our walls on this side there will be no windows so just go ahead and fill this in all right now in between all of our sideways logs we’re just going to fill this all in with planks Next we’ll start building the roof for this i’m just going to build the frame and then i’ll fill it in off camera so started on our sideways logs using spruce stairs then we get to here where we have this triangle shape we’ll just go up with stairs and upside down stairs Once we get to the top we’ll start going back down it’s a pretty basic roof shape so hopefully you won’t have any trouble with this now once we get to the level of our sideways logs we’ll just go around here in an l shape and here we’ll start going up with Stairs and upside down stairs again the center will place an upside down stair and we’ll have a slab in the center now go across this whole back side and here we’ll go up with our stairs and upside down stairs again until you get to the tower Here we’ll place a slab and we’ll just go across to the other side before i start filling in the roof we’re going to make some fence gate supports so on this back side just place one and open it on each of these logs below the roof On this side we’ll place one here one here and one here and one here and finally one more right here now i’m just gonna fill in this roof off camera hopefully it’ll be pretty easy since you’re just following the frames now we’re gonna build a little room on Top of the roof so start with an oak log and go in line with this one skip three blocks and place your oak log right here replace that stair you need a placeholder block right here so then it’ll place a oak log skip three in here we’ll place barrels Again we’ll just need some placeholder blocks i’m going to use upside down spruce stairs and one here so place an oak log on the other side and three barrels in between just like so now for the wall-ease mushroom stems again four blocks tall and just leave a one by two window Place your glass in there build up your oak logs to that same height now go over three blocks just fill in your mushroom stems and another oak log right here so this will be a five by five room and again on this wall we’ll have an oak Log three barrels in between and then another oak log we’ll build these up the same way as that other wall on the opposite side now this wall here will have a 1×2 window right here so place your glass in there and then we’ll place three mushroom stems on top and one more This wall here will be the same as the one opposite except instead of glass place a door now place some open spruce fence gate supports one block below the top of the logs and the front and the back side then i’ll build our roof which is pretty Simple just going up with stairs and upside down stairs and here we’ll place an upside down stair and then a line of slabs going across the top Next we’re going to make a little walkway from this room to the tower so as i mentioned before this glass should actually be a door this was a mistake so once we have that door in place we’re going to place slabs on top of these slabs of the roof To make them into full blocks break this correlation right here and replace this full block with a stair and another stair right here i’m just gonna make it facing this direction so it’s easier to get up now we’ll take some oak logs go over three blocks from the wall Place an oak log here place a little block right there just an upside down stair and three o’clocks now skip three blocks and do the same thing in between them at the level of those full planks place three upside down stairs place trap doors on top of your oak logs Then i’ll place one more oak log on this side this stairs get a little bit awkward so i’m just gonna replace one of them with a full block here we’ll place our three oak logs on top of that placeholder block trap door on top two upside down stairs here and three here Next we’ll make a railing at our fence gates and fences let me just grab a fence here so place a fence in the middle of that three block wide section and then two fence gates here we’ll just place one fence gate then on this side again in these three Wide sections of fence posts in the middle and two fence gates on either side next let’s build up this section right here since this is a smaller space we won’t have that extra layer of depth so just place an oak log in each corner and three barrels in between on each Wall on the outside so leave this inside wall blank next we’ll build up our logs an additional four blocks for a total of five now build up our mushroom stems and leave a one wide two tall window and we’ll do the same thing for all three outside walls on one side of each Window place two spruce trap doors as a shutter it doesn’t really matter which side of the window you put it on right here one block below the top place an open spruce fence gate and place one on each of these two logs one block below the top On this wall place three sideways of glocks and then a spruce plank at the top i’m going to connect this wall using two more mushroom blocks then we’ll make our roof out of spruce stairs and slabs just like we did with the rest of the roofs right here just stop this walk And when you get up here you’ll notice that you’ll have to break the trapdoors so just go ahead and do that so you can place your stairs and slabs okay okay now we just have one final section of building which will be pretty similar to that big l-shaped building And we’ll build it right here the main difference will be there will be no barrels at the bottom of the inside wall so it’ll be one block shorter let’s start with an oak log right here skip one and place another then skip three and place another Skip one more and place one more oak log in the corner now skip three blocks and place no glock there now let’s place our mushroom stems one block inwards from those oak logs and skip a block there for a door now let’s build each oak log Up by an additional four blocks for a total of five and now connect them all at the top using sideways logs here place a stair in each corner and then three trap doors a stair here and here and in this three wide section there’s stair in each corner and three trap doors This side will just place one stair and then two trapdoors here we’ll do the same pattern as we did up above so two full blocks on each side and then three slabs in the center one more full block on each side on the next level and then an upside down stair Three full blocks across the top and then one more full block at the top let’s build up our inside walls now here we’ll just leave a one block wide two block tall gap for our door and in this three wide section we’ll leave a 1×2 window place some glass in there and continue Building up the walls to one block less than the logs oops missed a sideways log now let’s start building our roof out of spruce stairs and slabs we’ll go seven blocks across here then we’ll just start going up with upside down stairs and normal stairs fill in this gap with spruce planks this Part gets a little bit awkward we’ll just place one more upside down stair and one more full stair and we’ll leave it at that and we’ll just finish up the rest of the roof go ahead and break any trap doors that get in the way now in this doorway place a spruce door And place a spruce sign above it also place some open fence gates here and on the other side to support the roof around these stone bricks we’ll make a railing out of fence posts and fence gates use an alternating pattern when you can and in even block wide sections use two fence gates Or two fence posts and in these weird corners just use all fence posts now on the right side of this platform i’m going to make sort of a bonfire lighthouse thing so i start with an oak log in each corner two blocks in between so it’s a four by four In between your logs place spruce stairs and then here you can either place spruce planks or four hay bales if you have them and campfires on top build up your logs by an additional four blocks and connect them with sideways logs at the top use two upside down stairs in each Section at the top to round that out then we’ll make a roof just going all the way around on the sideways logs with spruce stairs this level use more spruce stairs and then we’ll stop here with the stairs and use two trapdoors on each side above the stairs and flip those So if you want your smoke to reach higher then replace those spruce planks under the campfires with hay bales for whatever reason the hay bales make the smoke from the campfires reach higher next we’re going to make some grass or flower boxes so start under here in these five blocks place five grass Blocks and five grass or flowers on top in between the granulations just place trap doors to hide that dirt do the same thing here but with three blocks and finally we’ll repeat this on the back side in each of these four sections place three grass blocks with grass or flowers on top And trap doors to hide the dirt Next let’s add three windows above this archway i’m gonna break out three blocks and place a slab at the bottom and top to make it two blocks i’ll place three windows with one block of space in between each one let’s fill in this door now so in this Gap we’ll place a door in the center and then fill in the rest with trap doors here we’ll place a double door and going through here we’ll place one door here here we’ll place another door in the center and then fill in the rest of the trapdoors Four blocks high and three blocks wide and that’ll be it for part one part two will be out in a week if it’s not out already if it is out it’ll be here on the screen anyway here’s a sneak preview of part two we’ll add some decorations on the outside including the dock This storage room here and the courtyard we’re also going to decorate the inside i haven’t come up with a design for the interior yet because i’ve been lacking inspiration but i’ll work on it thanks for watching i hope you
