Hey guys and welcome back to another lost bits video right here on tetra bay gaming the series where we explore the unused scrapped and unseen content in video games well here’s a game I never thought I’d be covering but here we are minecraft lost bits you don’t need me to Tell you that minecraft has been one of the biggest games of the last decade if not ever this has been absolutely one of the most requested videos on my channel I’m not much of a Minecraft fan myself but I’m really gonna try my best to do This video justice and I hope that you enjoy it also since there are several different builds of Minecraft for different platforms from the PC version all the way to the 3ds I’ve decided to make separate videos for the different builds in this video we’ll start with the original Java version and if you Enjoy this and want to see me cover the other versions to let me know anyways without further delay go grab a pickaxe it’s time to mine some lost bits first of all it was recommended to me that I clear this up but there is no evidence of the fabled herobrine character Anywhere in the game sorry if that disappoints anyway first up I thought it would be cool to talk about some of the bigger differences in the pre-release version of the game before it was even known as Minecraft that’s right originally the game went with the name simply being cave game this was later Changed to Minecraft order of the stone before finally dropping the subtitle and becoming just minecraft anyway the original cave game tech test build has to this day never been publicly released and all we know about it comes from this gameplay video that was uploaded by notch like 10 years ago highlights here Include seeing the original grass blocks which had the same texture all around an early version of the cobblestone blocks the world here is only around 4.2 million blocks large and volume which may seem like a lot but I think the Minecraft world of today spans something like 900 million blocks in volume or Something and lastly although they could be destroyed here blocks could not yet be placed down by the player I also love the original video description here by the game’s creator not little did he know this game he didn’t even know if he was going to get around To finishing would turn out to be one of the best-selling games of all time alright we’re moving on now onto stuff that was once in the game at some point but has since been completely removed and first up are several blocks and items that have been taken out from the game We got the horse saddle studded armor which had otherwise unused graphics from another unreleased game by knotch called legend of the chambered infinite source blocks for both water and lava a generically colored block of dead coral that was once used for all coral variants six-sided haybales six-sided piston and sticky piston blocks roses Which were all replaced by poppies a separate powered state for the comparator and lastly air yes air was apparently added as an obtainable item briefly apparently this obtainable air was the cause of several bugs so it was quickly removed in a subsequent updates next up Is an item that was removed that I think deserves a bit more of an explanation there was once a locked chest that was used as part of an April Fool’s joke back in 2011 when interacted with a prompt to access the store would pop up which would link to a store page where The player could buy certain fake items or keys to get them in a loot box style such as a name change an actual response from supports and enlargement spills obviously all of these are way too expensive and are approaching mariokart or levels of overpriced but if for some Reason you wanted to buy $155 simple disguise after selecting it and clicking checkout you would get a nice jump scare visit from a dinosaur additionally if you loaded up your cart with over $10,000 worth of stuff another prompt would pop up warning you about something incoming that see Inducing so yeah same warning for you guys here if you’re prone to seizures look away so after clicking okay the entire web page basically flashed all sorts of different colors this whole thing was apparently supposed to be a spoof of the Team Fortress 2 man company store as well as I guess Microtransactions in general anyways I think this was an awesome April Fool’s joke but it was removed in the one-point-four underscore zero one update from normal gameplay but actually remained in the games code for a while until the 1.7.2 update of the game also this was its namespace ID pretty wild There have also been a few crafting recipes that have been removed including chain armor which could be made using fire which also no longer exists as an inventory item using gold blocks and an apple to craft an enchanted golden apple and certain recipes to craft iron gold And diamond horse armor next are several structures that used to be auto-generated there was a solid brick pyramid two basic houses one built of mossy cobblestone and the other of planks and stone walls made of obsidian old villages which were basically all of the villages before the village and pillage updates Glass pillars these large monoliths and finally these far land structures that would form on the edge of the map or millions of blocks away from the spawn point and these last structures can apparently still be found in the bedrock edition of the game several overall map settings have also been removed from This build of the game including taking an isometric screenshot of the map adjusting the map shape as well as map themes and types which could be chosen as the style the level generator would use to create the maps for themes there was a normal theme hell paradise and Woods and then for the map types there was a floating option as well as winter mode there were also a few mob variants that used to be in the game but have since been removed as they were only used for testing and earlier development builds of the game These scrapped mobs were of Steve black Steve Rana which apparently means frog in Spanish and Beast Boy from Teen Titans there was also a passive human mob they all appeared as clones of the default character skin and would run around aimlessly that’s a lot of Steve an almost identical mob variant called Monster also existed they’ve to took on the default skin but would instead attack the player and now on to several sounds that have been either removed from or updated in the game there’s quite a lot here so I’ll just fly through them quickly then there’s also this other weird unused track that was Apparently made by knotch himself it’s not the greatest so I can only assume it was made for testing purposes Next up things that were once in the game never had any use and have since been removed there’s quite a few but for the sake of time I won’t go too in depth with these we got these gears which were the precursors to red stop the crying Obsidian blocks a texture for what looks to be a chair and table this green shrub thing of paeonia I hope I said that right chain and plate armor and here’s what the characters would have looked like wearing this plate armor several potions including an uninteresting potion a bland potion and a buttered Potion a texture for a quiver again from notches unreleased legend of the chambered Pigman and PCs a play tutorial level button which was unusable since there was no tutorial at this time textures for skis slightly different brick blocks mirrored doors fluff early lava this placeholder graphic referred to as water terrain footstep particles That were never implemented and finally there’s this weird Steve villager hybrid texture yeah here’s what it probably was intended to look like moving on we got things that were either discussed by the Mojang developers and never implemented believed to have been since abandoned as well as several things still left in the Game as of the current build as I’m making this video which still go unused so like I said there are several things that were either mentioned or tested by the developers that never got fully implemented this includes colored wooden planks which were reworked into stained clay a sky dimension that was supposed To be the heaven to nethers hell which was also reworked into the end dimension and dirt slabs which were half the height of a normal block and were planned to replace dirt blocks these were apparently considered to be implemented in order to make the world appear smoother but due to errors in Properly spawning these labs they were promptly removed and there’s also this early inventory and stats screen mock-up which had a whopping 12 armor slots instead of the four we normally see so I guess it looks like more Armour options were considered at some point earlier in the games developments as well as what Looks like some RPG elements other mentioned features that never saw the light of day include Red Dragons in-game seasons and bunnies exploding into streams of blood when killed okay now on to the things that are left over in the game but completely unused first up we Got the Giants which are an unused mob variant that appear as a zombie that’s well Giants they can still be placed in with a summon command but since they don’t have movement AI program they just stand there in place and speaking of zombies there’s also this unused zombie Horse variant that was added to the game along with the normal and skeleton horses these can also still be spawned in either with a zombie horse spawn egg or again with a summon command then we have a killer bunny variant with white fur and horizontal red eyes rather than The vertical ones the normal bunnies have the killer rabbit is also much faster than normal and will be hostile to any player or wolf it may see maybe this is the bunny that knotch said he wanted to have explode and lastly for unused mobs there’s this guy known as The illusion er looking like a Vindicator this unused illah jury will also attack players and other NPCs within 12 blocks distance with the bow as well as it spells these spells include one to bind an opponent’s as well as one in which the illusion er will vanish and spawn in several duplicates Then we got some uncraft emotions that have no real effect other than serving as a placeholder and some unused status effects including bad luck which reduces the player’s chances of getting high-quality lutes as well as a health boost effect that was available for a short time and would boost the players Hearts temporarily after eating a Golden Apple this effect was altered in a future update and although the health boost effect did get texture updates down the road the effect still hasn’t been reintroduced there’s also unused Mountain edge and deep warm ocean biomes and angry villager head sprites purple arrows this Ruby texture unused villager speech bubbles these block textures labelled debug and debug – which are probably used by the developers when making new block types a hood for the witches of indicators and Devo kurz and an old zombie version that looks like a villager now although all of these Aren’t used they’re still left in the game so maybe the developers are waiting to add them in the future or look at ways to rework them into something different next up there are a few textures that have some normally unseen secrets found in them first is a hidden overlay for Alex found in her texture these parts are normally hidden because the opacity for these pixels is by default set to zero anyways it gives Alex glasses as well as unfinished arms that appear to be based on Steve’s textures next are the textures for the insides of the Guardians that have a secret of their own now the insides of the guardians aren’t normally visible in-game without actually getting inside of their model but these inside textures have hidden text that reads Jeb and Jeb is actually the username of yen’s Berg instead one of the game’s lead developers similarly Thanks as a phobia text can be found in the texture for the zombie pigman this is apparently just thanking the original creator of this skin both of these normally unseen secrets are obviously put in here on purpose and they remind me of that hidden mr. Saturn graphic we Saw in the metroid texture back in my Super Smash Bros Brawl video I always love seeing these little developer Easter eggs now those hidden easter eggs are cool and all but there are actually hidden easter eggs found inside some of the audio files too just like we were Able to see the devil in that one track back in cup head here ambient sound 14 and music disc 11 both have a hidden image when viewing the tracks through a spectrogram which lets you visualize the sound frequencies music disc 11 hides an image of Steve as well as the numbers 1 To 41 while ambient sound 14 has an eerie image of a creeper it’s even more creepy if you look at it while also listening to the sound playing The next thing isn’t unused or anything but apparently in extremely rare cases when starting up the game the title screen will have Minecraft miss spelt as mince rafts nice next we got some more unused audio files that are still left in the game and just like the other Audio files I’ll quickly just go through them here And for the last stop of this video minecraft has a few cool debugging features first is this debugging screen that can be brought up by simply pressing the f3 key when brought up you get bombarded with a ton of information from stuff like showing the current render distance number of particles on Screen and the current FPS count to the player’s XYZ coordinates currently occupied by ohm as well as what the player is looking at in addition to all of this information a few more debug features can be accessed by pressing f3 in combination with another key these features include reloading all chunks Toggling visibility of hit boxes increasing render distance reloading textures and more some of the functions and the debug data screen itself has changed over the years and all the updates but it’s nice to see that it’s still accessible if you’re interested in learning more about its OMG craft made An awesome video diving into a deeper and explaining things in more detail I’ll leave it links down in the description below the last thing I want to mention is a pretty cool debug room that’s also very easily accessible all you gotta do is hold the shift key and Select a world type eventually it will toggle to a secret debug mode option what is this debug mode though well basically you load into a giant room with virtually every block type found in that build so loading in here in different updated versions of the game will have different blocks you can also Still use the nether and the end portals here so be ready for a fight if you get too close to these all of the blocks are indestructible so you can’t really do anything with most of them but I think it’s still cool to see all of them arranged together like this This room was and I guess is very likely used by the devs to test bloc models textures and behavior but regardless I think it’s awesome that it’s still left in the game not to mention easily accessible so anyone can jump in and see a small glimpse of the game from a developer’s Perspective anyways guys that will be it for this minecraft Java edition lost bits video and I hope you enjoyed again if you did and want to see me cover the other Minecraft versions in the future let me know with the like down below also if you enjoyed this video be sure To check out my other lost bits videos by clicking on the card right here swing by my other social media things which are all links below and if you want to support the channel check out my merch over at tetra bit gaming com or consider becoming the latest member Of the bits Club click on the join button below for more information anyways guys thank you all for tuning in and I will see you in a bit Video Information
