[MUSIC] >> The Gulf Rooted Together was really to try and raise awareness for mangrove conservation. But not only that really educate people on what The trees can do in the fight against climate change. >> It was about exploring the map together, understand what replanting the mangroves did to the whole environment. >> My favorite part of the custom map had to be just the sound effects when you collected that propagules it made like a [pop] sound, So I’m a simple man. >> [FOREIGN] >> Bringing things from our natural world into the game and having the players be excited about them, I think it’s just so cool. >> Minecraft in the global community came together to donate over $227,000, all for the nature conservancy and their mangrove restoration efforts. Players didn’t just donate to impact their own backyards, but to impact communities around the world, like those in Mtanga Wanda Kenya. >> [FOREIGN] >> Effort by Mtanga Wanda Women Association on restoration and rehabilitation of degraded mangrove areas, has been a great success. The women in Mtanga Wanda have managed to combine science and Local knowledge to effectively plant and rehabilitate degraded mangrove areas. Minecraft is giving these communities an opportunity to share their experiences. It’s giving them an opportunity to celebrate their success. >> Mangroves not only have the power to protect communities, they can also connect them. >> Zulfa, what are the best places To plant propagules and why? >> [FOREIGN] >> What do you find most rewarding about mangrove restoration? >> [FOREIGN] >> The future of these super forests is in the hands of the local communities.
