Episode 1 the setup in this episode we’ll be gathering the resources we’ll need to begin building our mod let’s get started first we’ll open the Internet browser of our choice and navigate to eclipse.org then downloads then download 64-bit download the executable run it and install it then navigate to files Minecraft forge net we’ll be using the recommended version for 1.14 in my case it is 1.14 – 28-point 1.0 click the MDK version wait for the ad and click skip then we’ll navigate to the Java SE Oracle download page you can get this by googling Java SE and clicking on the Oracle comm link and we’ll be using that Java 11 LTS version and we’ll be downloading the JDK or Java development kit click accept license agreement and download your operating systems executable in my case I’ll be using Windows so I’ll download the exe file you will need an Oracle account to Proceed don’t worry they’re free then download and install that and once you’re done come back and we will get ready to install the MBK navigate to the folder where you have downloaded the MDK file open it up in navigate to where you want to store the environment for your MBK in this case I’m just placing it into a minecraft forge folder and you’ll extract the files to that folder now we’ll open up eclipse and here I’m just cleaning up the layout to suit my needs and this part is optional but I’m just going to set the Default color layout to something that suits me a little more And again I’m just gonna change the theme to dark mode and now we’re gonna want to make sure that we have the Gradle plug-in installed in Eclipse so we’re going to open up the Eclipse marketplace which you can get by going to help and then eclipse marketplace and We’ll just search for Gradle and make sure you get this version of Gradle which is the Gradle integration 3.0 and then we’ll click import by either in the package package Explorer or going to file and import then Gradle and existing Gradle project then we’ll navigate to Where we exported the MDK file I still had it open right here so I just copied the URL and just to double-check it’s the right place I just click browse then click finish this may take a moment it is building the Gradle file as well as importing it Your time may vary now I’m just going to open up the console by going to window show view and console now we’ll go up to the package Explorer expand and we’ll be deleting the temporary mods folio and we’ll be creating our own class and by default you should be putting it into Your domain dot your website name or company name dot project name for example Google Docs would become Google Docs here I’m just going to put tutorial mod because this won’t be released officially and we’ll call the class and main click finish and then open up the main class Now we’re going to create another class called references this is where we’ll store all of our references to strings and such then we’ll create a public static final string that will be our mod ID and we’ll put that in all caps as this convention and we’ll just call this Tutorial mod it has to be all lowercase in the string and we’ll do at mod and then references dot mod ID then we’ll have to import mod from my craft board by either hovering over and clicking import we’re doing ctrl shift Oh Now we’ll want to create our constructor which we will add our registry from mod so we’ll type in FML Java mod loading contacts get get mod event bus add listener and then we’ll add a method that we haven’t yet created but it’s going to be called common setup and then We’ll add the server setup by doing minecraft forge event bus got add listener and then main : : server set and we’ll create the common setup method and this will have an argument that is an FML common set up event you then you’ll have to import now make sure that This is a static void so it can be read by the event listener and we’ll do the same thing for the server starting event and it will have a FML server starting event which will also have to be important Now we’ll create a internal clasp for registering our future items and blocks and we annotate this by putting mod event bus subscriber and set the bus equal to mod event bus subscriber to bus mod and we’ll call this class registry events and make sure it’s static and for Now we’ll leave this empty now we’ll go into the build Gradle file and change a few of the settings the group is your package so in this case ours is tutorial mod you put what you put and then the mod ID which is what we put in our references We’ll set the version to zero point zero point one because this is our first iteration will call the archive name the same as our mod ID – the version of Minecraft and this is what it will look like when it is Next I set the client working directory to run forward slash client and the server working directing you to run a forward slash server now you’ll open up the mods tamil which is located in the meta in folder inside of the resources folder and this opened in a separate Editor for me and you’ll change the mod ID to your mod ID and the display name to display name of your choice will also comment out the lines that are not needed and add credits and the author’s name and the multi-line description and change the dependency to have your mod ID And now we’ll run the Mart by going to FG runs and run client this will both build and run your mod and here I’ll just fast-forward through this a bit it does take quite a while and now that the game is loaded you can open up The mods folder and see that our mod is successfully loaded if yours is not rewatch the video and see what went wrong you you Video Information
