The blocky world of Minecraft a game everyone’s really familiar with everyone loves and everyone knows open everyone’s everyone knows if that makes sense but minecraft in virtual reality is a different story minecraft in virtual reality you have the freedom to move in any direction you can literally lie down In the game you can stand up and wave your arms around like crazy Wow so many dimensions if we wiggle my arms around here does the translate inside the game can you see me you can do anything and you can tilt your head in different ways the big question is what Do other minecraft players see when they see a Minecraft virtual reality player do they see them move like they can move in virtual reality with their arms waving around lying down or jumping around in the real world the translates into the game of Minecraft or do they just see someone standing there straight Like in the ones position and doesn’t move this has been a highly requested video on the channel for my other minecraft videos like when I showed off how to play Minecraft on your oculus quest if you’re interested in checking that out you can click on the card above Right now many people were commenting on that video as well as my other minecraft VR videos asking what it’s like for other players to see you so today I’m gonna do a test and see what it’s like when you’re playing on xbox pc and mobile devices when you’re looking at a Player in virtual reality so all these versions of Minecraft are the bedrock version and that is the only official minecraft virtual reality version 2 so that’s what we’re using in today’s video the whole idea of bedrock means that you can actually play with other people on different platforms so You can cross play with people on PlayStation 4 Xbox one Nintendo switch PC virtual reality mobile iPad pretty much everything even the PC version has Windows 10 which is the bedrock version of Minecraft so with this version you can literally cross play and play with other people on Different consoles and devices so you can visit their worlds and you can see everything and play with them and do everything you do normal minecraft anyway we’re gonna start up a world of Minecraft Xbox and then join that world from an account which is used on the virtual reality headset welcome back to Minecraft in the wonderful world of virtual reality running on the oculus quest with the oculus link so to other friends playing Minecraft on different consoles and devices in the bedrock version all you do is click play go across the friends and then you can see where there’s an open game of one of Your friends playing I’m gonna join this game this is just my account on the Xbox one and I’m playing on my account here on the virtual reality headset the oculus quest so here we are inside minecraft in virtual reality well not exactly right now we’re playing inside this cool minecraft room and we’re Watching on a big television in front of us that is playing Minecraft we can use our oculus controllers to do absolutely everything normal version of Minecraft would do it works just like you’re playing it looking at a television exactly what it is right here this room Is really cool but obviously we want to play it in proper virtual reality so all you have to do is click Y on your oculus controller and you get transported into the game just like this whoa look at that that is so cool the transition that It does so here we are inside the world of Minecraft on the oculus quest so what we’re gonna do today is check out all the different types of movements and what translates to other gamers on different devices playing Minecraft and seeing a virtual reality player do wear Stuff so my sister Amy has volunteered to help out for this video so what we’re going to do is we are going to test all different types of movements that I can do in the real world and see if it translates into game so first of all what we’re gonna do by Starting at this test is we are going to see if my hand movements translate into the game so if I wiggle my my really hairy arm look at the 3d hairs on that Wow so many dimensions if we wiggle my arms around here does the translate inside The game can you see me waving my arms around like crazy here no okay so that’s what you see when you’re seeing someone in virtual reality move their arms around like a crazy person next thing that we’re gonna try is if I can swim if I can swim and actually use my arms like I’m really swimming so I’m gonna jump right in three two one well so here we are inside the water whoa look at all these fish some fish are you absolutely gigantic like this oh my called below boy it’s huge it’s literally the size of Me so while we’re in the water here I’m gonna swim with my arms and see if it does anything unfortunately not that’s me pushing forwards on the thumbstick that makes it move like that we can click on the Sprint button and we can go faster it’s there we’re like this This is what it’s like when you see someone swimming in virtual reality underwater in Minecraft I can Crouch with budem press right here but can I crouch by crouching in the real world so let’s just see if this works so I’m gonna stand here Amy’s gonna look at me and I’m gonna crouch in the real world and see if it translates Into the game just a lot of blinking that’s good they have the blinking turn on your head so you couldn’t see any Crouch okay on to the next test if I move my head in a weird way does it move in game so when I move my head it Actually does translate into the game which is really cool but really weird how other things aren’t there but the head movements is there on to the next thing is getting through a tight space so what we’re gonna do here is we’re gonna just dig out a hole here to go Through so we’re gonna do it like this now can I get under a one block space if I need to get into that next area there can I break blocks underneath by crouching and can I actually crouch underneath this to get through to the Other side so let’s give it a try so I can crouch under and I can actually break the blocks in there which is pretty cool by looking under so can I walk under no I can’t I’m pushing forward right now and you can’t go through so you have to break this block To actually get in but you can break the blocks from underneath which is pretty cool next up is turning around this is the one that I’m gonna get a cable wrapped around me but when it comes if it comes hopefully it comes officially to the oculus quest There will be no cable involved in this and you’ll be able to play without a cable officially on the oculus quest let’s hope so the game is under review so if you want to see the video on the latest news and updates of Minecraft coming officially to the oculus quest You can click on the card above right now to go see that video so we’re gonna turn around and see if it translates into the game did that do anything it did so that’s what happens when you turn around inside of Minecraft in virtual reality for 2d players it’s weird how Certain stuff work but not everything works next up we’re gonna try sitting down in virtual reality does that change anything for all the Pancake players so let’s just sit down on the ground right here okay I’m sitting down right now my soft sound here but it looks like I’m Still standing for the other console versions of Minecraft so I’m not actually sitting down which is a shame as well so that is probably the exact same with lying down let’s test that out now oh my gosh I’m literally against the wall laying down and I’m not lying down Either oh it’s not that soft sound it’s a rock-hard wooden floor in the real world it is all right-handed by the way so you can’t change that which is unfortunate I am left-handed so would be cool if I could switch these around have them in the opposite hand I guess I Could just literally hold the controller in the wrong hand and it would work fine but it’s not officially in the game so you can’t actually go left-handed which is a little bit of knowing it’s pity it’s not there anyway if we go up to an animal let’s hunt down an animal there’s A cow over there that cow is going to be using this experiment in the name of science so if I hit this cow physically with this sword instead of just clicking the trigger button does that hit the cow does it actually affect the cab let’s try out the chemist huge in Virtual reality by the way okay stay still stay still we need you for science here we go well okay wow you are strong cow so nothing happens if I smack the cow with a sword nothing happens at all that is sad Shh but if I hit the trigger Then it hits it so that’s how you do it also let’s see if it works with players so if I stab in the sword here Shh didn’t in fact affect her in any way you have a sword sticking out of your stomach right there I have to click the Trigger to actually hit you but we have friendly friendly fire on and we’re in creative so I can’t actually hurt you but that’s how you hit people if you want to know how you hit and how you came in Minecraft so unfortunately you can’t see the real-life movements of the Virtual reality you player translated into the world of Minecraft when you’re playing on the Xbox but is this any different for playing on the iPad well unfortunately not I tried that too and it’s not any different how about PC no it’s the exact same there too so it’s not looking very good Nintendo switch is the same PlayStation is the same and mobile thumbs is also the same after years of testing and experiments of trying to prove that you can see a player’s virtual reality movements from the real world in the world of Minecraft by other players seeing them while the quick answer’s no It would have been really cool if they included this in some way that you could have seen a person’s movements because you could have been so expressive and being able to throw your hands up or even wave when you see another character coming towards you would have been so Cool I know this probably would take away from the blockiness of Minecraft and how they only move in pretty much one direction but maybe if they included it in just the virtual reality version of it so only virtual reality players see other virtual reality players looking like this maybe that could have Worked I don’t know it would have been cool to see you never know maybe this will change if minecraft comes officially to the oculus quest which is actually under review right now so if you’re interested in catching up on all the latest development of Minecraft making its way to the oculus quest You can click on the card above right now to go see that video maybe minecraft and virtual reality for the oculus quest will get its own unique version as what I’ve been hearing a lot of people in the comments suggests which I didn’t actually think of I would have Just assumed would it be getting the minecraft bedrock version put on to the oculus quest as that was the one that was on Samsung gear VR headsets and pretty much the go-to minecraft that they’re pushing right now but you never know they may release minecraft oculus quest edition like what they did with Some of the older consoles like the Nintendo DS or even the PlayStation 4 edition of Minecraft Playstation only joined the bedrock version of Minecraft in the last few months and before that it was just minecraft PlayStation 4 Edition which is its own unique thing even though it’s exactly the same as Bedrock so maybe they’ll do something like this for the oculus quest minecraft oculus quest Edition something like that but I don’t know I really think it’s going to just be if it’s gonna be anything it’s just gonna be minecraft bedrock Edition which would be on the Oculus quest let me know what you think in the comments section down below have you tested this experiment that on Java edition of minecraft maybe it works maybe it works I don’t know I haven’t got to try it so I only tested in the bedrock version so if you can actually Play minecraft in the Java dition which I know you can do let me know if your movements actually translate in the game and if you test it out for yourself let me know on Twitter if you find anything cool about Minecraft coming to the oculus quest it’s David Dillon and Today I’m checking out Minecraft VR running on Oculus Quest with the Oculus Link with the charging cable that came with the headset. To see what other Bedrock players see when they are playing with a VR gamer! Minecraft Oculus Quest Edition is now under review officially, and hopefully coming soon, perhaps after the PSVR Minecraft VR port that has been rumored? I’m going to be sharing exclusive Minecraft VR gameplay, while performing these experiments, including jumping in VR, waving in VR, swimming in VR and lots more, to see if real life movements translate in to the game.
