So in this video series we’re gonna go through how to make a calculator with redstone in Minecraft this calculus if eclis does addition absent and subtraction it was made to be a little bit more verbose and what I mean by that is we could have made it more compact But since for the purpose of this video series is to maximize for understanding the concepts that are dealt with when making a calculator having a little bit of more space makes more sense so what’s happening here is we are providing an input in binary over here the top switches represents the different values You can have in the bottom switches represent the other values you can have of the other binary number that you’re eating they’re adding or subtracting to the first one and that addition or subtraction is done through this switch so for instance this has 72 if I were to Take away 2 from here it’s gonna go and become a 69 after all of the logic has been processed after it goes through the double dabble algorithm and we can also do this here and they’ll go from subtraction to addition so whatever number was being subtracted from the First number it’s going to shift around a little bit and gets to the addition portion perfect so 125 let’s confirm this is if this is right or wrong this is a value of 1 2 4 8 16 32 64 64 plus 32 is 96 96 Plus 1 so this is 97 and the bottom one is 1 2 4 8 and 16 28 28 plus 9 7 125 now as an overview of what’s happening we’re having the binary input connect to the logic gates that make up our binary adder and subtractor again if this Sounds a little bit complicated don’t worry the next videos will go through what everything means step by step here you have full adders that are connected and you have another set of audio gates that make up the algorithm that you use in a lot of calculators that’s called two’s complement it basically uses Addition to perform a subtraction by taking advantage of how overflow works with binary numbers after you get them the resulting value and this over here if you here’s the answer 125 just in binary well it’s not really interesting that even in binary so we would like to Make it into a decimal value one popular way of doing that is using the double dabble algorithm which converts binary to something called BCD which is an intermediary from binary to decimal here you have the outputted BCD value and then all you have to do is translate Each individual BCD value to a decimal value that then is displayed with these Pistons jolting out the blocks depending on what the output is this is a basic overview I know that maybe some of these things sounded complicated but they’re really not and I’ll try to do my best to Explain what each individual part of the calculator does in in the upcoming videos please subscribe to get notified on when the videos are up I’ll try to do my best to do in a timely fashion and it also motivates me to keep maybe making content that might be interesting you know this is Something that I like to do and if I know that other people like seeing it as well that also makes me want to do more of it so I appreciate your time guys and have a fantastic day you Video Information

Minecraft Redstone Calculator Description:
This is the first of a series of videos that describes how to create a calculator in Minecraft with redstone. Since the focus of the video is learning how they are made in real life, the design in Minecraft was made to resemble real life, and not optimize with Minecraft features that could be used for optimizing.
There will be more videos coming up that deal with the different peaces of the calculator, explaining how:
1) Binary addition works 2) How to convert Binary to Decimal
