Welcome back to the basement the friendliest place on youtube we are continuing our are you new to minecraft series today welcome back to the series welcome to part two um i’ve done a tiny bit off camera uh we had i think these two potato farms at the end episode one

I added a wheat farm same thing just a nine by nine with water in the middle and a fence post and a torch and i’ve been farming right because i want to have lots of wheat to feed the cows which i’ve been doing and i want to have lots of potatoes for

Our experience farm and i wanted lots of wood for building so i’ve been cutting down dark oak trees and spruce trees also lastly i found some of this stuff this is sugar cane and i planted it near the shore and then as it grows tall

You can hit it and chop off the second and third block and plant more around so this stuff growls pretty slowly and we want to take advantage of the time that we’re spending so we’ve got it going now a way to boost the growth actually is to put your leftover

Wheat seeds into a composter and then you can get a bone meal you can also do this with your leftover tree saplings the reason i’m using tree saplings is because i have a full stack of the spruce saplings there and you can see all the wood i’ve been harvesting

Um we’re still short on the dark oak though and there’s our potato situation so oh lots to do uh first thing we’re gonna do is we’re going to take um four of these one two three four and we’re going to make ourselves a smoker now

What you need for a smoker is a furnace and we don’t have all of our uh stuff so um hold on i’m gonna put one of those away and we’re gonna take the bone meal and show you how it works and then we’re gonna plant another tree

And i will try to get out of farming mode bone meal is useful because you can go like that and then you your plants grow faster and it’s especially helpful with the sugar cane because it grows it from one to three that’s full height and uh let’s see this tree is going to

Get in the way isn’t it let’s chop it down uh and these grow so slow that’s what i recommend using your bone meal on not trees not wheat not potatoes but the other stuff um oh yeah i was gonna plant a plant a dark oak tree so that can be

Growing while we’re working okay um so we’re going to make ourselves a smoker and the way we’re going to do that is we’re going to make sure that our inventory is as empty as it can be you know what we’ll use the oak for our smoker

Let’s get rid of some of the junk we got going on in here we don’t need the hoe and the wheat goes in here and where should we put our extra sticks i’ve been getting a lot of sticks from tree farming too because the leaves drop sticks and we’re going

To move out of our uh hole our knight one hole and into our home but not totally not just yet okay first of all we want this furnace okay and we probably could use the cobblestone to make a furnace there’s plenty down here so i’m gonna take it with me

And let’s take the leather tube because we’re gonna want to know how much we have oh and look at all these bones okay i can use that as bone meal and that will get us our sugar cane faster the reason we’re interested in sugar cane is because it

Turns into paper and paper can turn into books with leather and books can turn into bookshelves when you add wood and bookshelves can help you enchant your stuff with more experience so all of that is quite good and useful information but first we’re gonna make our smoker smoker’s right here four wood logs

And a furnace okay what we’re also gonna do is we’re gonna make um a couple hoppers and hoppers are iron and chests and these will put things into and take things out of stuff which is very useful okay now let’s make some chests uh we need a couple

So let’s just make four it’ll be too many for now but that’ll be okay all right so um i guess we have to plan where we’re going to put this thing and i suppose we’ll put it inside so let’s put it in the corner here

That’s going to be a log so let’s put it here i’m assuming this is going to be floor this level here so we’ll put a chest and then we’ll put a hopper going into the chest and i think we can actually do that here okay i ducked so that it would go in

Then we’re gonna put the smoker here then we’re gonna put this hopper here and then finally a chest on top like that okay now we’re going to put as many potatoes into there as we can and then we’ll dump a bunch of fuel in there and that would be very good for business

And honestly a bucket of lava would be the best thing that we could do because that will cook a hundred now you see them disappearing there they’re entering the hopper and one comes in one goes out and then they’re entering this see how that number is going up

So this is going to be the key uh to our experience so let’s just throw 10 coal in there for now and while that’s going we can build which is a great idea although maybe getting do we have a bucket yeah we’ve got one right here maybe going and getting some lava soon

Would be smart oh look the sun is beginning to go down we’ll want to sleep so that we don’t have a zillion bad guys popping up while we’re trying to build the house we can only sleep at night you know what we can do before it becomes night we can

Collect a little bit of the sand that’s around this sand actually will become glass for windows for our home which will be a very good thing uh now we’ve got this water pushing on us and it is becoming night so let’s sleep before too many monsters appear so that we can okay

All right uh how’s everybody doing today i hope you guys are having a nice day a fun day a relaxing time i see a creeper oh hello are you stuck yeah that’s fine go ahead the water absorbs a lot of the energy there okay did we get at least eight sand oh

We got eight exactly perfect all right let’s pop those in to here and i’m trying to think if 6 blocks glass blocks makes 16 then we need 8 times 6 is 48 24 we could do with 24. sand that’ll make us an even number of panes with no blocks left over and

You’ll see what i mean when we do it so i recommend grabbing 24 sand the first time you grab sand and uh we’ll go from there now this is clay and we can put that in an oven and turn it into bricks which is quite cool 9 10 11 12 breathe

13 14 15 16. whoops 17. wrong amount that’s okay i’ll put these in here and that’s perfect okay let’s get to building okay the first thing we’re going to do is just fill in these walls and i’ll come back to you guys when that’s done well you just thought you’d shoot me

While i’m working and get away with it huh well now you’re dead all right guys the walls are up now we’re going to um put some log corners on like you can see these are already here and i will come back to you and show you what that looks like when i’m done

All right guys i’m back and you can see we’ve got the logs on the outside there looking very nice we’re also going to add doors and i did put logs on the inside as well so i think that adds just a little bit of depth to the build which i appreciate

I always stick my doors on the outside like this so that they’re flush with the wall i think it makes a faster entry and it looks nice on the inside because there’s depth there but one thing you can do to correct for the uh lack of depth on the outside is just add

A few more logs so we’re going to do that at this time like so and there you can see now we have depth on both sides so a little bit of lighting on the outside to help this feel not so dark and desolate would be nice and then of course

Lighting on the inside as well so we don’t get any mobs spawning we’ll do a little bit of terraforming too where we add dirt here so it doesn’t just look like we’re on the edge of a precipice although i don’t have enough dirt to do that correctly right now

And uh yeah then we’ll be on our way we still need um a ceiling and a floor but getting the walls up is a very uh sort of accomplished feeling i think in minecraft um do we want to stick torches on now we don’t okay so it’s kind of a squat little

House for now i think maybe we’ll stick windows in these walls and certainly in these walls but yeah we need a roof and we need a ceiling and i’m thinking we’re going to add some logs like this to sort of help naturally divide these rooms and then what we’ll do for the ceilings

Actually is uh top slabs i think that’ll look really nice okay we have a few planks now just trying to stay a little bit organized here let’s see if i divide by six yeah so let’s grab a bunch of these and then we’ll start with um this many and that gives us almost

Two stacks so here’s how we add depth to the ceiling is we place them here instead of here because that’s flush but that’s a little bit raised and raised is just nice now if you hold the build button down and you get going correctly you can just

Kind of keep moving which is nice like that and then it doesn’t take quite so long to build but as you can tell i’m messing up a little bit so i’m just going to go ahead and get this done and rejoin you guys again all right folks so as you can see the

Ceilings are in and these beams sort of hang down a little bit low which is a nice look uh and we have torches on the inside on these pillars as well so we’re in good shape let’s set these slabs in here maybe this is a logical spot and let’s grab

A few of these because i see something that i think makes sense to me and that’s to do this otherwise these beams look a little long and unsupported i think there and plus now we can put in some windows without fretting too much about how wide they’re going to be

Uh i wonder if we want to do like that or if we want to make them wider let’s take a look at how see it looks kind of silly i think so let’s make them wider the thing about building the way that i do is that this log is further from this

Window on the count of it being outside than this is from this window so you can end up with a one gap between the window and the log and a three gap here depending on how exactly you do it so you want to be thoughtful about that ahead of time and

What we can do to sort of break up this big gap is this and i think that that will look nicer uh this isn’t going to be all building this episode but there’s some of it and uh so but what i’m saying is we’re not going to go into

Too much detail or anything we’re just kind of doing the basics okay let’s check on our 24 glass blocks we could turn those into panes six panes makes 16 um i mean six blocks makes 16 panes so 24 blocks makes 64 panes one stack and that’s perfect now you can’t break

You can’t recover a glass pane without silk touch enchantment on your tools so you want to be careful about how you do this and that window’s a little bigger than that window but i’m kind of okay with that i think it looks cool okay what would windows look like here oh no

Not going there maybe we’re not putting windows in this wall an interior curve presents some interesting challenges that is for sure i need a new axe soon ah we could do that but you know what i think would be better suited for this area is maybe like a little garden or something

Uh okay so we got our windows in maybe we should stick a window in this wall the thing is is once we start putting a bunch of chests in here the windows are just going to be looking in at a bunch of chests so we may

Have to add like a storage basement or something which would be fine and then maybe even this could move down oh did we now we’ve already cooked some so we need lava now i think the time has come uh let’s stick our extra glass and some stuff

In here i don’t suppose we need the iron we do need the bucket i guess the o can go in here what should we do the floor in should we do the floor in oak probably okay this goes in here and let’s use up a bunch of actually let’s not use up

A bunch of bone meal right now this can go in here as well um let’s go get some lava why did i put that away so we can keep those potatoes cooking and i’m pretty sure we found a bunch down here but i’m quite sure that we left one

Exposed right here in the in the beginning can i get rid of this safely i think so so if we grab this lava source block we can put it in the bucket and then the lava is gone rip lava do we want to grab any of this

Stuff right now i don’t think so we can just leave that there and if we put this lava bucket in our smoker i’m going to get it out of my hands right now so i don’t accidentally pour it anywhere we can put that in and then

The lot the bucket the empty bucket will end up down here and this flame will cook 100 of those finding some more lava would be a wonderful idea but i don’t think we’re going to do that next although i could be wrong we need to think about enchantment which

Means we need to think about getting obsidian blocks which means we need to think about all sorts of stuff getting diamonds so i’ll bet the time has come to start trying to get diamonds here we’re just gonna keep doing this to get as much of this as possible which

Is why it’s great to kill skeletons and actually if we could find a skeleton spawner then we would be full up on this sugar cane in no time we need two stacks plus seven i think and we’re approaching one stack now but you can see how much of that has been

Facilitated by the bones so let’s get some more of that if we can oh look i dropped one everyone is precious can’t leave any behind okay is our lap here complete we could plant some here and maybe we should plant some more here as long as we’re in growing mode that’s

A traveling merchant don’t mind him he’s pretty useless Um we’re running out of space to plant these that’s a good problem to have in general i guess because this is so hard to come upon in the early game in mass quantities you have to plant them next to water which is why i’m doing what i’m doing

And we need to get rid of this tree excuse me now he’s gonna spit at me fortunately he missed i don’t know how much damage it does actually uh do we have any more bodies of water we can plant this stuff around i mean maybe we’re just happy with how

Much we have now i don’t know here’s some more space okay so i think we’re optimizing our sugarcane production we could put lights around it so it grows better at night um but yeah we need sugarcane for paper for enchanting and we need cows for leather for books for enchanting and so we’re

Doing good but what we also need is diamonds and obsidian and um a book so maybe let’s get going with that and in the meantime should i be harvesting these potatoes are those full-grown or do we want to wait until we can maybe get our hands on a fortune tool there’s plenty

It’s going to take a few buckets of lava to get through all that what we want to do is fill this and it’s going to take a while so let’s see do i have an iron pickaxe i do do i have wood some and food okay i think we’re ready to go mining

Let’s see if we can get some good stuff done eventually we’re going to be able to come out of this door okay and go down here and this will be a little building with stairs i think and we’ll build a mine down here which will be fun

Uh but it is a little time consuming so for now what we’re going to do is we’re going to just see if we can’t make our way to the bottom for uh some resources and uh i’ll wait until i get pretty low or find something interesting and then

I’ll rejoin you guys so you don’t have to watch me collect all this cool so uh see you in a second all right guys we’re getting pretty deep down uh i’ve gathered a couple stacks of coal a stack of iron and maybe a quarter stack of gold or and i’ve discovered

This interesting stuff here so we have got um a lava source block here which we’re going to stifle and our iron pick is running low so we need to start cooking more here’s another okay so let’s see we want to block this and this and this before we do this

Oh yeah and we’ve got quite a hole here that’s obsidian underneath that water so that’s diamond level that’s probably y equals 11 or so um so we’re in a good place to start lighting up the area and making it a bit safer and setting up some sort of camp in fact maybe

Right here would be a good spot for it did i just hear an arrow okay just making this lit up a bit more spawn resistant this gravel wants to fall on your head for sure that’s a little bit of a fall okay so that’s a safe dead end now um

Not quite sure how i want to handle that i do want to get some iron cooking though so we can start making some more tools so where is our base i suppose this is it right here uh so we’ll carve out a little hole here and we’ll make a

Crafting bench and maybe a couple of furnaces and maybe even a chest if we need to and uh sort of get going um i’m hopeful that we will find diamonds soon we’re gonna need diamonds and obsidian let’s make a furnace put this in here and uh seven

Okay and then let’s go ahead and make one chest and just in case we die now we can put some stuff in here that will be helpful to us i don’t think we’re gonna die though i think we’re gonna do this smart although that is quite a drop and i’m

Not sure how we’re going to get back up here other than just swimming up the waterfall i suppose so let’s uh stop this up oh is this our hole it probably is yeah right there so maybe this is the way to get down to diamond level especially if this continues through

Which it does all right we’re at 11 right now spread those out a little bit differently and then this cave begins to climb back out of the diamond depth area although we’re back down here again and now i see some redstone and some flowing water and some obsidian so this is quite promising

But a total dead end okay but that’s okay we can get we can get this iron maybe there will be lava underneath it no but we are at that depth okay so we’ve explored this i don’t want to quite block it off yet because we want to come back for this

Iron although i think my pickaxe is a little too low to risk it right now and that’s a good supply of coal right there as well so we just need to remember that this is here and it’s good news and we need to make it so it’s not so dark

Okay so back to here now what can we do about this Hmm reach there we go that was a bit dangerous but this will help us out because this will get rid of this big old flow that’s hurting us hurting our ability to explore safely it’s also though going to leave us in darkness so let’s spread a little bit of light around

Do i see natural generating cobblestone up there oh that’s a little dangerous not in love with that this will be fine though just a little bit of exploring before we go and pick up our smelted iron make a new pickaxe and some more armor honestly okay so we’ve got that lit up

To the point where i feel a little bit safer that stuff is not going to spawn and then wander over and drop down on us okay where’s our base right here okay so what do we have we need boots and a helmet and then we will have full iron which is

Great and we also need a pickaxe so let’s put on the boots in the helmet and put this pickaxe right here and then i think store leftover iron in here let this keep going and it will be time to see what we can find down here oh it goes down a ways hmm

Doesn’t seem to be anything bad down here i need to watch out for that’s a bit of a hole huh it’s weird that there’s no water right there okay let’s do this aha will this be open it is a bit open this is just begging to be diamonds around here somewhere another spider

But now we’re climbing again so there’s not going to be any diamonds up here we’re too high up hello i like your enchanted breastplate there oh oh what’s it got on it projectile protection thorns and unbreaking interesting but what we are truly interested in is more torches all this exploration is

Using them up that’s the skelly okay let’s murder him fast die diamonds diamonds no mushrooms now we’re climbing more and more uh we do not need two we do want that gold though oh that could have all collapsed that’s a lot of gravel well if that’s not just a big old dead

End i don’t know what is well hello there ow what if mobs could eat food to heal that would be a fun change speaking of eating food to heal okay we came from this way let’s try it this way oh diamonds all right just what we needed it took a little

More exploration than i thought it was going to but i’m glad we found them one thing i love to do when i find diamonds is go a little bit past them and keep lighting stuff up let’s get these diamonds let’s see how many we got we want to dig

Around the diamonds first to make sure there’s no surprise hidden lava or anything above them or below them anything like that what i’m hoping for is five or more and it looks like that’s what we got one two three four five um the reason i hope for five is because

Three will make a pickaxe and two will make any an enchanting table oh and maybe we have six as much as i’ve played minecraft i still get excited when i find my first diamonds in a new world so the coordinates are on the screen in case you were playing along with this seed

Uh you can come find these diamonds if you want to um i didn’t have to dig for them really i just weaved my way through and found them okay we’re gonna take one two three four and five now is there anything bad below this one no so we’ll go ahead and take six

All right so now what we can do is we can dig up some obsidian and that will unlock all sorts of fun stuff we can build an enchantment table with it and diamonds and one book but we can also do is um build another portal to it and go to the nether

Which sounds like a deviously good time to me i think full armor is enough to go into the nether especially if you’re just gonna poke about around a bit and not go too far okay let’s be careful here if we fall into the lava and die did i hear skeleton

And we won’t have our diamonds anymore so we already went that way and then we blocked it off and i haven’t gone this way yet but it looks to be like more diamonds oh and gravel gravel likes to fall and there it goes you got to be careful

Because it could fall on your head and suffocate you or knock you into something bad or disappear into the lava below definitely don’t want diamonds falling into lava and i wonder if we should just grab these instead of waiting for fortune whoa boy that scared me i did not like that feeling

Uh yeah let’s just grab them because we can turn this into a diamond axe which will be good for harvesting wood or maybe a diamond sword which would be good for fighting bad guys i don’t know i don’t think we’re gonna do any diamond armor yet okay now we’re gonna swim up

But first i would love to grab some of this obsidian although i can’t not until we make our diamond pickaxe so let’s swim up here we go up to daisy whoop okay careful okay all right lots of iron that’s good news let’s add this 54 uh

Seven we’ll do all of that okay let’s make our diamond pick we’ve got a diamond pickaxe and then let’s put this stuff in here we need to save two for the enchanting table enchantment table and um What can we use the other four four boots or an axe and a shovel or a sword and another sword a sword and a hoe we could make a diamond hoe might be a little early for that uh okay let’s combine these and then we got to get ourselves

Some obsidian as i keep saying and that always takes a while so uh hmm we’ve got some blocks that’s a good thing so we just jump down here and now that we have this perhaps we can build a wall around this and then stop it up a level below

There and here’s our obsidian down here now is this going to be lava underneath the stone no it’s not usually what happens is lava generates down here and then if water also generates and then touches it turns into obsidian does not seem to be the case here

Let’s just light this up a bit since it’s so dark so we have more than enough obsidian that we need here we need at least 10 for the portal and i’ll grab 12 that’s the way i like to do them and we need four for the enchantment table so

The goal here is going to be to grab 16 of these and one safe-ish way to do it is to put lava here then use our diamond pickaxe and then we can just go to town and even if there’s lava beneath this the water will turn the lava into obsidian before it

Can turn us into ashes and bones so i am going to time lapse or just skip this part and i’ll join you guys soon all right i was able to grab 26 of the obsidian which will make us one portal one enchantment table and then once we go through to the nether

We’ll have enough to make another portal if we want to so that’s great news uh we’re gonna wait for this stuff to smelt up and then we’re gonna go back to the surface and i’ll meet you guys up there oh hello it’s a little slime oh that’s a medium-sized slime that’s a

Little slime now we have a bunch of little slimes what’s fun about these guys is they can’t actually hurt yet it’s just a nice little uh mosh pit uh they would hurt you if they were bigger though so they are your enemy um pro tip you can just punch them with whatever

They die in a single hit so don’t bother using up your nice swords durability on those guys is this a droopy flower let’s take that up to the surface and we got to figure out how to get out of here this is why you always place the torches

On the right when you’re going into the cave so you can follow them on the left to find your way out without getting lost aha ah daylight we’re out of that cave back to home sweet home and just as i suspected we run out of fuel here

Uh on my way up i did pick up a lava source block in my bucket so now we’re going with that again that’ll cook the next hundred potatoes excellent okay and we do have some more coal for cooking more too so that’s great all right uh so we’re going to need to think

About where we want to stick a portal we don’t want it to be too close because we don’t want to be listening to it all the time but we don’t want to be too far we want it to be accessible so here’s our home our mine’s going to be here

Our fields and our cows are over here maybe we should stick it over here up on the hill just a little bit Hmm yeah i’m thinking here-ish we could build a building around it now i like to make my portals let’s see maybe we should make it right at 300. and what and 80 no how about 70. here’s 70 okay right here i like to make them at memorable

Coordinates so we’re going to do three three three and one two three now we have 10 left for another portal inside the nether do we want to dig up to it i don’t think so holy smokes look at all the stuff i have in my inventory i should be putting some

Of this away in fact i think i’ll go ahead and do that um let’s we’ll get organized a little later i’m just going to set this here for now and dump a bunch of this stuff into here Especially don’t want to put any of our diamond stuff at risk a bucket might be a good idea oh let’s plant our flower that we rescued from the mine uh let’s put that next to the door there you go little guy enjoy your new life above ground okay do i have a flint

Piece of flint anywhere i do right here okay so with one flint and one steel we can make a flint and steel And that will be good for lighting our portal we can also make an enchantment table if we have the leather and the paper for it so here i’ll show you guys what i’m going to do i’m gonna make one book and then i’ll probably make the rest off camera just in case

I’m not gonna have enough leather to do it but if you kill a cow it’ll drop meat and leather sometimes usually and this is here’s a piece of leather right here so what you want to do is you want to set your sugar cane into your crafting

Area like that to make paper okay then you want to put these in a pattern like that with leather in the middle and that’ll make a book and then with your book you can add one one two three four obsidian and two diamonds and then you draw it in a shape like this

One two one two three four and then a book on top boom now we have an enchanting table let’s just stick that in here for now we’re going to have to decide where to put the building that contains our enchanting table as well um i don’t know where we’ll put that yet

Maybe near that but not so close that we can hear it i don’t know um but we’re gonna need three 45 more books so that’s 45 pieces of leather and 145 pieces of sugar cane and i don’t know if we’re going to get that from that amount of cows we should

However since they’re looking so crowded maybe expand their area just a little bit because honestly they could use it they could use a little space whoops i dug too far down there there we go Hey guy you guys go a little bit of room and then how wide is this we got one two three four five six seven so i think we want to make this nine then it will be the size of a one of our farms our crop farms you know yeah like that That’s not a very fast shovel all right there’s a little bit more room for you guys now i don’t feel so bad although i should still feel probably a little bit bad this is these are not ideal cow conditions but they’re not even actual cows

So i don’t know how much time do we spend worrying about them probably not much okay let’s get our flint and steel out and uh we’ll go into the nether and see what it’s like see on the other side this is a fun biome and look lots of lava lots

Hi hello oh these things are dangerous and i could get knocked down there if i’m not careful so um welcome to the nether if i kill this thing it’s going to turn into medium-sized ones yeah which we gotta kill but then it’ll turn into the small ones and unlike the

Slimes the small ones can hurt you oh and i am not full on hunger so i’m gonna do a little bit of jumping here a little bit of eating and then a lot of attacking i don’t want him to stay in the lava because then i can’t get his

Drops lava doesn’t hurt them but whatever they drop can burn in the lava so you gotta be careful it’s another medium-sized one okay here comes the small guys you always want to back up when you defeat a non-small form of them because the smaller forms will come

Or running okay so i think what we’ll use this nether for then in the beginning is uh hey we don’t want to fall down here so we’re going to cover that up and we want to feel just a little bit safe so we’re going to build ourselves a barrier

We don’t have that much cobblestone to do it but we’ll do our best this should provide a little bit of safety they’re gonna have a hard time getting in here can i fall right here yes i can so let’s do that so we don’t accidentally fall one two three that’s all we got

So what we’ll use this nether for is we’ll come through here we’ll peek around here we’ll grab a lava in our bucket and then we will bring it back and have it ready to go for our potato cooking farm so what i will do off camera between this episode and the

Next one i think is uh oh it’s nighttime ooh i see a creeper don’t let them blow up okay and then i can farm a bunch of potatoes uh kill some cows breed some more we’ll get all the leather and all the paper that we need for our enchanting setup

And um we’ll also cook all the potatoes that we need to complete to basically fill that chest beneath the potato farm because what we are the potato cooking machine because what we want to do is we want to fill that chest uh until it can’t hold

Anymore and then we will start to be able to take advantage of a broken mechanic to get ridiculous amounts of experience very quickly and that will help our enchanting setup so yeah you can look forward to that and um i don’t know maybe we’ll put in a floor next time
