Minecraft Transit Railway Tutorials: Elevators
Hello everyone, and welcome to the Minecraft Transit Railway tutorials. In this episode, we will learn how to add elevators to our world. Elevators and escalators are in the latest version of the Minecraft Transit Railway mod, but there is also a standalone mod, Modern Elevators and Escalators.
If you have Minecraft Transit Railway installed, you do not need Modern Elevators and Escalators. In this tutorial, we will try to build elevators from the concourse to two platform levels. First, let’s look at how the elevator shaft is constructed. For this example, let’s clear a 2×2 space at our station.
Constructing the Elevator Shaft
Next, we will place down Elevator Tracks. These are required in order to guide the elevator to where we want it to go. The Elevator Floor Track marks the positions where the elevator should stop, so we will place those down at our concourse and platform levels.
Each Elevator Floor Track can be right-clicked with a Brush to configure the floor number and description. We will call them “C” for concourse, “1” for the first level of platforms, and “2” for the second level of platforms. We will connect the Elevator Floor Tracks using normal Elevator Tracks.
Spawning the Elevator
Let’s put Elevator Doors by the positions where the elevator will stop. Now, we can spawn in the elevator using any of the spawn items. Since we made a 2×2 space and since we put doors on both sides of the elevator shaft, we will use the 2×2 double-sided spawn item.
Note that elevators must be touching Elevator Tracks at all times, otherwise they will automatically disappear. Also, there should be only one elevator per Elevator Track and one Elevator Track per elevator at all times. We will also need Elevator Buttons, which must be linked to one or more Elevator Floor Tracks.
Finalizing the Elevator System
Let’s use the Elevator Buttons Link Connector to link them up. Now, we can right click on the button to call the elevator. Once it arrives, simply walk into the elevator cabin and press the Z key to open up the floor selection menu. Congratulations, we have built our first functional elevator!
Sometimes it might be necessary to run two elevators next to each other. Let’s build a similar elevator shaft next to this one. However, we will not place additional Elevator Buttons. Instead, we will use the Elevator Buttons Link Connector to connect the existing buttons to the new Elevator Floor Tracks.
Upgrade complete! Thank you everyone for watching this episode of the Minecraft Transit Railway tutorials. Today we learned about how elevators work, created a basic system, and upgraded our design.
