Hello everyone this is impulse and today I got something pretty cool to show you guys what I have behind me is an item sorting system and guys this one is super simple to build and has overflow protection and so that’s why I love this one I’ve been using it a lot lately it’s It doesn’t use Pistons so it’s completely silent and every single slice is the same every single item you need to sort the way you make it it’s the same they’re completely tie a little you can see behind me they’re all sitting right next to each other and it’s just It’s just super simple to do super simple very resource efficient so let me show you exactly what is happening behind the scenes on this thing so obviously you guys can guess these items are all getting sorted out you can see the item frames and it tells you what’s In them and so you can expect that that’s what’s going to be in there when you open it and basically right here is the feeder line so this is where your input would be if you had hoppers or whatever you’re having your input be into this system and then the way it Works is behind here you can see we have a comparator coming out of this hopper here and this is where your filters gonna be and then it just puts the signal down here and you guys are probably looking at this scratching your head say an impulse you are not showing Me anything new and you’re partially right I mean the idea to do the redstone like this is not new but that design actually had a major flaw and that was that it would overflow and the reason for that was because it was like this basically the the redstone signal was Only too long and then if a hopper got full that signal would actually cross over into the slice next to it and by doing so would actually cause it’s filter to drain out and basically ruin your whole sorting system this one does not do that The way this works is I have a hopper here with just I put some named items in here it doesn’t really matter what you do just put that put items in here that you know are not going to make their way into the system by naming them you’re Pretty much guaranteed that’s not going to happen fill up your four slots there and then put in your item that you want to filter on and it doesn’t matter you can just put one in there just to get things started and then basically as you put in more coming to the system it’s Gonna grab the first 41 and keep them and then the rest will flow through and go to where they need to but as you can see here if I take this and I fill it completely up if it was full the signal does not leak over this over to the Slice next to it and that’s the problem the other system had so basically the reason it does that is because you can only fit 68 total items in here at any given time and that’s not going to create a long enough signal to do that and so that’s the magic behind this Thing otherwise it works pretty much the same it’s got the repeater into a block with a torch here and that’s going to power that block which as items flow through basically the signal is going to flash down here on that and we can probably demonstrate if I throw some More in and you can see it’s going to basically release that torch as the items are going through and then as soon as it gets enough back down to 41 that torch comes back on blocking it back up so pretty simple pretty simple but that’s what makes it so beautiful that’s That’s the whole thing is that it’s really simple to build you can see you can repeat this without even thinking and which for me is exactly what I need and then at the end here basically you have any items that make their way through so I for instance I’m not Sorting dirt right so that’s not what I have set up so if I put that in the chest here it’s gonna get tested for all the filters and then it’s not gonna be brought down any and you can see it flowing in so at that point you know you Could do whatever you want you could put some sort of mass storage system here just to not lose your item so you can hook it up to a disposal system or something whatever you want to do but that’s basically the output of non sorted items so probably by now you can Figure out exactly how to build it just by me showing you but I’ll go ahead and build it for you but first let me show you what it takes per slice so you can see here each item you want to sort this is all you’re gonna need you’re gonna Need a chest you’re gonna be alternating if you go in side by side between regular and traps so it’s gonna be one of the other four redstone dust a repeater a comparator a redstone torch then whatever blocks solid block that you want to build the the structure out Of in the back that puts you all your redstone on it three hoppers and then four named items and that’s all you need per item that you want to sort so that’s really really cost-effective there it’s it’s pretty cheap to do okay so I’m gonna go ahead and grab these materials And I’m actually going to build an alternate version of this one and we’re gonna put the hoppers into the back and basically the only difference is we’re gonna lower this whole thing down one by doing that but then it’s going to come off the back one more block so depending On what your space needs are you can choose one design or the other but we’ll build both of them here we have this one and we’ll build the other one just so you guys can get an idea of what that looks like so we’ll go ahead and put Down more chests here again you got to alternate the chest just like this and we’ll do eight I think that’s eight it looks like it and then now we’re gonna do the hoppers into the backs of the chests here so you got a hold down shift of course to do This and now what you want to do is just basically put down a temporary block on top of those chests and we’re gonna face some hoppers directly into those blocks and then you can take them right back out don’t leave them there or else you’re not going to be able to get your Chests open and finally needed to decide which direction you want the items to flow so I’m gonna bring them in from left to right just like I did before so basically the hoppers will start here and then end up over here so we’ll just Go ahead and and put a block at the end here for the hoppers to flow to and then you can do whatever you like there I usually just put a chest right there for the items to fall into you could do an item disposal system or whatever you Want all right and then finally we’ll put an input chest right there okay so the next step is to do the wiring in the back so this hopper right here that I’m looking at the one that was facing into the temporary block that’s the one we Actually want to pull signal off of so we’re gonna go ahead and put some blocks down right here under it so that we can put a comparator next to it that will actually be the one pulling that signal out of it and before we start putting wiring down we’re going to need To get down under the ground here since we’re doing the one that goes a little lower we got to do a bit of digging here and just get underneath just like so okay and then I’m gonna put blocks here because we’re actually going to put repeaters all along there just like that And then next a block right there behind the repeaters now we can run our redstone dust just on every single open block there just like that all right now we just need to hook up the torches which are gonna be underneath here you’ll be able to see exactly where the Repeaters are we’re gonna dig this out of course you can fill this back in when you’re done and those repeaters are gonna need to go into a solid block just like that and torches on the backsides of those there we go all right so now The wiring is all done we just need to set our filters so open the hopper up grab your your named block there and start filling your your filters up the first floor slots with your named itom and do that all the way across okay so the next step is just figure out what Items you want to filter on so I’m just gonna go ahead just like before I’m gonna grab just the first couple items here in the building block inventory and creative and that’s good and then some dirt just to prove that items will make it through and we’ll just start throwing Them in here just like that fill each one up it will filter through the extra and then we should be good to go actually I did only grab eight okay so there we go that should start flowing items into these chests down below and you see it’s really really fast as well Which is nice and we should be able to take an item that we didn’t filter on put it into the system and it will make its way all the way down to this chest there perfect and that’s it guys pretty simple just like I said and resource-efficient hopefully this is Something you guys will will be able to use in your worlds I know I’ve already used it multiple times in mine and I think I pretty much be using it unless I have some sort of space issue I’ll pretty much be using it all the time now and love it I love it Love the simplicity of it so alright guys if you did appreciate the design please hit that like button for me if you’re not subscribed of course subscribe because yep there’ll be more to come I’m nowhere near done so alright guys thanks for watching and we’ll see you again next time Have a good one everyone You Video Information
