Minecraft Xbox – Speed Building Contest W/ iBallistic Squid – Part 1

Hello this is dampy longnose and welcome to a minecraft let’s play video today i’ve got another speed building contest thingy um i did one of these before but i didn’t record it but if you remember i put up with like a video for you all to

Vote for like who you want to win and i won it uh it was actually me and chloe as a team against breadstick and flint and uh we built a duck and the other team built like a big massive boat but i don’t know people seem to look fondly on

The duck and we managed to win it and i’ve here now got another one and this time it’s a 1v1 battle against i ballistic squid um who’s a fellow youtuber does minecraft videos i’m sure there’s a good few of you that have heard of him and yeah we’re going uh 1v1

Here and we don’t know what we’re building yet um i’m also going to be joined by alpha lee and chloe who are just going to be sort of cheerleading and watching and egging us like egging us on and sort of i don’t know just sort

Of cheering us on a bit um this is where we slept last night you can see chloe’s bed uh lee’s bed f awful lovely lovely this is stampy’s nap panel as i called it and uh there it just says love shaq and basically the rules are pretty

Simple we got like this space each on either side uh neither of us know what we got to build yet um behind that block there’s another sign which reveals what we’ve got to build and neither of us have seen it yet and when um zach jumps off that tower and lands on

The ground that is go all action stations and uh we got 45 minutes to build uh whatever it is we’re building and yeah that that’s that’s pretty much all you need to know like there’s no other real rules oh no there is uh there’s a twist um about 20 minutes or

So into the build uh zach mann is going to add a twist he’s going to add something else that we’ve got to build build a floating house okay got to build a floating house okay so now we i can’t start yet i’ve got to wait for him to land uh we’ve got a

Little bit of time to think about what to build i could build a house floating on a cloud um i could build like a air balloon house and i could build a house with like rockets like uh like rocket propelled stuff you know like i could have like fire underneath and like smoke

Uh with cobwebs uh what else could i do a floating house so i can’t be like dangling off anything um i don’t know what you think do you think air balloon or floating on clouds i could do it like held up by an air balloon but like just

Build fake clouds just sort of around the area um look at him go look at him go look at him stein already bloody out all right show off um i don’t even decide what i’m gonna build yet okay so what can the actual house be like it

Could be like a really traditional house i could feel like up you know the film up where it’s just like a really normal house and all held up by like balloons that would be cool but it’s not very original isn’t it okay chloe okay i’m thinking um i’m under pressure i don’t

Know what to build um oh no what would be cool uh would be like a cool shape for a house um it could be a floating boot or is that a rubbish idea i have no idea what to build i don’t panic in a better geek now i’m under pressure stop stop looking

Everyone stop look at me turn off the video because i can’t concentrate while you’re all listening um it could be like a big hat i’m looking around my room for inspiration and just seeing things and i got boots and hats in my room and look at him going she’s showing off uh

Okay no let’s not rush let’s not rush building something than changing my mind halfway through uh what have i got to build out of um it could be held up by animals it could be getting like pulled along then i’m gonna build the animals it could be like

Getting pulled all my snow golems like like regular reindeer um oh man i’ll start stop looking at me everyone um i i have no idea what type of i mean i think the up idea is okay held up my hot air balloons all right i just know i

Have no idea like what the actual house will be like i just gotta start i’ve got to start building something soon though uh it could be a melon house no that’s a rubbish idea uh i seriously i just want it to look really like magical and epic and stuff

Okay let’s just start building um okay if i have it like a stone and wood mainly um yeah okay okay i just need to start building whatever okay look guys i’m building i’m building off so look at him go look at him already just whizzing ahead right whatever it needs to be in

The in the sky so i need to build like a tower up just so i can get to wherever i’ve got to build i don’t want to build it too high so you can still uh see it from the ground um i just need to i just

Need to really decide on an art style okay let’s just let’s just build and just keep building and just adding stuff to it and just trying to make it look better okay that’s i’m just gonna keep just building and building and building and then just changing and editing it

And just seeing what i end up with because this is a timer this is speed building this isn’t the best most detailed and incredible thing you can build this is the best thing you can build under a strict time limit uh so yeah i’m going to

Really think about the title just to be a big box and i’ll get rid of this i’m not going to build a box because everyone builds a bloody box building and if you remember last time there was like a divider between us so like we couldn’t see what the other person was

Building this time we can this time uh whatever the other person’s building is in a complete like plain view so i don’t know what that means i mean i doubt either of us would want to copy each other because that would be a bit boring but you can kind of see what

They’re building and if it looks good sort of step up your game so how big is this one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven uh one two three four five six seven eight eight nine ten eleven is that clue with like a pom-pom like like a cheerleader

Cheering me on look at them cheering me on with their little red wool one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven yeah that is right and then i just need to do this again um yeah i have no idea what i’m doing um i’m gonna

Keep going i wish i had a really strong idea i could have done a bird or something i know about halfway through i’m gonna have a really awesome idea and then like by that point it will be too late to do it because i’ve already be

Doing whatever it is i’m doing now so one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven uh i need to do the same here uh i don’t know if this is uh completely exact but um it will do i’m sure they’re not going to be counting the blocks to make sure

The dimensions are exactly the same um i think this is right if it goes to there i think that’s about right and then this will go along here uh one two three four five six seven eight nine ten eleven and then if i link this up here hopefully this this will be

Like a complete circle we’ll see anyway um i’m not entirely sure how good this is i’m rubbish at building like just before we started this like um i was feeling pretty confident after my victory with the duck and i was like okay all i need to do is do a repeat of

That and then ballistic squid invited me into one of his worlds and he’s built so many like big and amazing looking things and it all looks so cool and it kind of it got me a bit worried you know i was a bit worried about who i chose for my

Opponent for this um yeah i still have no idea what i’m doing i’m just going to try and build just a nice looking house and then have a big hot air balloon like holding it up and uh hopefully uh once i’ve built like a basic house and i’m

Happy that whatever i’ve got a finished product then product probably selling this uh then i’m gonna add just a load of details and make it look better so um one two three oh god one two three four five six uh one two three four five see there we

Go i’m quite good at guessing like to get things exactly the same uh unless i have got this all wrong uh so yeah once again no idea what i’m doing i’d love to give you a commentary about what’s going through in my mind right now but all

That’s going through my mind is panic complete and utter panic because i don’t know the pressure seems a lot more one two three four five six um because last time as well um i was with chloe and i think that made things a whole lot easier having just a teammate who you

Can talk to and share ideas with and like i could suggest something and she could be like oh no that’s like completely rubbish dampy let’s not do that but here like um i’ve got to do it all by myself and i have no one to confide with like if this ends out

Rubbish the only person i can blame is me and that makes that makes me slightly scared have i done that too too too tall one two three four five six yeah this is too tall oh well it don’t matter and uh look what he’s always oh he’s doing like the um

I don’t know if you saw the the videos i’ve done touring comics world uh to be honest i’m not sure if they’re uh online yet um due to my weird order of uploading videos but yeah um i did a tour of comics world and he did a place

Was like a sky islands and it looked really awesome and um yeah i don’t know if he’s doing that kind of style it’s like it’s like a floating island rather than just a floating house and uh yeah his comics will look really cool so if

It looks half as good as that then i might be in for some trouble um this looks alright this is quite a cool design um i’m not sure do you reckon sandstone or normal stone um let me try out normal stone and let’s just see how that looks compared i think

Sandstone in the dark wood does look good but i’m just getting a bit too worried that it’s going to look too similar to my own house and i might get uh mark down for unoriginality because i know zach does watch my video so he’s he’s aware of the kind of things i do

Normally build so i kind of want things to stand out what’s chloe build is that like a little viewing pole she’s like the uh like the adjudicator she’s like the judge watching on like that little poll um i kind of preferred sandstone sandstone i told you so this is how i build

Normally like in videos i’ve normally got a like a bit of a better idea of what i’m gonna do but when i’m building and i’m not recording all i do is i just change my mind over and over and over again and for like what i want to build

Like literally so many times like i just build anything and then i’ll just keep editing it and until i’m happy and yeah that’s kind of what you’re getting a glimpse of here so i guess these could be like the window frames here uh let’s see let’s see how this looks um

I think this looks alright um i’m about i’m about nine minutes into this video aren’t i well about 10 minutes into the video so uh i’m just under 10 minutes i’m okay we got we got three quarters of an hour so i’m not i’m not running out

Of time yet but i don’t know time does have a tendency of sneaking up on you i remember last time when i was doing it with chloe we kind of streaked ahead and got like the majority of the duck built really quickly and then like we sort of

Relaxed a bit and started fussing a little bit too much on little details and then uh as soon as we knew it it was it was game over and the the clack the clacton went and it was game over so i mean we did manage to win that one but i

Know that whatever i can’t relax and sorry this is probably the worst commentary i’ve ever given because like i’m trying to concentrate on what i’m building and stuff but like i don’t know i kind of feel like i mean before i did this and especially when i was doing the first

One with chloe i was like oh it’s just a bit of fun it doesn’t matter who does it better like it’s just going to be a bit of a laugh but once once he said go and we’re into competition time i wanted to bloody win i wanted to win this thing

And it’s kind of the same now it’s all a bit of fun and it’s all a bit of a joke and i don’t care if i lose like at all i’m not a very competitive person but now i’m in it now i’m building i i want

To build the best bloody thing i can do especially as i know like there’s going to be people watching this in this video people like you um so yeah i have no idea how this is going to turn out i’m kind of happy with it so far to

Be honest i’m glad i didn’t make it just a box uh i think this this could turn out okay i just need to i need to keep my focus up and sort of decide how i want everything else to be and it’s getting dark now and i think we are all

Going to go to bed but i don’t want to waste time trying to go to bed if squid’s not going to go to bed so um if he heads up if he heads over there to the to the sleeping quarters to the love shack then i’m going to join him as well

Um how should i do these how should i do these middle bits um i might do something similar to my house and do like uh like rows like this or sandstone and then i feel like i should have another material i feel like i should have a normal stone or something

I could use something more adventurous like diamond or something cause i never used diamond because i don’t have that in my world uh no i think i think i might just stick to standard stone bricks uh well how would this look um this might look a bit rubbish to be

Honest but this is what i do i i try things out if it looks rubbish then i get rid of it looks a bit like a sandwich it looks like the the the dark woods like the bread and this is like the filling of like a sandwich and yeah

That that actually looks naft doesn’t it i think what i might do is i might do a pattern similar with sandstone and then do uh stone half slabs like kind of sticking out because that can often look quite cool especially when it’s kind of slanted like this so

I’ll just try it out i just do it um i’m not completely out of time once i’ve decided how i do this wall i can do all of the others exactly the same so i’m not too worried about that and i can leave that gap inside there so um

Whenever i do the inside i can do it like with a different pattern so i can do sandstone there and then i think sandstone again there and then yeah this will do i’m making a sandwich again here we go i’ve got a massive cheese sandwich here there’s a huge cheese sandwich

There on the side and that does that does look okay and then at the end i can go around and do some half slabs and see how that looks um of course you’ve probably noticed that i did mention that this is a um a 45-minute building challenge and you’ve probably looked

Already and noticed that this video isn’t 45 minutes and i’ve just realized it’s probably getting quite dark for you so while i go i’m gonna shove down some glowstone simply for you because it always looks darker in the videos there you go lit some stuff up for you just so

You can so you can see properly um yeah i realize that this probably looks really dark for you right now uh so i’m gonna lighten it up and yeah as i was saying uh the video the video length i’m gonna split this up into three videos

Probably uh so uh it’s not just massive videos and hopefully that will make this a little bit more watchable because i know that sitting through 45 minutes of me rambling like this as i struggle to build as quick as i can might become pretty painful and how’s he doing let’s

Have a look okay he seems to be building like a like some sort of castle which um i don’t know i don’t know if he’s going to be too ambitious you see because i think that it’s very easy to get the tendency just to try and build the best

Thing you can and not think about how long it’s going to take and if he tries to build some sort of massive castle then hopefully i mean i wish him good luck before the game but hopefully he could try and build something a bit too ambitious and not

Finish it and not add any like small detail hopefully by building something a bit more subtle and a bit more i don’t know just trying to be well designed but not the biggest thing hopefully that might give me a bit of an advantage and this this is looking okay isn’t it this

Looks all right so far i mean it’s a bit bland but um i should really add something for the inside now and uh am i gonna have a floor lower than this or what am i gonna do okay what should the floor be like and get rid of these i

Don’t need uh these bits around here i want the floor to be a different style to everything else i mean it depends if i’m gonna have different rooms i haven’t even put a door in yet i mean do i need a door like this is floating in the sky

Does does a sky building really need i suppose it does need a door and it’s not gonna work with those windows is it right um these windows can be smaller at the front then and uh the door can be here uh i just need floor no the door’s gonna be there and then

Uh that will be there so that that’s where my door’s gonna be i might as well add that just so i got a good reference point towards like where the middle of the house is going to be um if i can actually fit through the doorway go and get through uh

I have a front door this kind of it looks to be like an owl that’s like the beak and that’s the look at that like there’s the ears and there’s the eyes and there’s the beak of the owl as intended it’s an owl house as i planned

All along as you saw um what’s going on oh oh we got i think zachman’s adding the the added twist that we got to build hopefully it won’t uh interfere with what i’m building too much um now i just need to decide on what i want for my

Floor i don’t want the floor to all be one thing because i can look a bit bland uh okay what’s he saying what’s it say oh it’s not up there yet um so looks like i think stone and i don’t actually know sandstone looks really nice for floor so i might do

Sandstone and red wool huh that might look pretty dandy is that sign written yet no um okay so how should i do the pattern um uh i don’t know if checkered might look a bit rubbish i might just do stripes of sandstone and red wool that no that’d be a bit rubbish um

I could do like um i might do like a like rose like this or how did you know i don’t think red wool and sandstone looks that good okay what does this say add a waterfall okay i can do that i’ll have another waterfall in the middle maybe or on the

Roof i’ll add something on the back of the roof okay i can do that that doesn’t interfere too much of what i’m building okay so i need to add a waterfall at some point actually this might be a good point to end the video while i’m trying
