All right you win I capitulate I give up I’ve been worn down by the internet you got me Minecraft is flat are you happy now are you satisfied you have finally broken me Rest in peace people who hate when I scream all right so why are we talking about this topic that I think I’ve covered at least two times now well you use my Discord server for this in preparation for a future video I may never do where I cover all of my Mistakes that I’ve ever made at least the big ones I made a channel called Austin’s mistakes and one of the people on the server was like Hey Minecraft’s world is verifiably an experimentally flat and you know what they have a point so today on the science we’re going to Do something we rarely do we’re going to assume the game’s logic is correct prove that the Minecraft world is flat and then dig into the absolutely insane cosmological model that is the Minecraft solar system that would have to exist in order for this Bonkers world to to you Know exist now proving that the Minecraft World is Flat is actually extremely easy okay here’s the Minecraft Earth and it has something called A World boundary that goes all the way around it this boundary is at plus and minus 29 nine million 999 984 blocks from the center of the map you cannot Through normal means get Beyond this border and if you could the world stops generating Solid Ground at 30 million blocks let’s just be generous and easy on ourselves and say that it is 30 million blocks that is addition so a square Minecraft world in total is 60 million by 60 million blocks In its full Dimensions given that each block is a meter this makes it you know 60 million meters by 60 million meters or over 3.6 trillion square kilometers or over 7058 times bigger than the Earth’s measly 510 million kilometer surface area so you see normally when I Do videos we take this entire 900 billion square kilometer area of the Minecraft world and kind of like assume it’s around a sphere and fake wrap it around it like this like like it’s wrapping paper there are a few issues with this however for one Minecraft’s world doesn’t wrap around even a tiny Little bit you see when you get to this point of the Minecraft map if it were round you would loop around to this part and if you were here and kept going you would loop around to the opposite part now the rest gets a bit tricky because Of how flat surfaces map onto spheres and I’m not really smart enough to actually animate it but the idea Remains the Same for the entire border Minecraft’s World cannot be plastered onto a sphere because you cannot actually go around it the stuff that generates beyond the world boundary does Not match what would be adjacent to it if this were a round Planet so that is one way we can prove the World is Flat but there’s a better way a simpler way one that has no room for mistakes like oh if it kept generating just a little Further it’d start to match no there is a quantifiable second way we can prove that the Minecraft world is indeed super duper flat and it involves one thing the sun let me teleport to the furthest point east in Minecraft during High Noon it’s high noon okay the sun is directly Overhead this means that if I teleport to the opposite mathematical point from here wear it on a globe which would be the exact center of the map it should be precisely midnight with the Sun not only set but completely on the Ops opposite side of the world so let’s do it And whooped some underground okay let me just dig my way up for a dramatic reveal and Bam suckers take that round Minecraft earthers which I guess up until recently did include myself Minecraft’s world are invariably undeniably and super duperly flat without question so where do we go from Here well next we gotta figure out how on Earth or how on Space a flat Minecraft Planet could even work and believe it or not there is an answer I I think at least a hypothetical answer I’ve been racking my brain about this for days trying to figure out how to Account for every factor and I think finally I figured it out and it’s really really weird but before we get into exactly how a flat Earth would work we actually need to know our variables first let’s get gravity out of the way because it’s our biggest hurdle from Start to finish how to generate it how to accommodate for it just everything and thankfully my days of doing pixel measurements to determine Minecraft’s gravity are now behind me because several videos ago I was able to find the exact math radical figure used by Minecraft’s engine to account for its Gravity and it is precisely exactly 32 meters per second squared or over three times Earth’s gravity of 9.8 meters per second squared keep that figure in mind because it’s going to become important later the next factor is a doozy however and it’s how much mass the Minecraft World actually has we need to know this for reasons that will become clear later though if you want a bit of a spoiler it’s because we’re going to need to be moving all of this Mass I’ll get into that part later for now let’s get to figuring out our variables okay okay Mass where do we start well first of all let’s start with the Earth itself which has changed a lot since the caves and cliffs update that came about in 2021 which made the explorable game World Way larger and made it incredibly difficult to do traditional strip mining for Diamonds damn you back in my day Bedrock appeared at layer 0 but since the caves and cliffs update it appears that layer negative 64 which gives you a lot more room to work with especially since the build limit is now at layer 320 creating a floor-to-ceiling total height of a Game World of 384 blocks that is a lot of space to work with now take in with our surface area of 3.6 quadrillion blocks that we found earlier this means that a Minecraft world has a total volume of 1.4 quintillion blocks so how do we begin to find out how much This weighs well thankfully we can use the powers of math to figure it out you see people smarter than me have figured out the average block distribution algorithm for the default settings of Minecraft which we can use to figure out uh well honestly a whole bunch of stuff I was going to do a bunch of random guessing with this episode but with this spreadsheet we can actually do stuff that’s a whole hell of a lot more powerful actually figure out specifics so through this graph I know that on average and given how huge Minecraft worlds are averages do rule the Landscape on average a Minecraft world is three percent water I know that sounds dour compared to the Earth’s 70 but it’s the Earth’s surface that’s 70 water not the actual makeup of the planet if you’re talking about the whole planet water only accounts for about point zero two percent of the total mass Of the planet so comparatively even though only 60 percent of the Minecraft surface is made of water it actually accounts for six percent of the world’s total mass so it’s probably safe to say that Minecraft is very much a water planet where was I oh right finding out the mass of the Minecraft world okay so looking at this data Minecraft is 73.86 air 3.73 water and 22.41 other stuff for the sake of my sanity I’m going to assume that the other stuff is actually the crust of the planet even though it’s technically stuff like trees and whatever too we’ll Be close enough for government work in the end so it doesn’t really matter and it saves me a headache this means that 805.4 quintillion kilograms of Minecraft is Earth 51.4 quintillion kilograms makes up the water in the world and we have 1.3 quintillion kilograms of air which all totaled makes a single Minecraft world weigh over 858.2 quintillion kilograms or just .0036 percent the mass of the Earth teeny tiny but still you know it’s it’s a lot to work with so why do we figure all this out again well it’s because we’re gonna have to move this honking Thing you see we have to create 32 meters per second per second of gravity that’s simply not enough Mass here to generate really any kind of graph gravity that’s meaningful I mean it’ll give you some but it’s really spread out and it’s just like it’s just it’s just It’s just not enough so how are we gonna do it well we could strap Rockets to the back of the Minecraft world and let her rip but that creates several problems one of them is relativity you can effectively create gravity in every appreciable Way by just accelerating Something forward by a certain rate in this case 32 meters per second squared this is where we get g-forces or gravity forces from there’s a problem however which is that acceleration more or less means you’re going faster and faster at this specific rate ignoring the energy requirements entirely this still creates Problems one of them is that you’d be zipping away from any sun and moon at an ever increasing rate which would cause the world to cool and eventually freeze over but the real issue is the speed of light because at this rate starting from zero you’d reach the speed of light in Just about 108 days but you would have to keep accelerating which would cause all sorts of issues like the Excel Declaration of time outside the bubble urine in fact using this formula we can figure out how fast time would accelerate and by the time my Excel spreadsheet broke when I was adding Nines to my decimal because you can never really reach the speed of light in real life 22 million years would be passing for every single year in the Minecraft world which I don’t know seems problematic to me there’d definitely be symptoms in any case with the light Streaks and Suns exploding all the time it’d be chaos what we really need to do is find a way to accelerate without leaving the reference frame of the Minecraft solar system and how do we do that easy peasy lemon squeezy rotation that’s right baby them’s baby boys and Baby girls we make a Halo ring though with a Twist instead of it being a ring we’re going to take this flat plane and attach tethers to it and spin it up like we were spinning a bucket in circles if you have high enough sides that are made Of infinite strenthium you would be able to keep your atmosphere and everything contained and keep it from spilling out into space this process works due to something called centrifugal force which is created when you spin objects in a circle I actually explained this already in my halo ring video and it sure would Be a darn tootin shame if I reuse footage from that to explain how this works actually I don’t have that footage anymore so let’s just do it fresh let’s make our spinning Minecraft world and pause it right here now at this moment in time because you’re spinning you’re Actually moving in this direction in what’s known as the tangential Vector but because the ring or in this case rotating plane is constantly changing direction is going to be pulling you perpendicular to that tangential Vector creating a force in this direction that you will feel just like gravity with a Few odd exceptions that really are not worth getting into in this video essentially you are being pulled this way and it creates a sensation of a force acting like gravity neat so how fast would this big thing have to be moving in order to create the sensation of gravity well some of that Depends upon how far away the Minecraft plane is from the center of rotation for the sake of my sanity I’m going to make it the exact same distance as the Halo ring at 5 million meters because I can then do this neat trick with my five-year-old spreadsheet bam beautiful And it spits out exactly the right numbers oh I like this job I like it so according to my calculations this means that your tangential speed would be over 12.6 kilometers per second or 28.2 000 miles per hour and it would take 41 minutes for a Halo ring I mean I mean Minecraft rotational plane to complete one whole circuit and the best part is since the conservation of angular momentum never really seems to fail while it would take over 68.6 octillion joules of energy which would basically mean you’d have to shoot pool with our Moon like it was a Q on a table to get it moving but uh aside from that it would stay in rotation without many problems it might require some maintenance energy occasionally to keep it rotating but it’d be minuscule compared to strapping Rockets to the thing and sending it out into the ether And the best part is if you set a moon in orbit around this thing and threw it into orbit around the Sun as long as the orbit of the moon was correctly timed the sky would look exactly how it looks in in ah dang it the day night cycle okay Um uh how do I abuse this to make my life easier because right now the day night cycle according to our math is 40 minutes and it’s actually supposed to be 20 minutes oh I know what I can do I just make the tether shorter and move it Around circular more frequently I knew it wouldn’t be that simple okay so if we shorten our radius to 1.2 million meters we can actually slow our system down to only 6.3 kilometers per second or 14.1 000 miles per hour this might create some turbulent weather on the surface of The Minecraft Planet but it does tend to have pretty chaotic weather okay so instead of this it’s this whatever this actually lowers our energy requirements to 17.1 octillion joules all of this is possible because the object is actually rotating around the center faster and closer so it’s a trade-off in angular Velocity this will cause more circulation in the atmosphere in the form of the Coriolis effect and maybe a few tornadoes per day but uh hey it’s worth it it for our flat planet right with our perfect day night cycle maintained all you need is an impossible amount of energy to rival a moon Slamming into something at full speed impossibly strong walls around your flat world and an impossibly and I mean impossibly strong rope tied to an impossibly strong Center Point easy so let’s get started doing this right now and if you believe that the Nether and the end are both attached this really Only changes the energy requirements a tad not a big deal easy peasy let’s just push this thing a little harder when you start her up like a lawnmower engine there are you happy flat Minecraft earthers are you are you satisfied are you satisfied can I finally put this Topic to rest please I’m I’m I’m I’m begging you please please let me go sincerely Austin and I have to give a personal shout out to my patreon patrons who made this
