8-Bit Minecraft SMP :: EP: 1 A Time To Dig

Hello everyone welcome back cinder here and we’re playing on the 8-bit minecraft server and um doing a little bit of survival multiplayer i was getting ready to start recording an episode and we had some creeper explosions and i’m not going to clean that one up i’m

Not gonna clean this one up uh this one i had to clean up it’s kind of by the base entrance it’s whatever but um yeah i joined this server a while back and i was hesitating to do um any server play uh videos because

Most of the time when i do videos on a server it makes me a highly likely target for pranks and griefing and such and so i like to rather get established on a server before i start doing videos on it just to make sure i know the kind of

People that are on the server make sure that it’s going to be safe for me to do the kind of videos and stuff and so i think i have that here i made a small little bit of a base here we’ll come down here just kind of a little room that leads

Off to multiple branches most of which are used for different kinds of farms and storage and stuff like that mass farms so i have like potatoes carrots wheat pumpkins melons stuff like that down there i have a tree farm down there for collecting wood as

Well as all the trees up top that i replant mine shaft down there uh storage room my room smelting room but uh we’re not gonna focus too much on what we have already this was just kind of a start to get as established and i kind of move on to building bigger and

Greater things because this base is just kind of too small for me now um so i think we’re going to make a tunnel in this direction to see i’m debating on whether i want to go this way or whether i want to go this way so do i want to go

North or do i want to go south i kind of go ahead back up top really quick and check the types of biomes or in that direction just to see what kind of areas i’m going to be building in because this will be underground but it will affect things such as

Whether i can place snowmen or not and the color of the grass and stuff like that also affects how i’m going to be gathering my resources so i don’t think it’s going to make much of a difference because to the south is a covered forest and to the north is a

Well i guess the covered forest kind of ends and over there’s a little bit of a desert i think that’d be nice i haven’t done much in the north i came from the south so i think i’m going to head north yes north close there we go

And then we’re going to head north i don’t think i have anything built in this direction i’m going to run into with this tunnel but we will see shortly so let’s just i’m going to dig a tunnel out to a area where i think i’m going to want to start

My base and i will be back with you guys in just one second okay where are we now you might ask we are underwater and not much farther away from where we originally started yeah didn’t get very far at all i went maybe about five blocks and i hit that

Which means i’m going to have to kind of stair step down quite a few blocks so we avoid the ocean floor um just like i give you guys a progress update and let you know about that now i guess i’ll get back to work

Okay guys i’m back i did a little bit of work digging there got lots of cobblestone so let’s just drop that off really quick before i show you guys the results there we go and the iron gets put away okay now let me show you guys what i did so coming down here

Tunnels all the way this way i think a nice three by three tunnel is sufficient if we need to make it bigger than we will and i will also pretty it up in the future i’m not going to say when because i’m not because i don’t want to promise

You guys i’ll put it up this episode because i probably won’t so what i’m going to do here um i think i want to make a main room kind of like i did over there but bigger like i want everything in this base to be bigger and better and badder than

Everything that was over there so let’s see let’s get a guess of like what we want the dimensions to be and then i’ll work it out off camera but let’s see so maybe if we went i kind of want it to be like an arch ceiling

If you can get what i mean so well i guess so instead of the roof or the room being like square i kind of want it to be like arched like that like a nice pointy tall arch but let’s see how wide we want it

To be first of all because this is going to be the main room and all the hallways and stuff are going to lead off of that so see how many blocks out is this apologize for the darkness so one two three four five six seven eight nine

And then three so one two three are whoops one two three four five six seven eight and nine now that doesn’t seem that wide let’s go like three more let’s do that so one two three that’ll make the room six blocks wider i think that’ll be pretty good and then

Let’s see how high we can go so so if we go up five and then start to arch it from there so like what i mean by this is here let’s clear out a few more rows really quick on camera so you can just get a slice of like what

This is supposed to look like so let’s say i go to the middle here let’s clear out to the middle really quick i want to see if i’m also far enough underground if not then i’ll just build it and it’ll look like it’s uh it’ll look like we’re still below ground

But part of the base might be sticking up above ground i’ll have to terraform to cover that that’s fine i can do that that’ll be really easy just got a couple more rows here there we go okay so i want this to be the highest point so what i’m going to do

Is start from the edge here okay so i want to make this maybe go up 1 2 um let’s go up a third one or no let’s go up three on this one okay and then maybe go up one two three uh maybe one more see i’m always so indecisive about these

Kinds of things there we go so two two one this room’s gonna be really tall oops gonna get some more blocks to go up get a torch down there we go and then maybe go up one one i’m gonna go up one more there let’s clear this area out below us into there

So let’s see that and that oops can’t reach oh i can okay let’s go up here so we have this and then should go up one two one two and then go up one more this is probably gonna be the surface pretty soon we’re probably gonna hit the surface but that’s all right

Let’s get another torch going i hopefully hopefully we’re not underwater still to be kind of frustrating okay and then go up so this was the center right here so this is gonna be the highest point um i’m not sure i guess that’s a good curve and then it’ll kind of flatten out

And be a little bit flatter in the center so let’s get back down to where we were get a perspective of how this is going to be whoops there we go okay so coming up the room is going to be that tall that’s a really tall room um let me do

Both sides and work out a couple blocks of it and i will be back with you guys and see if you like that or or if we want to make it any smaller hello guys welcome back a small progress report i’ve been doing a little bit of

Digging i think this would be a good length room here just showing you guys all the stuff i have to do which is quite unfortunate i mean it’s like ridiculously large but that’s the that’s what i’m going for for this base is unnecessarily large and i’m probably not going to use the space

But that’s fine that’s the goal so i think i’m going to take this part out here and we’ll only do like a couple of these layers that way we can get a size for how things are going to feel and not go all the way back yet

But before next episode i put up i will make significant progress on this if i don’t finish it entirely and then we will get started on the areas that will be branching off from so yeah just kind of want to dig in probably need to repair my pick soon but

Luckily i named it so it’s only like 39 levels to fix it so it’s not that bad so yeah i’m gonna try to finish digging this area out here this is like disgustingly boring and the funny thing is that i thought that this was the middle here it turns

Out that i was mistaken that the middle is actually three more blocks over this way and once you get up to here it turns out that that is kind of the ocean floor area here and so i ended up having to cobble and dirt fill it in and it was

Just bad it wasn’t good let’s come up to here i just want to kind of do a couple more of these uh outside pieces here so i can get a feel for the arch good the bottom of the arch is right here so let’s just do this small layer here together

And then we will do a couple bits to the ground just so we can stand in the space and see how open it seems and see if we uh like the like the curve of the arch or not if not we can always change that to our liking and

Yeah so once i do that i’ll be back okay guys back dug this part out to ground level so this is basically essentially one quarter of the size that the room will be there’s going to be another quarter there as well as the second or the third and the fourth

Quarter is over there and so i think i kind of like the curve i did have to lower it just slightly because we were hitting the surface and it was going to be the structure was going to end up being above water at the curve that we had so

Unfortunately that did not work out but i think um i’m going to draw it to a close here this might be the end of the episode i know it’s not a very long episode for our first episode but we did get a lot of work done with um

Picking the new area that we’re going to be in digging the tunnel and starting to dig that room over there there will be significant progress before next episode but before we close out i just want to show you guys how much earth we really did move the uh

This chest was basically empty if you saw the uh beginning of the episode so essentially we mined about a double chest of cobble we got quite a few stacks of gravel and um only found about a stack of iron though unfortunately and then quite a bit of dirt was mined

But um anyways i’m going to between this episode next possibly work on prettying up this tunnel as well as finishing digging out that room and then we work out what goes off of that room together next episode if you guys have any suggestions on what you would like me to build in the
