A New Chapter (Mage Quest | Part 1) [Minecraft FTB 1.7.10]

Good evening I am ODI fairness and welcome to mage quest this is the new feed the beast mod pack which is currently an alpha version and it is um completely magical focused mod pack so no tech your whatsoever not even tinkers construct not even not even anything nothing nothing except magic pure magic

All the magic there’s a lot of mods I’m familiar with something I’m not so it should be pretty cool let’s get going alright so we’re in a Plains biome here to start off with a nice wide-open area this is not a bad spot to just build a

Base if we want to decide to do that down the road here I don’t think we’re quite ready for that we’ll need a lot of tools a lot of resources and we got to get them manually because there’s no tinkers construct or anything like that

To give us improved tools we got to go with vanilla stuff until we can get some more magical ways of mining and that kind of thing but this is a 1.7 mod pack if you’re not familiar with it basically all kinds of magical mods built into it some classics like thaumcraft and blood

Magic and then some other ones that are brand new to me I like like boo Tanya and witchery which was around for 1.6 but I didn’t play with it much bow Tommy I think is a 1.7 exclusive I’m not completely certain on that it was pretty

New as far as I remember uh Chi 1.6 oh we got some taint over here oh we got a village – oh that’s actually a really good fine here because we can get started very very quickly with some resources from a village so let’s go

Take a look here quick and see what we can find in that village we’ll need a punch a couple trees here before we head over there they will need some wood – I do a lot of stuff here so we’ll need to get Oh probably about

Maybe 16 17 pieces of wood here just to get started and as you noticed my pack is gonna fill up with flowers here very quickly so we’ll want to get started boat on yeah pretty quick – so we can start using these flowers for things

It’s not it wouldn’t be a bad idea to do that to do that I think to start with though I think I’m gonna mostly focus on thaumcraft to start with that’s the one I’m most familiar with just to ease ourselves into this now this is still an

Alpha so in the beta version JD Kat says she’s going to be adding in the different quest using the hardcore quest manual the hardcore quest mode um and that will add in like new objectives maybe a little bit more instruction as far as how to get started

In things the nice part is that a lot of these mods have a lot of the books and stuff built into them Oh Tonya comes with a manual thumb craft of course has the thumb nomicon so yeah we can actually get started quite a bit just using the in-game stuff without

Relying on a quest to uh give us direction now hopefully hopefully hopefully they have many promises but we’ll be able to keep this world going forward into beta now they had said that alpha world shouldn’t be a too pricey you trip you two pressures about your alpha worlds because they could get

Erased when mod the mods update and stuff like that so we might have to restart this one beta comes out but we’ll play as much as we can until that point and see how far we can get and if it is fun and you guys are enjoying the

Bit lag you’re never got the village though actually he’s an eagle this chicken thinks is an eagle alright um I think all the chickens are Eagles in this mod pack actually somehow um three emeralds for a flint and steel that is not a good deal sir you can do better

Than that let’s see what these guys want trade with this guy is a wants leather pants for to emerald good lord man come on and nine cookies furred and emerald seriously you guys are uh asking for the world here pretty much we will not take

You up on any of those were there any bookcases in here does that be it super helpful oh man we got pretty unlucky as far as this village goes it’s very very small first of all um the only two buildings yeah it sucks and there’s no bookcases that is

Hoping for no chests whatsoever but we could find some food at least we can take these hay bales and turn them back into wheat and now we can get some bread here so we’ll get that going and we’ll have to go get our own iron that kind of

Thing and make our own books I guess which means we’ll need leather we’ll need um some some sugarcane I’m not seeing any here but this taint is a little bothersome there’s some right there I’m not going to grab that low because it’s tainted we don’t want tainted stuff we want the

Here the good stuff here are you trading for a zombie torso so this is from uh Polly sabi torso is from I want to say is it’s necromancy zombie torso from necromancy yeah I’m not too familiar with that mod that’s another one that’s clearly new to me so there’s a lot of

Things in here which I’m not familiar with whatsoever so it should be pretty cool to check them out if we get that far hopefully we get that far before the world needs to be reset for Bader’s and like that but I’m praying that it’s not going to happen so

We’ll see what happens here well I’ll bank on that we got three sugarcane that’ll make us some some paper only a bit more stuff here thus when we kill it you’ll need to keep exploring for right now until we can find some we’ll find some sheep it’d

Be great if we can find some sheep to get some wool so we can sleep in sleep through the nights is that our spawn we don’t want to stray too far from our spawn point because we don’t have a reset just yet in case we lose our stuff

Looks like there’s some wolves on the map that I’m seeing um so many so many Eagles and land all these all these chickens think three Eagles so like we can’t get any oh here’s a chicken oh good the chickens have a little red spot on their head and these are all Eagles

I’m guessing uh let’s see yeah okay so some of these chickens are Eagles in some of these chickens are chickens you kind of stick with the ones that are chickens if we want feathers we can just kill the Eagles but if we want food we got to kill the chickens the Eagles will

Just give us feathers and they actually have a little bit more health I think – maybe not I mean I’ll be along with that well we don’t want feathers right now we want some food and we want some leather so we can get some books and that kind

Of thing is one of the crucial components for a lot of different mods to get started with here is books Rose blush no that’s a 1.7 thing I think I’m not too familiar with the changes that were in 1.7 it was pretty recent so we’re catching up as far as the Maude

Bags go um catching up to 1.8 pretty pretty quickly here oh we got some Stoke oh he had some coal in here this would not be a bad cave as it started in actually it’s not that deep though doesn’t doesn’t do a lot of the mining for us which I would

Prefer uh let’s see if there’s anything else that goes – nope not pretty pretty boring um I’m not gonna worry about mine and that just yet we will want some coal here but hold off for a minute let’s get this squid here cuz squid ink is going

To be important for our scribing tools to get started a thaumcraft so we’ll get some ink here quick and then after that we just need some blasts alright and not alerting key down here hit him hit him quick we go there you go he’s under the ground here where you there we go

Three more Inc awesome I will need that for scribing tools for thaumcraft get started with that mod and then um we’ll also need actually we might be able to do it now we need paper we need scribing tools we’ll need a wand also we’ll need some iron we don’t need a wand right

Little Stig into this hole here will stake into the ground and start the mining away make a little hovel for ourselves down in here I will need some wood to get started as well to build a crafting table crafting bench and we’ll put that here we’ll make ourselves a shovel

I shall want pickaxe rather we need one more in one more uh wood there we go and we got a pickaxe alright cool so we’re on our way to stuff lots of stuff and we’ll need some food here too because I’m sure we’re hungry up we are

So we’ll take this wheat we gathered at the village which I mean it was a good find they have that village there at least we got some food out of the deal and there’s no hunger overhaul or anything like that in the mods in mod

Pack so far so we’ll be okay as far as food goes we won’t be worried about it too much it’s just normal vanilla minecraft mechanics there so I’m going to dig into this hole here it’s going to strip mining so it’s a can be very interesting if I find a cave or some

Like that I’ll let you know I’ll break back in but otherwise I’m just going to get some cobblestone here and we’ll see what happens for the rest of the night alright so I just dug in a straight line and eventually broke into a cave here so we’re gonna try to try to

Very deep we’re only at Y 48 right now so it’s not too great well we’ll find some hopefully we’ll find some iron though cuz iron is really what we need right now we don’t need a whole lot iron we just need a little bit to get started with thaumcraft

But we just need enough to get started so hopefully we can get in here and get out without incident spider wants to do some damage we got a a muscle from necromancy awesome so what I like to do in caves this is just a standard minecraft trick is I like to put torches

On the right side of the cave in and that way I know which way is direct which ways in which ways out it’s my little trick I’ve always used to uh make sure I don’t get lost in places now this I mean there’s so much good

Iron over there okay we have to get over that side of the the ravine here I think I’m gonna make a path across all there’s some shards down there we’ll need those two to get started in a thumb craft so we’ll grab those as well and we’ll head

That way oh well we don’t go down there as well we got some right here and some coal awesome so now we’ll be set for a lot of things you’re almost fell down in there all right so let’s put a torch right here lights bad boy up maybe we’ll

Find some iron in here awesome we got some so we just need a couple they get started here on our path for wizardry I’ll grab oh I didn’t mind that oh well wasted it oh well I thought we could have mined it with a stone pickaxe but apparently not

Alright so we got three pieces iron awesome that’s all we’ll really need I think to get going here at the very basics for the very very basics now let’s find our way back across here and it’ll head back out to our furnace now that we’ve got oh there’s a little more

On here I’ll grab what I can here then I’ll head back out alright so we’ve made it back out and we can drop some stuff off in here drop this shards off in here for right now string will need swimming the mussel fright now can we use it for

Anything else what can we use this for I know uses on it so let’s to look into necromancy I don’t know what we’ll need to get started with that is there a book for necromancy possibly you bro Necronomicon of course and it requires a lot of different stuff we’ll need a lot

Of leather a book jar of blood good lord there’s a lot of stuff we’ll need for that okay so we’ll need to get started that eventually here but we’ll make that book and then we’ll start down that road eventually for now we’re going to cook up this iron and we’ll have smorc extra

Charcoal here we have some coal in here to cook us iron up we got seven pieces of iron which will make us at least at least another of wand I would love if we could get a piece of leather here now I wonder if there’s a recipe for leather

In this or not see leather just blood magic we can make leather with some zombie brains and or this is probably right in flesh actually it’s called zombie brains this modpack I think I got this map back but this resource pack calls it zombie brains but I think this

Is rotten flesh um unless it’s the mod pack that does that – I don’t know I don’t think there’s any there’s no other way to make leather so we do need to find some cows here at some point and looking at the map I’m not seeing anything let’s uh let’s leave some

Torches here so we know where our little hovel here is because I’m Elise with stuff in here I can’t take it with me we got some iron though we so we can actually make a wand now which can get us started on this so what we’ll do here

We’ll make them want to start with here we’ll start down the thaumcraft path here only to do is make the iron cap like that well then make another iron cap like so and then we put one on each end and we got our very first iron cap

Wand how about that okay so we are a magician now I have a wand and now I can start collecting V is it V or visit on how you pronounce it but we’re gonna collect some of that as we go here and we’ll get it from killing mobs we’ll get

It from finding nodes to draw it from and should be pretty cool is there anything else we can make right now I don’t think so we have those two shards we need some glass in order to continue down that road which is something problems I do next time or we can

Ascribe find some glass right now I think there’s a river over here let’s head this river over here and we’ll get some glass from that we’ll get some sand here helpfully and we can make some glass to progress further into a thaumcraft then so let’s see if there’s

Anything it’s awfully there’s Santa the botanist yes there it is cool most rivers have sand I think so we’ll grab a little bit of this grabs on the surface because we easier to mine I don’t need to mine with my my wand but I can if I want to

I’m just use my hands models use a wand right and oh there’s a nice little hollowed-out cave here that’s not too bad and not to be I don’t I don’t like it um is there any house around here really if we could really use some cows no nothing nothing no such luck we

Really need leather man it’s gonna be tough it’s gonna be top that’s gonna be the one thing holding us back we can find another village though it looks like there’s one on the map here I think okay so let’s let’s head to it let’s head to that village I think it’s on the

Map here if we head north we should find it hopefully that’s not if we leave a marker let’s leave a marker here if we can let’s see where did I come from I came from over here down this little valley here so we can find our little

Base here again our little mining area well this will be very very temporary obviously this is just to get a few resources to get going here and we’ll look at this all taken care of here shortly we’ll get it moved over to a proper home eventually now let’s see if

Paint around it though and this one doesn’t seem to as far as I can see right now so we’ll head up north here so it looks like it looks like I can’t really tell but it looks like some type of structure on the map there you’ll see

We can see there’s really we need books or leather of some type to go on here what’s it going to be it’s something wooden here no not a village though it’s at a witch house now that’s too big to be a witch house is it gonna be oh well

Though maybe we can keep it as our own that’s not a bad house should we move our stuff over whit I think that might not be a bad idea so I’ll tell you what I think I’ll wrap it up here for a very first episode we got our wand at least

So we’re ready to progress into thumb thumb craft a little bit here we got a few basic materials but what we’re going to do between episodes here is we’re going to move our stuff from the hovel over here to this little home here and I will live inside of that for the time
