Abandoned Mineshaft at SPAWN! | Minecraft Guide Episode 12 (Minecraft 1.15.1 Lets Play)

Hey everyone how’s it going – to meet your boy waddles and welcome back to the Minecraft guide episode number 12 we meet again over by the enchanting tree we’re gonna start today’s episode off with a little bit of enchanting again in between episodes I’ve been using our

Brand new hostile mob farm that’s way over there we can’t see it and then I’ve actually been breeding the cows up a little bit I haven’t mentioned quite yet but early game breeding moms for food is also a pretty good source of experience so today the plan is to enchant us or

Novalee we get something decent a sharpness three that’s kind of scary-looking a oh wow yeah the luck ends here today so so far we’ve gotten pretty good pretty good actually pretty bad and again not that good oh man ardan breaking three sharpness three knocked back – I honestly will probably end up scrapping

The sword I am NOT a big fan of knocked back always but today we’re gonna have to go with it it’s not the end of the world at least it’s got sharp nursery that’ll help us take out some of the enemies a little quicker now today a few

Episodes back we were caving when we were caving we came across an abandoned mineshaft today the plan is to head over to that abandoned mineshaft and check it out hopefully we’ll come out of the thing knowing where some spawners are or at the least with some decent loot hopefully fingers crossed so abandoned

Mine shafts or structures that will generate within your Minecraft world these structures generate under the ground in every biome and on the surface in battle ends biomes Badlands underground mine shafts are a little different in the sense that they spawn a lot of gold now I like to think of

Underground mine shafts as pretty much organized cave systems our underground mine shaft that boy is right down there so we need to wait down there the way down well I that would be pretty straightforward cleaning simply we’re gonna take a staircase right next to the ravine and go down there and check it

Out right you know it doesn’t need much more explanation now if you could remember we’re planning on turning this whole Plains biome the the whole biome up there into our base that means this ravine will kind of be in the way I was thinking about maybe incorporating

The ravine into the base somehow maybe like a city in the ravine that could be really cool but I’m not too sure it’s really all just an idea at this point well we’ll see if that concept actually goes anywhere but underground mine shafts so they’ll generate pretty much

Anywhere in your world and in all honesty they’re not all that rare they’re kind of common so staircase check now our mine shaft right over here the first thing that you should do before exploring any underground mine shaft is mark where you came in heavily like make it really really obvious so

That could be just a bunch of torches that could be like a cobblestone block or something just anything to make it really oh that sounds bad hey that is bad hey just do something to make it obvious as to where you came in so you can actually find the exit

Because if you’ve never been inside of one of these things they’re basically giant mazes and you can get lost in a maze pretty easily so entrance marks check we shouldn’t have a problem finding it in all honesty because of the daylight that makes it really really obvious now exploring these things while

Exploring an underground mine chapter I always recommend lighting it up because yeah these are yeah hey some loot but these are big giant mazes and there’s lots of corners a mob some spun around the corners and surprised you like the creeper already tried to so yeah

Lighting it up makes it a whole lot safer now inside of an underground mine shaft you should be looking for three different things thing number one the loot always look for the loot you definitely want the loot thing number two the rail said they’re pretty good for setting up mass transportation

Systems and then thing number three the spawners underground mine shafts actually have unique spawners that we’ll talk about once we find one I’m sure we’ll find one in here but the loot so what do we get hey a nametag that’s pretty cool now in all honesty the loot inside of the

Underground mineshaft loot chests is not really the best in my opinion the best things that you can find our diamonds pumpkin or melon seeds if you don’t have any quite yet golden apples and chain two books and nametags but other than that most of it is kind of random junk I

Mean the torches definitely help with lighting this thing up but yeah they’re just they’re not that interesting to find now dead okay so in an underground mine shaft there will probably be a lot of dead ends I recommend when you find a dead end marking that hallway off some house so I

Think what we’ll do today is just do a cross across the hallway and mark it like that and that means that that branch of the mine is done there’s nothing to see down there over here ayyyy more lava because of course and then iron we’re gonna definitely try and

Take the ores out of this thing but I think I’ll probably focus more so on exploring the structure and then mining could be done like on stream I really liked how that actually worked out now inside of an underground mine shaft cobwebs will generate cobwebs are really really nice for decorating especially if

You’re trying to make some kind of rustic or old looking build maybe an abandoned church or something then I cobwebs might come in handy so I definitely recommend taking the cobwebs from these structures as well you need shears to harvest them otherwise string will drop cobwebs cannot be crafted too

So if you find them and you want them maybe now or maybe later you should probably take them so I think this whole side of this mineshaft is done I’m not gonna mark it off because it’s pretty obvious I can’t remember what’s over there it’s a small dead end that means

We should go down one of these dark corridors now underground mine shafts have a few different pieces to their generation piece number one is the corridor the corridor is something like this hallway right here there are 3×3 hallways with these wooden support beams and then usually rails on the bottom and

Cobwebs on the ceiling these corridors get really really long and can get really confusing too because they all kind of just look the same so yeah that’s where the whole marking these things off in some way comes in handy when different corridors meet you’ll see an intersection intersections to look

Like this but usually with 1/4 wood beam as well I don’t know why this one is missing now intersections can be multiple stories there could be another story up there if this were to generate up that way but it doesn’t we can see that it doesn’t because there’s a

Ceiling there there is also staircases and underground mine shafts they move you up and down in between levels pretty straightforward you know what a staircase is and then finally there is the starting point the starting point room is really distinct it is the most unique thing out of any abandoned mineshaft the

Starting room is the room that basically has a bunch of dirt on the floor it’s usually a giant square or rectangle actually mine chefs start by generating off of that room a little fun fact for you another fun fact add to the starting room the starting room will never be in

The chunk that has zero zero in a world this is just our generation works kind of a weird thing but that is the case now the coal I brought my so touch pickaxe and I don’t have anything to break the coal with so what we’re gonna

Do is take some of it for now will so touch it and just bring it back to our base and then oh hey gold I like the gold but will so touch to this stuff and bring it back to our base and then later once we get a fortune pickaxe will do a

Fortune hole and place all the coal down break it and hopefully get like a million coal that would be really cool I was gonna make a coal pun but I decided that wouldn’t be that that would be cold hey okay oh right so back at the crossroads let’s go this way the rails

Are definitely going to be mine today because I mean hey maybe you want to link the mob farm that you built up to your base and rails could be really handy for that so yeah maybe hinting of something maybe maybe not I don’t know but either way I like to take the rails

From these things unless my inventory gets clogged if I end up filling up my inventory usually I start skipping the rails because I mean the rails are kind of the least important thing in a way like I’d rather have room for ores and and maybe even diamonds if we find some

Again remember you can find diamonds in the loot chests but let’s keep going this way so no spawner quite yet but hopefully a hopefully that changes soon I’m really hoping for our cave spider spawner so we could maybe set up a spider farm soon that’s something that

We never really did in the last season and I mean we have the new mob farm which is great but sometimes spawner farms are a little bit more reliable for experience so and I could find one of those that would be really really good I’m sure we’ll find one inside of this

Place usually they are in these things but I don’t know just no luck quite yet so that Way’s done all of that way is done we’ll get the coal over here later and so that means this way we haven’t gone this way quite yet so what do we have over here the water

You are probably going to be a problem and do I hear a spider no but I see a creeper and oh yeah there’s a spider over there and I heard another one okay so this is where it gets potentially dangerous the long dark hallways with corners that’s kind of scary because

Mobs can hydrate around the corner or skeletons a can can kind of use the corners as obstacles to hide around and that gets scary not gonna lie Hey all right skeleton all right all right a you are gonna stay over there skeleton thank you water for helping me you got okay

The knock back sort is not doing it I really am not a big fan of knock back at all it makes it so difficult a hey shoot the creeper is skeleton this is perfect this is the perfect setup okay so if we get the skeleton to shoot the creeper

And kill it then we’ll get a music disc but we need the skeleton to not shoot the creeper into me skeleton go okay you know what we’re gonna do it like this I really would like the music discs so we’re gonna try and make this happen

Okay if we go over here the skeleton should shoot towards me and hit the creeper who is standing in the way like yeah okay come on buddy you’re gonna have to aim better yeah like that let’s just do that a couple times it one more time skeleton come on

Yeah oh boy we got a music case hey we added me as a disc oh boy this is the first one in the world what we get 13 I think that’s a scary one the scary ones No Ward is my favorite one that’s right

But what do we have over here oh I see cobblestone that’s either oh and we have a second story okay we’re gonna have to be really careful let’s light some of this up I what’s over here an enchanted skeleton because of course cool and more mobs eh you know what we’re gonna do

We’re gonna go back this way and I go to this hall check out the loot what do we got a name tag again name tags are cool we’re gonna take all that thank you very much but big problem our inventory has filled so what do we do then well pretty

Obvious we just go back to the entrance and set up a checkpoint we’re gonna take some of the chests that we’ve found already and basically just throw them on the ground and for good measure we might as well sleep – hey you know what we’re gonna cancel that we’re not

Gonna sleep because if we explore this thing in nighttime mob spawns are actually split between the mineshaft and the cave systems and the surface which should mean in theory less hostile mobs for us to worry about down here which is something that I really like the sounds

Of so yeah we’re gonna keep it nighttime and deal with the mobs on the surface later now I what do we got over here we got a big open area okay I think we’re moving away from the spiders which is probably good and okay so this is what I just saw

A minute ago all right so we’re gonna take those stuff and grab some of the orbs from this hallway and the spiders are definitely above me I can hear them like loud and clear this is good good news because that means probably a spider spawner usually you can locate

Spider spawners within these things by listening for the spiders and then once you find them yeah you’re just gonna have to be really really careful again hey the dirt Oh a spotter right there hey that’s really good okay we’re gonna light this all up and we’re going to

Leave the cobwebs right there for now so cave spider spawners those generate within these mine shafts and sections that look like this usually the hallway is completely overrun with cobwebs often these hallways can be really long and build like all the way with cobwebs this one is pretty small but yeah that’s what

You’re looking for that’s really good I’m gonna have to remember these coordinates they’ll show it on camera and I’ll come back later remember there’s a seed reveal in episode 10 by the way if you walk to to play in the world but this this is the dirt room the

Starting room the mineshaft when it generated started from this room right here this is a special moment that we’re not gonna stay inside it for very long because probably bad guys and now what let’s go this way and I guess I guess we’ll keep going town now these are

Bridges bridges oh wow this is kind of a big cave system interesting we might have something to come back and explore on stream or something yeah but the bridge is so within a mineshaft the sometimes you’ll find a wooden floors that means you have a bridge somewhere usually a hoodoo I here

Okay it’s zombie very nice go away sir I’m not your friend sorry buddy if you didn’t get the memo you’re not cool so a a creeper – I really need to bow but the knock-back sword kind of sends things flying anyway so that’s kind of nice but yeah the bridges the

Floor will generate as a bridge when there isn’t floor below it but sometimes things can kind of be a little goofy I mean it looks like we have floor beneath there but over here yeah there’s technically floor there but a bridge generated anyways if you’re into exploring cave systems as well as mine

Shafts and you’re trying to find the cave system try breaking out the base of the bridge hey a ravine this world is filled with ravines we’re not gonna check out the ravine but we are gonna check out this cave we are at Y 16 maybe we’re gonna hit those blue shiny rocks

Hey okay that felt setup not these blue shiny rocks they’re cool and all but not the rocks I was talking about funny minecraft very very very funny you’re good either you’re cool and just lava over there so rip a but I guess we got some cold cold school too I guess not

Really compared to diamonds at all okay I have realized that we might have a small problem so we’re down here we’re doing well but I’ve ran out of coal now so I don’t think I have any other option other than to make an iron pickaxe and

Use it for coal mining only so that’s what we’re gonna try and do from here on out iron pickaxe for coal so we can obviously make more torches and then silk touch pickaxe I guess for everything else just because I well I guess why not now let’s go ahead and go

Down the staircase and see what’s down here this mineshaft is actually pretty big which is really really cool kind of now mine shafts can start to feel absolutely massive if more than one mineshaft generates right next to one you can tell if you have more than one

Mineshaft if you have more than one dirt room there should be a single dirt room in every single mineshaft no more no less the only one so if we can find the second one that means we’ve got you in my chaps but I’m thinking that this is

Still just the singular one I haven’t seen any kind of weird overlap quite yet but I guess we’ll see if the hallways seem to intersect in weird ways that could also be a sign of two separate mine shafts right next to each other mine shafts are a structure that are

Tied to your world seat meaning if you recreate your world with the exact same seed just a new world and if you found a mine chapter in your original world there will be a mineshaft in the exact same spot in the new world so I really don’t want to jinx anything

But so far so good we’ve actually been making really good progress and I think we’ve got a total of zero close calls so that’s sad that’s that’s that’s what I like to call a good day now this branch definitely yeah this goes right over to where I’ve been but I will take the

Rails I haven’t been upstairs then hey another my are you spawner that’s what it’s called another spotter and it looks like there’s a hallway cutting off of it but do I care about the hallway eh probably not today so what I’m gonna do is I’m gonna leave a spawner here and

Again mark the coordinates down and then we’ll come back to this later and check it out because will 100% be coming back to this area to make a smarter farm out of one of the spotters so I once we do that we can finish checking out the

Mineshaft but a random dead end eh or at least what I think will probably be a random dead end I’ll skip that for now now this area this is a really weird room that kind of gives me creepy vibes because of the cave cutting through so I

Think what we’re gonna do is we’re gonna go this way and try and light things up nice and easily and then we really need to find cold somewhere because oh wait you’re right there perfect thank you minecraft because yeah we’re kind of out of the stuff I don’t really want to

Place the other coal doors down yeah I just I just wanted to do it this way it’s easier if you don’t like to bring wood with you well caving for some reason well why you’re crazy but also my chaps are really hey hey hey no no no no

No we’re not doing that skeleton not cool my chops are really good because there’s what everywhere and you can pretty much just keep holding the wood up off of the floor or off of the hallway support beams so that’s kind of nice but seriously don’t go into the

Caves without bringing extra wood if you do you’re kind of a will say crazy so yeah just just don’t forget the wood now that goes down to where I’ve been I can see the obsidian and this is somewhere where I haven’t been so we’ll check this out let’s pass the lava Oh

Wow more of the the place okay so we’re gonna go that way in a minute eh-oh or we can go this way that looks like it connects so Cole we’ll come back I promise maybe and then over this ways I see zombies down there a zombie I think this connects to the other

Hallway hey buddy where did you come from did you come from the other Hall and you move this a minecart with the chat so maybe that was the water maybe the water did that Oh yep yep okay we’re stuck in a cobweb we’re just gonna be

Pushed at the creeper hey this is fine this is okay enchanted book though what do we got do we maybe we got a really good one that’ll be sweet if we do have that but I got to make sure this is safe first a is that okay that’s another

Creeper you get away get away go over there creeper not next to the lava no there’s more loot over there – that’s really nice but yeah the lava is that’s kind of a problem we’re just gonna cut that off right now what do we got and change the both crosswalker –

Wow a treasure enchantment that’s sweet frost Walker – is a really cool enchantment if you have frost walk or two on your boots or frost Walker one for that matter ice will be oh that could have been bad but we’re good ice will be formed on any water that you

Walk across which is pretty cool in my opinion now what do we have over here a melon seeds actually hey the melon seeds those are good we’re gonna take all of this stuff and then have a full inventory grant you can say and say you can say I

Guess cobblestone – you don’t have to come with me and what else do I not want oh man uh well I guess it’s just an iron pickaxe in a minecart we could drop the stone I don’t really need the stone or you know what no no no

Doubt we can drop the string that’s stuff you will say they’re sorry eh or you know what we’ll do you know what you know what I’m always all over the place we’re gonna do this we’re gonna place a chest right here facing that way so I can see it from the

Hallway and we’ll put the stuff that we don’t really need inside of the chest will keep you with me you can go over there and that should be good it is so we don’t do spawn stuff we can come back for it later we readied it so I’m really starting to

Get coal in the inventory so we’re gonna need to find our entrance chest and drop things off if we find another loot chest it’ll be cool but we won’t have very much room that’s not something that I really like oh I see a bunch of cobwebs up there we

Definitely haven’t looked at spawner there oh for sure and an enchanted skeleton yeah no no you can you will check that guy out later and I think it just took out the spider completely that’s kind of kind of scary if I’m being honest have I

Gone this way yes I have okay I got a mark this whole thing off you know what I’m I’m going torch in the offhand yeah I’m gonna try it out I don’t usually do it because I started playing minecraft before it was a thing and so I never

Really you know took advantage of it you go away hey what do we have just a spider down there a maybe more I don’t know as yeah you guys aren’t scary we got to make sure this is all nice and bright because I saw a there a cave

System which could be really dangerous we definitely need somewhere that’s kind of safe that we can run to if I okay i hear the spider coming hey that’s that freaked me out too much lookee here buddy I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry it’s nothing personal would have done it to

Anyone I’m sorry spiders you just not my friend okay so what’s up here so this is I think it literally just decayed we’re not caving today we’re trying to say in the abandoned mineshaft especially when I have a full inventory so we’re gonna just go ahead and skip the cave and

We’ll come back I just want to make sure it’s kind of lit up a little bit so it’s safe you know so I don’t have guests visiting me oh wow this gets really big this place is huge oh hey there’s the dirt room actually this is really good the dirt room means

We’re close to where we came from it’s really close actually so we’re gonna go ahead and grab some ores and drop everything off and then head back over here and finish this mine shaft off so that’s perfect Wow nice sweet I wonder if I could actually shortcut and go that way a

Maybe maybe I could because I’ve definitely gone from down there e where does this okay no that’s the wrong way oh we’re funny you think you’re funny skeleton yeah you think you’re funny huh yeah well yeah it wasn’t a funny joke buddy you’re gone you’re gone not even a thing yeah

Stood in the way of my my path but I’m hearing a witch now and witches are they they’re dangerous because they throw potions and then heal themselves and poison you and then if there’s other mobs nearby it can get really bad so we’re just gonna have to be careful when

We head back over there but what I’m going to do to make this hallway really obvious so I know that this is the way is make sure it’s really flat and cleared and open because this is the path that I need to take to explore the rest of the mineshaft

I think we’ve checked out almost everything over this way so oh well I guess so it’s gonna be really obvious I think I kind of know how to get back there another random mineshaft fun fact I’ve got for you is that mine shaft generate before ores generate in your

World so usually if I’m right mine shafts won’t cut off random or chunks or chunks will generate alongside the mine shafts and sometimes I’ll end up being small because of the mine shaft but yeah and now what can you do with this information ain’t nothing it’s useless information

But you can have it if for free for me so I treasure it for always and and probably do absolutely nothing with it but now you know which is nice and rip shears so time for new shears let’s take a look light that up light

This up and we’ve got more so what I think I’m gonna do to speed the rest of this up is sort of just run around and check this thing out I’ll probably time-lapse it a little bit but for the most part I think we’ve cleared most of

This place hey if anything crazy happens I’ll be sure to let you guys know a but amount of coal and there’s more over here very nice Oh right so a little bit of time later and we are back in the safety of our own home so guys I’d say that was a pretty good run zero deaths at all pretty much zero close calls and I actually was poisoned only one time now before we

Show off the the loot here I’d like to talk about what you should you when you get poisoned since I was poisoned during the time lapse I figured we just talked about this right here right now because it’s honestly pretty straightforward if you happen to get poisoned by a cave

Spider first if possible get rid of the cave spider after that you should back up and wait now poisoning won’t actually end up killing you it’ll bring you down to a half harp though being brought down to a half heart by an effect that is clearly insanely dangerous so I always

Recommend when you’re poisoned a just eat and make sure your hunger bar is full so you can actually start regen health and then wait just be patient wait out the poisoning it won’t last for very long and you’ll be good to go you can check how long your poisoning will

Last by going into your inventory closing the book and your effect will be right over here with the time amount but yeah poisonings not that bad just be smart about it be safe oh right so let’s take a look at the loot in terms of blocks here we go pretty boring yeah I

Know and then in terms of actual loot boom right here here we go we made out with a lot of stuff look at all of this coal that will have to fortune this is gonna be crazy and the iron – that’s a lot of iron the gold will be useful for

Things like powered rails – which is really nice we got quite a bit of rails and a couple mine carts which is nice too and then this one in change a book and this music disc these are big this summer aren’t I definitely want to try

And collect each and every music disc so that’s say that’s that’s a good step this is a step in the right direction overall a really really successful run and I think the whole mineshaft is now covered I got most of the orders from the thing and it should all be nice and
