Cherry Wood Build Hacks & Bamboo Build Ideas – Minecraft Trails & Tales Build Ideas – 1.20 Update

Hello there and welcome to 80 craft today I’m going to be running you through all of the new blocks and features that are coming in the 1.20 update along with some fantastic build ideas of how you can actually use these in the game so don’t go anywhere first

The blocks as part of 1.20 we have been very lucky that they have added not one but two new wood types to the game so we’ve got the cherry wood type there and this which technically isn’t a wood type but we have all of the bamboo blocks so

First of all we’ve got this green one which is the unstripped variant and then the stripped variant these are great because they are also directional so you can place these at any way that you want and you can get this surface which is the same as the top of the planks but

Going in any direction so you can go back and forth with this the planks are only one directional and then we’ve got this block here which is the tiled version and then stairs in both of these varieties alongside slabs we’ve got the fences which I absolutely love because

They’ve got this top part that really does look like some bamboo and then we’ve got some very very nice doors and trap doors going on here and we’ve got this sign a little bit different very very yellowy this wood type I would like them to maybe take it down a tone in the

Yellow but it is pretty good but we do have the new boat and chess boat which look much more like a raft so with these you can actually sit on them rather than in them so this is a cool new feature that they’ve got with these drafts

Specifically but they do just work like any other boat in the game so whilst the bamboo comes from crafting up bamboo that you can grow already in the game the next type is entirely new and we have the cherry wood this comes from these beautiful cherry blossom trees

That they’re adding to the game they’ve got these huge canopies and this lovely new leaf type here that drops these particles so it adds a real nice Ambience to the area and these grow with Spurs coming off to either side which means you can actually probably get

Quite a lot of wood from these trees but might make them quite difficult to farm in terms of the varieties you’ve got the standard a log and wood but they have this lovely purple bark on them so this which goes side to side a bit like the

Jungle wood is going to be really nice to use in builds alongside some of the terracottas for example then we’ve got the stripped varieties of both of these and these have got a lovely Rich pink before we go on to the planks and the stairs and slabs so these all fit in

With say a kind of a very cottagey a very pink aesthetic but ties in beautifully to this new tree and this new bio again we’ve got a lovely door that you can see through and a brilliant looking trapdoor as well a lot of use for this obviously we’ve got the boat

And the chess boat these are more traditional ones but again very very colorful and then as I mentioned we’ve got this leaf type so obviously you can see through this it’s got the elements of the green but mostly you can see these big pink petals and then we’ve got

Here the sapling itself if I can pick up the sapling there we go when you plant this it is the most beautiful sapling they’ve added to the game you can obviously put these into your plant pots and that is going to look lovely in any base we have as well these pink petals

Now you can place these one two three four a bit like uh C pickles or a bit like candles and they’re also directional so whatever the starting Direction you means that you can change the way that these will look and this will give you different options for how

Much coverage you have but these sit just above the ground and you can see they’ve got these little stems on them adds a lot of depth and a lot of character to an area so this is something that Minecraft has needed for a long time following on from that we’ve

Got the great new edition of these the hanging signs these come in all of the wood types including the new wood types here and they can be used in a number of ways they can either hang straight down if there is something that’s a full block above it or they can hang from

Something that comes to a point like a fence post or an iron bar or a chain you can also if you’ve got that full block you can take one of these and you can choose so if you just click Underneath It will hang down normally or you can

Shift click and it will hang from this point and when you choose to hang it from a point you can actually change the angle as well so there’s loads and loads of decorative options that that gives you what you can also do with these is hang them out from a full block like

This and that is going to be brilliant giving you an option to have signs on houses and shops and pubs and bars and whatever you wanted to use these for there are so so many options for these I think that people are going to have some

Real creative ways to use these in the future the next feature is these new bookcases so these allow us to put either Enchanted regular or book and quills into some of the slots here so you get to choose which slots you want to fill up which gives you loads and

Loads of decorative options these are also a redstone component so they will give a charge out the back and as you can see the different variations you’ve got six slots that you can put any of these different book types in at any point and when you click on that

Particular slot that’s what you get out as well so these will be brilliant both for decoration and if people wanted to do things like make Hidden walkways and hidden Pathways in places and my favorite thing about these is the look of these blocks on the back and on the

Top so this gives us another brilliant decorative block that we can use in some of our builds next we have the armor trims so these can be applied to any of the different armor types and they can use any of the blocks that have an Inger or a crystal form including this quartz

One down here so all of these blocks can be applied as a trim color it uses the smithing table to do this and you can get yourself a number of different smithing templates that you then use you use these in combination with the type of block that you want to use for the

Trim and you find these out in different places in the world now there’s lots of these I’m not going to go into it in this video but what I will do is link down a brilliant video by sliced lime in the description where he covers all of

The places where you can get hold of these different armor trims the one other thing that they are changing is this using the smithing template so they’ve completely changed the user interface for the smithing table you now need to use the smithing template to apply your netherrite to your tools as

Well so you can find these in the Nether and that allows you to take the netherrite and apply it to your tools and you can recreate these using diamonds as well so these have got different blocks that they look like they are on and you can copy these once

You’ve got one it’s quite expensive it takes seven diamonds a particular type of block so this one for example would be prismarine and then the template you put those into a crafting table and you get two back so using these is going to be quite an expensive feature but it

Does make your armor look much much better now we have this huge chunky boy sniffy the sniffer this is currently not available in the snapshots in the game itself unless you give yourself a spawn egg in Creative but these guys will wander around and as you can see they

Will sniff around and find themselves some of these torch seeds so not too much is known about these these obviously won the mob vote this year and people voted these in but you can see they will sniff around and then eventually they will flop onto their stomachs and dig up these torch seeds

These are a little bit different in terms of growing you can’t grow them on grass or Moss you actually need Farmland to grow these so this needs to be your way of getting it you can bone meal them however and when you do they go through

Their stages of growth and it gives you these torch flowers now these are absolutely great they’re called torch flowers sadly they don’t give out light I think me and probably everybody has said it would be so cool if these did give out a light level that would be a

Brilliant way to light up builds and give some atmosphere but these look really really cool and they’ve hinted that this is the first of the ancient mobs so I would expect potentially some more ancient mobs to be coming into the game at some point in the future and

Then we have these guys the camels so you can ride these they can Sprint and they can jump and they can actually hold two people a bit like a boat on their backs so these guys are great they will be found in the desert by desert Villages and another thing that will be

Turning up in the desert is actually this now this stuff here is suspicious sand this is what is going to be used as part of archeology so you can make yourself a brush which is basically like a pickaxe made with string and this gives you this brush and you can use it

To brush away at the suspicious sand it goes through various different sections when you find these in the game in desert Wells and desert temples it will give you some loot of some description including a chance to get hold of these Pottery shards these Pottery shards can

Be either put together in combination so for example using them like this to get a pot that has got that same design all the way around on each of the sides or you can mix and match these with the other designs or just some plain bricks to give you the plain pots themselves

And these are absolutely brilliant so you’ve got this the plain pot variant and then you can like I say mix and match these with the different designs before we look at the build ideas why don’t you drive on over and hit that like button and make sure you subscribe

As well so you don’t miss out on any future videos it really helps the channel to get shown to more people first we’re going to look at some flooring ideas so this is a pretty basic one just using some of these stripped and regular versions of the cherry wood

And just supplementing that with some of the Crimson just to make a little bit of the color difference these two work brilliantly together and yeah this would be a really nice floor design I’m moving on from that we are using the color of the bark and some of the nether brick

And again some of the Crimson wood but actually you can mix this with purple and some of these frog lights this one seems to be going in the wrong direction let’s just sort that out and yeah you get a really really nice darker looking pattern that you can mix in some of the

Lighting moving on to using some of the bamboo here using the green and the Pink as complementary colors you can get some quite striking designs coming through and the Moss as well works really well with this and then if you want something that’s just a bit more of a nice soft

Pattern we’ve got this which is actually the mycelium and we’re using this alongside the Rosewood so those two go really really well ask that Checker pattern going back to something darker we’ve got some of this the Terracotta which I as I mentioned earlier will just work so well with the outside bark of

This new cherry wood and then here we’ve got something again a bit different a bit softer some Festival tones bringing in some of this the white terracotta this time with the different rosewoods and also some End Stone and here just in the middle we’ve got that top piece the

Centerpiece from that bookshelf so that looks really really good then just something very very simple indeed going back and forth with these and these are the strip bamboo because they are directional you can place these back and forth like so and just have a little bit

Of a tatami mat look on the floor and you’ve got this kind of lovely pattern that goes on using the bamboo again you can use the top of this block for all of these bamboo holes and then have some green and even maybe throw in some melons and some lighting in the center

Another bamboo variant but again something a bit different this can work really well because of the complementary color nature of it with some of this the basil and the smooth basil as well um or or should I say the polished Basalt as well if you just use these

These make nice little transitions in between the two so yeah there’s some nice new ideas of what you can do in the flooring space next we’re going to be looking at some of the gradients so we’ve got this amethyst transition through the purple and the wood right

The way through to this the white terracotta up here and this is a really really nice one to go from a sort of dark to a light another dark to light is using this the Cherry logs at the bottom and then coming through the Crimson through some of the Terracotta up to

Finish in the pink for something a bit more ominous we can use the it alongside the nether brick here and bring it through nazarak through the mangrove wood and actually end up in Brick and then we’ve got this one’s a little bit more funky if you wanted shades of green

On a build or something to fade into the background and fit in with nature this would be for you and then something here much much more like a desert build so you’ve got at the bottom here your stripped Spruce logs coming through the mud bricks again using these the new

Bookshelves through some of the Birch planks and then into the two Sandstone variations to finish now looking at some of the walls here we’ve got a very simple fade just going through from the pink concrete to the the Cherry planks in behind and using these the new

Decorated pots and stacking those up and using the fact they don’t connect up with walls with this cherry wood surround it gives this lovely look of depth which changes as you move past so I really love this and you could use whatever colors you wanted in the

Background moving on to something a bit more futuristic we’ve got the purple blocks here with some amethyst and then using the pink here I love this kind of blotchy effect because it looks like what is underneath is kind of showing through on the walls but it gives a lot

Visual interest something more akin to a jungle you could use the bamboo here and then you could use one of the mossy variants on the inside so using the walls again to give you a bit of depth about keeping that overall aesthetic here we’ve got something that looks like

A patchwork so we’ve got these bamboo Mosaic blocks that look like they are being used to stitch together areas where the actual bamboo was started to break down and even though this is a flat surface it adds a lot of texture to it finally we’ve got this dark surround

Using the cherry wood and we’ve got the Nether Bricks as well and then some of the Crimson trap doors because the you’ve got this dark you could put anything light on the inside I’ve just used a simple fade through from the Crimson wood to some of the white um the

White terracotta here but yeah I really really love this pattern and this design as well now some of the specific designs we’ve got this lovely pink sofa that will look good in any Cottage core or just a cozy little living room scenario we’ve also got for the garden a

Brilliant little love seat so using some of the grindstones you can hang down this lovely pink seat and the look is completely finished off by these pink Petals on the floor they add so much to the overall design love it now looking at some of the bamboo stuff and bamboo

Here in this format looks great as garden furniture so I’m sure we’ve all seen this in the shops or around people’s houses this is a great way to use the bamboo Outdoors you can also use it indoors as a little sofa and one other thing to note is using the

Decorated pots as a base for things that would need some kind of a counterweight is great because it’s nice and chunky but connects up really really well to anything that you put on top of it now we’ve got a kind of tatami mat design by using a mosaic in the middle

You can kind of create some really nice Japanese style flooring and take that to the next level by having some beds on next to some slabs and that creates this kind of bedroll type look and on the theme of beds you can use these hanging signs to create some awesome four poster

Beds by connecting them up at the corners it just gives that element of extra depth and a more specific look of that four poster bed this is an interesting little lamp design using a glitch that I’ve seen some other people have noticed as well so it’s in the game

At the moment but probably won’t be for long if you take some blocks and create a little space like this and fill it with water you can’t actually water log these on their own normally but if you put one in the water like this and then

You can take the blocks away and it stays water locked so this is a glitch I do think they’ll probably fix this relatively soon because as soon as you break that part then it just water goes everywhere and it breaks the lamp design things so you can use that in your

Builds at the moment but don’t expect for it to be around for too long another little lamp design again using these as a base is brilliant so when you put something on top of it it will either merge into it or get overtaken by it so

If you’re using say a wall like this it’s a bigger footprint so you can have a nice fade going up and then another one just sitting there so you’ve got some light coming around the edges because again this isn’t a full block here’s another design using just a

Simple lamp you can use the copper but as you can see here it kind of Fades and mixes into this block itself the hitbox on this goes right the way down to the bottom there but the way that they’ve designed this it kind of covers it up

And I really really like that look you can also use that for funkier things like by putting a plant pot on top of this you can actually put a plant on it and it just looks like a really really big planter next is my favorite favorite

Use of these new pots and that is for an industrial perspective these look absolutely great as you can see with the Hoppers it kind of links the two blocks together beautifully and you can use these in combination with loads of other blocks like cauldrons and things like

That and these blast furnaces which are great in terms of an industrial look and the best best thing about them I think is for this industrial piping because it’s not a full block you can have these pipes that can go all over your base and they won’t connect to the walls as well

So they will look like they’re just brought out from the walls I would absolutely love it if they made it so these were directional and you could place them sideways on blocks like this very unlikely because of what they are and given that they’re pots but that

Would just add so much to the game in my view the final thing here is just this little dude using one of the pots and one of the faces on there you can just create a little robot and then I’ve just stuck a little lamp on his head a little

Bit of a variation on a eater I suppose onto some other ideas you can use the bamboo blocks the main ones ass cactuses so you can see here it adds an awful lot of life to a desert area particularly if you use some of these amethyst buds on

The side but I just love the look of these I wish the cactuses looked more like this in the game next I couldn’t resist with all of these lovely pink blocks in the game I had to make myself a pink Cadillac so this is a design that

I worked on and yeah this is just using all the new things like the wood here the logs here it’s a white walls higher and I’ve just used a couple of invisible item frames that are hidden there so that you can get the lights going a

Little bit big for the scale of a Steve but actually I think the overall look and aesthetic in a town would be great for this and last but very very much not least how could we go with these new blossom trees coming into the game and a bamboo wood type without mentioning how

It could be used for Japanese builds so this is a pagoda there is a tutorial for this on my channel already all I’ve done is I’ve switched up some of the blocks for these lovely new trap doors and doors because they fit the aesthetic so

Well and then when you put it in a little cherry blossom Grove with all of the particles with all of these flowers on the floor and with some bamboo and again some orchids that always look good in the Japanese aesthetic then it looks amazing and that is my main tip there is

Going to be a lot of scope and lots of beautiful Japanese builds coming off the back of the introduction of this update so that’s it for this video I hope you’ve enjoyed hit that like button and I’ll see you all next time
