Dad’s Guide – Automatic Tree Farm: Ep 3 – Minecraft Create Above and Beyond

Hello citizens of the internet and welcome to the dad’s guide to minecraft create above and beyond well in today’s episode we are going to start the next chapter in the guided walkthrough of uh getting to the moon and that of course is the high aspirations chapter one where we turn

All of these different things here into um our andesite machines automatically uh so each one of these is a different line that we’re going to have to build a machine to make uh first to make the kinetic mechanisms and then turn the kinetic mechanisms into the andesite machines but today

Today we are going to concentrate just on this little row right here and that is turning a tree farm that produces slabs and eventually we will marry this all with the automatic uh andesite production um down here we’ll turn the clay into an algal blend and then we’ll make andesite

And i think if we kill a jellyfish and cook it we get slime so let’s let’s see if we can do that can i kill this all right let’s see if we can get slime from this because if so this is easy there’s other ways that i’ll show you as well to get

Slime uh but um let’s see oh should i that’s not really cooking there uh i i have something i was gonna show you too and i’ll cut back to that in a second but let’s go in here we’ll use our good old furnace and uh throw this in here and

See if we can get as a waste of coal right there unfortunately but i’m doing pretty well in coal so let’s see do i get i got i got a slime ball awesome fantastic i actually need a couple of those uh so i’ll also show you this other thing that we can do

Um for those of you who’ve played create for a while you know that there’s a kind of a way to get slime without finding a slime to drop slime that makes sense and that is to mill some of our what am i doing there not there when you turn this on right there

Okay we’re gonna mill our wheat here and we’re gonna turn it into dough now that dough um that’s after of course we put it on our washing station there i’ll turn it into dough that dough when combined with lime dye will make slime so let’s go ahead and do that really quick

Here let’s do this we’ll throw that right there and then we can cook those up and that becomes bread which is fantastic too now we have some flowers here let’s throw them in here and um we should get a combination of uh a couple dyes here we’re definitely red we

Should get green maybe maybe lime uh but i have also some um let’s see what i got here uh did i get i didn’t get any one i didn’t get any i didn’t get any oh my oh no oh no um okay you know what i’m going no give

Me my seats back i am going to go and get some more flowers and see if we can get them to turn into a lime dye there we go uh finally we got some green dye man i was uh that was a lot look at that

Look at all that dye that i got and i got two green dye um jellyfish might be the easier route so anyhow anyhow so let’s go ahead and we’re going to turn this into a white dye right here it’s just very little bone meal and then

We got it with a green dye and that gives us lime dye two of them now we can come over here and grab our dough come back over here and we can put two dough down and then our two lime dye like that and that gives us slime balls so we are

Cooking with a gas right now i’m actually going to turn this all into slime balls because well up i gotta turn that back into white die because we’re going to use it so let’s go ahead and do that real quick here okay fantastic now what we’re going to do is we’re

Going to make some super glue as well so we’re going to need a couple iron nuggets a couple iron plates and um yep and i’m actually going to have to make some more iron plates because i forgot that i am using these for something else a little bit later so

Let’s go ahead and put two these down here just turn this on real quick oh first turn this off there we go one two three there we go that’s that’s plenty all right over here and then we make super glue is you make slime diagonal like this

And then an iron sheet and an iron nugget and you will get super glue and this we’re going to use later a little bit later to stick things together okay the next thing that we’re going to need today are mechanical belts and the recipe has changed significantly

Instead of just using dried kelp we have to use rubber and there’s a couple ways of getting rubber one is through an arboreal abstract extractor and you set this up with trees and you pull the resin out of the trees or you can crush flowers in a basin with water and that

Is what we’re going to do right now a little tip you can go around and look for flowers gather them that way or if you have too high flowers and you have bone meal you can just click these with bone meal and it’ll duplicate itself so it’s a renewable way of getting the

Flower materials for um getting the rubber so what we’re gonna need to do first is a couple things we’re gonna grab a bucket of water and come down here like that and then we are going to swap out the basin and the depot right here okay

And we’ll put the basin down like that put some water in like so and then we’re gonna throw the flowers in and it’s gonna take four of these per uh piece of rubber so we should get six pieces out of this right here um oh i need more water in there i was

Like that that was like a lot less than i thought it would be actually two less there you go okay there we are and we need to cook these so um this is my handy dandy little thing here i came up with you can turn off the water this is just a dispenser

On either side and there’s a bucket of water in this one a bucket of lava on this one and so you click the lava down and now we can use this to cook the rubber so we have nine pieces here let’s put them down like that alrighty and let’s wait for this to

Finish cooking there we go and then return this back you want to click that and then put the water down like that uh you want to make sure you suck the liquid back in first otherwise you get stone or cobblestone in there and no one wants that maybe

Obsidian i think maybe it was sitting in this way um all right now let’s go over here and it’s the same format so when you put like the six kelp previously down now it’s the six uh cured rubber and that gets you three mechanical belts so that’s good we’ll save these for later

We can um we can throw some more flowers in there once we get some more um bone meal uh to get some more flowers and that’ll be perfect and let’s go ahead and actually just go ahead and change these back right now as well okay so and

Kind of like what we what we end up doing at the beginning a lot of these episodes is going through a lot of recipes to show how we make things so i went ahead and made a bunch of these and site machines uh to begin with and the reason for that is

When you put anesthetic machines in a stone cutter you get a bunch of different options that you can get from the innocent machine in the stone cutter so we’re actually gonna need uh some funnels so we’re gonna grab eight funnels uh we’re gonna need a portable storage

Interface this makes two so we’ll grab one of those as well or two of those rather and that is it for right here for right now now the rest of the stuff that we’re gonna make we’re gonna need um our iron sheets our iron nuggets and lead

Um because we need to make some saw blades so put the the lead in the middle like this we put uh sheets in a star formation like that and then you put the nuggets on the outside like that and that gets you a saw blade so we’re actually gonna make

Uh six of these if i can i might have to make a little bit more let’s see can i do six here i can do six all right and we’ll do this down here too i’m missing some sheets all right um let me go ahead and make a couple more

Sheets really quick here now we can take the saw blades over to the um smithing table and we combine the saw blades with the andesite machines and that gives us mechanical saws all right where is the endocyte alloy there we go so we got the innocent alloy here and then we do

Three across the one on the bottom and it gets us a um a golden hand which we need for the deployers and we’re going to make four of or actually just three of these i think yeah just three okay cool that is all we need for that and then we

Take our hands over to the smithing table and do the same thing again we’ll put them in this little slot here um we take our andesite machines put it here and that gets us deployers like that okay so now we should have i think pretty much everything that we’re going to need for

Uh deploying the saplings cutting the sap links and then milling it um i am going to grab a couple of the uh chest that i have uh the saplings uh radial chassis and um a water wheel i yes definitely a water wheel for power i’ll just grab a bunch of stuff and then

We’re gonna go and we’ll build this up where i cleared some space for us to do this um anything i’m forgetting i don’t think so i think that’s pretty much it there was something i was forgetting because we don’t have brass yet we are going to need to make storage drawers and

To do those we’re going to need to grab some materials um we’ll need chests we’ll need zinc and this is where zinc comes in handy right off the bat for us in the game um so let’s come back over here and we’ll build this out here like this

So oh not there right here we’re going to do um zinc on either side like that we have a chest in the middle just like that and then we have planks and i don’t have any planks all right okay we’re gonna do this here we go there we are okay

We have planks at the top and the bottom like that we’ve got zinc on either side like that and then we’ve got a chest in the middle and that gets us an oak trim which is a storage drawer um that we can actually make into a storage drawer when

We put it into the stone cutter table here drop it in like that and here’s the different options we can make we make a single drawer and a four drawer so we’re actually gonna make a single drawer and we’re gonna make a four drawers so i’m gonna make another

One really quick oh actually i have them in my inventory so we’re gonna make a four drawer here too i did not realize more than one so there we go so we should have a single drawer and a four drawer and what this is going to do is it’s

Going to allow us to sort um the materials that are coming out of the tree farm uh without having a funnel and a filter so it’s kind of a workaround to not having brass in early game now i i cleared this whole area out here because i thought this would be kind of

A fun place to build our factory and this uh this ancient ruin here and um i think what we’ll do is we’ll bring everything towards the front but we’re going to put the endocyte alloy making process back here and this is where the tree farm is going to go

So the tree farm i’m have to reconfigure this a little quick here it’s going to be um let’s see five six seven eight nine it’s gonna be nine by nine total in size um so i’m gonna have to make sure the space is set up for it

And i’ll cut back when that is ready okay i’m done you wanna take a look at what i did look at that i think that blends in really well well not the dirt stairs up there that’s that’s just so i can get up to the top

But the idea is that we’re gonna make this all look like the ruins um this was what this whole thing was like a factory uh back here in this kind of um i don’t know gabro uh culture that had the gabbro bricks i just love that stone type it

Looks really cool and the good news is that’s pretty readily available and uh when we build our andasite uh farm down at bedrock one of the materials it makes is that cobblestone which we can turn into all those different types of bricks so uh yeah we’ll be able to build this

Thing up and make it look really awesome but now let’s go ahead and get into building the actual machine itself so we can get a tree farm going okay let’s just come down here really quick um i have a couple chests here this has a lot of the stuff that we’ll

Need for the build and then extra materials in here from uh this build i i stole some of the other structures that were over here just to try and complete some of this uh quickly uh but yeah here’s the interior we’re gonna put a water wheel right here

Um i should probably actually grab some glass first because i want to enclose this in glass i think i think it’ll look probably the best um yeah so let me go ahead and grab that really quick i totally forgot that and i’ll be right back okay and there we are

And i think if we just kind of enclose this here around like this and this is where the um the shaft will come out right here uh do i want to do this just yet i probably don’t want to put well i can’t yes i can totally do

This still right here like this yeah that way when i put it in and i put the water it’s it’s all good so let’s go ahead and grab that water wheel really quick here i brought an extra one just in case and a shaft will bring that one too

Um and oh don’t get the bucket of water need that too okay all right so we’ll go ahead and put this down right against here like that perfect and then we want to put the water against here but we want to have something blocking it back here as well

I forgot to do that so we’ll do that right there with glass i think that’ll look the best there we go uh because we want it to wrap around the exterior like this and the only one that is missing is this one right here which if we had a bubble

Column and another thing of water we could shoot that up there and and we get the full rotation but that looks pretty good um we may want to enclose the rest of this at some point but i think i think that’s good for now now we go ahead and put a shaft coming

Out right there and this will be the basis for turning all the different machines that we have so we’re going to be spinning uh something up here we’re going to be powering um the mechanical belts and the um the mechanical saws through here as well okay so the first thing we want to

Do is we’re going to take a think of vertical gearbox and uh we’ll put that down like this and so we can go up and across this way um so we’ll get our shafts here go up there and then another vertical gearbox right here like that

And we’ll do another one right here i believe so we’ll do this one like that and another vertical one like so and that’ll make it so we can uh power up there okay and that will bring power up to the top um so let’s go ahead and work on that

Right now just gonna get that all set up and i’ll show you how i have this arranged so you know what i don’t actually want power to this right now so let’s grab our wrench so i don’t want this spinning around while we’re working on it there we go um

I do want that vertical gearbox up there though so let’s do um let’s see put one there like that and one like that so temporarily it’s uh i forgot to bring some temporary blocks up there with me let’s go ahead and grab this one right here all right

And this way we don’t have to worry about it spinning around as we’re working on it so now we want the mechanical bearing and that is going to go right here like that facing up and then we’re going to take our radial chassis right here

And uh put that down like that now the mechanical bearing is pretty easy to make it’s like the windmill bearing you need a turntable and then you um just put a shaft and uh and side casing and it works out pretty easily um the all the recipes and this mod of

Course are in just enough items so it’s easy to look up now i want to have this start and terminate right here we’re going to do it vertically so the items will drop down through here when they’re done and the way that i have this set up is a

Little a little different so let’s go ahead and get our super glue on our offhand here and we’re going to want our let’s get everything that we’re going to use down into our hand here so we’ve got our deployers our uh portable storage interface we’ll get some chests down here too

And the idea is that we’re gonna extend this out here this is gonna have a portable um storage interface facing down and we’re gonna have three deployers in the back three saws in the front but they’re gonna be offset by one and i’ll show you why

So if we do our a deployer down here first like that oh not that direction though so we wanted to go the other direction was i crouching when i did that i might even crouch when i was doing that let’s see yep i was so when you crouch and push

Stuff down and create it it sends it the other direction i want it actually facing back this direction now let’s come over here and we’re going to do saws facing this way three of them in a row off of the side of this deployer so we’re going to do one there one there

And one there and then on the back of two of these right here we’re going to do the other two deployers like that and then on the back of this one we’re going to do a storage chest and meanwhile because the super glues in my off hand

I’m actually super gluing all of these on to the main area here and then right here we’re going to have the the interface but i think i’m going to have to do this from below so let’s go ahead and drop down here and point it down yep okay perfect

That’s exactly what we want now you don’t have to have a hole like this this will actually connect through solid blocks but i just did that for somewhat realism i guess is why i did that um never mind me but yeah this is this is basically it

This is the design that we’re gonna go with here so it’s the uh the deployer right here facing this direction and the reason why i do this one offset is if you don’t do this it only covers two blocks as it spins around this way it’ll cover these three blocks it’ll leave the

Center one open right here um with no saplings and these saws will be able to hit everything around this direction like that so uh that’s that’s why i did it that way um if i had more materials we would do something a little bit more complex but

That’s that’s good enough for now now we want to do is uh do i have saplings i do have saplings on me perfect perfect perfect so on the deployers they have these little filter boxes right here we’re gonna go ahead and we’re gonna just click on these with the oak saplings like that

And then we’re going to put a stack of oak saplings in each one of their hands to start off with so when we get this started what they’re going to do is it’s going to spin around and these guys are going to plant all these oak saplings down

Probably not all of them but a good majority of them that one right there okay perfect perfect then this right here will catch other oak saplings and replenish them as it goes around uh so that will work out well and before we turn this on i think what

We want to do is actually get the rest of this kind of set up too so we want to have the portable storage interface come down and connect so let’s go ahead and uh if i have any temporary blocks on me at all do you have some logs we’ll do that one

So put a oh and i super glued it always remember to take your super glue out you hear that squishy sound and you’re like ugh i did that wrong so actually You know what no i don’t want that like that and we’ll have to remove okay good okay i already removed it um oh no it’s right there it’s like i know there should be some super glue sometimes you have to hold it in your hand in order to be able to see where

The super glue is okay um we want this to be facing up so actually what we want to do is let’s just go ahead and put temporary block there and one right there and then we’re going to put this facing up like that so those two will connect

Okay now we’re going to have a hopper uh take this contents out of here and we can have a actually put it right on to a um one of the mechanical belts do i want to do that right now do i want that up this high

Actually i don’t think i want this up this high take this down again oh that’s good to know i know you can actually flip it around like that um just do it up like one like this okay that will still connect it can reach two apart from each other

And then what we’ll want to do is uh let’s go ahead and just put our temporary block there we’re gonna have the hopper go into that like that so what this is going to do is it’s going to drain into um a line of mechanical belts here

The reason why we do the hopper is because it it’ll store up items in the hopper where this right here if we put a funnel on the side of that it’ll just go ahead and push it straight out onto the belt and this will back up

And you won’t clear this item as fast so this gives us a little bit of a buffer here all right i think the trick is actually going to be to move this back one more from where we initially had it so we’ll do a vertical gearbox like this

And then we’ll bring this one up here and that gives us a little bit more space to play with uh if we have to change directions obviously as we get further in the mod pack this is going to be easier because there’s all sorts of things that we can use to change the

Direction of the rotational force so let’s go ahead and see if we’re that comes into this that’ll spin it the right direction which is around that way okay cool we’re not going to connect that just yet like i said before so now what we’re going to do is we’re going to do a

Horizontal one coming off like this and this gives us some options so this one is spinning the right direction for here uh now if we put a yeah i think if we do a um a gearbox i want to do a gearbox facing this way

Yeah i think so so we do a regular gearbox facing like that that’s going the right direction so we put this down right here and we can go ahead and put two more going this direction like that and that’ll be for the saws okay that is correct okay so let’s go ahead

And connect these with mechanical belts right here yep it’s going the wrong direction which is the right direction for saws for some reason uh don’t really get that be careful you will get cut if you get on those things like that okay that is correct so this is going to

Come off like this now let’s get this side working correctly so we have our shaft coming here and this one is correct so we’re going to have this one come like this one more out like that and that should be all we need actually and this gives us more space than we had

Before to uh use our sorting uh storage chest and stuff so we’ll go ahead and connect that like that all right that is moving correctly perfect perfect perfect okay so now what we want to do is i think this is good we’re going to get a ton of materials coming off of here

Let’s go ahead and um we may have to have a better storage solution here in the future but we have our two storage boxes we have our the 2×2 and the 1×1 um let’s put this on uh some dirt temporarily because we want this to be up a little bit higher so

We’ll do um one here and um one here like that you know actually thinking about this i don’t need to uh the setup that i had before was just slightly different than this but i think this will work just fine as is um we may want to actually have another

Line eventually come off of here so that’ll be fine but for right now let’s go ahead and just do the the four drawer here which is right there i’m gonna put it like this and we’re gonna put what’s gonna be sucked up into it um off of the conveyor belt so

Um we want apples we want sticks and we want saplings we’re gonna do um i think we’ll probably get more saplings than sticks um but we’re gonna go ahead and actually need another sapling um okay i’ll go up get it real quick okay so we’ll put both saplings down like that now every

Um other thing which is just the logs will come down here and it’ll get cut three times so let’s go ahead and take this out and this out for right now like i said we can expand this if we need to later on um look at that it’s cutting dirt interesting

Somehow it turned it into pod sold too apotheca interesting okay so on this side we’re going to put a funnel up like that okay oh uh oh oh no oh no that didn’t work the way i wanted it to this needs to actually be facing the other direction like that all right

Luckily it did not destroy those things uh i think the apple’s still there it is okay yeah um maybe put the funnel on first let that be a lesson put the funnel on first um and then you can make it face the right direction so basically you saw

I did that you just click on it and this little arrow up here is now facing towards the storage chest or right here on the side where it’s facing out before so let’s go ahead and put these items back where they were actually maybe just do sticks down here

All right i’ll do it like that okay now when it comes to here it’ll cut three times and what we want to do is we want to have um the recipe for the filter that we went through here so we don’t actually need it for the first two so it’ll

Automatically take a log the first thing it’ll do is strip the log and the next thing i’ll do is turn that log into planks no matter what you do that that’s what happens now this one if you just want a bunch of random items popping out of here just leave that one

Empty but we actually want to make sure that slabs come out so let’s see where do i have my slabs right here we’re going to put a slab down like that okay almost done almost done so now on this end we want to have a chest right here

Actually let’s do let’s do two chests because we’ll get a lot of these so we’ll do two next to each other like that and we’re also going to do a filter or a funnel going in this way uh remember we have to change it see how

The air is pointing out uh face it so the air is pointing into it like that pick these up here and then eventually what we want to do is we can go ahead and pull um items out of here and do other things and if we also want to

Expand this line and make other items like the antisight casings are just logs we can go ahead and pull them out as well uh we can pull more logs out here we can fill up an entire chest with logs first before it ever starts cutting this

If we wanted to do that uh so we always have a supply of logs which actually may not be a bad idea honestly so well you know what we’ll do this make sure it works first and then we’ll go ahead and put that in here and then i’ll let that

Fill up with logs first and then we can go ahead and uh allow it to make more of these so it looks a little weird right now uh but essentially what it is is just a step through it one more time uh the materials will be deposited right here this

Hopper will pop them onto the mechanical belts what we have selected in here so sticks saplings and apples will all get sucked into here the logs will continue down they’ll first be cut into uh strip logs planks and then the last one is the slabs which is what we’ll need eventually for the

Kinetic machines um and we’ll make the indesign alloy over here and we’ll meet in the middle here or right here and this will assemble uh the endocyte the kinetic machines right there so it should be as simple as connecting this last uh little shaft here so hopefully it works oh look at that

It always leaves one open here for some reason i’m not sure why but uh that’s fine come over here and watch this and make sure that it works actually it’s probably a better angle from over here um so we’ll just stay here for a second and watch this and

Make sure everything works properly okay and there was the first tree let’s go on and check to see how it all is working down here and there we see the logs come down they are being processed right now cut into um slabs right here into planks strip logs and then everything else

Should be being sucked up here we can see how that’s connecting so we should be getting a good amount of stuff coming into the hopper here just backed up while it’s doing the processing this may be the slowest part of the whole thing is getting stuff from here down the line

It may be something we want to do is maybe split the line and have two separate ones cutting at the same time so we don’t have a huge backlog but like i said i i do want to grab some of these logs off of here as well

Uh because i want to um have them for other items that we’re making so let me go ahead and now we see this is actually working come down here and see the finished products slabs i’m going to go ahead and set up this last little bit

Here suck that stuff in and i’ll let this run for a while until that fills up and that brings us to the end of today’s episode of create above and beyond the tree farm um if you’ve enjoyed what you’ve seen and like to see more from the dads guy
