Villager trading and minecraft is one of the most important parts of the game however it is quite complex but no worries because this is the ultimate minecraft 1.18 villager trading guide let’s check it out also very few of my viewers are actually subscribed to the channel so if you enjoy this content be Sure to subscribe and turn on notifications to never miss an upload in the future now the basic idea behind trading in minecraft is that you give the villagers an item and then they give you an emerald and then you give them an emerald and they give you an item so Every exchange includes an item so for instance we could buy four pumpkin pies for one emerald we give them this they give us that that’s kind of how it works so for instance if we gave them let’s say 14 beetroot they would give us one emerald you can see here that some of The prices have been made lower and that happens when you trade at the villager although sometimes they’ll also raise the prices if you buy all their stock out too many times and when we buy a thing from the villager or sell something to a villager we also get some Experience which is quite a nice added effect also something interesting is that villagers themselves actually heal when you trade with them in fact they’re given a regeneration effect so let’s say your villager’s been hurt by a zombie or something or let’s say it’s maybe been hurt by some fire some other means you Want to heal it to make sure it doesn’t die all you have to do is trade with it and give it a regeneration effect and it will completely heal your villager now villager is unemployed until it finds a job site a job site block as one of the Ones right here once it finds one that’s unclaimed by any other villagers it will use it as its own and turn itself into the corresponding job for that type so for instance a blast furnace turns a villager into an armorer now an armorer sells all different types of armor going From unenchanted iron armor all the way up to enchanted diamond armor that can have some of the best enchantments in the game next there is the smoker which turns a villager into a butcher that sells and buys all kinds of meaty food items next there is the cartography Table which of course turns a villager into a cartographer that can sell you different types of maps and also buys things like paper then there’s the brewing stand which turns a villager into a cleric which buys rotten flesh and gold and things like that and sells you redstone lapis lazuli bottles of Enchanting and other kind of special items like that there’s also the farmer which is made using the composter right here and the farmer buys and sells food related items that are not meat so something like let’s say carrots and potatoes and would sell you golden carrots and cake and maybe apples Then there is the barrel which gives you the fishermen which of course buys and sells fish related items or maybe something like coal that could of course cook the fish for it then there is the fletching table which is actually the only one of these blocks that does not Have an alternative use that gives you a fletcher which buys and sells things relating to bows and arrows next there is a leather worker made by placing down a cauldron as their job site and they buy and sell things of course relating to leather like for instance leather Pants or leather shirts or things like that in any single color you want of course they don’t sell every color you want but different villagers can sell every single type of leather armor that there is and also things like leather they will buy for one emerald then there Is a librarian made by placing down the lectern and they have some of the best trades in the entire game for instance mending books or maybe something not quite so good like let’s say curse of vanishing book for 27 emeralds they also buy things like bookshelves sometimes They’ll buy paper and they can sell a very op items like for instance name tags next we have the stone cutter which gives us a mason the mason will buy things like stone and clay balls and it’ll sell us things like bricks and glazed terracotta next there’s the loom Which is the job site block for the shepherd which buys and sells wool related items such as banners and it will also buy things like white wool next we have the smithing table which gives us the tool smith now they buy and sell tool-related items for instance they’ll sell things like stone shovels And axes but they can go all the way up to selling enchanted diamond tools for instance like an enchanted diamond pickaxe maybe even with silk touch or fortune so this is an amazing villager to have especially with lowered prices and last but not least we have the grindstone which gives us the Weaponsmith and the weaponsmith is very similar to the toolsmith except for it works with weapons so it’ll buy and sell weapon related items again from something like let’s say iron weapons all the way up to enchanted diamond weapons that can still have really good enchantments also the toolsmith can send Them sell hose and because the fletcher can sell crossbows and bows that are enchanted and things like that as some higher level trades you can basically get any single tool you want in the entire game even with a really good enchantment now let’s say we find a Villager with an amazing trade let’s say for instance that this trade for 25 potatoes for an emerald is amazing and we don’t want to lose it it’s the second you’ve done even one trade with the villager that villager is locked into its profession so you can even break its Tool station just like that and it will not just have its trade disappear for instance this one’s tree just disappeared when we broke its workstation but for this one because it has its trade locked in if we break this it will stay a farmer it just can’t restock its trades that’s actually how Villagers work so basically every single trade has a limit to how many times you can buy it let’s get ourselves some emeralds as an example right over here we’re going to try buying a large amount of the pumpkin pies here well eventually they’re going to run out of stock and You can see here that there is an x there and it cannot buy anymore no matter how much you try the reason why is the villager hasn’t worked again and needs to work to restock that trade now villagers work two to three times a day you can even sometimes very rarely get Up to four restocks in one day but usually about two or three so all you have to do is wait till it works at its station again to restock that trade and you’re good also as your villager does level up it has a different name and its Little button here will level up all the way from a stone button up to a diamond button with emerald being the second best for instance this is an expert which is the second best and the more leveled up it gets the more trades it unlocks with the later trades generally Being better than the earlier one for instance three melons for an emerald is an amazing deal also something you may not have known is that a villager will give you almost double the xp if it’s willing to breed when you trade with it which is quite an interesting mechanic So for instance if we bought these cookies here and was willing to breed then if that villager was not willing to breed now you know the different villager job sites and how to trade with them but what are the best trades that villagers offer to start off we have the Diamond armor trade from the armor now this trade gives you diamond armor in exchange for emeralds and of course you could eventually discount this down to only one emerald for a full enchanted diamond armor is insane especially since these enchantments can be not very good But could also get up to a very high level the next trade i would say which is incredibly good is gold for emeralds it’s a really good way of getting a lot of emeralds late game if you have a gold farm also rotten flesh for emeralds is Quite nice and the one of the best of all is a bottle of enchanting for emeralds because you get a renewable and really easy source of bottles of enchanting which makes let’s say selling them on a server or even just keeping them in your personal inventory an Amazing way to let’s say repair elytra or maybe even enchant things on the go next on the villager we have a bunch of different trades the first ones being pumpkin and melon trades these are so good because with only one zombification you can actually lower the price of These all the way down to one pumpkin or one melon for an emerald and i’ll get more into zombifying villagers in a bit here the other amazing trade is an emerald for three golden carrots or in this case four emeralds of course golden carrots are one of the best food sources In the game so getting them easily is quite nice even the suspicious dude trades are pretty good as those can also be one of the best food sources in the game believe it or not probably the best trade the farmer villager offers is four apples for an emerald because apples are Actually quite difficult to get in minecraft but getting four of them for one emerald is a great way of making yourself a large amount of golden apples without having to worry about chopping down about 2 000 trees but being able to get 4 for an emerald from the farmer Villager is a great way to avoid any issues surrounding getting those another trade i would say is one of the best trades in the game is emeralds for a saddle now saddles are something that are usually non-renewable i mean you could fish for them but that can take a Lot of time however with this trade for actually quite cheap price even without a discount only six emeralds there and maybe a couple more or less depending on how lucky you get you can get yourself a saddle quite easily and as these are usually found in dungeons is probably The best way to get this item next of course we have the librarian this has some of the best trades in the game for instance enchanted books for emeralds and we’ll go into a bit later how you can get whatever enchanted book you want also glass for emeralds is really good And name tag for emerald is an amazing trade as well because again name tags are an incredibly useful item in the game probably one of the most useful items and they’re usually very hard to find with this trade you can simply buy them and not have to go around trying to Find them in dungeons next for the stonemason we have the quartz pillar trades and the quartz block trades as well as 10 clay balls for an emerald and one emerald for 10 bricks and 20 stone for an emerald you can see i quite like the mason villager because for instance This trade early game is one of the best ways of getting yourself tons of emeralds this trade late game gives you infinite building blocks of bricks and also making flower pots if you want that as bricks are usually not the easiest item to get and this 20 stone for an Emerald trade can be discounted for one stone for an emerald which in my opinion is literally the best way to get emeralds in the entire game and of course these quartz pillar trades are great for building as well as quartz isn’t always that easy to get finally we Have the toolsmith which gives us these enchanted tool trades and of course you might need multiple of these to get all the tool trades that you want and some of these will even give you an unenchanted diamond hoe for an emerald but overall this is an amazing villager To have so you can get all your diamond tools without ever having to mine again and for the last trade that i think is one of the best in the game we have diamond weapons you can see here there is a diamond axe for emerald as well as A diamond sword this one even has looting one on it which isn’t too bad it’s amazing again to get every single type of enchanted diamond armor and weapon very simply through these different villagers and of course there’s many other trades that these villagers offer as well that i would Suggest you to take a look through and find your favorite trades that are offered so those are the best trades that villagers offer but how do you actually get all those trades for instance let’s say a mending book from a librarian how do you not end up with Something stupid like a curse of vanishing book well it’s amazingly simple and is one of the best parts of villager trading first of all place down your lectern in front of your villager you’ll notice it grabs a random enchanted book as its trade this can be Any of the enchanted books in the entire game except for soul speed now all you have to do if you don’t like to trade is to break this and replace it with something else if it’s in a capsule like this make sure there’s maybe a block in Front of it so it doesn’t run away so break this replace it and now let’s see what it got instead it got flame maybe you like that enchantment maybe you don’t let’s say you do want mending the trick is to break this and replace it as Many times as you need to until the random enchanted book is a mending book and of course the higher level trades it can also be books could give you mending as well what’s really cool is as long as you’re a little bit past sunrise or a little bit before sunset villagers will Almost instantly pick up the next trade and using this trick you could get yourself librarians for literally every single enchanted book in the entire game like for instance this awesome protection for a trade right here just be aware that if you want low prices on your mending trade you should make sure That the mending trade is no higher than 26 emeralds for mending because you can never get them to one emerald for a mending book unless the trade starts with at least 26 emeralds or lower as the initial trade but again you can use that to get mending or any other book You want by just simply breaking this and replacing it right in front of them and this does apply for every single other villager with every trade as well so as long as you can see the initial trades and let’s say something like a farmer those could change you can simply Break this and replace it as many times as you want in front of them until they get the trades that you want just be aware this does not work if you’ve already traded with them once because if you have their current trades are locked in permanently so now you know the Basics of how to trade with villagers and some of the best trades to look out for but how do you actually make a full villager trading setup well i have one right here and i’ll walk you through how to do it there’s three parts to it there is the villager breeder the villager Zombification station and the villager trading hall and i’ll only discuss the last two today as this villager breeder i actually made a separate tutorial on i occurred on the screen right now by the way on how to make that it’s a really good design something that i modified From an existing design i think overall it works quite well for making a nice little capsule to get you villagers have them mature and then from there send them off in minecarts to the rest of your system so how does this whole system work well we’re going to start by Getting ourselves a villager in a mine cart to be dispensed and then it will stick right there right next to this husk here that will kill it if it doesn’t kill it something you can do is you can try and push it a little bit closer and then it will kill that Villager and convert it into a zombie villager now once it’s been converted into a zombie villager we’ll get ourselves out a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple this is how you cure a zombie villager we’re gonna throw the splash potion of weakness at It then we’re gonna hit it with a golden apple right there and it’ll consume that and you can see it is curing and after about five minutes it will cure into a normal villager like these ones over here what i do now is i will send it Along its way to the next section first we’re going to send these ones along just by moving them along just like this in the system we’ll just push them this way so they all go over here into the rest of that there that’s something that’s really interesting here is that As the villagers are zombifying they actually are still fully aggressive so they can still hurt other villagers around them so it’s important to be careful about that now something that we’re going to do in this rest of the system is this villager here will now Wait and you can see here that’s kind of been stuck on the rails here and basically what’s going to happen and these of course would usually file away under there is this will sit here until it’s fully cured and then we’ll send it into the rest of the system Now basically what we have here is we have a trapdoor that’s keeping this husk in here so get the husk in here all you have to do is make some blocks up here just like this get the husk to go up here get it to fall in there then give It an item so it doesn’t despawn and of course you could also maybe name it but that’s a little bit more difficult so just give an item there make sure this trapdoor is here and as long as it’s flipped up there it will stay inside of There what the trick is to have the villager stop right here as if we turn this off you’ll notice that the power stops right there that’s because of how far away this is because this will power one two three four five six seven eight nine blocks this direction so the mine Cart will stop on the unpowered rail here then of course once the villager has been zombified we’ll turn this on and push it along its way basically what villager zombification does is once you’ve cured a villager its prices will be discounted for instance like this one right here and after the Initial discounts faded away which is often a bit higher than the final discount it’ll discount by five items on each trade so if a trade was only let’s say this one which is four items it’ll stay at only one emerald let’s say this one was 15 items it will eventually stay At 10 which is quite interesting there and basically you can continue that process up to five times you get it up to negative 25 items on the trade finally so for instance if you have a trade for a villager that you want to get to one emerald it can only be 26 Emeralds at the base or lower or you can never get it fully down to one emerald per trade permanently and so we have in the system here if you want to get that villager to zombify again is we can simply flick the lever here let it go Around here go over here be killed by the zombie right here convert into the zombie villager again and we just convert it in a circle the trick here as well and this is why it’s so wide is it with the mine curt here you can actually load up up to five zombie villagers Around here like this of course not with the power on the rails there but something like this they’ll all zombify and then they will be able to wait there and zombify here with only one splash potion of weakness instead of multiple let me just get rid of this minecart Mess first though anyway once our villagers have zombified they’ll go over here go this way slide along here with our powered rails and they’ll then go into the trading hall i’m just going to show you guys how to make this trading hall as it’s a little bit complicated But it’s certainly worth it compared to other trading hall designs all you have to do is place down blocks in a pattern like this sort of a zigzag shape just like this all the way along here then make each one of those too tall around here just like that and get yourself Some slabs of any type and put them on top of here we’re basically making which conversion proof tubes said the villagers can never be turned into witches and also they’re protected from the sunlight if they ever turned into zombies by accident and we’re going to Cover this up all the way just like this also as a quick little side note be sure when you’re zombifying your villager that it does not stay in the sun because it will burn to death also make sure to name your villagers if you want them not To despawn if you go far away because if your villagers are zombified and you go far away they’ll actually despawn so make sure that during this curing process you stay very very close to the villagers that they do not despawn as they’re zombies anyway to finish this What you do is you get yourself some warped fences put them along here just like this along there and also on the other side like that what this does is it stops the villagers from getting the wrong workstation so for instance this villager here could potentially look at this workstation instead of this Workstation right here and get that trade this block stops that we also have some torches we put on here occasionally to stop mobs spawning around the general area which protects our villagers even more and of course you’d probably want to put all this inside of a building Then we have these trapdoors here which basically go right in front of this here so they basically flip down in front of the villagers you can see here they go like that almost looks like they’re being imprisoned but the trick is basically what it does is it makes is That the villagers will not be killed by anything in a raid or by any zombies if you want to protect them so let’s say there is a raid going on all you have to do is go around here and flip all these down and that will stop the villagers From dying if there is a raid and just to finish this up we’ll just put a rail right along here like this that will slide into there and when we have these villagers go into here they kind of slide along here in fact we’ll show this right here you’ll notice that they slide Into here just like that once they slid in there we break this block we place down the workstation we want them to have we correct the rail just like this it gets the station and we’ll try with it once to lock in the trade and there we go you’ll actually notice it’s still In the mine cart and the rail is still down there what’s so cool about that is let’s say we want to zombify it more we simply replace the rail go into it just like this we just kind of walk right into where the villager is it’ll push it Out and it’ll go right back into the system back over here where we can zombify it again also be careful of any iron golem spawning killing your husk right here like this one did you might want to fence this off a little bit just so these stupid iron golems don’t kill Your husk but that is how you make the full trading farm design also as some little extras something interesting to note is you can actually mine emeralds to trade with villagers they do spawn quite frequently at the top of tall mountains also when a raid is triggered At a village by you walking into the village with the bad omen effect once you’ve defeated the raid the villagers will give you discounts on prices temporarily and will throw you random items which is quite cool and also if you get yourself an amazing villager which just has some great trades that You don’t want to miss out on all you have to do to protect it even more is actually to put a dispenser right next to it flick the lever on the dispenser and that will put armor on the villager you cannot see the armor is on it but The armor is applied to the villager there and then with let’s say the full diamond armor being applied it will have the added protection from that as well well i hope you enjoyed the minecraft 1.18 villager trading guide if you did make sure to press the
