So when it comes to building i’d say i’m pretty damn good however many people just aren’t recently i asked you guys on my community tab what you struggled with the most of building and today i’m going to go over the most highly requested topics house shape depth block variation interior roofs And most of all detail if you’re not good at building at all this video should help you out quite a bit and even if you are a good builder this video may teach you a few things so let’s get right into it starting with house shape the shape of your house is One of the most important steps it will literally determine how the rest of your house will look if you’re tired of building classic rectangles in square houses allow me to enlighten you what the tactic we in the building business like to call the box method or square Method if you want to be a nerd essentially it’s a way to create unique foundations without any effort you start with a box or a rectangle like this then connect and intersect other boxes into your original one like this break apart the middle and that’s it a completely New and unique shape to build your house from you may have seen me do this in my 100 days of hardcore quick tip with this is to not make the boxes too small i usually never go below 5×5 because then the inside of your home will become very Grand now continuing on we have depth depth is the distance from the top or surface to the bottom of something depth is not an easy thing to master many people will put too much or too little the goal is to find that perfect balance some methods can be the use of pillars Like this wall bring them for the block it creates an entirely new design or if you want to be fancy add some cracks to your wall using stairs even the flattest of designs can be turned into something epic the larger the build the deeper the depth should be On smaller builds it’s probably a good idea to not overdo it this is because with depth comes less room on the inside this entrance for example has three blocks of depth for the window alone so that would be two less blocks that i would have if i didn’t add any depths at All that would mean i would most likely make this room incredibly large to make up for how much room this wall takes up trading depth can be tricky but relying on the different shapes the game has to offer besides just squares is a great first step shut up phone for example trap doors Stairs glass panes the many different walls and you can even mess around with the weirdest looking shapes like cauldrons hoppers fences and fence gates all of these things can be used for depth since they aren’t full blocks learn your blocks and shut up phone holy crap now we move on to block variation Block variation is used to represent age the more modern your build is the less block variation you should use the thing i see most people do is use too many different colors with their variation these paths are a perfect example too much color variation is bad block variation block variation is all about Texture these last two paths are a good example of perfect block variation with the one on the right being nearly perfect in every way sometimes color variation is good in cases like these old run on cobblestone walls but you want to be careful these only work because the green actually represents Old age rather than a different type of block because it’s literally moss the best builders know what type of blocks work well with others for example these floors many of you may not have even noticed it or have seen this texture before but it is simply the bottom side Of a barrel and these sideways oak textures are actually the top of beehives black variation appears in many places it is used in trees with different types of leaves on roofs with similar color of blocks and of course walls walls of castles walls of towers walls of walls even the dead coral Blocks can look good here to get better at block variation be sure to remember that it’s about texture not color try your best not to vary the color too much and become more familiar with the blocks in the game i’m gonna literally say this every time learn your blocks now moving On to interior interior is the general term for anything inside your home a very common mistake is how people build their rooms i’m not talking about the shape i’m talking about the blocks you use don’t ever use the same block for the floor wall and ceiling and don’t Ever use the same block for just the floor and ceiling either use different blocks for all three it may take longer to collect different blocks in survival mode but who wants to look at this from this angle you’re legit living in the cardboard box if you’re in a room right Now take a moment to look at it unless you’re in a dormitory or a concrete bunker i’ll bet that your floor walls and ceiling are all different colors different blocks on floor can also separate rooms so don’t be afraid to mix up your blocks for decoration apply something anywhere that is too spacious Does that corner look too empty add a flower pot does that wall look bland painting does this carpet look too boring add some depth once again knowing your blocks is very important if you’re stuck for designs there’s absolutely nothing wrong with using google to help you out or or or tick-tock not everyone Can come up with designs from their own brain interior design is the most searched up topic for minecraft building even i still need tic toc’s help every now and then the next most searched up topic for building is roofing i cannot stress this enough when building a roof Remember the theme of your build if you’re building modern a completely flat roof like a gas station will suffice medieval minecraft builds typically have steep slopes but some tips for good roofs are to remember depth don’t build them against the wall like this have them come out a block or two you should Definitely build your roof after you have built the rest of your house so you know just how much depth to add roofs are actually quite hard to explain but if you’re struggling just do this simple a frame like this i find most people struggle with stair placement on roofs And how to get them to face the correct way if you want to be perfect f3 will tell you the direction you’re looking in degrees 45 and 135 are the center points where you are looking perfectly diagonally the stair will place according to where you look not to where You stand more advanced riffs like the top of watch towers and castles require perfect knowledge of stair placement after using f3 for a while you’ll be able to simply eyeball your placements without the use of degrees now the next major thing is detail detail encompasses many things bulk variation depth Exterior and interior decoration are all examples of detail however the best detail comes from your knowledge of the blocks at your disposal learn your minecraft blocks god damn it pawns can either look bland or absolutely incredible and trees can be turned into the most beautiful part of your world Honestly the best method i use for coming up with detail is by looking around at pictures of the actual world there are loads of pictures of details in buildings towns cities natural parks etc and it’s up to you with your knowledge of the blocks in the game to make these structures in minecraft Sorry if this video became a little bit too complicated i’m not that great at describing things but i think i kind of got the point across maybe anyways if you enjoyed this video make sure to hit that like button as i subscribe and all that good stuff make sure you are Subscribed if you think you already are youtube will sometimes glitch and unsubscribe you it’s happened to me before and yeah Video How to become a BETTER BUILDER in Minecraft…
So I decided that in between 100 and 200 days of my hardcore series, I would provide a video on how to get better a building in minecraft, going into detail on some building techniques to make your builds better like block variation, depth, detail, interior, etc.
If you guys like this kind of content where I share my knowledge of this little block game, let me know by leaving a like and stuff! I read all the comments I get while I’m still relatively small in the YouTube community, so leave me a comment as well!
