Hello everyone my name is Pixar IFS and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide I hope you guys are having a great day today I have finally finished up the storage house and it’s looking pretty great in here I still had to make a couple of strange concessions to my Usual design standards for the roof of the back here which yeah is not it’s not looking entirely the best thing I’ve ever built but it’s got space and it’s all closed in now which is the most important thing about this build the main thing being that there was a big Mountain back here and the fact that this extra section at the back here which underneath here contains the storage systems for all of our precious resources the diamonds emeralds gold and iron meant that we had to extend the back of this out here either that or we Had to bury it inside a mountain which I wasn’t too happy with so in the end we ended up with this and I think it’s looking pretty good I’ve also started working on the storage system up here and it’s not really an automated system in the slightest this is all manual Storage but we have lots of spaces here for chests where much like the room below we can have chests of resources here and then the stuff that you make out of those resources on the shelf above and here in the item frames we can put some of the stuff we plan to store Here I don’t exactly know what that’s going to be yet because I’m still in the process of working some of this out but around the corner here I figured we would have a nice little cubbyhole for her his marine stuff and here are a couple of examples of ways you can label Your storage you could for example put everything just labeled with the item frame the and the item in it so that you know exactly what that is just by looking at it that’s if you’re a little bit more familiar with the materials in Minecraft you’ll probably be able to Tell at a glance that this is a sealant and this is a prison marine sharda these are prison ring crystals and so forth alternatively item frames have this kind of wonderful thing where they can overlap with other objects that might otherwise knock them off the wall you Can’t put an entire block there or even a stair block or anything like that but you can put stuff like signs anything that counts as kind of like an entity but not a full sort of block style thing then you can use that in combination with an item frame and so through that I’ve been able to place signs and item frames on the same block so that I can write the name of the item here and then display it coming through the sign and you’ll notice that sticks out of the sign a little bit but not as much as it Would normally stick out of an eye too frame like soap the item frame is actually holding it the sign is taking up part of that width and then it’s pushing through the front there and we can still rotate it using the item frame by right-clicking on it like so but Obviously that obscures part of the word if we do it in certain angles and also I had to make sure that there was enough space on the top line of these signs to write the word because you can’t really fit the names of stuff around the Outside of here at all so this is not necessarily a system I plan to work with the entire time but I just thought it was interesting as an example to give you guys a bit of a an idea of what you could do with some of this now you’ll Notice that when I look in the pros Maureen chests I brought over a bunch of the dark prism ring but the other stuff is still over there at the ocean monument where it’ll probably stay for the most part but I’d actually like to use some of the dark prismarine for what We plan on doing today and today we’re gonna make good on my promise to remove the villages that I cured from the caves down here and bring them up to start a villager breeder you’ll notice there are still some other unfinished things around here like I’ve started on the Framework for the cobblestone generator building but that’s not really taking shape quite yet and I still need to put roofs on the melon and pumpkin farms but again that’s one of the things that I’ll probably do off-camera just kind of tinker with builds here and there while We’re working on big projects in the main series now down here if you’ll remember we have one villager who’s stuck in here and has skeletons are firing at me of course as they tend to do we unfortunately lost our other villager down here but this guy is still Going strong this Shepard up here is still alive and will probably extract him through minecart rails and stuff today I think that’s probably going to be the best way of doing things I have a little bit of stuff that I need to drop off back at the farmhouse First because I haven’t figured out a place for it in my storage system quite yet but we got to bring that villager up to the surface we are probably going to transport the villager from the cave over there up to the surface as well and then if we find another villager or we Can bring one back from a neighboring village we will start putting them inside a breeder and in this case these guys in the house I’m actually going to leave here because I like having them around I feel like now we’ve got them here it makes sense to leave them here for the Most part but we could always use one of them in a pinch if we needed to but I’m I’m not keen on moving them quite yet we will need some rails and some powered rails and some mine carts because today I’m actually going to show you how to move villages around Using minecarts which is usually a little bit faster than using boats which we’ve done in a previous episode but requires a lot more preparation I’ll probably also bring a boat with me so that if we need to bring one back from one of the villages around the world Then we can do that too of course before we move the villages at all one of the things we’ll want to do is figure out where these villages are going to go because it’s actually kind of difficult to contain villages they have a mind of their own when it comes to wandering Around and so forth and we want to make sure that they are safe from zombie attacks so I think it might be a good idea to set up some kind of holding cell before we actually get down to moving the villages at all and that means coming out here to our industrial area And building something new but we’re not going to be building this for five six seven eight nine there we go we’re not gonna be building this on top of the gravel here we’re gonna be building it on stilts instead and the main reason for that is that I can’t really be Bothered clearing out all of the gravel but there’s also another reason and that’s that it makes it harder for zombies to attack these villagers they’re zombies might be able to gather underneath here and look up at the villagers in this kind of breeding area that we’re going to create but they’re Not going to be able to attack the villagers anyway and that’s the main thing because we don’t want our villagers dying or converting into zombies and attacking their fellow villagers or anything like that so what we going to do is we’re gonna make a a nine by nine section here of grass just Supported on all of the corners by the stilts that we’ve got here made out of wood and we can make this look however we want it’s not gonna be super important to make it look particularly different so while I’m building the rest of this we’re going to head over to a Village that I’m gonna film separately and we’re going to cover the basics of how village breeding mechanics work and then from there we’re going to explain how we’re going to kind of change those a little bit and exploit them for the purposes of the villager breeder we plan On building here so we’re going to cut away to that and I’ll see you guys on the other side so to understand how to make a villager breeder we have to understand the conditions under which villagers will breed and they are actually fairly specific although they are quite easily manipulated as well Villagers will look for the amount of valid houses within a certain area and a house is actually a fairly loose definition what that typically means is a door with some sort of overhang in the hating that you can go inside and a light source on the insight to indicate That it’s not dangerous and so typically when making village of readers you will see people if they’re using like a standard village like this basically spamming doors all over the place with blocks over the top of them and light sources nearby to indicate that there is Some kind of safety to be found there and when you’re dealing with a regular village like this it’s typically all you need to do to create a bunch of doors just by placing them on existing houses like so even just spamming them kind of out in the open we’ll get these villages In the mood to breed and it’s a little bit of a weird concept but it’s one that is actually fairly manipulatable there are houses within villages that even lack doors encouraging you to put doors on and see if the village population increases the games code will periodically check whether or not the Number of villages is far below the number of doors and I think it’s something along the lines of you need three doors for every one villager this could change by the way this is all very much subject to change in the next update which is going to focus quite Heavily on villagers and how they interact so we could see some changes to this in future but for now in versions one point thirteen and earlier you will need probably three doors to every one villager you want so if you want an absolute ton of villagers to spawn Basically just spam doors all over the place and try and add them to some of the existing houses if you don’t want to build additional houses yourself or mess around on the wiki figuring out what exactly counts as a house and what doesn’t but that is not the only thing That determines whether or not a villager is willing to breach they have to be well-fed and for that we require farms like this one and farmers you’ll notice will actually go around tending to these crops digging them up and replanting them and all of those items Tend to get eaten up by the local villagers the farmers will actually throw food to other villagers to make sure they are well fed but it’s something you can do yourself manually by holding some food in your hand and dropping it at the feet one by one of a Nearby villager eventually that villager will just pick the food up and it’s gone into the villagers inventory which is not something that you can access so it’s never exactly a precise science of knowing how much food a villager has been fed however the more fed they are the more willing they will Be to breed villagers may also become willing to breed by you trading with them the more trading you do the more likely it is a villager will be able to breed if you see those green sparkly particles that unlock additional trades that will also increase the villagers willingness to breathe when a villagers Willingness to breed increases you’ll start to see these heart particles forming above their heads and unfortunately this poor nitwit has fallen in love with a stone no no I’m kidding our librarian villager is down there and has been one of the villagers who we have traded with in the past so they are One of the more likely to become willing to breed but in this case you’ll notice that this farmer out here although it’s not actually a farmer it’s a shepherd but they are one of the farming professions is out here gathering food and we’ll toss that to other villages That haven’t been fed I’ve also introduced a bunch more doors to this village as you can see from this complete maze of doors I’ve created here in order to make them more interested in breeding there’s a couple of lights in there just a fairly basic roof and all Of these doors in there and that’s definitely increased the interest of this villages population to breed when it comes to the exact quantities of food they need in their inventories twelve beetroots 12 carrots 12 potatoes or three bread which can be made using three wheat is Enough to get them willing to breed but of course any additional trading and stuff you do with them will probably increase the chances as well the hearts you will see appearing above their heads indicate that they are entering mating mode and if two villagers enter mating Mode when they are standing next to each other usually facing each other as though they are interacting a baby villager will be born after a while those baby villagers will grow up into regular villagers who can be traded with and the whole cycle will continue until such time as the village has decided That it’s got enough villagers at which point they will stop breeding once again that is calculated by how many doors there are in the village so if they still think that there are too many doors and that there aren’t enough villagers they’re going to keep breeding until there’s enough so we’ll get into Exactly how we can exploit those mechanics for our villager breeder in a second but before that I realize that I have this nitwit leftover here from when we were moving villagers over from the other village and I kind of think we should bring him home And make him the star of today’s show so we’re gonna put him at the top of our village of reader where there is a cell full of doors that basically simulates a real village and we’re gonna put him to work in there as basically the one who’s Gonna get this whole thing started and here he is the village nitwit it’s here to join our village of reading a program now I’m actually gonna go and grab the minecart rails so we can use a minecart to get him over to where I’ve prepared the sight of the breeder I figure this Is probably going to be a little bit easier than taking him over here by boat considering how hilly the terrain is around here it’s also gonna be a really good template for when we have to do this in a minute with some of the other villages that we’ve got stored in other Places I think yeah we’ll have to convert some of these blocks back to dirt and grass just to get him down here or up here I suppose the transmission distance of powered rail is really awesome okay I think we should be okay going up to about here and then we’ll Bring him up here with another set of powered rail and I think that’ll do have to very quickly run inside and sleep before any zombies come out to kill him come on I need to get in bed exactly as the Sun Goes Down otherwise this is all Gonna go very wrong very quickly okay now comes the tricky part transferring him from the boat into the minecart hopefully this should go well and we’ve got a powered rail set up there for the minecart so that shouldn’t be a problem the trick is to either place a minecart As a villagers there push them into the minecart or have the minecart pick them up by moving while they are moving and that is the trickiest part over and done with all we need to do is push him off this rail and up onto the track we’ve Got leading across the bridge you can do this one step at a time without using powered rail if you’re content to push a villager up a hill but the powered rail just really helps them get off to a flying start and I’m slightly worried that okay good I thought I’d built the Track all the way up to this hole in which case you would have just dropped into there but no worries that we can collect up some of this rail and we can continue over that way I think another yeah if we take up all of the rail that We’ve gotten so far in fact let’s use a bucket of water to do that because it’s a little bit faster picking up all of those rails once we’ve got all of this collected we should have no problem getting him up into the village of Breda and then I’ll explain the mechanics of The breeder setup because it is quite different from building an entire village okay so a track laid in and we have a decent amount of the day left so we should be able to get this guy up in the village of Breda pretty quickly issued have enough momentum going up this hill yes Fantastic alright and now he’s off up to this little cell up here and I will explain exactly what this guy is doing so remember earlier when I said that the villagers need a certain amount of doors around them to determine whether or not they need to breed this guy is going to Be up here by himself and he’s gonna have six doors now like I said you need three doors for every villager so this guy is going to detect that he’s going to be on his own and he’s gonna decide hmm I need to breed with somebody unfortunately for him there’s gonna be Nobody up here to breed with because he’s gonna be stuck here on his own and I think it is still actually okay to leave him in the minecarts cruel as that may seem I think he’s got to be a little bit safer that way and I will very quickly find something That I can pillar up here with to get up onto the roof and make sure that the top of this is well enough lit that there aren’t going to be any zombies spawning around the corners and messing with him so there’s a 3×3 cell up here with six Doors in it and one of the most important things here is that there is glass or sky access at least above the section that doesn’t have any doors on because this is what indicates that the he is outside the doors and this is what indicates the doors as kind of being an Inside and a home will probably need to put a lighting Block in here as well that will probably be a good idea but there are a couple of torches in there with him so nothing should spawn in there either and this guy is essentially going to broadcast a signal to the other Villagers that it’s time to breed and the other villagers are going to be here in this cell six blocks below this guy and that is very important because within a vertical distance of five blocks a village will count its population and will count any villages That are in here if this cell is within five blocks of the rest of the villagers but because it is six blocks up it technically counts as outside the boundary of a village but when this guy says hey it’s time to breed there aren’t enough villagers here it’s still going To affect any villagers who are contained within this area the kind of mating signal if you want to call it that I’m not entirely certain how the game decides that but the mating signal will kind of carry to anything in a local area outside of the boundary of what it thinks is a Village which includes every single block in here despite the fact that it is technically outside of the boundary of these six doors counting as a village so for our next trick we’re gonna go down here into this cave and rescue the farmer that we cured in the last episode And hopefully we shouldn’t have too hard of a time getting him out of here mine carts are able to pull entities through corners so all we should need to do is pop a minecart on the rail there push that up there and he’s out fantastic now If I placed all of the rail correctly he should be able to head up this and straight up to our villager breeder and minecart rails do propel you pretty fast he is already in the distance but look at that ended up straight in the tank where we want him I’m gonna very quickly Make sure that this area is well lit just in case bringing the next guy over here takes a little while but hopefully this should all be comfortable for him and no zombies should be able to get in if I block this up momentarily so now with a little bit of off-camera work I Have transferred patient zero into this little holding cell and closed this up and the ideal is gonna be to put a couple of lights in the roof and just put a roof on it in general because yeah this place is going to need to stay incredibly zombie proof if we don’t want These guys getting hurt in any way and believe me we don’t because the next stage is for them to breed now like I said in the section where we were over at the other village for them to become willing they need to have food in their Inventories and we need to do a little bit of trading with them so to create the ideal trading conditions we probably need to get for a start get them out of these mine carts so they can move around and if there are any zombies in like the nearby caves they’re probably going to Want to walk away from them so we should probably at least make sure some of the nearby caves are lit up so that these guys don’t end up pathfinding into separate corners and not talking to each other but we want to do a little bit of Trading with them and we want to set up a field here that the farmer villager or at least the villager with the brown coat is going to be able to till now you’ll notice that the water here is hydrating because this prismarine slab here has actually been waterlogged there Is a bucket of water inside of there in the way that you can at water lock slabs to make sure that the the height the farmland around here is going to be as hydrated as possible and we’re going to allow the land inside of here and start Planting carrots and the reason for that is that the farmers are going to be able to distribute carrots when their inventories fill up with them which means they will throw food to any other villagers that come in here making those villages automatically able to breed and Since this villager up here is going to be constantly broadcasting that hey we need to populate the village signal everybody’s going to want to breed quite frequently for now we are going to fill up the entirety of this field with carrots although we are actually probably going to take out some sections Around the sides here to give away for the villagers to exit when we want to remove them from the breeder but that shouldn’t be too difficult and we should just be able to fill up the rest of this field with carrots to maximize the amount of crops the farm will have to Hand out and that hydration is reaching all the way to the corners here this is probably about the maximum amount of space that you could hydrate as far as like a square space goes if you want you can build it more like a diamond thing so the taxicab distance thing works out For you but the rest of these carrots we can either trade away if this guy was actually a farmer or we can just chuck them to him and he can suck them up into his inventory and have become willing to breed will also do the same for the Village up here who I don’t think needs to be willing to breed because there isn’t really anybody to breed with up there but it’s always handy to kind of have them you know a little bit more willing to breed anyway and considering he’s a nitwit we don’t have any trades To do with him so we can’t do a great deal about that now we’re going to trade a bunch of wool with our Shepherd here so that he becomes willing and yep there we go we’re already seeing hearts fantastic stuff so patient zero here probably needs a couple of traits to go Through as well we can buy an efficiency two iron shovel or unlock the other trades and see what else is out there we can probably trade some iron ingots but the whole reason I want these guys in the first place is so that I can get Some irons so we’re not going to worry too much about that right now let’s trade for the shovel and let’s see if we get any nice diamond tools oh that’s not a bad pickaxe I’m braking to efficiency – yeah that’s actually not a bad trade for a diamond pickaxe oh and it looks Like they are about ready to mate well I’ll give them a bit of privacy but we’re going to hang around in here until the two of them produce a child and the child is in it so dear well atleast nitwits can breed so that’s 100% fine but there we go These two have now mated and they will probably be unwilling to mate again for a little while but once their inventories start filling back up with the vegetables that are growing around here and they will continue to grow and be harvested by our Shepherd here then they should be able to reproduce again And not to mention that all of their offspring will be able to reproduce as well which I know is a little bit weird but believe me that’s how animals work in Minecraft and that’s how villagers work in Minecraft as well so don’t worry too much about the genetic side of Things just think that we are going to be filling up this area with villages now it’s worth noting that as it is right now these villages will breed infinitely and they will never stop until this entire place is completely full of villages and that can potentially be a problem because if this Place fills up with villages there are going to be a whole lot of entities here and that can really lag out your world it could lag out your client and so forth when you’re logged in and it’s it’s really gonna be a problem if we just let them breed infinitely so the Way you can mitigate that is by setting up a set of blocks either like piston-powered or just by placing them on top of this glass here to prevent sky access from this guy because even though there is glass here it doesn’t count as you know it doesn’t count as a barrier To the sky lights coming in so with the blocks over the top of this it’s going to remove the skylight access and that means the villager here is no longer going to be putting out that hey it’s time to mate signal we don’t have to worry about that right now in fact it’s Probably best if we leave this off completely until the villagers have it bred up a bunch of folks down here at which point we can turn it off but in the long run it might be a good idea to set up a system which blocks this at the Pull of a lever or presser button or something like that so that we can turn the villager breeder on and off whenever we want to but the villagers don’t pass on their professions to their children or anything so we are going to end up with all different types of villages Completely separate from the Shepherd and tool Smith professions we’re going to end up with nitwits librarians cartographers probably a lot of cartographers knowing my luck in this series but any kind of villages you can name will end up getting them out of this breeder eventually and that can Actually be a really good way of farming your way through villages until you ones with adequate traits if you don’t get lucky early on in the game to find our mending villager the way I did you will probably get your first mending villager from breeding villagers in a Situation like this and there are lots of different villager breeder designs out there don’t think this is necessarily the definitive infinite village of Rita because there are lots of different ones out there and some of the more modern ones the ones that have been developed a little bit more Recently don’t even use this field of vegetables at all they have villages may be farming carrots for them elsewhere and they just have the two breathing villages stood on like a single block in the middle of all of this and so they basically don’t have anywhere else to go But I like having these guys able to roam around and breed freely when this place starts to fill up a little bit more and this will be a good start for our village of breeding program now they should be safe from zombies up there but like I said I’m probably gonna try and Light up some of these caves off-camera and I’m gonna put a roof on the top of this thing so that they are nice and safe but one last thing before we wrap up today’s episode and it’s about this cell full of doors that we have floating Over the top here as I mentioned that has a six block distance between it and the farm field here so that the the villager up there doesn’t necessarily count as the same village down here but from those six doors it will actually search out in different directions in About a range of 64 blocks that is the maximum kind of outer limit of what it expects to find with a village from the village centre which is actually kind of in the in the middle of those doors there so one thing to note if you notice your villager breda isn’t quite working Right is that if you have any doors within 64 blocks of it around that level like between the kind of five above and five below vertical distance of this box it may cause problems for this and it shouldn’t do because the villagers inside the breeder are still technically Going to be on the boundary of what’s considered like the range of the village but in case your villages in your breeder stop breeding or start acting weirdly just take note of where you’ve placed the doors in the local area and make sure that they aren’t looking to Try and get into those doors in some way but that is gonna be it for
