How To Capture an Elder Guardian! ▫ The Minecraft Survival Guide (Tutorial Lets Play) [Part 198]

Hello everyone my name is pixel riffs and welcome back to the Minecraft Survival Guide hope you guys are having a good day before we get into the meat of today’s episode I wanted to give you folks a quick update on the end hub because I’ve been working my butt off on

Live streams lately just getting the bedrock removed from the top of each of these end gateways and as you can now see there are 20 of them around the circle and they have all had their bedrock hats removed and I’m so happy that this project has basically come to

The its next phase because we’re going to be doing some more stuff on this in the episodes after episode 200 and I’m planning on doing some really cool stuff here in the end it’s gonna be primarily a building project so we may take a bit of a backseat in terms of the tutorial

Focus on those episodes but it’s really gonna be kind of fun to work on some creative building stuff here in the end I really feel like the end is an underused dimension in general so I’m looking forward to sharing some of that with you one thing I did want to note

For anybody else who may be doing this is this gateway leading out to the ender ender somebody pointed out to me quite early and I’m afraid I forget who it was so I apologize for that but somebody pointed out to me while I was doing this

That it was probably going to be a good idea to cap off the Gateway that specifically led to the ender end up because if any Enderman managed to get through that gateway and could drop down onto the farm from above they stood a greater chance of accidentally killing the endermite or intentionally killing

The end of might I guess but it happening by accident rather than by any fault of the Enderman farm that’s out there so I thought it was probably a good idea to do that and I placed a block of obsidian a block or two above the end gateway itself so as a player

Considering that I am less than two blocks high I can walk in there just like I can with any of the other 19 gateways around the arrow side of this circle but thankfully because Enderman are three blocks tall they’ll simply collide with this block of obsidian and

We’ll be able to walk into the Gateway itself so that’s kind of an interesting consideration something I hadn’t initially thought about but I’m very happy that we’ve been able to address it and I’m looking forward to doing some more building around here each of these is going to be transformed into some

Sort of space-age teleporter or kind of beaming up device that’s gonna take you up to a spaceship that’s going to launch you out into the void and land you at your destination at least as far as the fiction of the world goes in terms of the way this works

Practically I can just walk into these now which is still a really really cool feeling and it’s evident that I need to empty out this ender pearl storage at some point but for now we’re gonna head back through to the overworld and I am

Going to go on a little bit of a trip to find an ocean monument that I have not yet raided there may even be one or two that I ended up resetting when we reset chunks of the world before 1.14 came out but we’re going to look for an elder

Guardian today because we are going to steal it as for exactly why we’re going to steal an elder Guardian it has a lot to do with these shelters that we brought to the overworld in a previous episode or rather to do with what we brought the shelters here for because

Once again elder Guardians will contribute to the amount of effect that we need to get for the how did we get here advancement which is the last advancement on our list the hidden advancement the one that we haven’t even got listed in this menu yet because it’s

Hidden as a challenge for people who want to attempt it and yes while we could always row out towards the nearest ocean monument to get the mining fatigue effect come back to whatever station we had the rest of the stuff set up at and go from there we might as well take a

Look at how to transport these things because you might want them for other reasons you might want the mining fatigue effect in your base to stop people from griefing it you might want to just play a prank on your server mates and dump an elder Guardian on top

Of them when they least expected it and cause them a little bit of frustration although I do recommend leaving them a method of removing said elder Guardian if you want to be kind like that this ocean monument out here was the one I was originally going to target but from

The look of it I think I’ve already raided this one which means we probably won’t have any elder Guardians left in here the Guardians around the outside are still here but the bosses inside are going to be gone completely and I haven’t got the mining fatigue effect in

Any of the time I’ve been here so it looks like yep we are gonna have to go a little bit further afield for this one luckily for me this is a wide wide ocean and there are several ocean monuments within just this single stretch of water

So hopefully I should be able to find another one that’s relatively close to the central point where planning on getting me how did we get here advancement in the first place somewhere it’s kind of close to spawn but still a little bit out of the way so

The mining fatigue doesn’t affect me the rest of the time if nothing else it’s gonna be fun to scout out a few more of the ocean ruins that are around here but first of all we’ve got to find that ocean monument so I’m gonna go ahead and do a little bit more searching

Off-camera and I’ll see you guys on the other side okay folks I think we’ve got one I’m pretty sure this is an ocean monument I haven’t been to before going to very quickly verify that by waiting for the mining if fatigue effects to

Kick in or see if we can spot a tail fin through the outside of the monument here hopefully try and break a few Guardians line of sight I don’t hear any of them around here and I have raided a couple of these in the past the one that we saw

At the beginning of this episode was one and I’m wondering if I maybe have rated this one and forgotten about it it doesn’t look particularly raided to me and not that I can see much with all of these Guardians firing their lasers at me I better make a quick escape if I

Don’t want to get shot too much nope there we go okay we do have an elder Guardian here perfect so there must still be three of them in this monument because yeah I was hoping the mining fatigue effect would kick in and confirm my suspicions okay so remember that the

Three locations in which the guardians can be found the elder Guardians at least are the central point at the top there and in either of the two wings one wing will have the room with the pillar where we find the elder Guardian kind of swimming around in circles and then the

Other one will have at the sort of more open room on one side where we find the elder Guardian kind of hanging out in an a more open space naturally with mining fatigue oh and with a bit of dolphins grace it’s not going to be too easy to

Get either of the ones that are a little bit further down a little bit deeper down here not to mention the other guardians are potentially going to interfere with that so what we want to do is steal an elder Guardian from the very top of the monument if we want to

Have this be the easiest possible experience we’re also gonna have to consider at the start here exactly how far away we are from the place that I want the elder Guardian to end up because this is about sixteen hundred blocks north of my spawn point so we are

Going to have to probably build quite a long minecart track all the way down there to to get the elder Guardian that that’s how we’re going to get out of here anyway we’re gonna get out using mine carts thankfully guardians and elder Guardians do not suffocate when

They’re outside of water they don’t need the water to survive and that’s got to be very beneficial for us here because we’re basically going to be transporting this thing over land or at least above the surface of the water for a long period of time but hopefully that should

Be pretty achievable and I need to go and get myself some rails fortunately thanks to having a ton of gold now from the gold farm and a fair amount of redstone and sticks from the witch farm we can make ourselves a few stacks of powered rail and I’m gonna need more

Than that but luckily I’ve got more gold than that as well and this is part of the reason that building resource farms in this game is so brilliant because once you’ve got to the point where you’re like I know what I need for a project I need 12 stacks of powered rail

You’re gonna get it pretty quickly at that point so if I line myself up about here I think this little islands on the outskirts here right near a shipwreck and kind of in close proximity to the spawn point here that is where we’re going to be setting up the platform the

The arrangement of stuff that’s going to get us that how did we get here advancement so I’m gonna light this area up and right here we are going to start a long trek it’s gonna take us over the ocean over a bit of land and then back

Over the ocean and we’re going to make a minecart rail that will take us the entire way and once we’re done with this episode the elder Guardian is going to land about here I think hopefully that should be our goal so without further ado let’s kick this off so a whole bunch

Of rail placing and abridging later I have a bridge that extends off into the distance that actually goes all the way back to that little kind of lagoon that we have there and I have ringed out the top half of this monument specifically the bit where this pyramid-shaped

Section is at the top here so what we going to do is open up the schalke box where we’ve got a bunch of stacks of sand and I’m gonna be placing the sand so that it falls on the inside of this ring that we’ve created here and of

Course the problem with Miss placing any blocks like I just did is that the elder Guardian has cursed us with mining fatigue and I won’t be able to get those blocks back until either the effect wears off or alternatively I can head out to one of the neighboring islands and grab my

A bucket of milk which is most likely what I’ll do because it might be useful to have a bucket of milk in the near future we are going to have to break into the top of this monument after all and while there are several ways of

Doing that such as I don’t know TNT and various things like that yeah the kelp down there is also gonna be a problem so maybe we should see to that real quick thankfully kelp and sea grass will break instantly so these are also things you can break even if you have mining

Fatigue and with a few quick taps hopefully we should be able to get rid of all of this without troubling the Guardians here too much a couple of them do seem to have drawn a bead on me here and there but I think we should be able

To take all of this out and allow the sand to fall freely the idea of course is to surround this entire area in sand and that’s going to allow us to easily dry out the area inside you could use a sponge you could just drown the entire

Thing in sand and then dig the sand away after taking a bucket of milk or two to dispel the mining fatigue effect but personally I think sponge is going to be slightly quicker so that’s the method I’m gonna aim for it’s gonna take a lot of sand placement though so I guess

We’re just gonna have to do this little by little so a little bit of time a lot of sand placing and a couple of cups of tea later oh look at the Dolphins you know he have made it back here and I brought myself a friend because the friend here

The cow is actually going to provide us with milk and I’ve been milking this one already but I thought maybe I’ll bring him over in a bucket and I don’t think the Guardians will attack the cow I think they only go after squids and me

But the Milan fatigue is going to be a problem unless we dispel it using a bucket of milk and once we’ve done that we can work quickly I’ve sectioned this little area off into little smaller segments which hopefully we should be able to get rid of all of the water in

Here with a few well-placed sponges but removing the mining fatigue is going to be essential because I only have about ten sponges so I’m going to need to gather and replace and cook these in a furnace to make sure that they dry out and that’s gonna take a little bit of

Time here anytime the elder Guardian curses me with mining fatigue I just have to dispel the effect with a bucket of milk and then I get maybe 20 or 30 seconds in which I can do whatever I want to around here which is going to be

Crucial for us getting into the top of the ocean monument in the first place because we’re gonna have to break a few blocks to do that and realistically we could just get away with drawing out one section of this as long as there is enough room for the elder Guardian to

Come up here on a minecart but I figure I might as well dry out the entire top half of this to give myself the biggest amount of room to work with because the elder Guardians movements can be a little bit unpredictable and we’re going to need to dry out the inner chamber of

The top part of this monument anyway so that we can get the elder Guardian in a minecart because remember you can’t really place minecart rails underwater they just break okay we got the whole thing cleared out we are just about ready to breach the top of the temple I

Think I’m probably gonna try and make a decent sized hole in the side here both so we can make our escape and so that the elder Guardian itself will be able to get out on the minecart because one problem even though they don’t suffocate in air they will still suffocate in

Blocks and elder Guardians tend to have quite a large hitbox so let’s drink our bucket of milk and let’s open up a hole in the wall here some of the water is gonna come flooding out but that’s fine we should be able to get a nice angle on

The elder Guardian itself and there really isn’t all that much water to clear out of this top section of the temple we can use a little bit more sand or some of stone that I brought to block off the sites prevent the elder Guardian from swimming away too far and we should be

Pretty pretty straightforward from here I think one problem with the other guardians of course is that they do hit a little bit harder than the other Guardians so you might want to give yourself a nice easy way to escape if this goes a little bit awry yeah he’s

Definitely taking a few shots at me oh dear should be able to get out of there before yep the mining fatigue affect our refreshes and we find ourselves in a spot of hot water but the elder Guardian is already kind of floating towards one side over there which means that yet he

Is running out of space and brilliant we should find him a little bit easier to maneuver around now that he is out of water he’s still gonna try and attack us but it’ll be easier for us to place down some minecart rails and despite his enormous size the elder Guardian is

Gonna be able to fit into a minecart just like any other mob woods so let’s start laying down some rails around here we’ll try and avoid his laser beam as much as we possibly can for now this also feels like a point at which I should probably swap my Elektra over for

My protection chest plate because he’s keeping a couple of pretty heavy hits in as I try and do this so we’ll recover the alight trait in a second or two we got a backup in there as well and yeah we should be able to catch him in a

Minecart I just want to try and straighten out this track a little bit and of course he’s inflicted me with mining fatigue again remember of course that there are two other elder Guardians elsewhere in this monument which not only means that he’s not gonna be the only one who can inflict mining fatigue

On us but it’s also gonna mean that you might have a chance at a second try if you want to go through this all and if something happens to your first elder Guardian but yeah hopefully we should be able to get him back into that central

Section or he’s just gonna take a trip outside that’s fine too alright he’s decided to make his way back in and I should be able to pop a minecart down somewhere around here and yes we got him okay now the important thing is gonna be

To take out any blocks that might end up damaging him which of course is gonna mean that we need to get rid of mining fatigue once again but you saw him take a little bit of damage on I think this sponge so anything that’s roughly at his

Eye height I guess is probably the type of block that’s going to damage him but we should be able to duck and dive behind some of these pillars if we need to avoid the laser at Thanks and now it’s a matter of getting him out of here using powered rails

Depending on how irritating the elder Guardian is being you might want to block him off with a wall or something like that to make sure that you can place your powered rails in peace but we’re just going to create a nice little staircase leading up to the minecart

Rail that we have built all the way back to our spawn area and the rest of this should be pretty straightforward okay folks our elder Guardian rollercoaster is in place all of the rails are powered the mining fatigue effect has refreshed one more time so I just need to drink a

Bucket of milk connect up these rails and hopefully this elder Guardian should be off to his new home hell let’s see if we can divert the rail here just a little bit probably gonna have to take a hit or two here and there nothing to worry about

And then if we get in close enough hopefully we should be able to give his minecart a bit of a shove like so and then once he hits the powered rails uh-oh we might take a little bit of damage here and there yeah I think that’s the Stonewall next to him that’s

Causing that take that out of the way of course you might want to bring along a few healing potions or something like that if you’re at all concerned about the health of your elder Guardian but there he goes and it finally had my Electra equipped I would be able to

Follow him but I think I’ve got a spare minecart here so maybe I can ride the rails – no I think I’ve lost him Oh hopefully we should be able to catch up with him soon or at least that makes sure the chunks are loaded in front of

Him because yeah further down the rails here he is he is gonna be flying and right now I kind of need to make sure that he’s moving all the way down to the point that we’ve marked out for him over in this direction and this has been a

Super long journey to move by minecart compared to how it is by a light row but the Sun is rising and hopefully at the end of the line here we should have an elder Guardian waiting for us in a minecart I sincerely hope he’s not managed to suffocate himself on any

Blocks along the way we should hopefully see him coming into render distance shortly if he’s okay yes there he is it looks like he’s not taking damage or anything in fact I’ll probably end up getting my remaining fatigue refreshed once I’m here but yes Oh incredible and

Of course he’s still feisty still firing at us he is still rare to go but we’ve got him trapped here in a minecart for now he should be perfectly fine and of course we can use him to get mining fatigue even if we

Want to put him in a in a kind of box full of water or something like that to make sure he’s back in his natural environment because I’m fairly certain that they can refresh the mining fatigue when they’re on land but you can’t be too careful about these things but he

Should be free of any obstructions now still safely in that minecart making sure he’s not gonna suffocate on any blocks or anything it looks like he might actually need to be in water or maybe it’s just been a long enough since I have the mining fatigue effect taken

Away from it nope there it is okay so that it’s definitely going to work as part of the how did we get here advancement we can leave this guy here we can bring the shelter over by boat we can set up everything else and we have ourselves access to mining fatigue

Whenever we want it now and of course all we need to do is chuck a couple of healing potions on him and put down some minecart rail and we could in theory take this guy basically wherever we want to take him so that has been quite an
