How To Make a Modded Minecraft Server in Minecraft 1.16.1 (Play Modded Minecraft with Your Friends!)

Everyone and welcome back to the breakdown today I’m teaching you how to make a monitor minecraft server a forge service specifically Agency for it is right here on the screen I’m gonna be showing you how to make a forge server every single step of it Forge has updated super quickly to minecraft one

Down 16.1 which means I expect tons of mob support for it it’s gonna be amazing how many mods are gonna update and how awesome one dot 16.1 is gonna be from modded minecraft I’m saying it now this will be the best version we’ve had for modded minecraft in a very long time

Specifically 1.16 am I not be 1.6 need not one but one that’s 60 not 2 or what about 60 now 3 whatever the last version is it’s going to be in my opinion as good as one dot 12.2 so anyway we’ll see if that holds true but I’m pretty sure

That’s gonna happen so today we’re gonna be showing you how to make a modded server on minecraft 1.16 dot one going over every single step of it first and foremost though I do want to mention that this is not like a 24 hour server it’s only up and running when you were

Computer is up and running it’s not DDoS protected and it’s hosted on your own public IP address and on your own computer’s hardware so what does that mean well you need a decent computer to do this modded servers minecraft servers in general are pretty hard on CPU and RAM on your computer and

Guess what with a modded server it’s even more difficult it’s gonna use more RAM it’s gonna use more CPU on top of that it toes on your public IP so it’s just for your friends family people that you trust because someone with your public IP can find out where you live

They can find out your latitude longitude coordinates they can do a lot of things including D naxi which the server is not DDoS protected because it’s hosted on your computer in your own computer network is not necessarily DDoS protected so because of all of that I don’t recommend hosting the server and

Let’s just just for your friends and family and if you have a pretty good computer to do it what if you do still want to host a server though well the easiest way to host a minecraft server is it apex minecraft hosting and it’s made to be able to give out to anybody

And everybody or does your friends and family whoever you want but if you wanted to spam the IP of an apex minecraft hosting you know server in like this comes this video where ever you could do that on top of that it is on apexis hardware apex is designed to

IP and play on it it’s also super easy to set up a forward server instead I have to go to this entire process that you’re seeing here in this video over 15 minutes you can just go make a few clicks and get your server set up we love apex they’re absolutely incredible

Assuming you’re ok with just a server through hands and family and you’ve got a pretty decent computer to run it on now the first step is actually coming here and downloading forge you’re gonna need forge in two ways you’re gonna need fortune locally and you’re gonna need

Forge on your server right so to do that you want to go here this is gonna be the second link down below it’s gonna take you to our actually forge tutorial this is how to install forge your friends that put on your server want you to

Install forward as well so you can see them this tutorial see how to do that however for you you just wanna click on the green download force button and we’re gonna be on load these server files so to do that you want to go and

Make sure it’s as MC 1 dot 16.1 here as you can see it doesn’t so what to do that we want to click on the left hand side and that plus 1 dot 16 and then click on 1.16 dot 1 there and then you’ll see MC 1 dot 16.1 here what you

See that there it might be there right away if it’s not invade anymore.if forge 1.16 not one isn’t in beta it’ll go to this right away but if it does not say that go ahead do the thing on the right hand side until it does say MC 1 dot

16.1 and they come under download latest and click on installer there that’ll then take us off to add focus we’re stop your downloads not ready it is lying to you don’t click a single thing on this page not a single thing wait don’t do it don’t click a single thing on this page

Except the red skip button up here in the top right see that red skip button click that red skip button in the top right and it’s gonna download in the bottom left down here so as you can see the download is down here but it’s saying this harm this

Can’t army computer it’s talking on your computer or doesn’t know them about millions of people there are videos alone it’s actually been downloaded by millions of people but nevertheless make sure it does say forge and if it does you’re safe to keep the file no issues

As long as it says forward you’re good to go if it doesn’t say forge click discard and click that red skip button in the top right but remember don’t look anything on this page if you don’t cook anything else except that skip button in the top right it’ll say

Forge you’ll be good to keep it I’m Mozilla Firefox at our popping this your screen where you want to save the file now if we minimize our browser here on our desktop we have the forge installer that we downloaded also have this weird unconfirmed file you probably won’t have

That but anyway there’s this Forge download installer that we have here now this is another desktop no worries it’s gonna be found in your downloads folder so go ahead and go into downloads here downloads file folder and windows click on that and you’ll find Forge here in

Your downloads folder drag that to your desktop just for ease of use now to install Forge and the forge server we want to first right click on the desktop create a new folder you can name it whatever you want like for word server or something like that uh name it played

Desktop here and then now we can click on forge so to do this right click on it click on open width click on java and click OK now if you have all that if you have this looks like a Java coffee cup right if it doesn’t look like a winrar

File or just a page file or something like that and then you also right-click click on open with have Java here it might not be Java thing about messy binary but as long as it’s something to do with Java click on that and click OK

It’ll open up this but what if you don’t have that what if it doesn’t look like this Java coffee cup what if it looks like a winrar file what if you don’t have open with Java what do you do well knows no worries it’s not I maybe I’ll

Just go to the description and go here this is our Java for Minecraft mods and services to show you how to get the correct version of Java from Oracle for mods servers things like that since we’re running a modded server we definitely need this version of Java

Here I’ve always got a already installed so no worries there on my part but you can go there here step 3 simple three-step process to get Java now if that doesn’t work and you’re still having issues it still doesn’t look like a jar file you can run the jar fix and

This is gonna do is make all the doctoral files and computer work with Java once again basically link them together make them work perfectly so another simple three-step process down on this program run it and then you’ll be good to go so now finally we can do

That we can right click on Java or right click on for it excuse me click on open with select Java and click OK then it’s gonna open up the mod system installer here where all you need to do it first it’s weak on install client and click

Okay that’s gonna download Forge for you like I said you need to have Ford’s installed on your computer and on your server right so for single-player basically and like all that stuff you need to have that installed in your launcher and they need to download the server so building processors it’s

Finishing up here and then will come up and say successfully install forge if it doesn’t say that just go play minecraft vanilla 1.16 dot one come back and it will work as you can see SEC’s we install Forge awesome click OK now we again want to right-click on Forge click

On open with click on Java and click OK except this time we want to call it click on install server this is gonna turn red down here and you wanna click on these three dots over here on the right then it’s gonna open up this kind of like file window then click on

Desktop on the left hand side and find the folder you created in my case played out breakdown craft comm and then click on open then that red box will go away and then click OK now it’s gonna download it’s gonna do everything it needs to do you’ll see files start

Appearing in here if we open this up we actually be able to see files do start appearing and the background back here as forward is downloading and doing things and making things work and adding things in and all of that stuff so anyway we’re gonna go ahead and let that

Finish and I will see you after a quick jump cut alright the installation is finishing up now of the server files as you can see it’s all the way green if it does freeze well it’s starting up like that don’t worry it’s just a forge thing but as you

Can see it’s s we downloaded server and installed one dot 16.1 Forge awesome so if we click OK now right and then we open up that folder that we create in our desktop we will have this in here we will have the forge in the Minecraft underscore server dot one dot

16.1 now we’re gonna run this with a run dot bat file now if you do want to do this I’ll show you what happens if you double-click on the forge right here it is gonna open up a server it’s kind of launched a server it is but it’s only

Gonna have one gigabyte of RAM that’s it and that’s not enough that is not enough to run a modded minecraft server it’s just not gonna work right as you can see it do come up and say you love dot txt here that means it’s not opened up it’s

Fail and then actually we will never open up the GUI if you do do what I just did there you actually need to come up here in the task manager and quit out of Java you’ll see connect combi ghost opened in the background at least it usually is but nevertheless what you

Need to do is in to set up a run dot bat file don’t be overwhelming to do right it’s very very simple to install and set up a run dot bat file but I would recommend doing that is it’s gonna lay to get more than

One gigabyte of RAM on your server so to do this just right-click create a new text document write some new text document just leave it called new text document txt that’s why you doesn’t even or anything then open up your new text document then in this if you want to go

To the description down below just go to the description of this video and you’ll find this and these codes here basically two gigabytes means a two gigabyte minecraft server of RAM three gigabytes or gigabytes and so on and so forth now what you want to do is take

The code from where it says Java to pause in the description down below copy and paste it over here into minecraft it should start with Java on the first line and then on the last line it should end with pause right like so right now what

Do you want to do and this is very very important because if you don’t save it correctly it’s not gonna work do file save as and then you want to go ahead and title this run doc dat so run dat and then it’s very important that you

Select all files as your save time so run dot BAC is the file name all files is the save type then click Save now you’ve done it it’s done alright one thing I do want to mention is that if you want to add more RAM you can add

More RAM here it’s in megabytes so 6000 128 megabytes for example 6120 a guys would be like 6 petabytes of RAM you want to of it here and here so change both of those numbers they should always be the same thing you’ll add more RAM to your server

Nevertheless let’s go ahead and close out of that and we have this newly created run dot bat file we can delete the text document we created now double click on the run dot bat file and it’s going to fail alright as you can see unable to access jar file forward server

Why is that well that’s because we need to come here where it’s 4 inch that’s 1.16 1 – random numbers it shouldn’t be forged – when not 16.1 that’s the file you need what it says after that doesn’t matter right click on it click on rename

And then title this Forge server all one word forge server and then dot drop the end for me it might not say doctor at the end for you right for you it might just look like this I might just say forge server know doc jar file just

Forged server that’s the case no worries nevertheless let’s go ahead I’m gonna turn filename extensions back ons and easier do them away click on view bottom extensions and now if we double click one we’re not that again it’ll fail one more time by the way so

If you double click on its gonna do some things this time bit more this time but it’s still going to fail now what do you do how do you make it not fail well it’s pretty simple just go ahead and find the EUL a txt file there we go it failed

Over there find the ula dot txt file double click on that it’s gonna open with notepad and go to this link right here make sure you agree to the Minecraft ble minecraft Yubel a if you do come to where it says you let equals false and change it to you leak was true

TR UE exactly it like is that once it says you like equals true do file save and now double click on that run a file this time your server is going to launch up yes you are finally going to have a forward server started this is gonna take some time though minutes literally

Minutes of minutes and minutes of time to get up and running and get started and all that stuff so just give it some time to get started I’m gonna do a quick jump cut while it’s getting started and then I will see you once that we are

Officially set up and I’ll show you what to look for to know that your forge server is actually set up and running oh but if you do get this pop-up this Windows Defender firewall pop-up you want to make sure that you selected private networks and public networks

Make sure both of those are selected that way your friends can join if not you’re gonna have to go through and like actually take care of this later so make sure both of these are selected this might not pop up for you if it doesn’t

That’s ok but if it does make sure both are checked and then click allow access awesome and well that’s was we were doing that the server finished so it says done here that means the server has started up now at this point you could join your server but your friends and

Family cannot join your server so first I’m gonna show you how you can join your server and then I’m show you how your friends and family could join so how you can join is first we’ll just leave this up we want to go ahead and open up the

Start menu in the top left of my screen bottom of your screen this time though we want to type in CMD and then we’ll have this command prompt click on that and that will open up command prompt a lot like so then in here you want to

Talk I P conf IG ipconfig/all one word exactly like that and hit enter then you’re gonna have a bunch of information here but what we need is two things I’m gonna open up a new notepad document we need our ipv4 address right ipv4 address and then we need our default gateway

All right so for your ipv4 address that’s gonna be found right here in my case that’s 192.168.1.1 to three yours this most likely completely different from that and if it is that’s okay it should be your default gateway is going to be found right here and for me that’s

192.168.1.1 again very simple but yours is probably going to be different and that’s okay now if you do have a long string of numbers and letters like this right up here you want to go for the one that’s not that right so you’ll have one that’s long Street your numbers and

Letters and then under that you will have one that’s more simpler or like 192.168.1 might not be that one but it’s gonna be a similar format go with the one that’s just numbers and copy it over to here now to join your server you once your server started then we’re gonna

Need to open up the minecraft Launcher again we need to make sure forward to select it so we – like this forage profile here it should say 1.60 not one dashboard go ahead play into minecraft and we can join your server using this ipv4 address here now your friends your family anyone

You want to play on the server cannot join via that this is not gonna work because this is only available on your local IP that’s your local IP right that is basically on your network that’s what the IP of this server is to the public it’s gonna be your public IP address but

In order for that to work you’re going to need to port forward right so I’m just gonna go ahead let this load up real quick I’m going to show you that you can in fact to join this server yourself this is a good way to make sure

That you know kind of test how your computer’s resources are going to handle the server if you want to test mods things like that you can do that we’re gonna direct connect here and then paste in our server address and then click join server right like so it’s going to

And log right on in and we’ll see it did happen over there’s well on the left hand side boom and yeah this is our this is our for server awesome stuff so now we’ll join right back in here exactly where we are whenever we joined be our public IP of it later

So we’ve confirmed the server’s working you should always do that look at that plate up breaking up graphic comm best server in the multiverse anyway we’re gonna go ahead and just close out of it now let’s go ahead and get this server available for your friends and family to

Join I will mention if port forwarding is too much for you you do not have to port forward on an apex server I’ll get over there is set this order server up we have a few simple clicks and then get the IP and play no port forwarding is

Nothing like that but nonetheless let’s go ahead and get this done so the first thing you want to do is stop your server so we’re gonna stop the server over here by typing Scop and then it’s stop the server and then press any key to close out of that window now we want

To come back over here into our server basically documents rag get all of our server files over here we want to find the server dot properties file go ahead and double click on that might open with notepad automatically but you may have to select to open here so a notepad when

You’ve done that you want to go ahead and scroll down until you find server at – IP equals right here it is now next to serve – IP equals you want to copy and paste that ipv4 address that you found earlier so copy and paste that there

It’s the same IP that you just used to join your server again only you can join your server off of that ipv4 address let’s go ahead and do file save save the server dot properties and we can port forward to do that we need to take this

Default gateway here so we’re gonna copy our default gateway come back up here and type that in to a new tab right like so then hit enter and this new tab is going to take us to something that looks similar or most likely completely different to what you see on your screen

Right now there’ll be one thing in common there’ll be some sort of a login box it’ll be here it’ll be popped down from the top and a pop in from the bottom it’ll be on the center screen something like that now there are a few sections

Of that if you’re on like a hotspot or something like that you can’t start a server unfortunately because you can’t log in to port forward on that hotspot it’s not possible you know I’ve looked into it we’ve tried it’s not possible you can’t host a minecraft server on a

Hotspot as far as we could tell additionally you need to be able to log into your router and that means probably not on like a for example college campus if you’re using dorm Wi-Fi you’re not gonna be able to start a server because you can’t log into that router however a

Lot of dorms do allow you to actually go in and set up your own internet if that’s the case you can do that and then you could forward your router port for your router and allow people to join the server nevertheless once you’re here you

Want to log in now what is the username password well we have an in-depth guide on finding your routers username and password here’s a simple five a method process usually people find their password and are logged in by method 3 though but this is imma show you exactly

How to get logged into your router get your router’s password once you have that come back over to your router enter in the login info and then just click sign in right like so then it’s gonna sign us right on into our router right like this Butterbean but a boom wait for

Guide on port forwarding over here and this is specifically going to show you how to port forward on all the top routers out there today however there’s one router we forgot that’s gonna be the Google Wi-Fi it wasn’t popular when this video came out if that’s the case you’re

Actually gonna use the app on your phone the Google Wi-Fi app on your phone secondly if your router isn’t featured here still watch this video because most routers are using similar software there rebranding other companies software and all sorts of stuff like that so you’re gonna pick up the terms you’re gonna

Forwarding for me is insecurity for you maybe an accent gaming and maybe in NAT 40 in 80 40 maybe in port forwarding slash port triggering it probably is gonna mean something like an advanced tab or an advanced and then it bounced again or an admin tab or something like that for me

It is in security and then it is an accent gaming and then finally it’s in single port forwarding so as you can see there we had poor 14 for maybe I don’t have some gaming and we had the security tab right don’t be afraid afraid to click around your router though just

Click around until you find port forwarding of some sort port forwarding such port triggering or just port management even could work and probably is port forwarding so once we’re here we’re on port forwarding add a new single port forward now these may be called a little bit differently on your

Router but I’m gonna give you basically the terms that they should be so for application names that could be IT ID or something like that we’re gonna enter in minecraft for external ports we’re gonna enter in two five five six five no matter what if it says the word port P

Ort if it says it at all you’re gonna enter in two five five six five that’s the default port for minecraft servers so two five five six five here and anything that there guess what there’s that word ports again and we’re gonna into five five six five right like so

For protocol you want to select both or you want to select TCP / UDP or UDP / TCP you just wanna make sure both protocols select it if you wanna set up one to the port forward twice one for TCP once for UDP and unless we’re gonna

Select both they’re never device IP you may not have this you may not have it a vice IP at all right and that’s okay because you’re probably gonna have a drop-down box if you dump if you have the drop-down box just select the computer that you’re starting the minecraft server

For example it would be my desk big computer here but you might be your laptop whatever it is just select the device on your network that you’re starting the computer on however if you do last like if it does ask for an IP that’s gonna be the ipv4 address so in

Our case 192.168.1.1 in our case is what that is or sorry I don’t 1.1 2 3 right that’s our ipv4 address from over here 192.168.1.1 2 3 when I do don’t want to sit on the TT 3 awesome and now we can go ahead and click Save boom now for

Some people it’s gonna ask for an external or outside IP for their port forward if that’s the case that’s just gonna be your public IP address which you could find here at this link this is where you can get your public IP address

So for me you can just see 1 2 9 here but you can also see why it’s important that this is only for your friends and family a lot of information can be gotten from your public IP address including your city your state your country and even your latitude and

Longitude coordinates all down from this IP address so we’re gonna copy that now if you needed that over on your port forward go paste it in save it apply all of that stuff however if not you still need that public IP address why because that’s how your friends are going to

Join your server your friends are going to join off of your public IP address right so now if we minimize our browser here we can start our server back up so we’re gonna double click on that run that file I’m gonna go ahead do a quick

Jump cut until the server is up and then we’ll be able to join VR up public IP and we’ll be done there we go as we can see it does say done there now we can come back into minecraft this time though when we click on Direct Connect

We’re not gonna enter in our local IP address only we can join off of that we’re gonna enter our public IP by the way you should be able to join off of your public IP however some Internet service providers and stuff don’t allow you to do that your double routing

Technic links your going out on your public IP and coming back to it so the Internet service providers don’t allow that so you may have to join off of that local IP address but as long as your friends can join off of this public IP you’re gonna go it’s never let’s go

Ahead and click join server and it’s going to think it’s on it as you can see that 1 to 9 carried over from the website into minecraft there we are in the same server awesome stuff that shows you that it’s working that show you that the port forward is up and running

However what if you enter it in that public IP and you couldn’t join well don’t freak out at first like I said as long as your friends can do it off of that IP you’ve got nothing to worry about over your friends can’t join off

Your public IP it is going to be an issue either with your firewall like Windows Defender where we enabled public networks earlier you’re gonna need to do that in Windows Defender I’ve got a video coming up on that soon however you should just be able to Google how to

Enable Java or how to allow you know remove things from Windows Defender and it’ll be good to go this is very smooth I’m not gonna lie I’m impressed with this but nevertheless so that’s something a firewall or it’s an issue with your port for it so go check that

Make sure you select a device correctly and things of that nature now if your server does stop working after a while make sure your eyepiece haven’t changed to make sure that local IP address hasn’t changed make sure your default gateway hasn’t changed make sure that your public IP hasn’t changed all these

Epis do change over time and do change regularly so if something just one day isn’t working that’s most likely what it is you just need to refresh those IPs unless thank you all so so much for watching this video if you did enjoy it give it a thumbs up if you want to
