Hey everyone in cnn finn and this is part two of my custom dimensions data pack tutorial for minecraft java edition so in this video i’m going to show you how to add custom dimensions and create your own custom dimensions so there will be timestamps in the Description to take to the part of the video you want to watch i’m going to start by showing you how to add pre-made custom dimensions to your dimensions data pack so to start with you’re going to need either one or two files as you can see i have two files here one Is a dimension file one is a dimension type file some custom dimensions may only have a dimension file so to add these i’m going to open up the dimensions data pack then go into data custom dimensions and dimension then i can grab the dimension file And drag it in this is the same with the dimension type file you can just drag it into the dimension type folder and these are now added so now i’m going to show you how you can create your own custom dimensions there’ll be a link in the description to this website On here you can choose dimension on the dimension type i would recommend you keep this on preset and also make sure you’re on 1.16 in the top right or whatever version of minecraft you are playing in dimension type you can pretty much call it whatever But if you want to have a custom type you’re going to need to type custom underscore dimensions or whatever the folder is called within the data folder in the data pack as you can see mine is called custom dimensions so whatever this folder is called Needs to go at the start here then put a colon and then you can call it whatever you want i’m going to call my cave world then in generator you can make it super flat debug or default i’m going to keep it at default you can set a seed for the dimension You can change settings for the biomes and you can change the generator settings i’d recommend keeping this on preset unless you know what you’re doing i’m going to change this to minecraft caves to create a caves only dimension now what you’re going to want to do once you finish messing around with these Settings is click copy then what you can do is open visual studio code then go to file new file and then paste then you’re going to want to go to file then save as and then go to wherever your data pack folder is stored then go into data custom dimensions Dimension then you can call it whatever you want i’m going to call it cave world and then you need to put dot json at the end then you can click save going back to the website there is another tab for dimension type these will change to certain settings about the dimension so You can change it so beds don’t work and beds will blow up if you try to use them so i’m going to change that one so beds will blow up if i try to right click a bed that’s all i’m going to change here again click copy open visual studio code Click file new file and then paste and then before you save this go into your dimension file and just make sure that you add underscore type to the end of this line here so as you can see this now says custom dimensions colon cave world underscore type And make sure you save this file again you could you you don’t have to choose save as you can just normally save it then go back into the other file go to file save as and then this time save it in the dimension type folder and you’re going to want to call It whatever you put at the end of the first line in the other file which i put cave world underscore type then click save we’re now done with visual studio code now there are two dimensions added to the data pack we’re going to make sure they work i’m Going to open up the minecraft launcher make sure you select version of minecraft that supports custom dimensions again that is 1.16.2 or newer unless it is removed in the future wait for minecraft to load once you’re at the title screen select single player and create new world make sure you’re in Creative or you have cheats on then click data packs then open pack folder then copy your data pack folder and paste it then you can close this window and the data pack should show up in the left side once it has loaded add it to your world then click done Then create new world you’re going to want once click proceed here the message comes up as custom dimensions are currently an experimental feature in minecraft once the world is loaded just have a quick look around to check to make sure the overworld is correctly generated and then you can open the chat window And then type slash execute in and then you should have your custom dimensions here so i’m going to go for the cave world first then type run then teleport and then to teleport yourself type that s or your minecraft username and then i’m just going to teleport to the coordinates 0 100 0 then press enter as you can see i’ve got stuck inside a block because this is a cave world i am going to switch into spectator mode so we can find a cave so as you can see this whole dimension is just full of caves so i can go Inside here and switch back into creative mode or it would be survival mode if you’re playing this on survival world but as you can see this whole world is like a cave and i had the planes biome set as the main biome so it generates with planes biome features such as grass blocks Random water and just grass and flowers everywhere now i made the change that beds won’t work so if i get a bed okay so if i place down a bed and if i try and sleep as you can see the bed explodes so that setting works correctly now i’m Going to make sure the other dimension i added works correctly by typing the same command slash execute in this time i’m going to go to sky run teleport at s 0 100 0 and press enter probably going to want to fly straight away so i don’t fall into the void And as you can see floating islands have now generated in this world so there we go the custom dimensions are working correctly and the data pack is all set up and you can add as many custom dimensions as you want of course as you want to add more More advanced dimensions there may be some other things you’ll have to change but this is the basics for getting a custom dimensions data path so there you go you can now quit out the world and quit out minecraft thank you for watching this video if you did like it then leave a like And be sure to
