In this video I wanted to redesign some Minecraft mobs and various 3D art styles the results might make you lose sleep at night but honestly it’s going in the portfolio anyways I Don’t Really Care turns out 90 of you haven’t redesigned the Subscribe button yet so that’d be Kind of nice if you did that for the first mob to redesign I had to find two things some inspiration and then a mod that would go well with it so I went around and saved tons and tons of Instagram posts that I thought would be fun styles to replicate but there was One thing that I saw that I knew I had to use if not anything else it involves taking a realistic human and then giving it the head of a cartoon character the style was pioneered by an art director in Egypt Muhammad Halawani and I just find them so hilarious I knew they would Probably work well for this project so next I had to pick a mob that would work well most of the humanoid moms would be funny but I ended up settling on a villager with those two things in mind I got to work for the base I used a pre-made human from renderpeople.com I Got the 100K vertex version and that ended up being perfect I threw it in a scene with a couple of light sources and I could already tell this was gonna be funny I added in a backdrop by adding a plane extruding the back face up and beveling the corner this always looks Good it’s my go-to for lighting an object like this and for color I added a default material and if you click the E key over these color boxes you can sample any color with a single click hey wait a minute that reminds me of something else that you can turn a Certain color with a single click I sampled the Villager skin tone for this one so the scene would match sometimes that’s a risky move because it’s easy to end up blending the character in the background together but this time it could not have worked more perfectly so anyways I started blocking where the Villager’s head would go and it was perfect but I needed to delete this guy’s head first I counted the exact number of pixels for each side and added Loop Cuts accordingly next I started mapping on the original textures to the head of the Villager the benefit of Using the original textures is that you can go under UV snap snap to pixels and get rid of any overlapping or things like that however the downside is that it’s blurry at first but if you change the interpolation to closest instead of linear it fixes the problem beautifully So I’m just going around mapping the texture and testing out some new lighting but something big was missing the nose and to be honest with you I’m not even sure what I did here so I’m I’m just going to show you after the nose I started prototyping Camera angles that really made you feel intimidated but the absolute by the absolute confidence of this man especially this one where he’s looking down at you I kept on doing that but I needed to separate them from the background a little bit more I added a Couple lights one behind and one to the side of him to emulate a typical three-point light setup I shot more angles but it just wasn’t looking right this is when I implemented one of my 200 blender tips from the last video I used a gradient texture on a plane to emulate What a soft box looks like I used another of the tips to track this object to the Villager so that when I duplicate it it always faces the subject it was then that I realized how much these tips increase the speed of my workflow even if I don’t remember ninety percent of Them this is when the lighting started to look absolutely excellent and I beveled the edges slightly to take advantage of this nice Rim lighting I then started to render out the final images now let’s take a look at the results yeah this is nice I love how dramatic This one is it’s it’s perfect next I needed to pick another good mob for the thumb for the uh for the project and they ended up settling on a creeper right everyone knows a creeper I wanted this to be a cute creeper something that could make people feel bad for killing Them all the time I think I succeeded but it ended up as a cursed image either way for reference I found this fun render of Gumball and Darwin and then I literally searched cute creeper let me put it this way fellas do yourself a favor and never scroll down when Searching for cute just don’t search that at all people are people are messed up dude I found this image here and it was nice so I decided to use it as reference the first step was to block out the model using my famous subdivided Cube method then I did the main part the Eyes as there’s something I never thought I would have to search to find this reference image here but uh it served its purpose my plan for the mouth was to make a curved object and then cut it out of the original object using a Boolean but I decided to worry About it later it turns out creepers have four legs so I made those and that makes it so much worse then I made the eyes fully reflective I’m already tearing up at this point then I started messing with the shape of the mouth that I ended up doing this one because I Thought it was so funny look how cute he is then I added for I knew it was too good not to use but man do I wish I didn’t think of that I added interpolated children to the hairs so it didn’t look too spaced out and That’s pretty much what I did with the fur I then brought the mouth back in oh my I ended up separating it as an entirely new object and removed the hair stimulation from it I mean that’s not too bad right I wanted him to hold a sign originally like the background does But I was gonna post this and I needed it to be somewhat original right so I didn’t end up using that but I used curves for the arms and merged them with the body using a union modifier so the simulation would carry over then I started trying to make his little picket Sign but it didn’t look on brand I thought what if it was a toothpick so it turns out there’s a difference between creativity and creative genius like what that idea was I’m just kidding it was a really dumb idea because then it hit me what if there were seven of Them the people aren’t actually ready for this level of groundbreaking creativity guys so I decided not to do that one and I was using a stock image texture I really tried it I even gave it a little rubber band to hold it together but then I went what if it was a white Flag that I don’t even need to make a sign that’s genius all I needed to do now was enact a realistic claw simulation perfectly mimic the physics properties of such a flag in real life and play the simulation forward to find the perfect frame and still mess it up And have to re-render it later but then I went what if I made a background in the actual Minecraft game and figured out that there’s a thing called a structure block that allows you to export 3D structures in this awful format that no one uses except this web Converter that turns it into another format that no one uses except this program called MC edit except that one doesn’t work either so then I say okay let’s drill a hole into a super flat world at 11 frames per second with a render distance of 4 on Fast graphic Does anyone even use that with blender and literally everything else closed and then download a sketchy conversion app from a Minecraft animation YouTube tutorial then I go I’m hyperventilating then it actually works perfectly thank you actually so I positioned a little guy in there add some lighting And things like that and then I go gasp what if it was a stick like a Minecraft stick so I do that duplicate it don’t even line it up delete what I had Perfection depth of field color correction lighting adjustment eyeball Reflections render it out this is awful It needs to be 4K so I can zoom in and see each individual strand of hair well there it is folks if you like these mobs follow me on Instagram like the video like the IG post hit the Bell notifications by the company of Target watch more Videos Target watch 50k likes and I’ll put them in the game [Applause] all right Video Information

I had the idea to redesign some minecraft mobs, but I never expected it to turn out like this. In this video I redesigned the villager, and redesigned the creeper, and if you’d like more feel free to redesign that like button.
