Let’s Play Minecraft Survival : Planning my NEW Steampunk City!

Hey folks whip here and welcome back to the minecraft 1.16 survival let’s play today we are gonna get right into the action head on into the nether and gather up a bunch of glowstone so that we can add some lights over to our industrial district when the sun sets over there it

Gets to be a bit brutal with the mob spawning action however to make sure we prepare for our nether adventure we should probably get our gold boots to avoid the piggies and i think that’s a fortune 3 diamond pickaxe but we do that’s a silk touch one that is almost

Broken but i think we’ll be able to squeeze by we only need a few pieces of glowstone last episode we pretty much finished up ooh there’s some glowstone right over there and right there let’s go down and find that but as i was saying last episode we finished up the flower

Forest village and it is looking awesome over there built up a windmill a one tall flower and seed farm of our own design and just did a lot of awesome things over there however that has got me thinking a lot about the base we have here i think of

Gas blew up my pathway but as mentioned i’ve been thinking a lot about our main steampunk city base that we’ve been working on off and on for the entire series so far and well i think it’s time that we come back to that and actually spend some

Time working on it let’s get some netherrack so we can fill her up a little bit easier so as we’re gathering up the glowstone i want to tell you all a little bit about the plans moving forward today i want to actually plan out the city the entire city area that

We’re going to be building that’ll be housing all of our villagers villager professions trading halls and all of that different type of stuff so we can create a free roaming area for all of our villagers to live almost a stack of glowstone at this point which should hopefully be able to

Do it and oh yep just one block shy of the stack yeah that’s fine back in the overworld as it is night time now i think we gotta go sleep as um the place we’re gonna go check out well we might be able to see it from the corner

Taking turtle boat out into the bay you can see what i’m talking about there’s no mobs yep totally can see what i’m talking about hello i was trying to show that this is a deadly scary place and there’s nothing here okay well i guess we just get to work then

We don’t need daytime we can do it at night time oh we need daytime oh we need daytime so what we can do over here to get ourselves started i think is just kind of laying out a few points where we’re gonna have these so we’re gonna put the spruce trap doors down

I’m thinking we can go one two three and then one two three i’m okay if it’s not perfect we’re gonna be adding building ins la buildings in later so this is just something to get ourselves started so we do this as like a grid of going every six blocks

It should help make the area at least bearable to work in i definitely was under the impression that phantoms only appeared once per night when you first start to see them and get all insomnia and everything oh yes god well i only had one hit

Oh i’m so bad at this game i just missed like five minutes in a row oh it’s really bad oh there we go got them both at once the main dock area has all of the trapdoors in and now we just got to jump on down underneath

And just add in a bunch of glowstone and pick up all of the logs too i am very low on dark oak wood so it’d be nice to have these back now that i’m down here and thinking about it we probably should set up some way to actually get down here and gather

These blocks or the slime balls and everything because uh it’s a little flooded and we don’t actually have a way to get down right now oh that is gonna be so much easier to be able to see things around here oh it’s gonna be great and there’s mob spawning

And more phantoms of course oh oh it almost got a second hit i think i’ve killed more phantoms in this world than i’ve ever killed in a minecraft world because i ya boy never stays up any other series i’ve ever done i always fall asleep as

Soon as the night comes down there are now four of them and the sun is coming up and hopefully they’re going to disappear rather soon yeah you guys can just disappear that’d be great have a great rest your life burning in the sky right above me

There we go all of the glowstone is now installed as well and i believe yeah i do i have a little bit of sand on me from working over in the other area now for this area over here however if we were to bring ourselves down right

There it’s going to give us space to at least have a tiny bit of area to walk around before we get into this lineball collection system and i think this guy actually is gonna have to be moved backwards unless for now let’s just leave it and see if we can build it into

The wall taking some basalt so that it matches with what we did over here for the actual killing chamber i think we can create a nice little bit of a box and we’ll figure out how we can drain it out with all the sand that we have

And i still don’t have respiration and i’m drowning constantly drowning let’s eat a baked potato it’ll make us feel better now i think with the floor itself i would love to be able to add multiple layers of chest to here so we’re going to bring it down a little bit

Lower i think this will be a good spot for us and then we’ll have all the hoppers in behind it and we probably don’t need to fill in that back area i’m okay with the showing a little bit of the blue through here now for the fun job of i’ve got to

Figure out how to drain this most efficiently i think what we can do is just kind of do the sand along the edge right there because that’ll take out that layer there we go got to go quick on this okay there we go yup you got to make the

Sound effects too it’s how it goes really really quickly and spamming sandblocks everywhere seems to be doing the trick for us here and now we’ve just got to figure out this last little one right here where unfortunately all of the sand on top of the chest was breaking it is never not

Going to be fun watching the slimes come out of this entire tube here and just landing inside of the campfires it’s so cool to look at look at all these little guys oh look at them oh they’re all going along there’s like oh no oh no their faces are always just so surprised

Too they’re like oh god no i’m not a bad person i swear now for this little section in here we’ve gotta come around the back adding in a lot more hoppers here thankfully we only needed 10 more of them and that’ll be able to get everything moving over

That direction we can fill in all of these chests going right along here and there we have it we’ve got a lot more chests already some slime up here and inside of them and that should be great for this little farm down here and i’m gonna leave a crafting table too so

We can craft up the slime blocks now that we’ve got the slime farm industrial area sorted for the day it is time for us to jump up there and work on getting our city it’s planned out and built up back in that area before we do that though i

Need to make a few more torches because something tells me it’s going to be a little dangerous up there i’m going to see can we just make as many as we can we’ve got a bunch more logs on us here too so if we need to make more as we’re going

What did i just do i don’t know what i crafted i used all my oak wood and turned it into more sticks didn’t i hmm okay swinging back through the original starter base i figured we got to say hi to ender but hey how you doing good to see ya good to see

You i hope you’re enjoying the wall looking great as ever now we can take the express route that we built up with our monorail system and hopefully catch a minecart whenever it comes back it just takes a second but i feel like this is still much much faster than it is walking around

The entire way so we just jump right on this guy slows down we can get in and we are headed off and out on the other side now we can come right up here to where it’s uh it’s night time it’s not a good time

For me to be working on this thing is it and that we’ve got to watch out for the smoke there so i want to make sure that we’re really hugging the edge on this line and what we’re gonna do is probably take this guy out here to that layer

And then we can start bringing in a few of these jungle slabs that we have and really starting to etch it up here so it’s stepping up pretty quickly and then from this point we can bring it over a block or two being even and the

Goal is to get it right into there we’re gonna have the entrance being right up in this area now that it’s getting at nighttime maybe we come up here and deal with this a little bit first the city is going to occupy this entire area all the way back into that dark section

Back there i think it’s gonna be super cool having a bit of a cave aspect we’re gonna have a lot of space up here that we can work with and make something really cool now it is gonna be quite deadly making sure that we can actually light this area up

And keep it lit as mobs will be able to spawn the entire day and we’ve got to be careful of that for our villagers please no please no please no okay i don’t know why i’m saying those sounds that’s my nervous sound of the day apparently

Do you ever get attached to a sound where you’re just like yeah your brain just defaults to saying that or your mouth just defaults to doing it whenever you’re just like i don’t know what to do yeah that’s kind of been turned into me recently mine’s

Just been boop boop i don’t know why i’m trying to sound like a robot but i am oh there’s a second one oh he knocked your buddy off goodbye so we’re gonna have a back exit right at the edge of this dome right in here and there’s a creeper up there

That’s definitely gonna fall on top of me but everything else inside of here is a good amount of space for us to use i’m super excited for it the torch spam today doesn’t have to be perfect just enough for us to be able to survive long enough

Oh it was that dude wasn’t it oh it was him is this the most intelligent idea i’ve ever had for building a minecraft base revolving around keeping villagers alive that guy says probably not right over there but you know it’ll be fun it’ll be a good challenge i don’t really care if

The villagers are going to be you know dying too often or anything as long as we keep a live few librarians safe it really doesn’t matter too much the unfortunate part is one of the goals that i set for myself that i’m now realizing is going to make this rather difficult

Is we can’t put the villagers in any sort of a trading hall they all have to be roaming free to explore wherever and whatever they want to do inside of the village we’re going to put a gate on both sides so they can’t actually get out of the

Village because then you know they’re going to somehow fall down there and die but at least with this as is should be pretty entertaining to try and build something on i’m super excited for this project any ideas you’ll have for things before we actually get into the planning phase here

In today’s video let me know down in the comments below i think what i’m gonna do for now is get rid of a lot of these trees and just get rid of a lot of the leaves and see what the landscape actually looks like cleared out almost

All of the trees at this point in time and apparently i’ve revealed a giant pit that actually leads all the way over to the industrial district maybe we can use that at some point in time for a build later on could be kind of a cool way to

Transport back there the more i’ve been looking at this spot the more i’ve been thinking that this hill right here if we brought that down about to this layer that would make it so much cooler looking back into this entire area then we are going to be doing a lot of

Terraforming work just smoothing it out and making sure it’s actually something that we can use because right now this place is gonna be a little hard to work with the current scale that we’re working on and the size of everything it’s gonna be tight it’s gonna be very very tight for how much

Space that we actually have to work on we’ve got a platform now leading us up here on the end of our staircase or whatever the heck this thing our ramp going all the way to the top and we’ve got to figure out a way to

Make it work a little bit better for us i was thinking we could bring in some of these spruce fences and just having them connecting a few spots like that we can skip a few areas where the smoke is coming through for example and then extending it all the way down

Here so we have a little bit of a railing so we don’t fall off too much ourselves but i’m gonna wait on getting the rest of this connected here because i don’t really know where i want to have the ramp part yet of where it’s gonna be finishing and

Going into the gateway that being said one thing i do think we need to tackle and get it done here soon before we actually plan out the entire area is taking down this hill it doesn’t seem to be too crazy large or anything like that and i think

It’s gonna open up our building area quite a lot more so i’m gonna take a little bit of time here and get this thing torn down and there we go we’ve got a little bit of landscaping done now too which is absolutely awesome taking the even faster roundup than taking that

Little guy over this just comes with a little bit of a fall make sure the minecart can pass by and off we go back up into the city well future location of a city is the goal we’ve got to figure out the front entrance area now which i

Thought be really cool and i’m going to get rid of all these i hate them i really want to destroy them all i’m going to go up there with strings soon and stop them all from falling down but for no they’re just going to be here definitely feeling a little bit better

About getting my frustrations out on the vines and i think what i want to do here is having a diagonal area that’s going to go right across this section and i’m thinking maybe we can have the area starting right here this is going to be weird

Because i want to have a little bit of a diagonal staircase going down that’s going to have a lower platform which then will be connecting up into the jungle wood area that we’re creating so if we do this and then what i think the front entrance area should be

Made out of just to make it super clean and smooth is you can come over this way with a bunch of if i could place these blocks correctly a bunch of smooth stone right in here so that’s gonna be three four and five that seems like a good

Amount of space for ourselves and then we could bring some polished black stone right in over here as well and that can be kind of a cool little spot for us then i was thinking outside of this we could bring in some warp wood and create a little pillar so one

Two three four five then the vines or now i have to recount because the vines got in the way one two three four five and i think we can go up to six right there that should be good and i was definitely one short uh we’ll

Figure out how to get back up there in a moment because we’ve got a detail at this tops anyways but on top of these guys just add some extra flare at the base of the pillar what if we brought in some black stone right down there looking all super cool and everything

And so that i don’t fall down here we’re gonna bring in a little bit more of that double dirt action filling everything back into this point and then some future villagers hopefully won’t be falling down through this gap as well these are gonna be exactly symmetrical pillars so we’ll build up one here

Together and i’ll just get the other one in and so what we’re gonna be using is some black stone walls on top of this to help mob proof it and spike it up even further and what i found out after a little bit of testing here

Is that if we actually do something like this the villagers won’t be able to walk through they think that is full blocks and they’re not even going to try and walk through that area so this actually is going to stop the villagers from getting out i had to grab a few more

Black stone walls for us and i think this is going to be pretty cool i did bring in a bunch of gray concrete for us or light gray concrete over here as well as some polished andesite and i thought it’d be kind of fun to work our way

Out moving forwards just a touch so if we bring something out right here and then maybe we use some polished andesite as some breakers right into this point and then bringing this all the way down here i’m assuming the staircase will cover that and then we can just head straight back

Off into this direction where it’s right in here and just move it directly back until we find some point where we want to end the wall which just to bring it into another wall right now is going to be right over here i brought three stacks of the light gray

Concrete with us and hopefully that’ll be enough to be able to fill in a bunch of these walls because we got to send one off that direction too now on top of these guys i did bring in some andesite walls as well so we can just fill that in along

Here again stopping the villagers from being able to get out and then we can do some polished andesite slabs on top of this guy here this is going to be a very manicured area once we get to the building and actually get to doing everything up top so it’ll be totally

Okay just making it look a little gross for now until we fix it later adding some lanterns around the base of these pillars to help mop it a little bit further we can then you might have seen already i have a bunch of the yellow glazed terracotta as well

As the brown as well as the white because we’re gonna be creating that same thing we did on the warehouse down there and just adding it as a diagonal archway right up here because i think it’s going to be really really fun to have let’s go ahead and start right here i’m

Thinking and we can do a spruce stair sticking out this way and then maybe we do another one right out this way we figure out and i think something like this along the bottom could be really good and then i did bring trapdoors perfect let’s go ahead and do that stuff

And then we can add in the yellow glaze terracotta right out here on the sides that’s going to be kind of doing its own thing i don’t really care which way these ones face it’s going to be really hard to make it perfect from both sides since we are

Working on a diagonal and you can see the front and the back we’re just going to kind of ignore it and it’ll be here for the colors what i wanted to do on these sides over here is adding a little bit more color into this build is where you can

Add in these crimson wood or the crimson trapdoors right in there i think those things are awesome they’re bringing in a few of the chiseled black stone bits right there so we get our little piggy snout maybe looks like a vent or something who really knows not to me and now we’ve got

To figure out how we can get nice little toppers off on all of these guys i i’m thinking i didn’t bring them on me but i was thinking as i was working through this stuff it’d be kind of fun to add a redstone torch up to the top of

That i believe we’ve done that in a few locations like right there yeah on top of the windmills that same sort of topper i think that’d be really fun having that up here too taking a brief step back here after we bring down all of the dirt

Most of this top section should be completed we’ll see it from this back side before we finish up the front and i kind of love that i know it’s a little weird i know it’s a little wonky with all of the colors in there and everything but i think it’s kind of cool

Playing a little game of inventory swap wear back up here ready to go where we can start bringing down the actual stairs section and i wanted to just have it start stepping down a slab at a time so we can use some dummy blocks right in there grab some of

Our full blocks here again and then doing that same little bit right back out to here and then at this point i don’t think i’m going to have enough to be able to get all the light gray concrete going around because oh actually we do have an extra stack in

Here because i wanted to do this and then this is where we’re going to send a lot of concrete unfortunately is i needed to bring this line all the way up to here we’ll eventually figure out how to add that down to the base right

Now it might just be a little floaty but that’s okay we’re just trying to get the base ideas of the city in and get the shapes down here so we know what we can start working with when we want to start building everything bring in the endocyte walls again we can

Do some of these guys looping all the way around i don’t think i’m going to add the slabs on top because we could instead have it being like that is the grand city wall up there and then down here we just throw a few lanterns on these for

Ourselves definitely need a few lanterns out here on the walkway moving up too so that it’s a bit safer as we’re moving across but i think that’s really cool i think that’s a great first start to get everything set up in here can zombies even walk through this

That’s a big question are you going to walk down here no you’re trying to go around can i walk back here you’re coming back to me no he’s still trying to go around you just we’re just yep just come on through no okay you could just yeah no that’s fine

Yeah you did a great job thanks for being a test dummy moving on to the next stuff of actually planning out our new village city whatever the heck we’re calling it i did take the time to tame back the vines put all the string up there very happy about making that decision

And i’ve got a book in my hand that we’ll be taking a look at momentarily because this is going to be our plan our plan of what we are including inside of this city up here it’s a list of all the different structures that i want to have and everything else that we’re

Going to do up here and there’s still the dead zombie anything else happening around here nope nope no mobs this is what i’m calling the flip city building essentials a few of the things we’ve already tackled down below for example number one being a storage room to put all your junk while you’re

Building the city number two in this case is going to be a library so we can get the librarian villagers rocket then i want to have an office for myself i don’t have some area where i can survey the land and have a great view of the ocean out here

Looking over everything that we’re going to be building out here eventually floating in the water in the air wherever it might be so maybe we can do right up there or we could put our office way back in that area basically a giant mansion manor house for ourselves

Or even right up here i don’t really know moving on though we’ve got the stone masonry because we are using a fair amount of bricks just just a fair amount so we need to get a lot of those guys moving outside of that we gotta have a city

Center so somewhere which i’m thinking will probably be this little spot right in here where we can have all the villagers hanging out they can walk around have a few market stalls and stands and stuff then a sewer system because i want to have a way to get into the industrial

Area from here so we’ll drop down we just go over here that way it’ll be really cool tool smith’s airship factory which will probably be something like armor smith’s weapon smith tool smith all built into one a power station because i think it’d be really cool to

Have we can have it operating off of this waterfall of sorts over here we’ve got to get a bakery so we can get the farmer villagers a butcher for the butcher villagers we already got the smithy kind of taken care of observatory which we’re gonna have all of the cartographers inside of which

Will probably be over this way with like a giants telescope looking into the sky gonna be super cool outside of that i want to have a brewery a bar in a dance hall because it’s steampunk jukeboxes makes sense and we can have a really cool area for everybody to hang out

And i figured that’d be hidden inside the mountain so we have a large large amount of space to work with for the interior finally on top of that we gotta have a grocery store as well as a vault for all of our diamonds our riches and everything else any other ideas you have

Beyond these 16 be sure to let me know down in the comments below moving on from that though is we’ve been reading the book for quite a while and i want to get some base lines in here for where we might include some buildings i don’t quite know where they’re going to

Go yet and i think this might be better if i show you all the end result here so let me get some work done the city planning has been going pretty well and i’ve got a bunch of stuff over here now i’m super excited about building this one up so we’ve got a

Little spot for the observatory over here we’ve got something going over here probably that power station i was talking about since we have the water fall coming out of the cliff we’ll fix that one up and make it a little bit more interesting the city center will be in this area

We’ve got another build there there here and one thing that i wanted to recommend for anybody who tries to lay out a lot of builds and things like that is use different blocks i know it’s diorite i know it’s granite and i know it’s cobblestone but it’s easy to tell

The three apart so it’s really easy to be like oh there’s one structure here’s another one and here’s another one one thing i’m super excited about about working in this area is we’re a little confined on the amount of space that we have for the sides that are showing

Like we only have enough room for like a three wide pathway i think i might honestly push this guy back a little bit when we get to actually building so we can have some more fun experimenting with build styles and some more decorations on the streets and everything like that

But we have all of the area inside of the cliff so as long as we can build a front facade for a structure everything else can be just be hidden inside and then we actually have a lot more space to work with on the interior which

Is gonna be super fun so like this cobblestone structure right here is probably one of the only structures we have that we’re gonna have to build all four walls of and even one of those walls being this guy right here is actually connected on exactly where we’re having this diorite structure

And then these over here we’ve got little pathways and things which are gonna loop up that way and we’ll have some houses and things upon the cliffs i decided to leave uh we’re in a hole but as i was gonna say i decided to leave a lot of the larger factory things

Out of here for now because i think it’ll be fun to have those being more apparent on the build instead of just being a building inside the city we’re trying to make a factory to build airships that thing would probably be pretty massive because that’s our smallest airship well the

Only airship we have so far but that thing is pretty tiny we need a factory to be able to build those things so that’s probably going to be a large hangar bay maybe all the way up there so we won’t have any villagers in it but it’d be a

Really cool build just to have around the area and that’s kind of where i’m going to leave this one off here for today let me know anything else that you want to be seeing included inside of the city what you think about the plan and all of

That stuff i would say this open area a lot of it’s going gonna be transformed into some stone walkways and cool city structures i want this area to look very posh and very rich and very luxurious and just so so fancy where we’re gonna have all of our
