MINECON Earth 2018 – The Reveal of Minecraft Dungeons!

♪♪ >> Please welcome back Lydia Winters and joining her, Saxs Persson. [cheers and applause] >> Hi, Lydia. >> Hi, Saxs. >> Like I promised at the beginning of the show, we have a really exciting announcement to make today. >> We sure do, Lydia. It’s kind of nervewracking standing here.

As you know, we’re always striving to build and evolve the Minecraft universe. We’ve gone into fiction books starting with a Max Brooks novel, we’re working on an upcoming movie, and now we are looking into the future. >> Lydia: Saxs, are you about to tell everyone we’re going to have a Minecraft 2?

>> Saxs: No such thing needed. Over the past nine years we have done over ten major updates to the Java edition alone. So, while I know people love sequels, Minecraft is way past Minecraft 2 already. >> That’s true. >> It’s a game that’s always changing and expanding.

Now what we’re going to talk about today is where we want to take the Minecraft universe next? >> So you’re going to tell us about the future? [laughter] >> Yeah, like I mentioned, we’ve been expanding with stories, but since we love games we want to expand the Minecraft universe with new games.

Stand-alone games in the blocky Minecraft style that you know and love, but with new stories and new game genres. >> Saxs, it sounds like you’re saying there might be new games like plural? >> Saxs: Yeah, that’s right. Lydia. There are multiple new projects in the works. And today, we’re ready to give

You all a peek at one project which has been very near and dear to the Mojang team. >> Lydia: that’s true, Saxs. We’ve had a small but passionate and dedicated team at Mojang working on something truly special. I know we’re all excited to finally be able to talk about this project.
