Minecraft Adjustable Hopper Timer Tutorial

Get a today I’m gonna be showing you how to build a hopper timer or delay in Minecraft then you’re probably wondering what the flame and gle are am I gonna do with a hopper timer or delay well just say you wanted adjust how long these piston doors stay open for well you

Could do that with a hopper timer very simple stuff so if you smashed the button here you’ll notice straight away that this piston door is staying open for a long period of time which is being controlled by the hopper timer if you can adjust it at your will which is

Awesome oh just say you wanted to crush some zombies so you wanted a piston to extend for a period of time well the hopper timer will do that for you too all right let’s build this hopper timer or delay whatever you want to call it it all starts with a single block place

That single block down then I’m gonna go ahead and grab a hopper am I gonna pretty much run that hop it directly into that block then we’re going to break that block then we’re gonna run another hopper into the other hopper like so so it looks like they now

Kissing each other they’re the kissing hoppers back and forwards now you’re gonna take your compare Raider and you’re gonna come to your first blockier then facing out ways you’re gonna place the comparator then you’re going to get a redstone repeater and on your second hopper here you’re gonna run the

Redstone repeater facing directly into it like so you can go ahead and pause if you need to play catch-up alright now next step go ahead and grab your cobblestone block and place it next to your comparator here then we’re gonna go torch a redstone torch and place it

Here okay should be looking like this so I’m going to come back to your first hopper here and place a block like so then we’re gonna need a bit of redstone yep beat a redstone Chad forgot and we’re going to connect that torch to this block here by running it

Over the top this will also connect into the comparator okay now swing around the other side on your second block here and you’re gonna play it want to place a single place of redstone dust yeah okay looking good looking good she is now complete okay now you’re probably wondering hey data okay now

That we’ve built it how the flame Guillard does it all work how do we get our signal our to our door our piston or whatever you’re using well I’ll show you how so first things first we want we want to get our signal that’s right let’s do that first so at the second

Hopper here next to your repeater block you’re gonna put a redstone comparator followed by a redstone repeater that’s just that’s just giving off the signal you can run that wherever you need the signal for an example I want a piston I want this piston to stay up for 10

Seconds before going back down okay that’s just an example they’re going to come back to our first very first hopper here and what we’re gonna do is place some items in I’ve got 32 cobblestone placed in there probably a bit too much now each block I think represents half a

Second so you know you can go ahead I’m gonna put a 16 blocks in there just just just for an example the longer the more blocks you put in here the longer the delay will happen the longer the piston will stay up okay that you probably like okay well how do

You turn it all on well you just power this block here with the torch so you can either run a redstone signal from far away have a button on there like that or you can directly power that block there and it will still work so let’s go ahead and power that block oh

Look there we go we got our piston extended it is now on a nice delay as I said you can adjust it as long as you want just by adding more items of the same thing inside that first topper there we go how brilliant is that very

Simple you can have that hooked into as I was saying before a longer piston door open or a crusher that you want to set the certain amount of seconds to crash for yeah there’s a lot of useful things or maybe even a timer to say hey I’m

Gonna fill it full not almost full of cobblestone and I want a huge delay for a farm to go off but just remember do you not feel the last one so only fill the first four slots always leave one slot available okay that’s just a tip

For me so you can feel a little completely up and it’s a nice long timer now you know how to build it and now you know how it you know how how to adjust the delay and all that good stuff you’re probably gonna row alright well how does

Probably already figured out that the items here all these stacks of items whatever you put in here which is ours just sixteen transfers slowly one block at a time over to this hopper here which actually sets off the comparator and then sets off our repeater and sends

Out the signal okay that’s pretty much how it actually works that that little part there that’s our time delay that’s why we can adjust it so the more items we add in here the longer it takes to go into here the longer the signal stays on for that’s that part there now let’s

Talk about the actual redstone side of things probably let’s start with this this side and then we’ll start with this side okay so right what’s happening right now is why are these why aren’t these these these cobblestone transfer because it is facing into another hopper it should be transferring right no wrong

This block here has been powered which turns off our hopper yes our hoppers actually switched off because it’s been powered by this block here which has been powered by a redstone torch that’s where we have dust running up on that block that block is now on which is affecting the hopper is

Turning the hopper off it’s not allowing a transfer so what will actually happen is when I press this button here okay when I press this button here it’s gonna turn off the torch it’s gonna turn off this block and allow the transfer also see how this redstone signals going

To the side of this comparator it’s pretty much turning off the comparator as well you notice that we have blocks in here but we have no signal coming out remember a comparator pretty much reads how many boxes in there and puts out a signal right right well why isn’t that

Why isn’t that on walls because this power going into the side of the comparator as well so as soon as we switch this button what’s actually gonna happen torch turns off comparator turns on hopper line starts transferring now this comparator is turned on which is also let’s start next door now is power

That comparators now powering this this block is powering this redstone dust and is also keeping off the redstone torch so now this redstone dust has been powered this repeaters been powered and then this hop has been powered so what that’s actually doing is turning off the transfer back okay so pretty much it

Allows it what I’m trying to say it allows the sixteen items to build up in here soon as those 16 items are built up well guess what in this first hopper there’s no no items left anymore so that signal from the comparator right you following that that signal from the

Comparator is gonna literally turn back off allowing this redstone torch to turn on then you know turning dis activating the comparator again and dis activating the the hopper again and then the items will now transfer back and yeah that’s pretty much how it works so hopefully I

Explained it I try to explain as the best I can in what’s going on here but I’ll show you we’ll press the button now and you could sort of watch it in action ready you gonna you ready for this pressing button comparators turned on which is powering this which is powering

That allowing the items to build up no more items in there torch turn back on items now transferred it trance transferring back to later add more items like to put an entire stack your Nebo a longer delay items are transferring slowly compared at is on which is turning torch off

Which is turning the neighbor on allowing the the items to build up so this R this hopper is now forcing items into this but since it’s been powered now all Bennett can’t force items back straightaway it’s got to keep those items until these powers off and then

I’ll transfer them back and I’ll try and start transferring back any second out because there’s no hop no items left there no items will be stopped transfer transferring back and literally that’s how it works until all these items are done in this this hopper he well then

The delay that’s why the more items you have in there valve well the longer the delay and that’s pretty much how it works hopefully you have explained it so you have roughly understand but this thing he could be used for so many things guys to crushers to doors you

Name it this of all turning on chicken cookers you know you name it is if you put a whole bunch of of items in here just do not fill up the end one and then you press the button it takes quite a long time for every one of these stacks

To transfer into here and transfer back then the signal will turn off so quite a long delay if you need one now there is a lot there’s other larger ones versions of this which you can get like up to 7.5 minute delays which is even crazier but
