What’s up everyone how you doing the blue net here and welcome back my friends to another minecraft a building tips video today we’re going to talk about how to plan and build a village in minecraft now i know there’s been a lot of questions on the channel so hopefully Guys this video will cover some of the basics and some of the principles that i follow when trying to build a village in minecraft now first of all the most important thing here is to make sure that you are happy with the area you’re going to be Building in find a nice spot that is suited to your needs and make sure that you’re going to be happy with it make sure the surrounding area is kind of nice and it’s got the sort of look that you want to it because you don’t want to build something that’s Right in the middle of nowhere and then once you build it you’re like man i wish there was a load of sort of trees or mountains or something around this it’s just going to save a lot of work in the long run so for me guys i like to build in the Plains area and i like an area where the terrain has a sort of a little bit of variation in height but nothing too crazy okay so it’s quite easy to build on but there’s enough sort of height and variation so that we can build some nice interesting points in the village Now for today’s video guys i am going to be using a little bit of world edit but this can be done in survival so don’t worry about it and with that being said let’s dive straight in and get started so before you start guys you want to Make sure that you’ve got a bunch of different blocks so that you can kind of outline and sort of make a few plans but use a different block for each point so first of all go ahead and clear out a little bit of space so if you’ve got any Trees in your way any grass or flowers or things like that just go and clear it all out of the way this just makes it a little bit easier for building you don’t have to go as crazy as i am in the video but just clear a bit of space out of the Way this way when you’re placing blocks and you’re placing um down pathways and stuff like that you haven’t got to worry about trying to remove the grass on your way because it will slow you down so kind of get that bit of work out of the way first Once you’re done you want to go ahead and start smoothing out some of the land anywhere you’ve got like these holes and stuff like that when you’re building in place bombs you do tend to get a lot of holes so go ahead and fill all the holes In in the mountains or in this cliff sides in the ground and stuff like that and you don’t have to go too crazy here guys just blend them into the into the land don’t make nothing too crazy because you can always come back and change it later on at the moment you Just want to kind of create a nice canvas for yourself so just go smooth out anywhere that’s a little bit too bumpy if you’ve got any rough edges where the uh where the terrain is just make sure you smooth it out a little bit blend it in with some other parts of terrain And kind of just give yourself a nice smooth area for working in now i know a lot of people don’t like working on terrain and they said it’s you know it’s a big job and it can be a big job but you don’t have to make it that difficult for yourself you know Just cover in your holes and once you’re covering the holes just make sure you smooth off any areas around you know just by placing in a few blocks and don’t be afraid of just messing around if you don’t like the placement of it you can always change it so don’t be Afraid of experimenting a bit to sort of mess around with the land and see you know see if you can create a nice bit of shape and a smooth curves the most important thing is to try and avoid any jaggy lines you know with either long straight edges or too many heavy jaggy Lines just try and create lines around the terrain that’s pretty smooth once you’ve done that guys just go ahead and remove any bits of grass and stuff that’s just randomly poking out so like if you have a small block of grass on that just remove it so it’s out of the Way and again make sure that you cover in all of your holes and everything like that now over here guys i’m just going to cover in some of the holes on this side of the land as well as we may come back later on and work on this side as Well so i’m just going to quickly clear this all up so it’s just ready the idea is basically here we kept creating a clean canvas to kind of work from now obviously you haven’t got to go this crazy if you are in survival because this sort of work will take a long time But just keep it simple and just get everything ready and prepared for yourself so that you can start working on it now once you’re done the first thing you want to do is work out about four or five main paths into your village i wouldn’t go for more than five and you Probably want to keep no no less than sort of three okay so somewhere between three and five and just outline them with a block so use one block okay one block only and use the same block to mark down all of your main pathways okay now these are Only gonna be the large pathways and not small pathways these are just gonna be your main pathways and mark out any bridges or stuff like that that you may have going across any rivers okay and again guys we’re only marking out here this can all be changed later On we’re only looking to sort of give ourselves a basic guide here of where we’re going to be going now once you’re happy and you’ve got all your pathways in start getting get another block something that’s different to the block you use for your path and start making these dotted lines like This to work out roughly an idea of where you might want some small pathways okay something that may go in between some houses or around the back of houses and stuff like that and again don’t worry if none of this is accurate this is just giving yourself a basic idea i Like to follow some of the little areas of terrain so if you have a bit of area where the terrain is lowered by one block or raised by a block i like falling around the inside edges because you can make some nice pathways that kind of sit in a groove or sit on The top of a part of a pot of a part of the terrain so as you can see a lot of these parts fall around the edges of the terrain now mess around with your pathways until you’re happy guys and uh like i say it doesn’t matter if this is not going to Be an accurate place in because we can change it as we’re going along we just want a rough idea we want to get a rough picture of the sort of shape of the uh of the village once you’re done choose again a different block here i’m using the blue Block and this is gonna be for some main houses okay i’m gonna start with some main houses first of all to outline but usually i would probably start by outlining some smaller houses but today i’m going to start by outlining some large main houses because i want them at The front of this village so here as you can see i’m just putting some basic shapes here for some houses again guys none of this is permanent because we can change this along the way okay once you’ve got some of that in change your block again and go for Something that you’re going to be using maybe some medium houses maybe at this point this is going to be a few small shops as well and stuff like that so just go ahead and pop in a few kind of houses use different shapes and stuff like that just to give yourself an idea But like i say these can all change as you’re building okay there’s no set plan here we’re just kind of giving ourselves a kind of guides to follow while building now once you’ve got some of your green houses in as you can see i’ve got the green the green concrete here and this Is just again just to give me a guide for the houses i don’t tend to put them sort of surrounding by the pathways but what i tend to do is curve them around so you get almost like a little street of houses you know they don’t have to be Completely connected but just kind of close to each other you know i tend to like these little villages really nice with compact little house scenarios and small paths going between them all now once you’ve done that get again another block and this is gonna be for the smallest houses okay now the smaller Houses i tend to space them out a little bit more because sometimes we i put little crop fields or little sort of gardens next to them so go ahead and place in a few smaller houses and again guys make sure you’re using different blocks for each of the different things You’re building you know whether it’s your large pathway your small pathway your small houses large medium use a different block for each one so you can kind of see exactly what you what your sort of layout is and it gives you a better view of everything You know now you don’t have to use the color concrete like i am i know these are much harder to gather up in survival but you could use things like cobblestone dirt coaster gravel planks you know you’ve got all your different styles of planks logs you know anything that’s easy to gather Up you know even like your die right and granite you know anything that’s easy to gather up and mark you know now once you’ve done that guys another thing to start doing at the end is just marking in a few places where you might like maybe some little market Stalls small vendors and stuff like that so go ahead and just put a few markings in where you might want those to sit again nothing too too perfect here just a rough guide you know the most important thing for building is just keeping a rough guide You haven’t got to go crazy and you haven’t got to have an understanding of how a village lays out just place things as you go along you know don’t overthink it i think the problem that a lot of people have is they over think when they’re trying to build you Know try to get too technical with it and you really don’t need to you know minecraft is all about having fun so go ahead and just have a bit of fun and mess around with it don’t don’t take it too seriously now once you’ve done that guys you Should get have a good idea of the layout of your village and if you want to you haven’t got to you can start laying down a kind of a outer wall if you want a wall around your village now for this village here i’m not going To go too crazy with the walls but with the orange concrete as you can see i’m laying out a sort of plan for some walls and a little gate over at the back there now again guys this is not necessarily a guaranteed line this is just a rough Idea okay and again make sure you’re using a different block here when you’re building this guys when you’re putting in the line for a wall because this will just give you a better idea of each individual things okay it’s very important to make sure that you can Understand your layout as well as kind of get a good vision for it and i think the different plots allow you to get that not that vision in your head of kind of what you’re going for you know so i hope that i hope that kind of makes sense guys now Once you’ve done that that is pretty much a layout that you would have now for your village and now that you’ve got all of your houses in your shops and stuff like that now the most important thing to remember is that although we’ve got we’ve got this Stuff down here and i said before that we don’t have to follow it this doesn’t have to be everything okay you don’t have to plot down a marking for every single house you know here i’m gonna go ahead and i’m gonna use the purple and i’m gonna just Make a marking for a like a town hall you know something that’s a bit of a larger building here and if you have any plans for larger builds in your town maybe go ahead and mark those in there as well um again using a different block guys But like i say makes you you haven’t got to completely fill your entire space with markings for houses okay this is a rough guide so once you start building we can plop more houses in as we go along and i will definitely do that as i’m building i always make a few Markings but i never mark out everything that i’m gonna build um because you don’t know as you’re building how everything’s gonna take shape you know you don’t know sort of whether you’re gonna end up building a another house off of another one you started and then that’s gonna mess something else up So just remember the layout here is just purely just to give you a rough idea of how you’re gonna go about your village now once you’ve got everything in and your markings are all done you’re gonna have something that probably looks a bit like this just with obviously some different blocks but The most important thing to remember guys is to just have fun with it have fun while you’re building and lay things out just as you’re going along you know don’t there’s no technical side to doing it there is no sort of heavy thinking about it just plop down a layout once You start actually building you’ll start to get gather a picture of everything and it’ll all just start coming together you know so be sure to just you know have fun mess around place a load of stuff about just to give you a rough idea The roads are going to be one of the key things because you want to place a lot of your buildings alongside your roads so make sure that you kind of try to place your fields around the outside of the roads and again it depends how you want to go With your village whether you want houses spaced out or close together you know so kind of think about that while you’re placing your stuff as well i will end up covering a lot more houses in here than you can see but this is just to give me a basic idea of where i’m Going with the village now guys this is gonna be the part one i will be coming back with part two where we’re gonna talk more about what i do when i’m actually thinking for building but let me just say while i build things i normally start at an entrance so i’ll Look roughly to where i want an entrance on on a build and i’ll try to start from the entrance and i’ll start with one main building you know now it doesn’t matter if it’s at an entrance it can be in the middle of the town it doesn’t Matter but start with one main building yeah get your main build all in place and build it up once you’ve got that build in place take a step back have a look at what you’ve got and just think about where your roads are start landing a few of Your roads and building your roads again you don’t have to do don’t go too crazy start your roads with say some some grass paths and here guys with your grass pass don’t make them straight don’t make them straight make them curved okay they you get so much more of A nicer look to a village when you have the curved lines and puffs around it just creates so much more of an atmosphere and so much more of a kind of organic look rather than opposed to something that feels like it’s just been stuck there and it’s just a straight path I’m not a fan of straight paths so try to keep as many curves in your pathways as you can once you’ve done you once you’ve done some of your pathway around your house and stuff you’ll start to get a picture and you can start adding in another House nearer so start building your next house or maybe a little butchers or whatever issue plan you know build up your butchers and then start to get a vision for something else that might attach nicely and just slowly expand from there okay don’t don’t rush don’t Try and sort of plan too far ahead and don’t jump to the other side of the town and start building just stay where you are and work from that you know decorate one house put some bushes outside put some little walls put some fences you know add in Some flowers and stuff make it look nice and then move on to the next building because when you add the greenery and the stuff as you go along it gives you more of an idea and you kind of get a better picture of where other things Might look quite nice you know if you just start putting a building here and a building there and a building there in the building and then try and decorate after you know you’re not gonna kind you’re not giving yourself something to vision you know if you see a nice bush You might think yourself oh that bush would be really nice if we follow it around the background we can follow it into a nice field or a nice big pond or a little garden or something like that so you know do do your sort of your your neatening up with things and your Little add in your little decorations and stuff do it as you’re going along because if you do it as you’re going along on the outside you haven’t got to decorate the inside you can do the outsides first you know do the outsides because it just give you a better picture in your head Um for building and it gives you much more of an idea of where you might like to place your next house or where you know where where your next garden is going to be you know where the next field is going to be you know it just it Gives you a better understanding of that anyway
