Hallo zusammen! Today i a german native speaker and language teacher here on youtube will react to tubo playing minecraft in german i don’t know if he knows a little bit about the language so let’s just find out i’d say All right so before we’re going to start one quick but important thing that i want to point out here is that each time i’m making these kinds of reaction videos linguistically speaking i might correct what someone says in this video if it’s wrong verbally like phonetically but that Doesn’t mean that i’m criticizing the person it’s nothing against the person oh my god that’s it have a good stream smile okay pumpkin derek singular the curb is a plural is that in german yes oh is this a deutsche yeah correct i guess i’m not too sure but maybe the term Deutschland is also quite familiar and quite known in foreign countries english-speaking countries for instance apart from germany i don’t know okay does vickstar approve of pog what the hell wow i love this because he immediately gets bombarded with something that is so typical and maybe the most typical thing when it Comes to the german language and how words are created in our language which is making up compound words adding words or pieces of words syllables to pretty much build and create a whole new word with added meanings you know a new semantic context and in this case it’s you know i mean That’s pretty much das compositum singular decompositor plural the compound term in a nutshell and the problem i guess many people have with this if they aren’t familiar with this is they can’t really see where certain syllables of the word start and where they end which pieces this term actually consists Of so in this case it’s schwarz black eichen oak or in this case the plural form oaks das holtz singular di hulsa plural the wood and bretta the board the wooden board so to speak so it’s pretty much the black oak wood board nikki learning great Is not it is trust me it is that’s sorry for pausing this so often but there are so many things that can be explained about all these kinds of these kinds of things and why english speakers to put it in general terms might be struggling with certain pronunciations in this case It’s the se ha the ch sound there is a light form of it and there’s a slightly darker form of it which applies to this term to this noun das buch singula di buja plura the book so in this case it’s a more throaty kind of sound what the hell see What zitch and how’s breath huh and there’s a spyro nice i’m a massive spyro fan so that is cool by the way this would be deardraghe singular the drachen plural the dragon and once again we have the throaty ch in that good luck in manberg So with this term dear upfro singular d apfel plural you might be able to guess what it means simply from the look of it because there is a quite similar english term the apple the consonant combination pfpf came out of the so-called zveiter lautferschibong which was pretty much the step from Low german to high german the standard german we’re speaking today the low german term for apple is actually pretty similar to the english one which would be ape so there is a bigger similarity there even with this term i guess people might be able to guess the meaning just By the look of it i don’t know yeah close president plural we have so many different types of bread it’s not even funny anymore and of course also the german er might be one of the most one of the toughest things for learners i could imagine because it’s very different to Especially the american english r that is a sound that we don’t have in german so in this case it’s brought with a slightly stressed longer german vowel o but there’s a trick to many other german terms for instance with a double consonant a double t in them for instance And we have seen something like that before beretta you might have noticed the double t consonant in the middle and the vowel directly in front of it that indicates that the vowel is short all nouns have to be capitalized no matter where they appear within a sentence I have no idea what i’m doing wait oh that’s okay sometimes germans don’t know what they are doing or saying either because they might be struggling with commas and sometimes whether they need to actually spell dust with one s or does with double s so there are a few things that Native speakers in the german language also struggle with so broach sting if he is familiar with beer and stuff like that he might have been able to pronounce that a bit more accordingly to what’s correct but i guess he is not in this case it’s d’erstein singular d steiner Plural it might as well be a loan words today in english from german but in this original german context it’s der stein i don’t know i don’t know which one closes oh my birthday i don’t i’m sorry i’m just enjoying typing in german hey okay so this is deretsuka Singular and i don’t think there is a plural term if there is one people usually wouldn’t use it and the other thing exactly once again a compound word consisting of di melone singular di melonen plural the melon and schaiber is The slice it’s a melon slice slice of melon okay nikki vc me really quick hello nikki why are there no spaces in german are they not pizzas yeah do they not have this no they’re on i’m looking at it there’s no spaces like what do you mean i guess he’s actually referring to The fact that we usually have the tendency to spell words together as one unit we rarely use hyphens deb industry singular deep industry plural some people might prefer using hyphens instead of writing an overly long compound word which might be hard to read for people that might not be as Familiar with the german language so but in general there are many compound words in the german language hover over a minecraft item there’s no spaces oh i have the i have it in english oh okay there’s no spaces we just have really long words there is no space no problem So down there you can see eisen axed once again a compound word das eisen singular d eisen plura the iron and the axed singular the extra plural with the umlaut air so it’s the iron x you have an axe you have an axe no i have a sword Honestly i have no idea dear diamond stiffer or plural di diamond stiffer once again the plural article d here what i switched to you is sich zoo free oh that is schutz drai there shoots the protection and this is the roman 3 the number drai sorry i’m very i’m enjoy i’m enjoying the The the german feel this server now as well we’ve gained so much culture we’ve gained so much culture i’m glad you enjoyed it i hate playing games in german i when i played league of legends all my friends had it in in german and i always had it in english Because i didn’t like it fair enough where’s fundy then oh my god my pickaxe with glock 3. with gluck uh reminds me of the glucken in and that kind of stuff but it’s actually an oo the umlaut a u with two dots over it dear um singular di um lauter Plural not umlauts by the way and there are three of them in the german language and in this case it’s the u so it’s gluck das gluck i have glock three and hope barry connect three and efficiency yeah that’s luck look is luck so fortune is Yeah it’s like do you not have multiple words for luck this is an interesting topic i might get a bit philosophical here for a few seconds but when you think about it luck doesn’t always have to be the same as happiness luck might only be something that really flies by And just is there temporarily just happens within a moment and then it’s gone but you can actually translate that to the same term in german thus gluck which is cool in a way but it can also be quite tricky when you really want to express The one aspect of it and not the other one the short-lived one for instance so yeah uh no then why do you have words that are honestly an entire a4 spread of a page like okay like an an epson because spaces are expensive what do you think of my app sign hex buckle Absent hits speckle but funny enough actually coincidentally he actually said a really existing german term a different one which is the second one here sein to be what is that there is a specific type of s we have in the german alphabet actually that’s a special letter This is the s set das s set does charge s colloquially speaking thus as set and you can find that in popular terms such as scheisse [ __ ] that is an s-set which is basically a double s it’s a sharp s we call it a sharp s yes which is perfectly explained so Big thumbs up for that oh my god nikki there’s a puffer fish down here where are you get down here get down and get down here i’ve got a bucket i’ve got a bucket i’m going to get it i’m going to get it i got it get it yeah good job let’s go Scabe oh my god precious the language output basically and by the way a couple of seconds ago down there you actually saw the term der kugelfusch aimer and that is such a good example for how creative the german language can be because that is an occasionalism in a way a word that is Pretty much made up just for this specific context and then you know you can forget about it pretty much but even though it’s made up for this specific context it’s like the kugelfischeima every german understands what it means because germans can dissect the term and see its different components google Fish google fish is one and ima you can pretty much make up any german words and every german will immediately know what it means or if it’s not too specific of course what it could mean at least wait wait wait wait that’s like funny i have a funny idea come to the door Come to the come to the door come to the door you ready are you ready i’m ready i’m ready even though out is ours in german you wouldn’t say aus like go out leave but germans would actually say aus when they would speak to their dog if they are actually doing something Wrong that they aren’t intended to do the german dog owner would definitely say aus as a command right so there it’s pretty much common i have a nonch would you like a notch take my notch there is the ch again by the way if you want to have a an Example an example term for the lighter sounding just think of the first person personal pronoun in singular ish nominativ like a snake pretty much type of sound hissing sound i feel so german right now i feel like i just need like sausages and then i’ve completed it i just I actually had sausages for dinner and beer how do you say sausages in german uh verstion okay that’s a bit too much diamond spits hackle and of course it’s also really cool that she actually explains stuff or tries to explain stuff here and there i really really appreciate that But apart from that i always thought that the worst or at least das verstien which is the minimized form of divorced the little sausage das is also quite well known in english-speaking countries like s-terms the currywurst or something like that i don’t know like so i thought That is a thing but might not be as much of a thing maybe more so in america i’m not sure bundy i have diamond hits pic hackled you you you’ve booped me with the diamond speech hacker no that’s not how you say it it’s the diamond tits bit tackle tits buddy Correctly pronounced deutsch yes great ready yeah read the name of the picker [Laughter] diamond that was really close so the only thing that he sort of got wrong if i heard it correctly was the uh spits thing not spits but then again that is really hard to figure out because When you don’t know that there’s no way of telling that this could or needs to be pronounced this way in this situation right so yeah but good job would you like an epstein-basic hacker as well dude yo this diamond speech hacker is enchanted with gluck iii wow and glueck was also really close Gluck and diamand spitzaker it’s got glue would you like to see a confessed chick clamia i would love to oh google fish but that was also really close he sort of actually well merged the fish and ima fisheima but apart from that the kugelfish ima wow would you like i I very good very well pronounced actually because i could actually be something that many i guess foreign speakers who just learn german might have a hard time with because it might be confusing they might say something like e i’ve done it i’ve done it what of it yeah i’ve done it too I’ve done a diamond pick a ticket no oh my god thank you so much for the file wait where is and that also very interesting well this is a really cool german lesson actually in terms of little details that i can explain to you guys which might get lost sometimes or might Be overlooked even in the case of their file singular deep file plural the arrow you might have heard me pronouncing it really articulate like file pf file but truth be told in 9 out of 10 cases germans just say file like a single f file because it’s easier to verbalize You what would you would you like would you like a bus you gold goldener apple well yeah apple was kind of close yeah fatsobata goldener upfro the enchanted golden apple because why not all right swap back swap back swap back [ __ ] oh [ __ ] oh wait [ __ ] [ __ ] up yeah it’s the fuckl singular The [ __ ] plural doesn’t have anything to do with [ __ ] you know it sounds like that but it doesn’t have anything to do with that it’s the torch the [ __ ] all right guys i know this was a longer video this time around but i hope you still enjoyed it if you’re Watching this i hope you weren’t offended by anything i said i just tried to really explain stuff in detail in context of my well german language channel that is pretty much the purpose here i really enjoyed watching this video and i
