Hey guys ran back we’re here continuing my mad science playthrough i mentioned that we’re going to take a look at some BuildCraft stuff to acquire lots of materials but up i need to do a little recap first on what i’ve done between that video and this one so i built a Couple more of these like glowstone aggregator things and one glowstone block above them powers all three they can get light from an adjacent one or one you know right above it so this um makes my destruction catalyst get a lot more use I took my destruction catalyst And I made a nice little tunnel here that goes all the way down to bedrock see way the down there um and this was very quick to make the tunnel down and then very tedious to make the little shitty steps going around it I ran into A couple caves a couple times and I had to close those off so all these places where you see like walls of Kabul it’s because this was like a giant gaping monster felled cavern and I just did not feel like dealing with that so i Wold it all off and i kept thinking digging down with my little destruction catalyst and then at the bottom of course for maximum fun there was lava lots of it but science and the destruction catalyst and a lot of water triumphed over the evil lava so i tunneled all the way Down a little bit more and this put us right at bedrock and this if you haven’t seen this before is the new like fog code that occurs when you’re down very low that’s why it looks very dark down here it’s not for lack of lighting i have a ton of torches up but Even with torches and with fog turned all the way off you still get like it’s on a fog sort of all over the place here so yeah this is my little mine and by little I mean it’s actually kind of long because it’s very easy to mine with the destruction catalyst you Just like charge it up and then bam that’s like an absurdly long tunnel wow look at all that and I mind as you can see kind of like a lot of and now we’re going to go turn it into diamonds I’ve already transmuted some of it but I figured out A neat little trick with Industrial Craft to make the process a lot more efficient so that’s what I’m going to show you guys next alright so the basics of alchemy right is to take your kabul and all your miscellaneous junk and to upscale it into diamond now I figured Out a little trick that makes this a lot more efficient like literally twice as efficient you get twice as many diamonds out of you know any quantity of materials so that’s what I’m going to demonstrate next so the Kabul to redstone redstone the iron iron to gold And then you would do the gold into diamonds right ok but here’s the thing we have or right and what can we do with or rather than just convert it directly at a rate of four to one we can put it into our macerator a macerator will turn One gold or in the two gold dust and turn this little generator on and will pump it into our electric furnace and those dust will turn into bars we can then take the bars and the bars at the same rate as the dust convert directly into regular diamonds so by adding a Small industrialcraft step into the mix we can literally double the amount of goal of diamonds we get / gold these are some that I made earlier just to show off that it really does work and look at that there’s eight diamonds and I think I’m going to have another seven or eight Down there once all the dust finishes cooking and the reason I did all this is that to make the thing i want to show you takes a literal ton of diamonds so what i was going to show off is the way to get on autonomy terials using BuildCraft there are two of them the good one is the quarry but the basic easy to make one is mining well so we’ll start with that because this is something you can get like relatively early in the game it just takes you know some iron I’m an iron pickaxe um an iron Gear and redstone now the iron gears are relatively easy to make just do a wood gear then do a couple gear and then make it into iron alright so I’m pickaxe in the bottom red start at the top I’m here in the middle let me cover three sides With iron that makes mining well what this does let me grab some parts out because i do have spare minutes although i’m not sure a redstone engine will do the trick we will see if it does but not let’s demonstrate this we’re going to go going to go a little ways From home because I don’t want to up any of my cool little underground mines alright so to show off on the mining well I came back to my old house where I did a lot of my initial experimentation sort of trying to figure out how this should work so the mining Well needs power from an engine and i’m not sure if a redstone one will do it or not but we will try it does not look like this is strong enough ok is that should have been doing something so we will need more power and get more power As Tim Allen would say we need a bigger engine we need the steam engine so I’m going to make one of those real quick so you make the combustion engine like this you do to stone gears a piston glass and then three start at the top and that Makes or not the combustion the steam engine the the mid tier one so there’s the steam engine and this will power our little diggy diggy machine so we place the steam engine and it looks similar it’s just you know gray instead of brown and then the combustion engine is white Now they catch with the steam engine is that it needs power so you need to put something in it to burn some fuel unfortunately I don’t think it works off of a wonderful BuildCraft generators because it’s not electric or I mean undertrial craft but that would be nice Then once you have power in it you hook it up to a machine you can tell it’s hooked up because it’s pointing at it then you just hit the switch and it goes and since it’s moving you can tell it’s working now look down here at the magic You see it tunneling down there and it’s spinning everything out up top that it is mining now you can even enhance this process us with BuildCraft by adding pipes which I’m going to go do so now what it’ll do is it will dig all the way down and Everything it digs it will pipe into this chest and it will go down until it hits bedrock or lava and it won’t stop until then and now this is sort of cool and it’ll get you like a decent amount of stuff but it only goes to like one Area and then you have to move the whole thing and you have to retype it and everything which is sort of inefficient and kind of annoying however BuildCraft does offer a an upgraded version a more powerful version and this some I’ve not actually played with yet So we’re going to be on I’m going to be on fresh ground here in a sec when I go make the quarry as you can see the quarry takes like a ton of stuff to diamond gears on the diamond pickaxe to gold gears on three iron gears and Redstone now hopefully we’ve got enough mats to make all that alright so I’ve made um a bunch of iron gears now we need to upgrade four of them into gold gears and then two more all the way up into diamond ears take two of these and We make them into diamond gears we also need a fresh dymond pick on one redstone yes okay so as you see this is really expensive this is on 11 diamonds which is still not as bad as the dark matter but it is a close-run thing So we now have our quarry now um what the quarry does is it’s sort of an AOE digging machine but I think I’m going to need a combustion engine to like power it so I’m going to make one of them and then we won’t go they’re all right so here we have the Mats for the combustion engine on three iron ingots a glass of piston to iron gears makes a combustion engine and this is sort of the end-all be-all of buildcraft powering this is what you need to power on the most powerful stuff like the quarry here so we’re going to Go off this way here and find a good spot to put down a quarry I’m going to try to place it near some oil because I think that’s what I’m going to need to power it I don’t really mind it being a little ways from home but there’s some oil over there I guess we’re off to do is build like a little temporary structure here and maybe I diggy diggy out of tunnel and connected with like mine carts or something so here we are i’m going to set up the diggy diggy machine and we’ll set it up kind of up High so that we can actually kind of see it tunneling down here so when you place the quarry it sets up its little boundary and this is what it’s going to like diggy diggy out you can’t right click on it that doesn’t do anything you just need to sort of put something and End your next to it and watch it do its thing so try this with a off with a redstone engine and predictably that does jack and so we’re just going to go ahead and power up a combustion engine now combustion engines take a variety of fuels I think oil and fuel Are like the two big ones and fuels basically like refined oil so one of the things that um you can use to power it besides oil and fuel is lava buckets I think so I just transmitted one up with some colons and redstone and we’re going To see if that works to power it and then I think you just need to give it like a redstone sort of on switch so yes um yeah here is it working it’s going to kind of make this whole thing like a barrier so you can’t like accidentally Get in there and get diggy diggy and then it will start pumping out materials which means I should have brought like some tubes or a chest or something so we’re going to make some real quick alright so the quarry is finished mapping its thing out and this Is like it’s little diggy diggy like thing and as it digs it should have shoots the materials out somewhere oh here they are it’s like kind of puing them out from the top and this would be happening in a more orderly fashion if I had connected it with pipes and instead Of just kind of spewing it about this wood pipe should pipe the armed men that’s out of the quarry and into this chest here I just need to UM refuel my quarry as you see I’m a bucket of lava really didn’t get me that much it formed The frame and it dig you think you’d like four blocks so this is obviously not sustainable I just wanted to sort of show it off this way and make sure like it worked so look now it’s diggy diggy and it’s popping the mats out right into The chest like we wanted I’m going to make that a double chest and then we’re going to go and we’re going to set up a more permanent um fuel source for this thing because it goes through a lava bucket pretty quickly now it’s sort of zigzags back and forth and it’ll Do this all the way down until it hits love or bedrock just like the other thing and this one set up properly will give you like a ton of materials but it does take a little while so we have to kind of bear with it and we’re going to head back home and Get some mats and set up an oil piping system to give this thing power Video Information

Alchemy gets a lot more efficient when the Macerator is involved! Also I show off ways to acquire lots of mats without actually diggy diggying for them.
