Good morning everyone my name is Dom I’m our Museum guy today and we’ll be walking through Minecraft the exhibition it is open today through August 6th now we expect this exhibit to be very popular so I’m here today to show you what’s going to be inside so you can Know what to expect when you get here for your visit let’s go on in well the first thing we’re going to see as we walk in the exhibit is Steve face of Minecraft now Steve is one of our many mobs that you’ll see while you’re inside the exhibition a few things about Our mobs they are touchable so you can be very gentle with them you can give them little pets here and there you can take pictures with them but just make sure you’re very gentle we want to make sure we protect them don’t climb on them Or hurt them in any way we want to make sure we protect them so that everyone can have a chance to take a picture with their favorite mob now this exhibit is experienced in a few sections it is linear which means there’s a one-way path so as you see Here we’re gonna go in through the door here and then we’ll come back out from that side so let’s go on and take a spin this first section is what is Minecraft so you may be wondering do I have to know a lot about Minecraft to enjoy this Exhibit do I have to be a Super Fan the answer is no you can have zero experience with Minecraft it could be brand new to you or you could be a Super Fan maybe you have played a lot of the game this exhibit is meant to give you An overview of everything Minecraft so you don’t have to know everything about it in order to enjoy your experience so you’ll see here in this first area there is a timeline about what has happened since Minecraft released way back in 2009 there’s some videos on projections That show you what the game looks like and what the world is as well as what can be made in game uh we’ll continue walking through this first section uh we’ve got an area dedicated to some biomes which are different environments within Minecraft but first we’re going to take a trip Over here to a few more of our mobs here we have zombie and we have our wolf is a good boy uh big tip about this mob is very petable right we want a pet wolf because he’s a good boy but we do not want to climb on Wolf if you climb on Wolf it’s going to get broken and we don’t want to hurt wolf in any way so make sure you’re gentle with our mobs including wolf so that we can protect them for everyone else and zombie as well you want to be gentle with our zombie I know in the game you Want to defend yourself from the zombies but this is a nice zombie we don’t want to hurt this one either oh hi so now we’ve made it to the biomes this is like a diorama of the world of Minecraft and this is one of my favorite Spots in the entire exhibit you can see all the different environments of the game it’s more than just the Overworld up top you can see the underwater areas the caverns and the nether way down at the bottom this is an environmental piece here it shows you just how Expansive the world of Minecraft really is moving on we have a Time Lapse video over here that shows you some amazing builds in game you can pause rewind and fast forward there’s more biomes over here a few on that side as well as a few over there We’ve got some small pandas in that biome as well our big panda is going to be in the pop-up shop which I’ll mention again in just a little bit now here through this first section at the very end we have my favorite interactive in the whole Space and this Is our crafting table if you’re not familiar with Minecraft crafting is very Central to the game’s experience if you are familiar with Minecraft then you’re going to be very very familiar with this environment here so I’m going to go ahead and place some items on here but You’ll notice that there is a tutorial so if you know Minecraft crafting recipes you’re going to have to do what this is telling you first and then you can freely build what you want so it wants me to Place One log tile so I’m going to take my log tile here I’m going To place it on my 3×3 grid you’ll see that’s going to take me through a tutorial so I just crafted planks using a log crafts four planks in game so now that I’ve got my planks it’s going to tell me to clear the grid and We need to make some sticks how do you make sticks well you need two planks so I’m going to take two of those planks that I just crafted place them on the grid and I just made three six so now that we have sticks we’re going To make a pickaxe let’s make a pickaxe I’m gonna need two sticks and three planks and I will arrange them in the shape of a pickaxe just like this boom there we go we’ve got a wood pickaxe now I can crack anything that I want so Since I am a big fan of all things diamonds I think I’m gonna make some Diamond Weaponry here first I’m gonna go ahead and make a diamond sword because that’s what I would be wielding if I was going through the world of Minecraft boom there’s my diamond sword I’m gonna Grab it I’m gonna go put it in my pockets and I’m also gonna need a pickaxe because I prefer to use my sword when I’m defending myself from mobs and I prefer to use a pickaxe when I’m actually mining for materials the difference is that I need two sticks There and three diamonds up top and there is my diamond pickaxe so I will now take that and then put it in an inventory as well these are all the materials here on our crafting table you can freely craft whatever you want to in the spots make Sure you give this a shot when you come to the exhibit this is so much fun but it’s not the only thing you can do that’s Hands-On in our exhibits right next to our crafting table you see that we have 16 gaming stations where you can play Minecraft for yourself a few things About these gaming tables you’ll notice some of them have an Xbox controller that you can play Minecraft on and some of them are going to be on keyboard and mouse so we’ve dedicated a few varieties of methods that you can play Minecraft on so if it’s your first time you can Choose whichever one you’re most comfortable with if you’ve played Minecraft before you can maybe try a different method of playing Minecraft but no matter where you play Minecraft in our exhibit whether that’s at these computer stations on Xbox controller on a keyboard and mouse there’s a 10 minute Time limit that we want to keep this is just so everyone in the exhibit gets a chance to play Minecraft again it’s going to be a very popular exhibit so we want to make sure that everyone has a chance to play the world’s most popular video game of all time Right next to our computer stations we also have an Xbox station and this is the only spot in the exhibit that you can play multiplayer Minecraft at the computer stations those are all single players so you’re playing on your own in your own world at this spot it is Multiplayer so two players can play at the same time in the same world so here you can see that these two players are together in the same world I’m Steve here on the on the top and then Alex is on the bottom they’re waving to each Other and you can play here as well again there’s a 10 minute timer on this as well as our computer stations give whichever one a shot that you want whichever one you prefer here on our left now is our punching tree I know there are other trees in the Exhibit but this is the one that we want you to punch not the others right so I’m gonna go ahead and show you what it’s like to punch a tree just so you can see what it’s like before you get here yourself this foam pad here is where we’re going to be aiming And you don’t have to punch it very hard right I am just kind of tapping it with my hands and boom after I punched it enough we have harvested some wood from this tree just like you would in Minecraft for those of you that might not want to punch the tree if maybe You’re not quite able or you just don’t feel like punching it uh you just have to tap it you can smack it too just any way you want you can use your hand you can use your elbow whichever you’re most comfortable with you can get some wood From that tree and that is very Central to the Minecraft experience wood is a very important resource and that is how you collect wood in game we have a few more mobs here above me we have the Phantom and we also have the Iron Golem both very good at photo ops Just be careful with our mobs again just like the other ones I mentioned be very careful with these I know Iron Golem looks very sturdy and very strong but we don’t want to hurt Golem we don’t want Golem to hurt you be very gentle with our mobs no matter which one you’re Playing with now be very careful this next area is very dangerous it is the nether all right so we got to be careful when we’re going into The Nether as we’re stepping in we will hear the sounds of the nether when you hear be very careful we have our zombified Piglet and We have the environment of the nether around us a very good photo op in this area it is completely environmental so you’re gonna feel like you are in the nether of Minecraft while you’re in this room we have a few more things to explore while we’re in this exhibit once we’ve Exited the nether to our left we have a minecart photo op this is one of my favorite photo ops in the exhibit you can get behind the mine cart here get inside and then have your picture taken like you are in one of the Mayan Caverns within the game The minecart we have our skeleton Skelly boy this is one of our mobs that we have blocked off skeletons are dangerous in game right they’re probably the most difficult enemy in my opinion to defeat they’ve got these bow and arrows they’re very scary so we blocked them off so That you don’t hurt the skeleton the skeleton doesn’t hurt you you can stay a safe distance away from our skeleton but again a very good photo op moving into one of our final sections we have another video opportunity over here talking about survival mode What It’s Like on your first night we also have an Infinity mine here uh so with the use of some cool environmental pieces it looks like this is an endless mine uh that is in Minecraft so you can get a nice photo opportunity here as well and then to our left right next to the Infinity mine we have what looks like a blacked out screen like nothing is there so I’m gonna go ahead and walk over here because you know it’s probably safe there’s nothing over here right oh oh oh gosh ah whoa whoa whoa okay that was a Creeper uh I think I’m safe I must have been just far enough away that it didn’t get blown up uh but creeper is always going to be here creeper will creep up on you and blow up and have that little animation it is motion censored so when You and your family group walk up to this exhibit space here boom our creeper will show up and explode so you can get a really nice video or photo op with your family and then next to creeper we have another one of the more popular enemies of Minecraft Enderman notice I’m not Looking Enderman in the eyes right now okay and not be very good uh if you look Enderman in the eyes they become hostile and then they start to attack you so just don’t look Enderman in the eyes have a nice photo op with them you can Touch our mind uh are all of our mobs you can touch again just be very gentle if you want to touch the block enderman’s holding or if you want to go Pat them on the shoulder that is okay just don’t look them in the eyes and be very gentle with them In our final section here this is our education area this is all about how Minecraft is more than just a video game that you can play for fun it has lots of educational purposes and we also have a few more opportunities to play Minecraft as well there’s the education station Where you have the education edition of Minecraft it’s pre-loaded with different lesson plans that can teach math algebra social studies and science you can give that a whirl if you want and then we also have some touchscreen iPads so if you prefer to play on an iPad or a Tablet you can play on these as well instead of having to play on keyboard and mouse if that’s just a little bit too involved for you after our globe here we have our program room where we have daily programs if you want to give one of those a shot make Sure you’re here early we do them throughout the day if you want to check out the times on the board there and then behind me we have one of our final spots in the exhibit and this is our Minecraft bedroom Scene It has lots of Minecraft merchandise everything Minecraft this area here shows you just how popular Minecraft has become since it released and how it’s everywhere in popular culture you’ve got Minecraft stuffies sheets bed sheets comforters lamps everything you see here you can buy somewhere and it is related to Minecraft also if you’re here and you Want to pick up some Minecraft merchandise we have a pixel 8 pop-up shop in the museum store some of the merchandise you see here is available in the store as well as the panda mob that I mentioned earlier you can go take a picture with the panda in our Museum Store and then one of the other mobs that’s not inside the exhibit anymore right now is the cow the cow is one of my favorite mobs the cow right now is near the ball machine on level one so make sure you visit the ball machine to Take a picture with the cow if that’s one of your goals while you’re here in the exhibit now see we are exiting the exhibit now that is the entire experience as we are done here I’m going to go ahead and stand near Steve again because as we Started with Steve we will be ending with Steve again remember friends this exhibit is going to be very popular so we want to make sure we prepare you for your experience before you get here get here early make sure that you have everything you need whether that’s your phone your camera any Minecraft Costuming or merchandise you want make sure you bring that with you and if you have any questions just let us know otherwise thanks for joining us today again my name is Dom have a nice day
