Occultism mod Pt1 Bit-By-Bit – Getting started!

Welcome to the mischief i’m valen and this is occultism i’m going to be showing you today how you can tether spirits to do your will in this dual mod first you can see the unseen You can summon familiars which if nearby can grant you special effects and bonuses you can also summon demons or spirits substantial satchels can definitely help you on your journey but so can wormholes linked to your own main magical storage unit maintained by a gin you can also create

Wormholes into mine shafts and start your own mining adventure without having to go anywhere just have your magic lamp do it for you or you can have some of your little demon helpers start processing goods for you nothing wrong with that right and then there’s rituals sometimes you might have to sacrifice an

Item or two or a friend but beware not everything is quite as safe as it might seem how does one start with occultism well you begin simply by breaking grass eventually you should find yourself aha one of these demons dream seeds just ignore all the other ones i’ve got

A whole bunch of other mods in this pack what do you do with demons dream seeds well as with most seeds you plant them this is a full grown plant here that has well grown up to full this is just a sprout here and you can bone meal them as usual

And harvest them for the fruit demon’s dream fruit is something different from your standard foods and it can be used in other mods for example i have some botany pots on here top of like a druidry crate giving me all sorts of these things here but you’re going to

Need a whole bunch of these so don’t be afraid to plant up these as often as you can you will get lots of seeds from harvesting these things over and over again not to worry they are very reproductive in that manner and therefore you can you know expand out your demon dream

Uh fruit farm but what do they do they don’t give you anything good except for visions so you can see things a little bit easier in some ways for this mod but alternately you can also burn them and turn them into something that can be used as a conversion tool for other blocks

So let’s start off with this you see here i’ve got some purple fire going on on these blocks this is simply what happens when you take a flint and steel and some demons dream fruit and burn it well just take this and light it

And it can be on the grass if you want but it won’t last very long on some blocks and will last indefinitely on others as you can see there i lit it on a piece of wood or a log and it should last forever without burning the log up on top of that

It does not burn you it will only convert items and not all items just some it also works good on blocks of charcoal as well as netherrack i do not advise you to try it on blocks of coal coke in immersive engineering or with uh regular blocks of

Um coal from vanilla minecraft there’s some specific tags that prevent that from actually working out properly and it will burn up the block of coal even though it will give you the purple flame to start but uh let’s assume that you’ve just done it with the regular old

Oak log or something like that you have one of these flames going on you can then use it to convert items now over here i’ve got some of the most basic ones there’s a lot more than what i have in front of me but we’ve got like like oak saplings got andesite

We’ve got diamonds and we’ve got black dye these are probably going to be your most common starting items that you’re going to want to convert into these other variants that you see on the side pretty much anything with a dark purple to it or this dark black block here

Alright so since i’ve got some purple flames here on in front of me i have each of these blocks now if i toss in some of the andesite the saplings the diamonds and the black dye eventually i’ll get all sorts of stuff i might have dropped a few things there

There we go we now have other stone unstable other world saplings spirit attuned gems and purified ink these are going to be some of the most important things you’re going to need to start with occultism remember i’m showing you all the tools you’ll need in order to progress through this it’s primarily focused

Around a lot of different kinds of pentacles as i’ve got a couple of them over here just as examples being you know kind of dressed up a little bit we’ll get to those in a moment first you need lots of ingredients so you’ll want to get as much

Other stone as you can you’ll want a lot of spirited tuned gems but you don’t have to have many to start uh just having one or two is probably going to be enough and that’s because if you use these in a two by two style here you can make spirit attuned crystals

Which can be used in some of those uh pentacles on the ground over here for some casting items but that aside it’s not something that you need to start with more than maybe one so that you can make yourself a divining rod now a dividing rod is a pretty handy

Tool for finding more materials if you craft this up with a single spirited tuned gem and some sticks you can then attune it to some of the other worldly items by asking it to just kind of like look for regular ones now that sounds a little confusing but let me uh

Go a little further if you look in the bottom right i have the one probe showing me that this is occultism andesite and over here this is minecraft andesite now we’ve got occultism oak logs we’ve got uh minecraft oak logs and the same thing with the leaves this one has the

Leaves texture sticking up because it’s uh i’ve got a mod in here called better foliage that kind of does that and then we’ve got another rack same thing we’ve got occultism and non-occultism now how does the divination rod work what’s it good for it’s good for finding occultism materials naturally in the world

Or at least just in the world now if you sneak right click on regular and a site let’s choose regular and site over here it then says the divination rod is now attuned to other stone which is if you remember this dark stuff over here which we already made by

Throwing insight in spirit fire now if we do this with the oak it’s the same thing it will attune to other world wood well that’s a little different from these saplings and there’s a special way of uh harvesting the wood that i’ll show you momentarily then of course we’ve got the leaves and

Of course we have this aisnium ore wait a minute that just says minecraft netherrack well later on you’ll end up being able to see this and harvest it but for now just know that if you find it for some reason don’t harvest it until you can actually see it

For what it’s supposed to be so with this in mind i can now use this divination rod to find other stone why would i want to find other stone i can make it over here well it might help you in locating some underground groves and getting some materials that you uh i

Don’t know maybe not have progressed to yet but if i use this just by holding right click now you’ll start seeing it does a search comes back down and then it says there we go it’s right there and look it’s highlighting the occultism andesite which is actually

Other stone in disguise so what does this mean this is the other use of demon’s dream fruit it gives you demon dreams which demons by the way they’re not really like evil inherently they are just spirits more or less they some of them might be a little bit more angry than others though

Now with demon’s dream fruit you can eat one and get a vision there you go and you can see now that the andesite has changed color and it looks like other stone this is other worldwood the leaves have turned and uh well the netherrack still looks the same

That’s going to require a little bit something more complex to see the proper stuff for that but this is the other use for demon’s dream fruit now it will actually give you a couple side effects besides the vision one is hunger two the other is third eye and that allows you to see

The unseen or things for what they should be for the most part not everything as you can see here and while you’re in this state you can actually harvest most of these materials so let’s try this experiment here so that you guys can see what’s going on

I’m going to take an axe i’ve got a little bit of bone meal i’ve got an otherworld sapling that i just planted an unstable one no less and it will grow up into what looks like a regular oak tree but you can see it does say oak leaves occultism in the bottom right

There so if i harvest this i will get regular stuff i have an oak sapling and an oak log both from minecraft okay well let’s bring these saplings down and you’ll see something a little different when i eat demon dream fruit and harvest it then so with this in mind

While i’m under this activation here i can start harvesting this and get myself a whole bunch of the oak not the regular oak though you notice i now have otherworld wood this is something that you can only get while you’re underneath that uh that special effect the demon’s dream fruit gives you

I now have that but the saplings well they just turn into oak saplings so it is a little bit of an issue but you can always toss them back into the fire and it it sounds like a lot like why do i want to keep doing this this is your entry level stuff

You can change this up i’ll show you how to do it so it’s a little bit more convenient by the end of the video now just a quick note if you’re using a divination rod if you uh use it nearby you can tend to find things like in this case i have it

Attuned to other uh other world wood down here you can find these groves and then harvest these all this stuff that’s already out here you might also find some a whole bunch of andesite that is already occultism andesite so therefore you can just harvest a whole bunch of

Materials just make sure that you have that third eye effect going on before you end up harvesting some of this now i have other mods in here so there’s a little bit of extra stuff we also might find some glowstone which would be very convenient you’re definitely going to want some of that

Too now talking about a few things that you might be in need of this is going to be centered around a lot of magicky stuff and most magic stuff requires books you’re going to want a lot of sugar cane you’re also going to want feathers specifically from chickens

They’re very handy that way but on top of that you’re going to probably for starting off want a whole bunch of black ink as well as a white dye or rather black dye and white dye so that you can make some of the beginning stuff you’re going to be making

Some or rather several book and quills throughout the course of your occultism career so don’t be afraid to kind of jump in a little bit with some of those materials early on and it’ll save you a bit of time now speaking of gathering a bunch of materials early on

You’re going to want to get yourself a bunch of farm animals specifically these ones here are going to be very key for you we’ve got cows horses sheep there’s a pig somewhere back there that is hiding in amongst all of them or a llama if you make one of these a

Butcher knife which is just a bunch of sticks and a couple iron ingots nothing really fancy here you can use it same as an iron sword same damage and swing speed to kill these animals and get extra goodies and by extra goodies i mean tallow tallow is used to make

White candles and these are going to be used in some of your pentagrams rituals that you’re going to be uh making around here and you’re going to need some to start so you’re definitely going to want to start breeding harvesting some of the goods for these and if you’re really partial to your

Animals this might not be the mod for you because you’re you’re probably going to end up having to sacrifice one or two of them here and there so let’s go on to the next part here i mentioned before otherworld would what good is it well you can use it in multiple ways but

Primarily you’re going to want to start by tossing some into some spirit fire and with that you’ll be getting other world ashes you’re going to want at least three of these so you can make yourself one of these impure white chalk but before you can do that you also need burnt other stone

Which is simple enough you just cook it in a furnace and you get some burnt other stone more or less another type of ash combine these together like so and you get that in pure white chalk which is useless but not to worry you can turn it into white chalk simply

By throwing that into some spirit fire it’s a good thing that you probably have decided to make yourself a permanent spirit fire rather than have to constantly keep burning your demon’s dream fruit over and over again now once you have white chalk yes you can make pretty designs on the ground it’s

It’s pretty simple but all right if i’m not in creative mode and i start trying to harvest these oh my gosh it takes so much to try and break these things what what is going on you can break the block underneath them and it’ll probably be a bit quicker

But better than that you’re going to want to make a chalk brush it’s just some some wood some wool and some string and you just click and the runes go away it’s that simple it’s it’s infinite durability unlike your chalk which will probably have like what 128 uses on it

So don’t be afraid to you know experiment a little bit with it you can use it for designs and whatnot but more importantly you can use it for making rituals now there are several tiers of chalk and this is kind of going to hold you back from getting to different

Tiers of rituals starting off with white you can already start making your first rituals which is great now on top of that these are the types of things you’re going to be using in your ritual pentacles uh you’ve got your sacrificial bowls your golden sacrificial bowls your four different kinds of chalk colors

Your spirit attuned crystals wither skeleton skulls skeleton skulls and white candles and it does not use other candles as well it has to be the occultism style so make sure that you if you’re playing in a mod pack that you’ve got a lot of candles in

That you don’t get those mixed up now each one is going to have its own specific requirement for different sets of these and for this it makes it rather simple if you have the patchouli mod installed then you’d be able to make the the dictionary of spirits

With a book and some demon stream seeds and you can use it to actually learn everything there is to know about this mod in the book it’s not the best organized though because with patchouli it kind of goes in chapters and doesn’t start with what you necessarily need to have known in each

Chapter so it gets a little bit like back and forth this is why i’m trying to lead you through this a little bit but if you go into pentacles your first one is going to be avr’s circle and that’s because it’s the the one that uses only one type of chalk

It’s your earliest access chalk and very simple to make it just requires a little bit of stuff like you see here and if you want you can click that little eyeball on the page and then you just right click on the ground and then it will place an illusionary version of this

On the ground you can start using this to draw things in place or fix them as you might need to and start making your own pentacle circles uh ritual circles and so on uh oops if you can even hit the areas and start setting it up once you’ve got it

All complete then it’ll give you a little ding note you notice at the top it says 20 out of 25. just need a little bit of these candles here and i just need one more that golden sacrificial bowl place one of these down and there we go it is now complete

Now keep in mind though that uh the patchouli version may or may not display things properly according to what you are seeing in the world so don’t always trust what is displayed here you might need some kind of like skull or wither skeleton skull or both

In your diagram so you’re going to want to double check that before you uh you know if it says that you still need a few more blocks you don’t see the ghosts of them on the ground it’s just a tool to help you it’s not necessarily going to be 100 accurate

Now with this in mind you think all right this is cool i’ve made a first pentacle i don’t know what it’s used for but i want to start using it and making stuff and doing things well you still need a little bit more you’re going to need a bunch of these

Sacrificial bowls and if you remember we made golden sacrificial bowls i didn’t tell you the recipes on those but they are both very similar sacrificial bowls are simply just some other stone in a u-shape golden ones just surround that with a bunch of gold bars and you’re going to

Want a bunch of sacrificial bowls you’re probably going to be fine oops uh by the way these things display items when clicked on them so if i click the chalk in here it’s just going to hover above it as a display item but it you’ll want to put a bunch of

Them down now depending upon the ritual you have you may only need like one of these two of these maybe four five six who knows but it’s probably a good idea to make yourself like six or eight of them just to start and then you’ll have more

Than enough for what you’re going to need to do so i now have this thing set up properly everything’s in place what do i need it for and i i have this in place over here just so you can see the spacing a little bit better if you’re interested in checking it out

Because i don’t have anything underneath the blocks there now something you should know before you start casting any of these things because this one ritual pentacle has several uses first is that its range it will reach out to eight blocks from the center a total diameter which is from there

All the way over to there of 17 blocks that’s because it’s going to be one block in the center and eight blocks out from it in any direction and this will mean that it will accept things in sacrificial bowls out to that distance so if you have

Two rituals next to each other and they’ve got stuff in each of these sacrificial bowls it might get confused and start trying to use the bowls from one or the other so how do you avoid this from happening well wizard towers are a thing yes wizard towers in this

Case you’d probably want to do occultism wizard towers just by raising up your pentacle one block higher than its neighboring one it will not use any of the sacrificial bowls from either one what are sacrificial bowls used for well as you might have guessed anything you put in these is what’s

Going to be used to sacrifice uh to make something happen so let’s start with a simple one shall we in this case we’re going to summon a demon trader that is going to trade us for other world saplings you’re probably thinking wait bailey we we already can make other world saplings no no

No no these are unstable other world saplings that we have remember those are different from what we’re going to be getting so if you look here the otherworld sapling trader trades natural other world saplings for stable ones that can be harvested without the third eye and you can see the prettiness that they

Are in the world without having to have eaten some kind of strange or suspicious fruit now it will tell you here what kind of requirements you have that you will need in order to make this avr circle which we already have on the ground a book of binding i’ll show you that in

A moment and ingredients oak birch spruce and jungle saplings which i have in four sacrificial bowls nearby they are close enough now you can put them over here in here any any combination around here they just need to be somewhere nearby that does not interfere with the runes the candle or the golden

Sacrificial bowl or or anything else for its uh you know ground placement but this book of binding foliate bound that it seems a bit confusing but it’s not because i’m here to explain it to you this is where that white dye i was talking about comes in the book and quill

And that purified ink that you tossed in the fire it was just some black ink before you combine those together in a crafting table you get a book of binding foliate now what is a foliate there are several different kinds of demons foliate is the lowest level probably one

Of the safest and weakest ones you could have they’re not that smart either then you’ve got genies and these are or gin as some might pronounce i’m not sure which one it is but they’re a little bit more dangerous but not really still much to worry about

And a lot smarter then you’ve got a freaks these are dangerous and uh you can get them to still do tasks for you but they also can uh kind of fight back depending upon how you’re summoning them and then there’s merits you don’t really want to mess with merits anyway

Let’s stick with the basics foliage so i’ve made the book right let’s just say i did i’m not going to bother crafting one in my inventory because i can grab it out of the creative inventory but what i’m going to do to make it bound as you can see here there’s a bound

Version you just take it plus your dictionary of spirits combine it in here and if you notice this one is actually in an akashic tome which is another mod that will store lots of books in it you can still craft it and you will get your book back your akashic tome or your

Dictionary or spirits will be safe all you’re doing is taking your book of binding and writing the a foliage name from it in your book which is binding that demon to your will it sounds impressive but it’s really just kind of crafting a book into your inventory but anyway i’ve got these

Four items here how do i get this this ritual going and what’s it going to benefit well if you are trading some demon know that they will only last for a certain time anytime that you’re summoning a kind of demon into the world or spirit in this case

It will have a limited lifetime and this is going to be one of the shortest lived ones that there are let me click here you hear that that means something is happening and it said that there’s a other world trader is going to be summoned you can also see purple

Particles around the book that means everything is good and it is currently running and starting the ritual you’ll also notice that some of the items will slowly start disappearing poof over time being used up as part of the ritual if you have dark particles in here it’s waiting for something else

Usually an additional sacrifice but in this case we don’t have that we have a demon whose name i’m not even going to try pronouncing anyway here we’ve got a little trader you can see here essence decay is 16 already quick throw a bunch of these uh unstable other world saplings down

And maybe uh crom here will be able to get us a few of these stable ones now hopefully we’ll get at least one because i think that’s all we really need but if you sneak right click you can see how much time they’ve used up already in the world and the

Items that they’re holding aha there we go i now have a stable the world sapling as opposed to those unstable ones now you might think all right well what happens if he’s holding a bunch of stuff and and his time’s up well at the end of the time

His physical form dies his spirit is still there and you can always re-summon them or summon another one but in this case he’ll just pass away and drop the items that are in his hands there we go crom just died thanks krom appreciate it you gave me some other

World saplings any time that you’ve got a trader or something like that that doesn’t live for very long it’s often a good idea to already have the things you want to trade on the ground to get the most amount of trade for the the least amount of time that

You can now other world saplings that are stable as i said before plant them on the ground bone meal them and look at that i have better foliage installed so they’re extra fluffy but with this in mind you can now harvest these things i do not have third eye effect going on

I have not eaten any of the demon’s dream fruits as you notice everything’s still in color but i can harvest it normally now which is great and then i can get more of this stuff and what do these things drop on the ground well guess what more other world

Saplings so you really only need to do the trade once if you’re smart about it but it doesn’t always guarantee that you’ll get a sapling to drop afterwards this is a great source of getting more of the other world would so that you don’t have to constantly uh

You know keep tossing and growing and and trying to get a few logs at a time with you know the added demons dream fruit you can stop using those it’s kind of convenient that way now what else can we do with avr’s circle if you look here it says you can make a

Crusher a lumberjack a transporter we already made a sapling trader and another stone trader the other stone trader here is very similar to the sapling trader in that it will trade you some stuff but instead of andesite if you just have some smooth stone or regular stone that you’ve cooked up

Or cobblestone that you’ve cooked up four of those will get you some other stone and he’s there long enough that you should if you’ve got the stack already on the ground when he summoned get you at least 16 other stone for a stack of regular stone and it’s only the cost

Of one stone granite diorite and andesite so it’s pretty darn cheap except for the book of binding which might be a little bit expensive depending upon your resources at hand now what are the others a crusher a lumberjack and a transporter these are all really important specifically the crusher and the transporter

Now the transporter will actually allow you to take items from one inventory and put them in another and you can specify blacklist and whitelist filters it’s really cool we’ll cover that in a future episode the lumberjack is pretty darn cool as well you can have it just harvest trees in a 16

32 or 64 block diameter i believe is what it is it’s it’s or is it radius i can’t remember but it’s a pretty good space um and then the crusher this one here is actually the one that we’re going to need to have because in order to make the next level

Of chalk which opens up the next level of uh your your different rituals you’re going to need glowstone dust and gold dust well how do you get gold dust with a crusher demon of course all right so i have spawned myself in some of the required materials

Now if you look in the book here it says one copper ore iron ore silver ore and gold ore this is important because in another page of the book it just says copper it doesn’t say specifically like it shows here and a lot of people think that it needs

Bars i even thought this the first time that i did it because i did not find it for on that page you need the ore versions of these different things yeah i’ve got gold iron silver and copper and both silver and copper are added in uh via occultism

Now with those and your book of binding foliat bound that basically was just one of those books of binding crafted with a dictionary of spirits you can then summon a crusher remember purple particles means that it’s working properly and you just need to be patient

Some of these will take a good minute or two maybe like up to five minutes depending upon how complex the ritual is but it should do things over time now if i want to stop this ritual for some reason it’s used up some of the ingredients already you can still right click

And it will stop the ritual do i get the stuff back nope you don’t and there we have there we have uh crick is what i’m gonna say this guy is here and remember how the previous one the trader only lasted maybe a minute maybe two this one here will last uh

By default somewhere around 50 minutes unless you change things in the configs so you don’t need to rush quite so much but in this case take my stack of golden ore and and double it for me i would like ore doubling please where’s my gold where’s my gold

They take a bit of time you can see that the stuff is here they spit out some dust you can always just push them around if you want and put them on top of a hopper don’t worry you can move them outside of the the pentacle they’re not going to

Kill you or anything like that if you do but um this is just one way of kind of making it so it’s a little more convenient for you so let’s take a chunk out here we’ll put this there and we’re just going to push u on top of this hopper doesn’t mean that

They’re going to be exactly in that right in that spot i could probably put a few blocks next to them just to make sure that they don’t kind of knock things out in the wrong area but over time they’ll drop those around and with your gold dust and if you found

Any of the other world little groves underground that i showed you earlier you should also have access to glowstone and with that you’ll have access to your next level of chalk which of course with glowstone gold dust impure white chalk and you’ll make impure golden chalk which

Uh yeah you guessed it you just need to spirit fire that thing and you get yourself some golden chalk and you open up all sorts of new pentacles and new abilities but we’ll be covering that stuff in the next episode so if you enjoyed this video
