Sophisticated Storage mod Minecraft 1.18+ Bit-By-Bit

Would you like a variety of colorful storage perhaps some that can be expanded maybe something that will pick up magnet filter void compact smelt smoke blast craft cut stack play music and even feed you yeah welcome to the mischief i’m valen and this is sophisticated storage

So as the name implies this mod can be sophisticated but honestly it’s rather intuitive and somewhat easy to get into it can be very powerful with its storage options but also with what these storage containers can offer you so let’s start with the basics yes there are a plethora

Of colors for you to choose from as well as different wood types and it’s not just restricted to something like barrels or chests or shulker boxes you can have all three with any of these upgrades that i discuss throughout this video so how does one make some of this sophisticated

Storage you start with the item in question whether it be a shulker box a regular barrel or a chest you just have one of those and you make a basic tier upgrade this is your starting point where it converts your storage item into a sophisticated storage it’s made with some sticks and a

Redstone torch it’s rather inexpensive and you just right click it will use up the item but i’m in creative so i have infinite amounts but when you reopen your storage item you then have this little storage spot on the side for any kind of upgrades you can sort the

Inventory you can also sort it by specific types if you want and you have a settings tab that has now been added clicking on this you have a lot of different options the first one is the storage settings tab this will allow you to customize your player interactions this

If you read here says apply to all backpacks storages unless overridden you can potentially use this mod in combination with sophisticated backpacks that is a separate mod and i will not be covering that today but just be aware of that going forward so if this mentions any

Kind of backpacks and any of these tabs or upgrades that is what it’s referring to in most cases so you can tell this to apply its settings to all backpacks and storages unless overwritten or just to the storage itself by having different upgrades you might have other tabs

Available to you and that’s what this refers to when it says here for an option of shift click into open tab first so if you have an open tab that allows you to smelt an item for example this would mean that you would shift-click anything from your inventory here into the barrel

In this case just by going into this if i had an upgrade that would allow me something else it would then go into this upgrade slot instead of the barrel keeping tabs open this will mean that if i exit this thing and come back in the tab itself would actually stay open

Now this is a poor example because these are just settings tabs these aren’t upgrade tabs but that’s what this is referring to so you can turn that off or on so that those tabs will automatically close when you’re done with them you can change your sort options you can also

Sort specific areas if so desired so i can select all the slots in this entire area you can select no slots with your sorting settings you also have the option of potentially choosing different areas that you want to sort and other areas that you do so

Now you can see we’ve got this pink area if i choose to sort the inventory some of it will stay frozen in place and unaffected by the sort option that i just chose then you’ve got ways of selecting areas that will only allow specific items in your storage and then

There’s the item display settings this here allows you to choose a specific item in this storage unit that will represent the storage itself on the outside so if i choose this stone here and actually i can choose a different color so that it’ll be a little bit

Different and easier to tell what it is then it will say there’s a stone displayed on the outside by clicking on here going back i can actually rotate it you can see that the display has changed a little bit here and it will just rotate the stone accordingly as you can

See so with the basics of the storage out of the way there are ways that you can upgrade this and there’s also ways that you can decorate this having a barrel that i’ve already upgraded and i put it in a crafting grid i can change its colors according to where i place

Things on here similar to how leather armor is done but a little bit different by adding in some some red dye you can see that the majority of the barrel is covered but not the accents putting it on this side of the barrel it then

Colors the accents of it if i put it in the middle it’ll do both so if i wanted to have this and here i could have a blue accented red barrel adding in some white dye it then kind of fades everything accordingly and you get yourself some really weird pastel

Looking barrel but nonetheless you can dye these to your heart’s content to further upgrade this instead of just colors we can go with something that will expand its area well you’d think all right well let’s just take this basic to iron tier upgrade which is just a redstone torch

With a bunch of iron around it and slap it in here nope doesn’t work like that you don’t even craft it with the barrel instead you just right click it again it will update and increase the storage capacity of this this being said you can also upgrade it further with

Gold which of course is just gold ingots and redstone making it even bigger diamond makes it even larger and you’ll also notice that the upgrade slots on the side with each subsequent upgrade adds one more upgrade slot that you can add in diamond of course is just a bunch

Of diamonds around a redstone torch and the diamond to netherright then we’ll upgrade it to its maximum capacity as far as slots available and upgrades and thankfully it’s only one another i it and a redstone torch but you will have to upgrade these in order you can’t just

Click on a lower tier one with a diamond another right and have it work now that may sound expensive but what these things can do for you is going to really blow you away let’s start with a pickup upgrade this will allow items to be picked up

As they come into contact with this netherright barrel in this case i’m just using now the right barrels for an example in this you do not have to have netherright in any of these cases i’m using it just as an example now you will notice when i put an upgrade in here

That it has this little toggle switch over here on the left side by clicking this to the red it will turn it off or on so this is something really handy and by putting this in place you might see an update of a tab being added you will need to exit

And go back into the inventory but then you can click here and it will have this you can choose to block specific items from being picked up or allow items in this case i’m going to take some stone put that in there and it should allow

Stone only it will not pick up anything else that comes into contact with it how can i prove this well let’s throw down a bunch of granite that’s on top throw some stone at it you’ll notice it disappears as it comes into contact with it let’s throw some over here and it

Stays in place it’s not touching it but it does end up getting picked up opening this up you can see that there is stone let’s clear this to block and it now will pick up the granite and you can see that well that’s pretty much how the

Pickup upgrade works and of course the pickup upgrade isn’t really that expensive a little bit of redstone a sticky piston and an upgrade base which is made just from iron and planks going with the advanced version which is more expensive requiring gold ingots redstone and a diamond on top of the

Previous upgrade will allow you a lot more advanced options you can block you can match items specifically you can ignore or choose durability ignoring or choosing nbt data and so on looking here we have the magnet upgrade this does require some ender pearls lapis redstone and iron

Plus a pickup upgrade so there is a little bit of an increase in the cost on this one but it is really fantastic for what it can do it can pick up items can pick up experience and you can also filter that with blocking or allowing

Again it just needs to be nearby and it will pick things up provided that it is on the allow list if that is currently what it’s set for picking that up all those are gone and you can now see that as i toss things out they all just get picked up by this

Magnet upgrade which is really nice next we’ve got a compacting upgrade this one requires an upgrade base plus a little bit of iron pistons and redstone and with it you can with the base version not the advanced version combine two by two items in this case we’ve got

Oak planks and i’ve got some glowstone dust now nothing is set to block it is set to compact anything and it works on the ui as well so you do have a few options up here but it’s turned off once i turn it on it will not work because

You do need to update this so if i take these planks out let’s open this up toss it in it instantly turns them into crafting tables so you just need something to update that one type of item and it will then start doing so if you are having items being dropped in

Here those are considered updates as well so if they’re being piped in with like a hopper or be a magnet upgrade you will automatically have these things take place this is just for when you’re first starting it up and you already have contents in the barrel or storage

As it is now the advanced one this one will allow you to do three by three recipes and gives you a little bit more with matching items and so on for you to filter with so it’s a little bit more to work with but it also offers the same functionality

It is a lot more expensive because it will require diamond gold redstone plus the previous versions and the upgrade base so this can get quite expensive over time but still nonetheless let’s take one iron nugget out of here turn this on throw this iron nugget in pow

And it condenses it all because it will then compact everything in a three by three grid for what i have it set up it’s currently set to compact anything and it is first creating the ingots and then it takes them and creates the blocks of iron this one’s pretty

Straightforward this is a void upgrade void upgrades require a little bit of obsidian placenta pearls and redstone dust and they will do exactly what you think they will void things they basically destroy them their trash cans and you can have a little bit of settings in here for what it allows or

Disallows you can avoid anything or you can have it void overflow so if you have too many of a certain type of item in this case void overflow allows single slot to be filled with the item and voids anything that overflows it so if i

Get a bunch of granite in here and i start trying to throw this in it would then void this let’s turn this to block and i can start shift clicking stuff in and it instantly deletes it because the granite is already full at 64 items or you can

Just change it to void any and then anything that you put in here will pretty much get destroyed as i drop it in now it’s updating the blocks and they just go bye-bye the advanced version you guessed it costs a lot more and it just gives you a bit

More options for what you can choose this area here we’re going to be covering how you can smelt smoke and blast your different items using your new storage this case i already have this turned on and it will automatically take things and start smelting them if they’re updated accordingly

Take this out of here and if i put some raw iron in it automatically goes into the smithing spot and the fuel will automatically go in so you’re basically having a furnace installed in your storage so you can just click on the tab and start smelting to your heart’s content

In this case it’s not that bad of an upgrade just a little bit more iron and redstone plus a furnace the smoker works in the same way where you just put some dried kelp or at least that’s what i’m using for fuel in this case a little bit

Of raw salmon and instantly it will start smoking things just like you did with the furnace cost on this one is the same as the previous recipe but you need to add a little bit of wood around it and it’ll turn it into a smoking upgrade

Or you can upgrade it from a smoker itself with iron and get some redstone last but not least we’ve got the blasting upgrade it works exactly the same way as the furnace one but of course it costs a bit more because you’ll need a bit more iron and smooth

Stone or to upgrade from a blast furnace if you have one with enough upgrades you can actually have all three of these in the same storage this is the options that you can actually have with increasing the tier of these different storage units so you can have them do multiple things at once

For an example this one has crafting and stone cutter so i can automatically craft things cut things appropriately let’s take a couple of planks here and i can use it to craft some sticks simple enough i can do that and it’s just kind of like a built-in crafting table

The stone cutter is the same way i can put some stone in here and i can choose what the output is it’s going to end up being stone bricks in this case voila you’re probably seeing for by now that there is a lot of storage in one of these netherite storage options

Which yes they come in regular barrels they come in chests and they come in shulkers so they’re going to be quite large regardless but you might not think about it these don’t mean that that’s the most that these things can store because if you look at

This little chest here it’s a very small chest but it’s storing a lot more per slot than any of the others in fact it’s storing more than three times as much as the netherright one could provided that they’re of a similar block type now in this case i’ve just got

Dried kelp blocks i’ve got 1024 in each slot because we’ve got stack upgrades these come in four different types and each one increases the quantity that can be stored if you look here you’ve got your tier one that increases it by two tier two increases by four tier three

Increases it by eight and tier four increases it by 16. the first one is really cheap with just a bunch of wood next one increases with a whole bunch of iron third one requires a lot of gold and you guessed it the last one requires a lot

Of diamonds and yes you do need the previous version in order to increase the capacity of each one but at the very least it would seem that just the wood one in itself is going to be worthwhile looking at this shulker box version here i have a few options available to me the

Feeding upgrades these do require a little bit of some finesse for the items in order to accomplish this and even the advanced one of course adds in a little bit more cost to it but either one is going to be a boon to you all you need

To do is have it within seven blocks of a player and turned on giving myself a really strong hunger effect i should then start being fed a little bit of this item and in this case i’ve got it allowing beetroots to be automatically fed to me and you’ll notice that i’m getting

Little munchy noises on occasion i still have this strong hunger effect so it’s not actually feeding me as fast as i could possibly get hungry in this case but every few seconds it’s going to try feeding me something now you can choose exactly what you want

It to feed or not feed to me but you can also do even more with the advanced version which allows you to choose if they’re hungry enough or depending upon if they are taking damage instantly if they want instant immediately to be giving food straight away and this affects a seven block

Radius even though it’s in a shulker box just because it’s in your inventory doesn’t mean it’s going to auto feed you it does need to be placed in world same with any of these items these aren’t backpacks these are still blocks that need to be placed let’s look at the filter upgrade

This is just some redstone string and a base and the advanced version requires a little bit more gold and redstone thankfully no diamond is needed and looking at the base one it currently will allow or disallow items being input or output or both to be allowed to flow in one direction

Or another so let’s take all these items here that are in there you see that it is currently allowing blocks of amethyst and gold so if i put all of these in here it will take gold and amethyst and you’ll notice that it currently is leaving the stone block

Here in the hopper it’s not taking it at all and i had that right in the middle of these other blocks if i turn that to block then it will automatically let the stone come in and it would stop any further amounts of gold or amethyst coming through

And as i said before you can change it to output as well and input and output if you want looking at the advanced one you can actually have it go even further with blocking matching items durabilities mbts and of course the same options and last but not least let’s look at

This monstrosity i currently have this thing automatically setting up and making fuel just by taking kelp and throwing it around here if i have some kind of farm or something like that automatically dropping these things on the ground they’re going into this chest yes it has an advanced magnet upgrade it

Also has an auto smoking upgrade which i have set to start smelting kelp it’s also cooking kelp well how’s it doing that with a compacting upgrade which is taking dried kelp and making dried kelp blocks from that fuel that is currently being made with all that in play you can
