Hi minecrafters welcome to the tutorial today we’re going to have a look at how you can copy and paste in your minecraft builds now to make sure that you can do this you need to be running minecraft education edition version 1.17 1.17 is needed for this update to the structure block And the world that you’re building in needs to have cheats turned on so let’s dump jump in and see what that looks like i’ve already started creating an example to show you so whilst you’re probably going to create a brand new world i’m going to go to a world that’s Already existing and jump in and go to play to have a look if your cheats are turned on press escape click on settings scroll down and under the cheats heading you need to make sure that cheats are active this is what’s going to give you access to the Structure block you can see i’m holding the structure block in my hand already if i kind of wave it around there it is that’s what the structure block looks like if you’ve never used it before now in the past we used to be able to find the structure block just by searching so You open up your inventory by pressing e and then in the search field you can start typing in the word structure but it’s not there anymore anyway so right now to get access to the structure block you’re going to need to use the backslash commands sorry i should say forward slash The difference between forward and back is forward slashes lean forward and backslashes lean backwards so um press enter to open up or press t to open up the chat bar down the bottom and type in give space and then it will prompt you with these little hints over there do the at symbol And give it to yourself s or if you’re a teacher and you’re giving it to another student you can do that as well and then space type in stru and you’ll see structure underscore block type all of that in and you’ve got the message you’ve been given A structure block and then go to your inventory to find where that structure block is right now i don’t see my inventory because i’ve pressed e because it’s on the search uh tab so i need to go over to my little inventory button here to see what’s in my chest now uh i Already had one therefore now i have two but when you do this it’ll just appear um you know it’ll be in your inventory drag it down to your hot bar down there um and then of course you can get it into your hot little hands uh to start copying and pasting so Whatever structure it is that you’re trying to copy um you gotta just make sure that you know exactly how like where every single block is i want to see how high it is because you’ve got to set the height the width and the depth so those are the Three things because we’re now measuring in three dimensions you’ve got to set height width width and depth to copy uh the three-dimensional shape um and we’re going to do that it’s it’s not that hard so stick with me we’re going to first of all mark the bottom left-hand corner of my shape my Little house here there’s the front door i’m going to put a structure block down at the very bottom left hand corner all right that kind of yeah that’ll do uh as long as it’s in front yes it’s all the way at the very front of the house And as long as it’s along the side good so that structure block is the front bottom left hand corner and you can see that there’s a plus button on the top well i’m going to change that plus to a circle so let’s right click i’ve right clicked on it once to bring Up this menu and what we’re interested in right now is at the top left we’re going to change it to the word corner all right so tick that and you’ve got to give it a name so what’s the name of this build because copying and pasting is gonna need Um a name so i’m gonna call it a cabin there we go cabin press enter and minecraft adds something to the front of it my structure colon cabin okay well that’s the bottom left hand corner now i’m going to mark the top back right hand corner Okay so i need to go to the back of my structure and i need to go to the top of that structure well of course i’m in creative mode so i can fly but i need to get a block up there so i’m just gonna like put some temporary blocks on the ground Um There we go some temporary blocks which i will smash in a second but i need to get it above the top of my structure that kind of looks right okay there we go so i’ve placed a second structure block uh i can smash all these other ones i don’t need them anymore Right smash done okie dokie now right click on that one as well okay change that plus we’re going to go over here and make it a corner and we you’ve got to give it the same name c-a-b-i-n for me so two corners bottom front left top right back Okay so i’ve marked my two corners okay you can now see that that’s got a circle it was changed from a plus to a circle and this one here is changed from a plus to a circle so i’ve marked out my two corners and if i you can see them like that So now i need to put down a third structure block and i’m going to use the third structure block to save or copy everything that is between the first two structure blocks okay now we set the first two structure blocks on corner mode this one the third one we’re going to Set to save mode so i’m going to right click and go to save all right it’s already on save now i put in the name of those two corner ones cabin and i’m going to click the detect button there we go i had to click it twice okay but now you can see In the preview uh it’s captured well it looks like it’s done a pretty good job capturing all most of my cabin i’ll have a look at this all right so the back it’s missed the back and there’s no floor i haven’t captured a floor so i need to move The the back corner i need to move it one uh and the one at the front i need to lower it by one just to capture more of the space that i’m looking for all right so now let’s have a look at the wireframe that it’s given me because When i click that detect button it gave me this wireframe and said like hey lawrence this is the part that we’re going to save and that wireframe shows me the same that the preview did uh that it’s missing the bottom okay see that and it’s chopped off the back of the um The roof and it’s missing my plants down there all right so well let’s first of all fix the front one i need to lower it to include the floor so i’ll smash that put a hole in the ground drop it in there and right click i’m going to go corner and call it Cabin right and let’s see if i go back to this front one if i redo detect is it going to update i actually don’t know um so then save is correct my structure cabin correct and detect yes all right it’s done it i’ve now got a floor Well this seems to be a bit of a bug that’s all right it’s done an update so that’s good to know now let’s go to the back um remember we needed to move it backwards one so i can build the temporary structure again if i want to All right so i’m gonna put i’m gonna smash this one and put a new one here okay and again right click i’m going to close corner i’m going to call it c-a-b-i-n right um Smash the temporary and i’m going to click the detect button on this one here at the front so save yes cabin yes and detect all right brilliant it’s done the update i’ve now got the complete ceiling i’ve even got those plants at the back i’ve got the floor Uh that’s looking really really good so i can i’ve now set the size of my build to be the correct size and in fact if you have a look right underneath that save heading here is the x y and z coordinates of how big the selected area needs to be You can use those x y and z coordinates and just use one structure block so as you get more comfortable with x y and z your copying and pasting will go faster because you only need to use one structure block but using the corners is A great way to get started so now that i’ve got the right size saved let’s do the click on the save button my cabin has now been saved into the computer’s memory so let’s go and paste it somewhere so i’ve still got a structure block in my hand I’m going to paste it down on the ground i’m going to right click and this time i’m going to choose load and i’m going to type in the name of the object that i’m loading from the computer’s memory uh it’s giving me the size and now i’ll click load and ta-da It’s pasted my cabin completely but look at the mistake i’ve made it’s actually pasted it too low so maybe what i need to do is let’s try again because i want to work this out i can either put the structure block up higher right click load and load the cabin Click out of it and then load now and there it is all right my cabin has pasted beautifully well hopefully that has been helpful so you now know how to copy and paste in minecraft getting good at that means you can spend more time on smaller details And then copying pasting them into a larger build i’ve been doing this on a single player map i wonder if you’re on a multiplayer map does every player have access to the builds that have been copied can another player simply use the name of the build Or does it only work for individuals why don’t you let me know in the comments of the video how it works on multiplayer maps You Video Information

Minecraft education edition copy & paste will save time for young builders and designers allowing them to focus on the details of their innovations. Use the Structure block in ‘Corner’ mode to define the 3D space to be copied then use it in Save mode to capture the structure . Load mode then allows you to paste your creation.
