Hey guys what is up my name is Nick and today I’m bringing you another YouTube video in this video I will be going over terrain controls custom height I will not be doing everything correctly right off the bat because it helps with demonstration also another thing to know Is that if you do not use the same doubles as me you will not get the same results so I’ll provide some doubles down in the description just know that when I select a double I am selecting the double that is from this if it’s positive then it blocks will spawn if It’s negative blocks won’t spawn and if it’s zero then blocks are default to the biome we are currently in again please watch the video before you even start messing around with terrain controls custom height so please listen and do not follow along unless you are really okay with making the same Mistakes and errors that I make for demonstration or just because I plain screwed up I will include the code in the description because this one’s a bit more confusing than my other videos so let’s jump right into it alright very first double I set to zero point zero Because it seems to affect bedrock and a few blocks above it also setting it to zero point zero pretty much means that it has no change and is default to the current biome wherein and if I move to the second double you’ll see that I’ve Set it to a value of 4000 and it seems to affect to nine blocks and once more I’ll move to the third and you’ll see that I set it to a value of negative 3900 and it seems to affect seven blocks I continue decreasing by a hundred and Inverting from positive to negative to get the full and empty pattern they also continue to affect seven than nine blocks anyways the pattern continues until I hit about eight blocks when the pattern changes which is right here so I don’t know why it does this but work is Just gonna have to deal with it and you’ll also see that the next one right here affects eight blocks as well this pattern continues for quite some time and I’ll just let you know when it stops up about right here is where the pattern actually changes and it goes to six Blocks but for some weird reason the one above it is seven blocks I don’t know why that’s just the way it is and lastly there’s something up here like I can’t tell if the thirty-third double is affecting anything but I couldn’t see any stone at all anyways that’s pretty much it for this Part and I’ll see you back alright so as I said before studying a value to zero point zero means that it’s default to whatever biome you’re in so we’re going to be using two Plains biomes in front of us as an example and I’ll be explaining how they work so for these Two biomes we went from positive directly to negative values and switching like that from with high numbers will make it so that we have a completely flat area like you see right here another thing that we might do is we might accidentally skip over the bumpy terrain and we also don’t want to Do this and I’ll show you why but this is the biome we’re going to want what we did here was we changed the values of all doubles eight blocks before the bumpy terrain to positive numbers and then left all the values after that to zero point zero or default the reason Why we do this is because we don’t want to ski over the biome if we do then we’ll end up with something more flat like this because we overwrite the current biome and again this is the biome we want and I’ll show you guys how to do that right now So the first thing you’re gonna want to do is go into your folder and locate where your world properties are this is just a map I’m using you can pretty much ignore it for now but I guess what we’re going to be doing is we’re gonna make sure we’re using for different biomes Each biome will just be another part of these cliffs another thing to note is that out here in the green area I am using Plains but just open up the world config and then hit edit with notepad plus plus once it’s opened scroll down and right Here you’re going to want to add these values sorry I already put them in here I didn’t mean to I meant to get rid of them but once you put these in you can just simply close out of this we won’t be using it in and then I’m going to Start the server and we’ll be right back for simplicity’s sake all I did here was open up the horror biomes that were just created and opened up the Plains biome and put them side by side and scroll down to this section all right as you Can see we have a double value that goes from negative 10 to 10 and it says that zero is equivalent to half the map blocks and height which is 128 blocks so I’m going to set this to 5 making it that we are 3/4 the height of the map Right here in biome volatility I’m setting it to 0.05 two more represent of Plains biome as you can see though I accidentally put point point O 5 and I didn’t catch it throughout the video so you might see a bit more bumpy and rough terrain And now I just copied and paste this and all the rest of the biomes unless you’re using image two Maps like me you don’t have to worry about this otherwise make sure you set these now we can just start the server and make sure you delete the World and then you should be good all right now that I’m done wandering around aimlessly you can see that the smooth radius has turned out much better than I thought it would changing it from two to three was a good idea but I want it recommend overdoing It the pillar looks fine right here but I still think there are a few things we can change I don’t know why that caves there but we could have probably add some overhang up here maybe cliffs right here or a pillar and that’s about it see right back in The code all right right here’s about where everything starts to become hard because you have to keep plugging in double values and testing it out and see how it looks in game so we’ll be logging in and out of game from here on out it’ll take a while but you can see right Here I’m trying to figure out how many doubles to go over this is actually me doing the math because each double that we change affects about eight blocks and so I’m going about a hundred and sixty blocks over and then I’m gonna change those blocks I will also open up the code you’ll see a bit later but for simplicity sake I’m just gonna speed up right here and slow down some of the parts where you can see the code that I’ve changed the reason I choose to affect these doubles instead of the other ones is Because I want to affect the blocks from 160 to 192 and that’ll give us the look that we’ll get later if you didn’t what I did there all I did was copy and paste this line of code into the other code I did skip post though so make sure You don’t post it in that the reason I choose these values is to make the pillar completely effect all the way through so that you can’t see the bottom it’ll affect box 128 to 196 all right as you can see right here the smooth radius isn’t that great we’ll fix That later but don’t worry about it right now also that’s not part of it but don’t worry about it but the overhang that I was trying to get isn’t really as good as I thought it would be so we’ll also fix that and I don’t know what happened to the pillars I might be able to find him if I look so let me check real quick all right well it looks like they’re nowhere to be found so I’ll see you right back so right here I actually found out that the hollow spot wasn’t as hollow because I accidentally set the values to Positive instead of negative and all I’m doing right here is changing the values to negative I also make sure that I increase the height of the mountain and increase the height of the pocket all right as you can see we actually do have the pocket we’re looking for now but We’re also still need to do the cliffs down here and we’ll make them more like this pocket as well but if we fly under here you’ll be able to see that we now do have our pillars and they look much better than they were before you can Also fly around and we’ll see a second one over here but another problem that we had is when we fly out here you’ll notice that the smooth radius isn’t that great over here and the way we would fix that is we’d have to increase the biome Height for that part of the biome and it smoothes with the rest of the biome better so now we’re gonna do the cliffs down here and you’ll notice that when we do the cliffs that it’ll probably make an arch right here and so if you were going to do arches you’d do something Similar like that right here on the values that I normally use in setting them to negative so that the box underneath don’t spawn this will give us the clip cliff look that I’m looking for and I’m just changing these values throughout the rest of the part so I’m gonna speed this up too All right as you can see everything is pretty much the same even up here the under part we still didn’t change up here we didn’t really change either so just pretty much ignore all that but down here is where I really wanted to focus on so the reason why accidently Are I almost did it right but then had to do it wrong is to show you that if you didn’t be what I’m going to do next you’ll get these bumpy terrains and we don’t want that so we’re just gonna increase the custom height a little and Maybe you change the smooth radius in order to make it look a little bit better but pretty much all we’re gonna do right now we can ignore pretty much everything but the smooth areas you see right here and like the flat rock we can’t do anything about that with Terrain control that’s just the way to rain control works so unfortunately we won’t be able to change that if you’d like to change that I would strongly recommend after generating your world to actually go through and use voxel sniper on it alright so right here like I said Before all I’m doing is increasing the height a little in order to make those bumps go away and increasing the smooth radius to help out with that again if you add another biome as well it’ll look a lot better than just increasing the smooth radius but I’m doing this for Simplicity sake alright that’s pretty much it I’m going to just fly around and show you what it looks like you can change anything you want I mean it really doesn’t matter you can just fly around and figure out what you like and what you don’t like and what you want to Change but since this one’s more confusing I will also have a download link in the description for the code that I’ve created today and I do apologize for how long this video took I thought it was gonna be shorter and I had no idea how hard it would be to Explain because even if you change one double then you might not get the same result so another thing I’m worried about is the quality of this video I’m not sure that it’s as good as some of my other videos so you can tell me if that’s Right or wrong but I do apologize if it’s worse but I still hope it helps out and that’s pretty much it so I’ll see you guys next time Video Information

Here is the tutorial for Terrain Control’s custom height. Please let me know if it helps, and I do apologize if it isn’t as clear. I am still new to YouTube, and barely ever record my voice. This video was really long, and I’ve done my best to simplify it.
This is the list of double values that I am using. Each double should either contain a zero, or a positive/negative value of this in the exact spot to get closest to effecting 8 blocks with every double. If you use any different doubles in different spots, you can potentially get very different results. 0.0, 4000.0, -3900.0, 3800.0, -3700.0, 3600.0, -3500.0, 3400.0, -3300.0, 3200.0, -3100.0, 3000.0, -2900.0, 2800.0, -2700.0, 2600.0, -2500.0, 2400.0, -2300.0, 2200.0, -2100.0, 2000.0, -1900.0, 1800.0, -1700.0, 1600.0, -1500.0, 1400.0, -1300.0, 1200.0, -1100.0, 1000.0, -900.0
