Hey again everybody today it’s not me you see it’s all a simulation what you’re experiencing right now isn’t even real and if it was real how do you know it’s real if you can’t touch it and if you can touch it how do you even know that’s real it’s all a simulation what You’re experiencing right now is all inside of your head your imagination and honestly how do you even know that’s real that’s right it’s not that’s a simulation too it’s all a simulation always has been minecraft snapshot 21w38a added a brand new setting that’s right today’s video is all about a Setting and that’s because it’s basically built in hacks today we’re going to talk about it if you liked today’s video leave a like like always going to be 10k likes let’s see if we can hit it and do you see this thing right here mauritius tiny puny well if You’re not subscribed you should definitely subscribe i’m actually in a sub race against this thing right now and i’m losing i’m behind i need your help so subscribe minecraft snapshot 21w38a the second official minecraft 1.18 snapshot it was super technical it mainly focused on performance today’s video entirely focuses on something Inside of options video settings it’s right here simulation distance this is a brand new slider it’s kind of like the render distance slider but at the same time it’s not at all completely different the new simulation distance slider like the name says controls the simulation distance which basically has To do with like ai in a way so right here we have a a villager a villager is an entity simulation distance toggle controls this thing the sheep is an entity the sword on the ground is also an entity so let’s say we have the Villager uh mining no no no so let’s say we were in the jungle and we found some villagers up on top of the tree doing something maybe working maybe having a meeting i have no clue the villagers are on top of the tree doing something then let’s say for whatever reason maybe i’m Lagging or whatever i turn the simulation distance toggle all the way down to two we’ll turn chunk borders on this is going to showcase exactly what the simulation toggle does so we move far away and then eventually the villagers lock up they lose all intelligence all brains they’re Completely gone that’s what it does the simulation distance basically controls the simulation if you turn it down really low to two chunks so 32 blocks as soon as you’re more than 32 blocks away from something uh it basically freezes like the villagers over there i’m more than two chunks away again so basically They’re not loaded in or at least their intelligence doesn’t load in same thing is gonna go for an item if i had an item on the ground and i moved more than 32 blocks away the intelligence if that makes sense of that item isn’t even loaded in anymore and even though i’m Really far away from the item i can’t see it it definitely does exist over there once i get a little bit closer it’s right there always has been the addition of the simulation distance toggle is great it’s a really really good thing if you have performance issues with the game uh you could Actually try lowering the simulation distance down a little bit something that we couldn’t do before you could lower it to something relatively low maybe 4 chunks and then try it out maybe you’ll have a little bit less lag which means you can actually enjoy the game a Little bit more it’s good it’s great really having more control over the game’s settings is always a good thing something like this is long overdue however it does allow for some interesting exploits one final thing to know about the simulation distance toggle it does not affect the spawn chunks of the world This is the spawn chunks right there even if i move really far away that villager will actually still have intelligence whether it’ll actually do something interesting and productive or not uh that’s that’s a good question the villager even though i’m really far away does definitely still have the ability To move and same with those horses super far away from those horses but they can move around you see that thing it’s moving simulation hack number one oh no i’m stranded in the middle of nowhere the middle of night in survival mode i don’t have anything except my armor oh Boy good thing i have that the first simulation distance hack has to do with night time so right now we have our simulation distance set to two chunks and it’s the middle of the night i’m existing out here really i’m thriving so look at all these mobs out here uh do You notice anything about all of these mobs around me like any of these ones whoa no way this is actually a great night time i found a spy glass on the ground but all of a sudden random zombie horde for whatever reason i actually can’t fight these zombies off so you Know what i’m gonna do i’m just gonna run i’m gonna keep running and eventually i’m gonna outrun the zombies i can move far enough away and now look at the zombies uh the skeletons are attacking me but these zombies are fully locked up lost all intelligence because My simulation distance is set so low like unbelievably unreasonably low i can actually control all of these mobs or most of them out here at night time if you’re playing the game at nighttime and things get overwhelming all you need to do is pause the game and turn the Simulation down all the way to two and then things should get a lot easier same with inside of the new caves those brand new big gigantic caves some of those caves definitely get way bigger than two chunks they can get pretty huge if the cave is overwhelming you all you need to Do is pause the game and turn simulation distance to two chunks that creeper right there is locked onto me that’s not good i don’t like explosions at all all i need to do is run away a little bit and as soon as i’m more than two chunks Away from this thing it is frozen same with the zombies they don’t know what they’re doing compare that brand new ability that we have to cut out all mob ai as soon as they get more than two chunks away from us with a brand new mob spawning change the one where they only Spot at light level zero and the game potentially gets way easier like i don’t know where it went i lost it but i actually successfully outran a baby zombie because i left the simulation distance i completely lost the thing though surely this is entirely player controlled though if you don’t like it Don’t turn the toggle on right problem solved well yes but that’s not the point of today’s video the goal is to point out potential downsides to this new option and that’s downside number one downside number two oh my gosh it’s the middle of the night still in my village my village my Villagers all got outside this is a tragedy there’s zombies everywhere this isn’t good all i need to do is pause my game really quick here and turn simulation down to two it’s good and then i need to run if i can move far enough away all of the villagers all the Zombies will lose their ai and they should be safe i just need to keep running and look at this they’ve all locked up other than the baby zombie if that thing could just leave me alone that’d be great so check this out because i moved far enough away the Zombies are actually mid hunt right now like they’re just frozen the villagers are mid panic too but i’m far enough away to make all of these things just unloaded i saved all of these villagers lives i’m a hero i know by simply moving not that far away again avoidable i know If i just simply don’t do it but that’s not the point of today for today’s video i ran a test and now this test took a little bit of time uh so i’m not going to recreate it but i’m going to explain basically what i did so i have a Villager standing right here to test this and then i have some items on the ground maybe i tragically uh despawned uh respawn you know right in that area you know something bad happened but hey it’s actually all right all that i’m gonna need to do is turn simulation Distance all the way down to two so here was the test i had a villager over there i moved far away as soon as the villagers stopped moving i knew that the simulation distance was in effect the villager isn’t loaded in it’s not moving the villager isn’t moving so i’m far Enough away that the simulation distance is doing its job after setting all this up i started a timer usually items despawn within five minutes so long as they are actually loaded in that’s the important part after that jimmy john’s got delivered so i had my veggie sub it Was great it was really good after i finished one of the most delicious sandwiches of my entire life way more than five minutes later i came back to the game and moved back over to the villager and sure enough all of my items were still on the ground what i’m saying Here is if something bad happens to you you die you drop all of your items on the ground the first thing that you should do or that you could do is lower the simulation distance if your simulation distance is set solo to two chunks like this then your items that You just dropped aren’t going to be loaded in until you’re within two chunks of them which means all the way over here very very close to my items relatively speaking still and they’re not loaded in we can check again by looking at the villager it’s not moving Its head is locked down the items are loaded in and they’re just sitting on the ground and they’re so close now i don’t know how i feel about this one uh is it really fair does it make sense to just randomly lose your items when you die because they’re on the ground and You didn’t get back to them fast enough i don’t know it’s an interesting mechanic maybe it could be changed but what i’m saying here is the simulation distance toggle allows you to basically cheat your items back kind of i mean you still do need to get them back manually But with the simulation distance being able to be set all the way down to two chunks practically all you need to do is be like on top of these things for them to be loaded in if they’re not loaded in the five minute counter isn’t going personally i think the answer to this Big issue is reconsidering how items behave when you die maybe instead of just falling straight onto the ground they’re put into some kind of grave but instead of this becoming just some basic gravesome mod put into the game maybe you need to find a different item to actually open up the gravestone the Items would be safe inside of this gravestone forever until you can actually open it and by item i’m imagining some new type of ore or something kind of like how you use lapis to pay for enchanting maybe the simulation distance slider allows you to pause the timer on your items pretty Effectively not inside of world spawn chunks check simulation distance set to two also check we’re doing good wither supplies in my inventory check that’s great building the wither uh that’s what i’m doing right now weather is spawning in and now i’m gonna move far away really really quick now clearly i’m in Creative mode and i’m flying so that’s easy but it could definitely be done in survival with like a boat the right setup look at this you notice anything the boss ball right there the wither in front of me they they’re not doing anything right now the weather is Completely frozen because i’m more than two chunks away i can move back in a little bit closer i’ll let the wither load in a little bit more i could back up again rethink about my decision if i don’t like it i could just leave this Area or i could commit i could move back in the wither boss bar is loading again if i back up uh the boss bar stops loading move back in let the wither fully load in and then immediately back up now the wither is frozen right now It’s not moving i could take my bow and take shots of the wither however because it’s not actually loaded in its health i don’t think it’s going to go down like if i just stand here and keep sending these shots in at the wither they’re bouncing off of the thing over there uh When i move back in they might actually land on the wither we’ll see um no they don’t actually land on it the big point here is that you can now easily manipulate boss fights with this toggle if things start to go bad you could pause the game turn your Simulation distance way down and go like 32 blocks away a little bit more pause the boss fight resupply restock get all of your potions or whatever you need to do and then go back in and easily finish off the fight this one is potentially the biggest one because it provides you Such a big advantage it works great with the wither fight it could also work amazingly with raids now unfortunately it’s not going to work for the ender dragon fight that center and island is always loaded in every other boss fight or mobs in general get way easier to Deal with when you can shut them off when they’re two chunks away next up we have something that isn’t really cheating or life hacky it’s just a side effect of this toggle that’s a little bit strange so right here we have a bunch of bees it’s a school of beasts They’re just existing doing bee things eventually if i move far enough away turn around and look back the bees have locked up and they’re just floating there it’s kind of strange looking especially more so if the bees are up in the sky in the middle of nowhere they’re completely Frozen though they’re not doing anything clearly this is the intended effect with this toggle that’s how it works for bees all other mobs it’s just kind of funny kinda kind of strange now all the things that we took a look at in today’s video are technically intended effects of this Toggle if the simulation distance is low things aren’t loaded in that’s basically how it works however at the same time most of the things that we took a look at in today’s video feel insanely cheating am i saying this toggle should be removed from the game no way no way It is definitely a good thing am i saying it should be changed not necessarily really these are all just things to keep in mind if you know about the simulation distance toggle and how it works you can give yourself some insane buffs insane cheats obviously this toggle is a manual toggle meaning You actually have to go into the settings yourself and adjust it so you could just simply not adjust it and things would be fine but what do you think do you have any takes on simulation distance abuse do you have any other good ideas that you could use The simulation distance toggle 4. if you do throw it down below remember to leave a like and subscribe turn
